Bedtime? Story time! Gloria Repp’s earliest memories center on the stories her father told at bedtime. “What kind of story would you like tonight?” he’d ask, taking her onto his lap.

She always had an answer, different every time: “About a princess. And a lion. And maybe a horse—a brave, kind horse.”

After she learned to read, Gloria found stories on her own, but the ones she told herself seemed the most satisfying. Her mother died, her father remarried, she was sent away to school, and on many nights she treated herself to another imaginary adventure.

She became an omnivorous reader as the years passed, and finally she recognized what she’d always wanted to do: write down her stories for children to read.

She studied the craft of writing juvenile fiction and then began. Her three children seemed to like her stories, so she took the long road to publication and found that others liked them too. Since then, she has taught creative writing, worked as an editor, and written more books—for children, teens, and adults.

Many of Gloria’s books reflect her love for wilderness, and she says that the oceans, mountains, and forests of her childhood in Hawaii and Canada provide an inspiration she has never outgrown.

Recently, she has been exploring the New Jersey Pine Barrens, an incomparable wilderness of woods and rivers, bogs and ruins. One memorable spring evening, she listened to its frogs and found them irresistible. Before long, the hours of tramping through abandoned cranberry bogs bore fruit, and she began to dream of stories about a tiny Pine Barrens Treefrog named Pibbin.

Pibbin’s adventures have taken shape, young readers enjoy them, and each year she goes back to the Pine Barrens for more. The Tales of Friendship Bog continue.

This book in the series is even stronger than the second. Now as Lindsey continues to battle between herself and letting God be in control (which we all know is a difficult transition) things are in motion. Danger is lurking but no one knows the source. The author's scriptural references while there seems to be fewer they also seem more personal and more in tune with the story and the characters. We now see how it all blends together. The actions and betrayals keep you invested in the characters while the scriptures show God's role and guidance. This one while it has more action than the previous book it isn't really that type of read. If you want a book that gives you a life story of someone who is growing and learning of and how to use prayer and the word to get action then this is the book for you. This author does an amazing job with the imagery, making you feel the energy from the pictures and the scenery. Great story and execution, definitely worth reading all three books in the series.

I enjoyed reading The Protector. The story was interesting and the connections between the characters were very clever, making the mystery of the story more fascinating. Lindsey was a likeable character and I really felt for her during parts of the book, as she was forced to stand up and deal with the many issues that bounded into her life. Admittedly, a couple of those issues could have been easier to deal with if she and Colin had just communicated a bit more (just call him, Lindsey!) but I think we can let go of that as we realise how much stress she was put under. Her faith in God, her relationship and her career were put under strain as she was required to drop everything and move back to her family home. However, she grew stronger and more sure of herself, which was nice to see. I would have liked to see more of some of the characters, Todd, and Julian Rutherford, for example. But, I really enjoyed reading about the other characters' journeys. I think Molly was my favourite character in this due to her charm and love of baking.

I liked the writing style of this book. It was pleasing to read and it had a satisfying pace to it, and there were points when the tone switched from an ambitious photographer’s success story and a romantic story with Colin to a sinister conspiracy in which her past was unexpectedly uncovered and people she thought she could trust were actually quite sleazy; something I was not expecting when I started reading this book. The switch-up definitely kept me on my toes which I really appreciate. The descriptions and settings were also very vivid and easy to imagine. They were a joy to read!

Overall, I really enjoyed reading The Protector and would like to go back and read Gloria Repp’s other books in her Dumont Chronicles series. The Dumonts seem like as though they have some very interesting family history.

Just so worth it! I have said it before and I will say it again, I am just in love with the way Gloria Repp writes. God! Be it the portrayal of characters, the way she keeps me on edge with the thrilling twists and turns in the story or the way she sweeps me off with her excellent story telling skills. This woman really knows to keep her readers hooked. I love love loved the book to the core till the last bit. So glad I took upp the three books in the series. It was absolutely worth my time. If you too want to read something absolutely amazing, give it a go. Yeah, one more thing, though all the three books can be read as a stand alone, I would suggest anyone reading to start from the first book 'Deep Focus'. This way you will have a better clarity about the characters and how the story unfolds. Happy Reading!

In The Protector, we follow Lindsey from high hopes to broken dreams, deep fears to bold courage. After reading the first two books in this series, I slipped easily into this story as though revisiting dear friends.
When she learns her niece Mollie may be in danger, Lindsey leaves the west coast and Colin, the man who’s becoming scarily important, to help Mollie deal with the Manor and whatever is threatening them both. Twists and turns include new, intriguing characters, who bring more reasons for Lindsey and Mollie to learn to depend on God.
As with the other books, faith pulses through this story, bringing it and my own trust to brighter life. I identified with Lindsey’s struggle to trust God with every detail and admired her courage and growing wisdom.
I loved this book, a gift from the author, and award it five stars. Highly recommended.

This is better than the second book in the series because the writing is tighter and the characters - both protagonists and antagonists - are more deftly drawn. Lindsey, the photographer who owns the large house in the woods, seems more in control of herself in New Jersey than she did in Washington, and her friendships feel genuine. This is Christian fiction, but thankfully Repp has made this aspect of their lives more subtle and natural than in the preceding offering in this series. It doesn't sound preachy and heavy-handed. It works as a stand-alone mystery and ties things up with a tidy bow.

A heart divided, an enemy unseen, a riddle of trust, long distance romance

This book continues the story of the Dumont women, Lindsey and mollie. The hopes and fears Lindsey deals with. The support given by Timothy, Tara and other grounded Christians. The Bible verses quoted that Lindsey learned and put into practice made me go back and read them in my own Bible. The fears of the future that Lindsey struggled with mirrors so much of my own life. And when Lindsey pauses and talks to God about all that she is going through, asking for God's love, protection and wisdom reminds me to do the same. To receive God's peace is what we all search for.

I debated between 3 and 4 stars and would prefer a 3.5.

I enjoy this series, but my frustration with this book is references to people that I don’t think have been introduced in this book. I’m not even sure everyone was ever introduced, even if you’ve read the first two in the series, but I have to be wrong on that, I think.

Maybe the assumption is that everyone who reads one of these starts at the beginning, which is a very good place to start, but I still think there need to be fewer characters and better clarity.

That said, the book is good, continuing the story of photographer Lindsey and her inherited manor in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey.

The third in the series of Dumont Women. It carries forward the story of Lin and Mollie and their love lifes and other characters that their life is entangles with.
Lin has to return to her castle being restores by her niece Mollie due to arson and damage to the castle and threats. Someone wants to buy their castle at any cost.
there is betrayal by an old friend, help from new friends and new hopes and beginnings.
The story is simple and good and a pleasant read on rainy afternoon.
Would have better if scriptures were quoted less

Being vested in the lives of Mollie and Aunt Lindsey from the first 2 books, I could not put this book down as the worlds intersect in this final book of the trilogy. Lindsey's world of photography in Seattle leads to reconnecting with her past in her agent Derek which collides with the present troubles surrounding her Jersey manor across country with a couple of overzealous buyers who has sinister plans for its use. The question is how will this affect their futures. Repp ties up this trilogy beautifully.

Loved this series

Your characters come to life with the details you write. Story line was intriguing and kept me up reading many hours past my bedtimes. Hate that the series is over but look forward to starting another. Thank you for all your research and the time you spent writing books for me to enjoy.

I read the first book in the series and it was so good I had to read the other two. They were all good Christian books with a lot of suspense
