Rate this book
Framed for a crime she didn't commit, a wrongly-imprisoned space captain's only chance at freedom is to abduct a fearsome alien war commander.

Sub-Captain Eve Traynor knows a suicide mission when she sees one. With deadly insectoid aliens threatening to invade Earth, the planet’s only chance of survival is to get the attention of the fierce Eon Warriors. But the Eon want nothing to do with Earth, and Eve wants nothing to do with abducting War Commander Davion Thann-Eon off his warship. But when Earth’s Space Corps threaten her sisters, Eve will do anything to keep them safe, even if it means she might not make it back.

War Commander Davion Thann-Eon is taking his first vacation in years. Dedicated to keeping the Eon Empire safe, he’s been born and bred to protect. But when he’s attacked and snatched off his very own warship, he is shocked to find himself face-to-face with a bold, tough little Terran warrior. One who both infuriates and intrigues him.

When their shuttle is attacked by the ravenous insectoid Kantos, Eve and Davion crash land on the terrifying hunter planet known as Hunter7. A planet designed to test a warrior to his limits. Now, the pair must work together to survive, caught between the planet and its dangers, the Kantos hunting them down, and their own incendiary attraction.

Edge of Eon is book one in the Eon Warriors series by Anna Hackett.

Eve was falsely imprisoned, now for her to get her freedom back and protect her sisters; who have been outspoken on her imprisonment, she must now sneak on board the Desteron, an Eon Warrior ship, and kidnap the War Commander Than-Eon. A piece of cake....

I was captivated from the beginning to the end. Edge of Eon is a great introduction to the Eon Warriors series. It introduces us to the Eon race who are like Earth people, but they are more. We also learn that the Eon race have not been finding mates among their race and that they can only be fertile with their mates, so they have turned to science to produce the best and brightest to ensure married couples and those that want children can have them.

We also meet the evil alien race, Kanos, who are bug like creatures that want to destroy Earth and not just Earth, but also the other races in the galaxy.

As for Eve and Than well their adventure is one fun ride. I loved how capable Eve is and that when shit goes wrong they both end up working together to survive. The sex is scorching and the action is non-stop. You get sucked in and can't stop until the very last page.

Edge of Eon is one wild ride from beginning too end. I devoured this book and jumped into the next. Anna Hackett is a must read for any Science Fiction Romance fans. She has a way of pulling you into the world, characters, story, and romance.

If like me you have read this authors Hell Squad or Galactic Gladiator books then you be well aware that she has the capacity to imagine weird and wonderful creatures. Therefore it came as no surprise when I realised that Davion carries a symbiotic creature that he can link with in order to perform amazing feats . What I did find surprising was Eves non stop have a go attitude. I'm used to kick ass heroines but this gal just keeps going no matter what she is faced with. I loved her feisty nature and the chemistry and mutual admiration really helped me see these characters as believable. So putting them together on a terra formed planet that keeps throwing unbelievable terrain at them plus creepy insectoid bad guys really meant they had to fight ( literally !) as a team.
So why not a five if I thought it was fun and enjoyable ? Perhaps for this reader the couple both had too much of a hero complex going on and the constant wish to sacrifice in order to save the other felt like overkill. As usual the dialogue feels spot on and the romance is hot enough to melt sand ! Good world building and already I'm eagerly anticipating more from characters we've briefly met. So my final thought is a great start to the series and ideal if you want a fun and action packed read
This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

This one was such fan!!! I was grinning while reading how Eve treated Davion and how he couldn't believe what she was doing! It was really entertaining!

And the ever-chaning planet?! It was like a VR game where every few hours the world change! LOL

I liked that Eve wasn't a wilting flower, but as strong and cunning as Davion! What can I say: I love that kind of heroines!

Also the banter while fighting was fun!

What more could you want from a SF romance romp?!

Jumping on Lara's story!

Uhm, the world building is interesting and for few chapters this was really fabulous.

Until what was happening in that artificial planet!
First change? Wow!
Second change? Interesting!
Third change? Started to make me 🙄🙄🙄
I felt like playing games where you have to face different type of monsters when you jumped in another room!
After more change, I just skimmed and their enemies are bugs! 😳🙄😂

However, Shaggy help the story for me! 😘😂
And I want to read Lara’s story too:)

Eve and Davion's story was entertaining and at times made the pages burn.

