Absolutely the best!

I just read the first three Cozy Corgi mysteries. Loved Fred, her family, and Watson as well as their adventures. I do like Fred’s strength of character. Who knows? Maybe Leo can rein in Officer Green...remains to be seen.

I truly enjoyed every aspect of these books...I’m looking forward to getting to know Katie and Sami more in future editions.

I highly recommend these books if you like cozy mysteries....

Finished book one. It’s not a great work of literature but it’s fun and fluffy, which I expected. The writing takes a turn in book two. The author uses “illusive” when she clearly means “elusive.” She refers to the main character’s stepfather as “naturalistic” because he’s a hippie. That is not what that word means. I also can’t comprehend how someone could scoop a square of lasagna onto a plate. Know what? Life is short. I will never be able to read all the books I could possibly want to read. I have an actual corgi in my house. I don’t need to power through a book that’s annoying me to get my fix.

Fun cozies!

I was supposed to be reading an ARC for another cozy series today, but started this one to give me a break from looking for typos - and couldn't put it down! Read all day to finish all 3 books! Well written and doesn't give away the killer early on like some do. Hope there's more in the series!

Cozy mystery

Found the books very entertaining. Easy reading without the gore. It's not easy to pick out the murderer ahead of time. Enjoyable read.

I love all the books in this series. It has my three favorite things dogs, books and food. The books make you want to go there, hang out in the bookstore, interact with the characters. I can’t wait to read the next one.

Entertaining!!

Enjoyable books, light reading, but fun. Some errors, but I seriously doubt any book is perfect. I happen to like cozy mysteries with animals. Not literature, but certainly fun read!

There were both good and bad things about the three books in this collection. The author did a good job at giving Fred a background that explains why she is so good at solving mysteries. She also seems to avoid the so-common-to the-genre that the police are incompetent and couldn't possibly solve the murder without the bookstore owner's help. However, it's set in a small town and it does make you wonder how many people can be killed in the small town before there's no one left! (Though it does sound like the area gets a good tourist trade for part of the year, so . . . however, if the town gets known for murders, I would imagine some of the tourists would avoid it.)

Fred plans to open a bookstore--the first book and part of the second book occur before the bookstore opens. The first two books, Fred investigates because people she cares about are accused. The third book starts the process of it not being a family member or close friend. I can understand her not liking to be told what to do.

I haven't quite figured out the beef that Susan and her brother have against Barry and/or Fred.

Watson, Fred's corgi, is a bit of an enigma. He's sometimes friendly, sometimes aloof, all about the food, and his nose often helps turn up a bit of evidence for Fred.

The author has set up a bit of a love triangle between Fred, Leo (park ranger) and Branson (police detective). At some point, this is going to need to be resolved. Branson is the only one so far to have asked Fred on a date. Watson tolerates him. On the other hand, Watson loves Leo and Fred's relationship with Leo seems easier than it does with Branson.

Overall, I thought the mysteries not overly compelling but I did read through the 3 in this collection--also having three to read, one right after the other, made it a bit repetitive.

CRUEL CANDY
Fred is wondering what she has gotten herself into, and knowing she has to be brave for Watson her corgi. She is now back where her mother and stepfather live, she has started a new phase for her life. Looking over her new shop, now showing a dead body. Opal was Katie’s boss, who she said wasn’t that nice. Now they are adding it was a drug den also. Determined
not to lose to another man.or drugs, murder happened. Fred is literally tied up with the murderer can she get free, A good cozy mystery, getting to know the people adds to the story.
TRAITOROUS TOYS
A sharp pointed garland, in a Toy store causing a murder. Katie is a suspect. Thoughts of unpacked boxes and Christmas gifts are not important as to find the killer. Her second floor, there are hints of what to do there, could it be a new beginning for Katie.Good series and one likes the continuing characters.
BICKERING BIRDS
Katie got her first catering gig for the bird watcher group, at the meeting with Katie knowing the answers. Which was an interesting touch to the story. While on a snowshoeing hike, a body is found in the snow. Fred put her sleuth hat on again. Cute story to read.

Great Book Set!

by Barbara Kelley

This book is Collection One, consisting of Books 1-3 of Mildred Abbott's Cozy Corgi Mysteries series. I absolutely love this series and all of the characters, whether they're good or bad. However, my favorite characters are Watson (our sweet, adorable, but grumpy cozy mascot), Winifred (Fred), Leo, and even though I love all of Winifred's family members, the one who draws me in is her Uncle Percival. He's such a drama queen, and I LOVE him. Each mystery is well written, bring both settings and characters alive. I recommend this book, as well as every single book in this 20+ book series, to everybody out there who loves to read mysteries, meet interesting and well-developed characters, and adores a grumpy, sweet corgi who lets his utter affection for certain cast members be known. I gave this collection a 5 star rating.

I received a copy for free via freebooksy, and this is my voluntary honest review.

Super cute and great characters, mystery

Really enjoyed this! Great story, interesting drama and conflict between characters, and mysterious enough to keep me guessing who the killer was. Each story built on developing relationships and her furthering connection to the little town. The side characters had so much personality and even though there were quite a few of them I was easily able to keep track of who owned which shop or who was which neighbor etc. I could picture myself walking along side her and her dog Watson as they went through town to talk to different people. And the dog even had his own personality too! Super adorable without being too cutesy. I would ded recommend if you're into cozy mysteries and love books in general.

You'll love Watson!

