HE NEEDS TO FIND THE KILLER

The Helheim pack is still reeling from the abduction of their alpha's mate. While Rhett begins the search to get her back, Vaile is distracted by a series of brutal murders at the local Goth club which have all the hallmarks of a vampire killer. Left to put the bloody pieces of the puzzle back together, he can’t help but think there is some sort of connection between the two occurrences...

SHE DEMANDS TO KNOW HIS SECRET

Larissa Grey has just been assigned to the service of Vaile Wolfe, an intimidating, dominating detective who scares people to get his way. When the case they're working starts getting strange, she demands answers from her partner but discovers only more questions. Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarain, I was gifted my copy of this book.

This is book 2 in the Helheim Wolf Pak=ck series, and you really MUST read book one, HAlf Blood, first. This is a continuous story line and not everything is recapped.

And again, I really ENJOYED this, but I didn't quite love, and it's mostly ME that is the reason, not the book. (I think!)

I still cannot see the bigger picture, I really can't! It's driving me nuts that I can't even make one up, as I am prone to do, and I can't see where this is all going. AT. ALL!

Vaile is the focus of this book, and his new, human, FEMALE poilce partner. Dealing with the murders at the nightclub brings many questions for Larissa, and Vaile is hiding something. Something big. It's pissing her off and she will get to the bottom of it! Rhett and Indi's relationship begins to move at a much faster pace, especially once they sort out her food problem. I'm not sure I like the final solution, and I think Rhett might struggle with it too.

The search for Alpha's mate intensifies, throwing up some major spanners in the works, some twists I really didn't see coming.

It's dark and deadly. Bloody and emotional. Sexy and sweet. The violence is graphic and the sex explicit, and I loved that they were!

Lots of people again have a say, and I was ready for that this time, so I really enjoyed the stage setting in this book.

And another bloody (quite LITERALLY!) cliffhanger! *throws toys out the pram and spits dummy out*

Creeping up to 4.5 stars though!

Lauren Dawes delivers again! The Helheim Pack has enough to worry about right now with their Alpha’s mate has been kidnapped but on top of that there are murders happening and all signs indicate that the Vampires are causing them.
Werewolf and Detective Vaile is on the case with his new Partner Larissa Grey. Vaile isn’t an easy man to work with but there is chemistry between him and Larissa. And she’s not intimidated by him. Attracted to… Yes, Intimidated… No. Will they find the killer before time runs out?
With a Werewolf war on the horizon for the last Half Blood who can help the Packs with more female births what will happen? Will the Helheim Pack be able to save the Alpha’s Mate? Will they keep the Half Blood in their pack? To find out you’ll have to read this wonderful book!
Want a series you’ll want to read over and over? Then this is a series for you! Lauren Dawes books just draw you into them!

Probably my favourite book of the series so far (I've read until book 3).

In this one, we follow two main stories: Rhett and Indi as he continues to pine after her, and Vaille and Larissa who are attracted to each other.

I didn't like Vaille in the first book but he grew on me in this one.

Indi has become confident in her 'abilities,' yet is struggling with fitting it into her old life and dealing with questions by the victimised best friend Indi can't be truthful with. With some tragic ramifications. Rhett hasn't won fans, despite getting Indi into the pack. Vaile's police work is complicated by personal feelings towards his human partner.
Within the human population, Vaile and his human cop partner are investigating murders within the Goth community. Being careful what you wish for. Vampires aren't something to glamorise. Or want to meet in a dark alley or nightclub. Leads come from a wolf from an opposing pack, who wants to switch sides because of a difference of 'leadership styles'
A good read