We find a typical storyline in my opinion. What makes it higher in rating are Eve and Davion's chemistry and personalities. I stayed entertained and connected to the read the entire time. However, with this being along similar basis as other reads...some may not find it as enjoyable as I did.

Happy reading,

The start of the Eon Warrior series is off to a fantastic start. Eve is blackmailed into abducting an Eon War Commander from his ship, in order to gain the Eon cooperation in helping Earth defend itself against a kandos invasion. Things do not go as planned with the abduction, and Eve and Davian are forced to work together to survive the brutal planet they have crashed onto, and the Kantos threat that now stalks them.
This is an audible review, and the narrator does a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life. Non stop action and adventure, a trade mark of Anna Hackett. This is the second time of listening, and still as good as the first time.

Kind of a cross between a Starship Troopers, Star Wars, and Jumanji world. It’s like dipping a hot chip in cheese sauce.

Action galore.

Cheese.

Some snark.

Insta soulmates.

No OW/OM.

She’s part dangling damsel and part fearless warrior.

He’s part smitten kitten and part ferocious warrior beast.

A lot of space, futuristic tech and shiznet.

Save the world big picture.

So, all the above is kickass good for this type of book. Editing is actually above par for this niche, which is often a hot mess. It’s written well. It flows well. Characters are likable. Romance is fast but believable.

That said, by around 75%, the action is getting a little stale. I’m tired of the planet from hell and bugs from satan’s crotch. I’m ready to move on to the bigger picture. As if the author has ESP, bam… the stormtroopers arrive to move the story along. Well played;)

The only plot hole I found was how the bad guy bugs with claws and shit somehow set traps, truss up the MMC between two posts in the ground, and other *handsy* kinda shit. Maybe a better body description was in order?

So, the first …’leave me, save yourself’ was fine, but f’me it gets eyeroll worthy after a couple times of it. Still, it didn’t stop my enjoyment.

The end was perfect. HFN that leaves the reader confident in the couple and hopeful for the big picture situation. Nicely set up for the MC’s sisters to get their own books.

For this alien romance niche, I’d give this book 4 stars.

This review may contain spoilers, so fair warning, upon reading the review.

I have really been eager to pick more of this author and her science fiction romance, and this is definitely a subgenre that I have been neglecting in recent years and she has so many sci-fi romance to indulge in and I do find her writing fairly easy to get into. I also was intrigued by the setup of the story and it sounded like such a kick-ass romance that I was in the mood for. I found myself thoroughly enjoying this short novel. It was such a nice distraction to escape into, and these two were so funny together.. They had such great chemistry but their bantering was on point with each other. Anna Hackett definitely knows how to write her dialogue in her pairings. The set up is pretty simple, our heroine was blamed for what her superior officer made a mistake in, and her ticket out of jail and to keep her sisters safe is to kidnap the head commander of the Eon people who have the technology to save the Terrans from being exterminated, So so kidnaps the great commander, only to find themselves under attack, and stranded on a planet and they have to work together and survive the dangers on the planet all the while their enemy is chasing them. I absolutely love some great survivor type of setting for a romance, but we also have this angst between this pairing that is so delicious. But I really liked how great our hero is about being kidnapped (haha) he takes it in good humor actually, because he sees the sincerity of our heroine, Eve, who really felt like she has zero choices in it. I really loved the vulnerabilities that we see in both of our characters, and they surely know how to kick ass together. They make such a solid team and really know how to work together in all aspects. The chemistry in this book is solid and while I was hoping for more in some areas, this was such a well-rounded story to indulge in. My issues with the book are real, I just wasn’t quite feeling the connection and the romance between these two,. I was hoping for more intensity that what I was given. Despite this though, I still enjoyed this book so much and I am eager to work my way through this series.

If you like your sci-fi romance to have lots of action, a muscle-bound hero, a kickass heroine and lots of sex, then you’ll probably love this. It’s fast, it’s hot and best read without thinking too deeply. Jump in and enjoy!

