I bought this book myself and am not a member of her course. That's important to know right off the bat. This is a good overview of a work-at-home, freelancing option. On the one hand, it covers a lot, and on the other hand, I still feel like you'd need to buy her course to really get into it. That's not totally true. You could figure it out yourself, but it would certainly take more time and effort. It did bother me that there are a few places in the book where she says there's more in her course on the topic at hand (like perhaps she deliberately left it out so that you buy her course, but then I also understand the book can't cover everything--so I'm equally somewhat irritated and understanding). For the record, I don't plan on buying her course (I purchased a different one, though I'm sure hers is fine--they're all fine, but I wanted to spend less).
I've been in Lauren's FB group for almost a year now and that's when I had already knew what I was meant to do. I joined the group to gain some perspective on how to do it. I received the book free back in September. I have been so busy with life and my own VA + Web Design business that I hadn't actually read it until this last week.
It was hard for me to put down as I felt connected to Lauren in some ways not just because of the FB group but because we both are originally from Kansas City MO and granted I was raised in Branson MO. She went on vacay there. She helps give you motivation and gives you insight into some things to do to get yourself going.
Lauren has made me believe in myself more than anyone ever has. I highly recommend the free mama movement to anyone looking for more than the dreadful 9-5. She just has a way of keeping you uplifted even on your struggle days. One of my favorite parts of the book is where she talks about some of the moments that got better when you started out knowing nothing as a mother. Especially the part when your kids finally remember to flush the toilet. I'm over here like, "mine are 8 and 11 and they still can't remember to do that"...haha.
Great advice for “Mamas” interested in staying home with their children but still making use of their considerable talents from the workforce. The book is a step-by-step manual about making that leap from the office to the home office. Lauren Golden shares her insights about the process and the big rewards.
I loved the idea of "working from home, control your schedule, and make more money." The book has some good ideas, but a lot of the information goes back to "The Free Mama community", subscribing to the program, and purchasing her training. If you are looking to work from home as a virtual assistant or freelancing and don't know where to start this book would be great for you.
This book definitely deserves five stars. There is a TON of value, spunk, and relatabilty. Lauren is so giving and this book exemplifies that. The stories are inspiring and she lays out a step by step plan so that mo!a can have it all.
I purchased the program Lauren created months ago and have LOVED it. She really does set her “students” up for success with so many tools and info to get going. This is a great intro to her program and the basics for getting started.
Great book and program! A lot of the book is getting you in the right mindset and some foundational knowledge / expectations, and if you're already there it can leave you wishing there was a lot more detailed / pragmatic advice.
Great motivation. Good bases for starting a Virtual Assistant Business, a little rough on views of MLM. She's encouraging and has a lot of helpful tips.