“Half Truths” picks up where “Half Blood” leaves off and is just as amazing. This book will not disappoint. Indi now realizing who and what she is has accepted it, but just because she has accepted it doesn’t mean it’s meant to be. Rhett is fighting to save Indi’s life but it seems like the one thing she needs is the thing that’s putting her life in danger. Will Rhett and the help of the pack be able to save Indi’s life before it is too late?
Indi’s life isn’t the only life that is in jeopardy, the pack must also figure out a way to save Eaton, the mate of Antain, the leader of the pack who was kidnapped in exchange for Indi. Will the pack be able to rescue Eaton with giving Indi up to Marcus who plans to use her until she dies? The question becomes are they really willing to sacrifice Indi to save Eaton, and what happens if Indi dies before the exchange can or will be made? Will the pack be able to keep Indi alive, rescue Eaton and find out who is killing humans and sending a message?
Will they be able to keep everything from the seer who will willingly give Indi to Marcus if it seems like the pack in unable to protect her? As a plan is set in motion to rescue Eaton from Marcus and unexpected visitor is willing to give them the answers they are seeking but nothing comes free. Will the trust of the stranger lead to betrayal? Relationships will form, loyalties will be tested, bonds will be broken and what started out as a rescue mission will lead to a full blown war? The question is who will be on whose side and who will be standing when the war is over?

Picking up only days after the end of 'Half Blood,' 'Half Truths' brings us into deeper contact with another wolf from the Helheim wolf pack, Vaile. In 'Half Blood,' Vaile had the look and feel of a cold-hearted brute, but right from the beginning of this story, we're given a deep look at his softer side. We're given a chance to see him in a different light, a chance to understand why he's so gruff ... we're given a chance to like him. We watch him learn to open up again after the pain of his past, and we get to know a few new characters, too.

But this doesn't mean that Lauren has forgotten the first of our Helheim loves. Indi and Rhett are still very much a part of the story, and we're taken along as Indi learns more about what it mean to be the felvair, as she learns more about the ways her life will be changing. Rhett's life is changing too, as he learns to take on new responsibility, standing strong for his alpha as tragedy threatens the pack.

And in the midst of everything, a war among the wolf packs is looming ever closer in 'Half Truths' by Lauren Dawes. If you've read 'Half Blood,' believe me, you want to see the next installment. You want to follow the story. You want to know what's coming next.

Was easier to get through compared to the first book. I loved Vaile and his story and will read on because of him. I’m still confused about Rhett, I want to know more about him. Surprised by the spice of this book, didn’t expect it.
Check trigger warnings before reading.

I think my favorite part of these books is you get a little bit from not just one or two characters but the whole pack is wound together in the story as if its like a bunch of side stories wound together to help to understand and learn more and more. In this book Indi is in trouble her life is running down a slippery slope and Rhett is trying to justify his actions. Also a wolf from another pack is showing their face more and more in Helheim territory which is putting the Helheim wolf's on edge more so then they already are. A war is beginning to brew under everyones noses and I have a feeling that no matter what happens to try and prevent it shit is soon going to hit the fan. The end of Half Blood is a bit of a shocker to me I figured Sable would have some stupid suggestion about how Colton ended up in his predicament.... his suggestion somewhere pointing at Indi bit I was wrong. A small cliffhanger just big enough to make you want to open book three asap!! I must add though didn't see that coming with Vaseil kinda shell shocked but I love it!! Cannot wait to read 3 after I post this! Happy reading all!!

i had the first book as a freebie and enjoyed it so bought the next one. Its a good mix of characters we can empathise with - they are "real" people not flat one dimensional as so often in books. they have faults and problems and their actions are shaped by what has happened in the past. I was glad to see so much of Vaile in this one - he's a brooding charcter in book one but lightens up in this and we see another side to him. Rhett - its clear from book one how he feels about Indi and he's so careful with her as she's such a vulnerable person due to her past. Its lovely to see their romance gradually unfold.
there are some good "nasty" characters here too - all books need a counterpart to the heros...some of the actions of the "nasties" are a bit stomach churing but fit with the characters portrayed so its not just gratuitous violence. the sex scenes are well done too - not too icky and twee, not overdone and in your face but just good honest hot sex. I'd be happy to re read and to read more from these characters.

I really liked the first book so I immediately went and bought this book so I can continue it! I'm so glad! The author has spun a wonderful tale full of drama and suspense. I don't think I've read a book with so many characters that seem to be 'main' characters but I really like how she folds the stories into one. To read my full review please visit my blog