Alas, I tend to need a little bit more than a hot hero, feisty heroine and sex, so despite being excited about this new series, I found it a little meh. It’s fun enough, but I have to admit it didn’t win me over. Eve was just a bit too impulsive at times and I hated how often she needed to be rescued, sometimes through her own foolish actions, sometimes just by accident. Davion was all right, I guess, but pretty dull for a war commander, and the way he got over his kidnapping seemed way too fast to me.

I also didn’t like the way some things just happened. Cutting a hole in the side of a spaceship and it being undetected and totally fine. One of the rescues. The dog. They were either too convenient or too unlikely for me to really go along with.

I did, however, love the idea of Hunter7, even if again it worked best if I didn’t think about it too deeply. As a setting, though, it was great. I just wish it, like the romance, had been given more time to be explored. The romance is far too instalust for me. But it’s like the rest of the book, fast, furious and getting straight to the exciting stuff without wasting much time on build up.

Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, I just like a little more depth in my reads these days. Still, the setting is good and the next two books definitely sound intriguing, so I haven’t given up on the series just yet. If you like the Galactic Gladiators series, then chances are pretty high that you’re going to love this.

The adventure in this book, Fantastic!

I loved the bad ass heroine too. The idea about changing terrain and synthetic planet was amazing. The creatures and main villain species Kantos was also done well. God I wanted the space corp to suffer for blackmailing Eve. May be sometime later.

DNF 73% These two have been captured by “bug” aliens about a half dozen times at this point. The MC’s are trying to survive on a bonkers training world where the terrain and climate keeps changing. The same capture/rescue/escape from danger scene has happened so many times that it has become completely meaningless. I simply could not force myself to keep reading any longer.

Very fast-paced book with surprisingly good world-building. The change in biome every few hours was a really interesting element and Shaggy was a cute sidekick.

The plot was pretty stock-standard and the romance between the h/H was instantaneous (not my fave trope). Regardless, I really liked the heroine's personality and I'm excited to read about her sisters' stories in the next few instalments.

Edge of Eon is the first book in the Eon Warriors series and what a ride this Sci Fi romance is. I love that Anna can write any genre and still make a great story for readers to get lost in. I have read a lot of her books and can say I have enjoyed each and every one.

Blackmailed into doing someone else's dirty work Eve finds more than she bargained for when she abducts the top War Commander of the Eon's to help save her sisters. What ensues is an actioned packed fun tale.

It was good to re-read this series and I enjoyed it just as much as the first time.

Anna Hackett does write fun things; Eon Warriors is her latest series and comes off as a mash-up of her Galactic Gladiators series with the ever-popular apocalyptic Hell Squad one as future earth women—when humans finally come of age to travel and explore space in earnest—find themselves tangling with a race of Eon warriors. Who are naturally, buff, muscular, big and bonded with a symbiont that gives them a near-untouchable demeanour from the start.

The setup is intriguing of course: a criminal blackmailed into kidnapping a War Commander into helping earth save itself from an insectoid enemy, though that is far from achieved in this establishing book. A fair bit of ‘Edge of Eon’ deals with context and history, though there’s the usual enthusiastic inclusion of sex and action from the very start.

My own issues about Hackett’s writing do show up: the wrap-it-up-conveniently scenes when all hope seems lost, the lack of any sense of gravity (admittedly no one quite wants that in a romance where HEAs and magical saves should happen), the instant lust and how the supposedly kickarse heroine turned out to be an impulsively petulant teenager at times full of chest-puffing bravado that suspiciously resembled several strutting male lead characters in action movies.

But it didn’t meant I wasn’t eager to read the blueprint that will pretty much define the rest of the series: the ways of bridging the supposedly insurmountable gap between Earth people and a humanoid race, the mating process (the syfy-romance staple) and how it’s achieved—and that’s mostly through humans behaving badly to get the attention of a superior alien race.

I liked Hackett’s world-building and the way the narrative arc revolved around the mysterious planets of Eon and their entire civilisation. There’re cool bits to enjoy, which I certainly did, but I’m still crossing my fingers that the next few books won’t quite follow this pattern to a ‘T’ nonetheless.

A rush from beginning to end.

Heroine is blackmailed into a doomed task by the organization that has already treated her badly. Love of family and the ingrained desire to protect have her accepting the assignment.

The heroine is resilient, quick thinking, witty, and self sufficient. So is the hero.