The first three in what promises to be a great cozy series, these books have it all!

A starting-over story with dead bodies, a clue-hunting Corgi, and a foreshadowing of romance with the hunky police detective. Add an eccentric pair of uncles and an aging hippie stepdad and your weekend read is fully mapped out!

Abbott's characters are quirky and endearing, the plots twisty-turny, and even though Fred does often get her wires crossed, she still manages to beat the biased Officer Green to the culprit!

A fun read, I'm looking forward to finding more of this series!

A very good mystery series. Winifred Page and her Corgi Watson begin a new life in Estes Park Co.

Winifred "Fred" Page is starting over by opening a book store in Estes Park where her Mom, step dad, and uncle's live there. Her new beginning is derailed by her discovering a dead body in the taxidermy store that she is going to transform into a bookstore. Her mom and step-father own this propery and other retail property. Fred immediately begins to solve the murder to clear her step-dad.

Delicious Tales and bonus recipes!

Loved this box set. They are the way to go. The corgi, Watson is just as gifted a murder solver as his human, Fred. She gets in trouble with the local police on a regular basis. Not for doing wrong or breaking the law, but for solving murders before they can. If course dating the detective helps with that. 😁
Together Fred and Watson uncover the town's secrets and put the gossip puzzle pieces together to solve crimes. And drink dirty chai and eat pastry. Can't forget that. And the Cozy Corgi bookstore/bakery is selling books!

Winifred Page or Fred as she likes to be called, survives the loss of her beloved police detective father, a painful divorce and betrayal by her business partner to start life afresh in far away Colorado, where she has her roots, and her now re-married mother, lives. With her share of the partnership, finally collected, she decides to fulfill her dream of opening a bookshop in the small mountain town of Estes Park, and leading a relaxed existence with her extended family and her main solace, her corgi, Watson, who walked into her life when she was at her lowest ebb. After a ten- hour drive, she reaches town and spots her soon to be shop, visits the bakery next door, meets the neighbouring shop owners, and makes her way home. Early next morning, her patience at an end, she rushes down to survey her new domain, only to find a murder victim. And that is just the beginning. Woven into her efforts to get acquainted with the town and its residents, set up her bookshop and her home, she zeroes in on clues to the perpetrator. Her Detective instincts aroused, despite stern warnings from the handsome Police Sergeant Branson Wexler, and sheer animosity from Officer Susan Green, she persists in her efforts and finally achieves success. But this is not the end. Murders seem to follow Fred, even in this tiny town. Read further in Vols. 2 and 3 of this set.

Excellent read!

These are the cutest, most interesting, most fun books I’ve read in a long time. Being a dog lover myself, Watson is just an amazing character! Anyone who has ever loved a pet like a member of the family knows what I mean. The stories are engaging, Fred is great, and all the characters are a hoot! Ms. Abbott captures the life of a small town perfectly! I can’t wait to start collection #2!

These books are cute little cozy mysteries. The characters are likeable and interesting. I especially love the setting of Estes Park, Colorado. The stories are written well with no swearing (which I especially like). In some cozy mysteries the 'detective' seems to bumble along but Fred is more focused and seems to know how to investigate. There may not be as much humor but the stories make more sense.

cozy corgi mysteries 1-3

The cozy corgi bookstore sounds so real and amazing. I could see myself spending the whole day in the bookstore.
Fred and Watson have had three mysteries to solve. Each book in this series shows deeper character development and many twist and turns throughout the plot to keep me turning the pages. I eagerly look forward to the rest of the books in his series.

Cute and mysterious!

I enjoyed reading the first three books in The Cozy Corgi Mysteries. Winifred or Fred, as she prefers to be called, opens up a bookstore with a bakery upstairs and finds herself involved in a few murders that she is determined to solve. The books also involve her pet Corgi, Watson, and are fun to read!

Love Bookstores and Corgis

Being an avid reader, I really liked that these books were set in a bookshop. That it had a bakery upstairs made it even better. I loved the "mystery room". I really enjoyed the books. I am confused, though about the Corgi. He's described by people always rubbing his blonde head, but the picture is of a Cardigan Corgi. The coloring is different....I think. Anyway, LOVE this books!

Corgi Cop

Enjoyed these 3 stories of murder and mayhem in a warm small town. Watson is a marvelous detective and gets lots done between naps and snacks and opening the Cozy Corgi Bookstore. He couldn't have done it all without his owner and buddy to do the thinking and legwork. Fred Page and Watson..a formidable pair.

Great reading for a long, rainy weekend

A truly cozy collection. Neat stories, nicely drawn atmosphere. The first book especially is rivetting as the characters are introduced and fleshed out. Since the books are short the other stories are like sweet desserts to round off a satisfying meal.

Captivating

I love all things dog, and mysteries; putting the two together is perfect! Watson's decisive independence is a delightful fit to Fred's seeking her new life in a quaint, mountain town. I couldn't stop reading after the first novella, and am looking forward to starting the next collection! Bravo, Ms Abbott; well done!

Light and enjoyable

This volume includes the first three books in the series. I liked Fred's interactions with her family and was glad that she and Katie the baker became close friends. One thing that bothered me was in the third book, after opening the bookstore, she left it unattended while she rushed around town trying to solve a murder. But the I am enjoying the series.

The First Three

These are good and the characters are excellent. The only problem is the police station - surely they couldn't be that dumb!! All in all, I will read the next one and be just as happy with it.
