The barbarian wanted me as his woman, and my crew handed me over!

I knew there would be sacrifices when I volunteered for the intergalactic mission. I just never imagined my crew mates would trade me to a fierce Viking warrior on a distant planet to save themselves!

Now I’m stuck on a frozen rock, light years from Earth, with a barbarian who’s convinced I’m his fated mate. And he wants to claim me. To take me to his fur-lined bed. The worst part? I’m tempted to let him...

Sure, he’s strong and sexy and I haven’t felt warm in days, but it’s more than that. For the first time, I’m insecure and struggling to fit in. I don’t really belong here. I’m used to reading books by the fire, not carrying a sword I can barely lift while foraging for food. The other villagers stare at me, their eyes overflowing with suspicion. And my new man, Einar? His fierceness intimidates me!

If I let him into my bed, maybe I can thaw his cold heart...

Einar is a standalone sci-fi alien romance, full of lots of steamy action. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a happy ending!

I was quite disappointed with the book. From the very beginning of the story everything just pops into existence, there is no logical lead up to the events, no anticipation. Just a simple story with no imagination from the author. I was completely unable to emotionally invest myself into the story which made me completely disconnected from the characters and the events.
It is very obvious that the author was too lazy to do any proper research, even with simple google search . Author simply chose an easy way throughout the whole story.

They are on a mission for earth. They run into a planet that is supposed to be uninhabited but guess what they find. Hot, alpha male viking aliens. One of them wants her and will let them have what they are looking for if they leave her behind for one of them. Well you wouldn't think they would. But surprise. It is exciting, suspenseful, hot, emotional, surprising and so much more. I received a review copy by booksprout and voluntarily review it.

3.5 stars maybe ? I enjoyed it, and read it all in a couple of hours because I was into the storyline and where it was going. That being said I’m not sure if maybe it was the writing or just the character development in general, but something was lacking for me. The connection between Einar and Maggie at times is written very well and I can feel it in the words but sometimes there is a disconnect. There’s not enough back story on the characters to really understand who they are. The concept of the book was very interesting, especially since I don’t normally read “fantasy” books as such. I was just left with wanting more explanation on certain things at the end of it all.
Honestly I think it would make a cool movie more so than a book.

Great start to a new series!

This was very enjoyable and different from a lot of sci-fi romance. Maggie is left with Einar to be his mate, but everything g clicks with them. There is a TON of steam if you like that and p!Henry of action as well. It was well written with only a few typos.

Great Read....

I really enjoyed this book! Great characters and story. The only disappointment was not hearing about the return of the ship with her father and brother and if they brought another woman to trade. Hopefully that means a second book!

The spacecraft had been travelling from earth to other planets trying to find a water supply that was compatible to what Earth needed since our own had been contaminated with nuclear waste. Scientists were trying to find a solution to cleaning it but until then, it was imperative to find another source or our population would eventually die out.
The Hudson family travelled together with other crew members. Her father was the captain, her brother a scientist, and of course, Maggie went along mostly so they could keep an eye on her and she didn't get into trouble while they were in space. She really didn't have a viable career yet.
They landed on the planet Scides having been informed it appeared to be uninhabited. It appeared to be covered completely in ice. Drilling a hole and testing the water, they discover it is compatible with Earth's and everyone is ecstatic. The had no more dropped the hose to start extracting water into the craft, when what appeared to be large Viking ships starting breaking through the ice and demanding they leave the planet without the water. When they tried to explain how necessary it was to their survival, one of the Vikings named Einar, agreed to let them have the water in exchange for leaving Maggie on their planet as his mate. Unbelievably to Maggie, her father agreed.
This was an absolutely amazing book with a storyline that was easy to follow, main and side characters with such great personalities with quirks that only enhanced the telling. There are several open ending pieces of information that were in the story that I'm hoping Molly Rowland uses to turn this single read book into a series. THAT would be ideal to me.

I enjoyed it but have so many unanswered questions. Like where are the aliens that abducted the Hs people? How did English become the prevailing language? More about the bigger picture. Are there continents on this planet? What happened when her people came back? I would read more

Loved it!!

This was my first read for. This author and I absolutely enjoyed it. I loved that Einar wasn't exactly perfect. He meant well and he worked within the realms of what he knew, but he also realized when he was wrong and tried to anyone for it. I really liked his character.