Watching them work together to survive their enemies' plans is edge of the seat nerve wracking. Watching them fall in love and hoping for a happy ending, more nerve wracking.

Moments of fear, sorrow, lust and jubilation are spread throughout the story.

Looking forward to the upcoming stories involving this family and then others.

This author's books are consistent quality reads, this one is no exception. Highly recommend.

Anna Hackett is the queen of action romance with a Sci-fi twist.😎

Overall a very enjoyable read, but the “cheese” were a bit more evident and at times I was just over it. 😓
Despite that it also had some very strong moments, great fighting scenes & the steam really awesome.
It’s a new universe for me & this little Anna Hackett fan is intrigued 💪

EDGE OF EON was non-stop and filled with Anna Hackett's classic action, sexy romance, and tough heroes and heroines. I quickly read this in one sitting and enjoyed following our characters as they battle the elements on the crazy Eon-made Hunter7. With dangerous animals, plants, and a shifting biome structure, Hunter7 is designed to test the strongest of the Eon Warriors. On top of that, Eve and Davion are also being hunted by the evil Kantos insect aliens. Like I said, non-stop.

When it comes to badass heroines, Hackett always does it best, and I loved Eve. She's loyal and tough and she gives her all to complete a mission. After she's wrongfully imprisoned for her Captain's mistakes, Eve finds herself being blackmailed into saving Earth. Of course, she has no problem stopping the destruction of her planet but she doesn't expect to make it off the Eon warship alive. But Eve is pretty smart and she finds a way. Once she's met the War Commander Davion though she's shocked to realize how attracted she is to him.

Davion himself is also intrigued by this Terran woman who seems different then what he was expecting. As our hero, Davion was great; he's protective of Eve but as a warrior he respects her skills and loves her strength. While the Eon have kept themselves separate from Earth since their first encounter, Davion never hesitates to stand by Eve's side.

I did feel like Eve and Davion gave into their attraction pretty fast but it's all wrapped up in the adrenaline of running for their lives. There is a fated mates thread in this story but I liked that Eve and Davion fell for each other before they ever realized they were mates. There were hints that their connection was deeper than just lust but they were allowed to explore each other before the greater meaning came to light.

I look forward to more in this series, especially after the last chapter which introduced our next couple.

Another freebie, but it looks like they’re all on KU now. I’ve spent the majority of the weekend cleaning out KU and freebies from my Kindle, so my reading expectations are pretty low at the moment… but I really enjoyed this one. I like the mc’s, I liked the action, I liked the dynamic, I liked it was free.

Davion is the youngest Eon war commander ever. He’s hot, badass, protective… basically alien boyfriend goals. Eve is awesome. She’s totally kickass and tough, but not bitchy or prickly at all. There’s a little insta-love going on, but it worked for me because their relationship is balanced, and they were such a good team.

The book starts with Eve being blackmailed to kidnap Davion so Earth’s govt. can blackmail the Eon into saving Earth. (Apparently the Terrans -earthers- were assholes when the 2 first had contact and they want nothing to do with them:) Despite this being the worst plan ever, it all works out in the end. After the successful kidnapping (because Eve is that good) the couple crash land on a hostile planet, and spend the rest of the book trying to survive.

Bottom Line- This is an easy read. Insta-lust-love, humanlike alien, nothing heavy. The world building is pretty simple- good guys are hot, they have a symbiont called a helian, and the bad guys are bugs with OTT action. It was entertaining, but not deep. The rest of the series is on KU, I might skip around. Her sis is up next, but she may be too tough for me.

Thank you Sue for the amazing spot on Rec. I needed to escape.. Needed a Sci fi fantasy so far out there.. And this was just perfect. This hero Davion was the exact kind I love. Total strength, loyalty and respect for a woman's ability to fight and be an equal.
Then our heroine Eve is like a combination of cat woman (agility) and a bad ass army woman.
These two started off as enemies but the love grew on each page. Started with pure physical attraction then slowly the respect settled in and that was it. Two people made for each other.

Anna Hackett is an author I see recommended to me all the time. I have her books on my T-B-R and I just never get to them, I’m regretting that now. This book was amazing and I know I’ll be getting the next book just after writing this review.

Davion and Eve our hero and heroine are two amazing badass characters. Davion is basically head warrior for his race or war commander if you will and Eve is a super woman trained by the Space Corps and thusly framed by the same company she gave her heart and soul to. She is blackmailed by said government group to kidnap Davion to convince his people to help in the fight against their common enemy, a bug enemy at that. Ewwwwww. Anyways even knowing the mission will be a bust Eve gives it her all and is one of the strongest heroines I’ve read yet. Battles, weapons and just plain badassery are Eve in a nutshell and while the two become stuck on a hellhole of a planet, hunted by their mutual enemy and facing all the threats from the planet neither deny their feelings and I really appreciated that. This was an epic start to what I know will be a gripping and hopefully long
Lasting series. This book was everything I needed and more. Cannot wait to read the next one and I would certainly recommend it to romance and sci-fi fans alike. Don’t miss this. I read it in hours 😉

I discovered Mrs Anna Hacket’s work via her Galactic Gladiators series, but I have read since only one book from her other series.
So since this is one of her new ones, and I did not wanted to wait for the sequel from the gladiators stories, I decided to give it a go.
And I was hooked, she has a talent to create new universes, creatures, aliens and so and so.
This first story sets up the background of three aliens species fighting against each other, the Terrans, the Eons (similar to the earthlings as they share a common ancestor) and the Kantos ( an insect like specie).
As the Earth is more and more attached by the Kantos, sub-captain Eve Traynor is blackmailed to abduct an Eon War-Commander to force them to help the human kind.
Eve is what can be called a badass of a woman, only death can stop her, she fights and return blow for blow.
War-Commander Davion Thann-Eon is a man of honor, protecting and battling are his main purposes.
But his encounter with Eve will shift his balance, she will open him to a different vision of his future.
They are the perfect other half for another, together they feel whole.
It is full action packed story with sexy times and two strong characters who make things do with the dented and dangerous path unfolding under their steps.
Now on the second sister’s story!

Shenanigans of an alien nature. Yesssss! And I'm not just talking about the brooding War Commander, either. Those Kantos are brutal and bad and I'm looking forward to watching them get their due.

But that's coming later, I'm sure. In this book, we get to meet Eve and Davion and see how the strained relations between Eon and Earth lead to Eve being sent out on a desperate, suicidal mission to abduct War Commander Davion. To say things didn't go well would be an understatement. To be fair, however, Eve did carry out her part of the mission pretty flawlessly. It was the Kantos and their dogged determination to capture Davion that threw a wrench in the plans.

Fortunately for both Davion and Eve, they work well together. SO WELL. And if they happen to get a little riled up after fighting off the bad guys, who can blame them? I mean, sometimes a warrior (both male and female) just has to blow off a little sexual steam, right?

Right.

Danger, bloodshed, and sexy times set on a distant planet with an enemy that I look forward to seeing defeated. Book 2, I'm ready for you!

For adult readers due to sexual content
You won't get bored! There is so much action and adventure in this one you almost forget it's a romance. We have hunky , movie star looking, warrior aliens who refuse to help Terrans or us Earthlings because of an old King's ruling. An alien race that looks like giant bugs who want to invade Earth and decimate it. Then there is us the conniving human who will do anything, no matter how underhanded or insane it may sound to try to save our hides. This is such a great story and the world building for the warriors training planet is wonderful. I really liked all aspects of this book. RECOMMENDED

Anna Hackett is THE standard for action-oriented science fiction romance. In Edge of Eon, Earth comes under attack by insectoid aliens. Eon, the only people strong enough to help, have refused to get involved. So Earth's military blackmails an officer into kidnapping a Eon warrior to force him to assist. Everything goes according to plan, until they come under attack by the insects, crash land on an Eon military training planet, and then have to fight the elements, the insects, and their own attraction to survive. Awesome world building and cool characters. A fast-paced, action-oriented read with a lot of steam for good measure.

I guess I’m the minority on this. Even though it’s a 3 star review, it wasn’t bad. I just didn’t really enjoy it. I found it boring, kind of descriptive and I didn’t connect with the characters. I couldn’t find the chemistry between the two main characters.

I think it was the lack of sexual tension for me. The book had steam but it felt forced to me.

I listened to 6 hours of a book and I can’t even tell you what I read, that’s how unimpressive the book was too me.