I also enjoyed Maggie. I liked shareholder struggled with her situation, she was rational about it and she continuously made the best of it. It made her character !more likable. I also liked that she was so open-minded. I've seen characters in situations where they shut down and make bad situation s worse, but that wasn't Maggie at all and it made me like her more.

Overall, a great book and I look forward to more from this author.

Einar by Molly Rowland is a steamy, sci-fi story with hot, sexy, Viking-like aliens - what could be better? Maggie is working with a group of scientists searching for clean water for Earth on other planets. They finally find success, but are shocked when Viking-like men with huge ships approach their shuttle. Their research was faulty - this planet was supposed to be uninhabited.
The Vikings will let them have the water on one condition - they get to keep Maggie as a mate for Einar. This is ridiculous, right? Not to the rest of the crew (that includes her family) they leave her. They actually leave her on a strange planet, with a strange man, for god knows what purpose. Poor Maggie.
But there is a connection between Maggie and Einar. They might be fated mates, but their road to happiness isn't always easy.
Lots of sexy times in this book - so hot. The world building is really great and I can't wait to read more!

This is my 1st read and review for this author and it’s such a fantastic story. Maggie is on a research ship looking on other planets for water for earth, they find an uninhibited planet but they find out that its very much inhabited because there are Viking like aliens coming towards their ship. The aliens will give them the water in exchange for Maggie and everyone including her family are willing to hand her over. Einar takes Maggie as his mate but he doesn’t seem too interested or happy about it. This is a fantastic alien sci-fi romance with plenty of steam and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Even though this is not my usual genre, I enjoyed this futuristic yet historical romance between Space Viking Einar and Maggie from earth.
I was relieved when I found out that Einar and his race were probably descendants from earth Vikings, so there weren’t any weird physical things to deal with in that department. While it started out like a regular romance, I enjoyed the little twists and drama the author added to keep the story alive. I also liked the paranormal healing and Fate aspect to this story. Told in Maggie’s POV only, it would have been nice to “hear” Einar’s thoughts as well.

This is the first book I’ve read with an alien Viking and I LOVED it!! Turns out the 2 strangers are fated mates and although they may not have got together under ideal circumstances, they manage to work through it all and fall in love! I’m hoping there are more along the same line as this, because this was a really awesome book! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a fabulous book, a sci-fi romance that was action packed and really romantic! To save her expedition's crew, starship and the much needed water for their planet Earth that they had harvested from this alien planet, Maggie stayed behind to be soul mated to the Scides Viking warrior Einar. I loved reading this! It was so easy to immerse myself into the story. Any chance of a sequel? I will be waiting.

I really liked this sci-fi Viking read. Maggie is working with a group of scientists looking for clean water to take back to Earth. The alien planet was supposed to be uninhabited but when the Viking men on their large ships confront them, the rest of the crew has no problem leaving Maggie behind for the water. Einar believes Maggie is his fated mate, will they find a connection and will Maggie be able to survive this new world? Steamy read with lots of drama and suspense. I liked the characters and the story held my interest from beginning to end. A great read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
The moments of confusion were more an intrigued feeling. I couldnt put it down.
From the very beginning, I was captivated by the story and the world that Molly Rowland has created.
I would highly recommend and hope there will be more books in a series to come.
Happy reading!

I loved that the story gives incite in Maggie's life before coming to the ice planet, but did not dwell on it. I especially liked that even though Maggie and Einar are fated mates, there is an uncertainty between them.

The world building was phenomenal and created a wondrous world of vikings.

Hot read with all sorts of twist and turns

First don’t read this and try to explain to yourself why or how certain things are. Like where does this come from or how do did that happen. Take it for what it is . A ice planet with barbarians that have learned to thrive as best they can . Overall it was a fun exciting story that flowed easily. It has hot romance , adventure and a HEA.
Our girl ends up getting traded for water. It was really the only way and made total sense once you understand the people. The impression I got from the get go is that she is lost and looking to belong somewhere and be useful. This action made her feel useful . So basically every time something bad happens and she is involved she simply, I think takes it as she sees it and tries to make the best out of it. Because basically for most of the story she is still searching for her self and has zero control over most of what happens to her. She makes a few crazy decisions along the way that play a role in the end . Our main guy has his issues as well but he is sweet and super hot . Just kinda in his own shell at times. These two basically grow together. The story is a fated mates read, stand-alone , HEA. Smexy scenes are well done and hot and though out the story. Personally I really enjoyed the story and watching the characters stumble their way to the end result . I’d gladly read a book 2 that even built off this same couple.

Too far fetched

I read the entire book hoping that it would make more sense but it instead just went deeper down the rabbit hole. Our heroine Maggie is just left on the planet by her brother and father with no argument or fight. With family like that, who needs enemies. And the aliens are descendants of Vikings that were kidnapped from Earth to be slaves but they killed their captors but couldnt fly back home. They spoke English from the get go. This strikes me as odd that a group of Vikings hundreds of years separated from Earth would speak anything close to our English since there is distinct differences in slang even today. Australia, England and the US all speak English but it doesnt mean I'd automatically understand them. And yet, these groups can just start speaking to one another without any gaps in communication or comprehension. Another sticking point was her abilities. I just didnt buy that her blood can instantly cure wounds. She has different vaccinations that may give her immunities, but last time I checked, blood didnt seal wounds to where they would be closed within a day. Her blood may have protected her, but shouldn't have healed others.
I think the story was just a little too much out of realm for me but did like it enough to definitely give the author another chance to wow me because her scenes were good it was the details that just bothered me

Cute read. Decent story with a few holes in detail, but not bad.
Focus is mainly on Maggie and how she relates to her new place; as Einar's fated mated, her learning about her new world, making friends and mistakes and finally finding her place.

----------------spoilers below ----------------------

Some odd things:
▪There is no indication of when in time this is taking in place. Earth is in need of water due to contaminating our own, they now fly in space (obviously). (Feels a bit Firefly-like, without them being mercenaries)
▪The Vikings found here are from Earth but instead of the Norse language being the main language...everybody speaks modern English.
▪The whole prophesy thing is kinda vague (but I guess most are)... and is it only in reference to two clans?
▪Freyje comments that she (Maggie) saved them because she was out looking for the sacred stone, but she wasn't) she never tells anyone she dreamt of the stone necklace.
▪She put s only a drop of her healing blood into the bottles but it takes 5 to heal Einar's friend Bjorn(?).
Everything feels a bit pat. Not sure if there will be a sequel. Not sure how far the water they gathered will stretch on Earth, probably not far. They will probably draft women to barter (sell-off) for water. If/when they come back, I wonder how much time passes due to space travel.

Not much passion-spoilers

The heroine is a lot dull, submissive even. Maggie's traded by her family for water to take back to a devastated earth yet she barely has a reaction. Her family just leaves her. She accepts even easier being wedded to an alien she doesn't know from a can of paint and threatened her whole family if they didn't give her to him. She fights nothing.
First day of captivity, Maggie sees him with another woman, gets jealous but doesn't ask who the woman is, just marries and falls in love with him almost immediately. The same woman begins bullying Maggie, who asks the same woman to train her. Where in the world is this heroine's spine?
But... on the new planet, she does a lot of stepping out of her comfort zone to try new things and then, suddenly she's been sent from the Gods and is wanted by another clan.
I have to think this would have been a really good story if the heroine had more passion besides in the bedroom with the alien. Lots and lots of sex but the characters appear one-dimensional because the story is written from Maggie's pov only, so it's hard to relate to or like Einar and his clan. They hoard fertile land and clean water while not caring if the rest of the universe starves. 3 stars for imagination.

I would like to thank Molly and Booksprout for the opportunity to review this ARC.

This is my first book by Molly and I look forward to reading more, as a result. This story takes on a fated journey of love. Now, at the beginning I briefly wondered what I got myself into. I found Einar to be a clueless jerk and Maggie to be a love sick puppy. I am pleased I ignored those judgments because the story unfolded heartwarmingly well.

What worked for me:
-the steamy scenes were hot and there were many of them. Thank you Molly!
-the futuristic ice world she created was unique and interesting
-there was more to the story than the incredible sex scenes

What did not work for me:
-at the beginning, I wanted to kill Einar as he seemed to have no empathy for his newly acquired mate. Perhaps I needed more patience. ;)

Trigger warning: abandonment

Trigger warning: someone who loves a slow burning romance with a sexy alien viking
