I listened to this again and enjoyed it just as much as the first time. This is a fun series with a great narrator!
I finished listening to this today, and the combination of a Maddock and Bones story and Jeffrey Kafer narration can't be beat. I really enjoyed the Noah storyline in this book and thought it was handled well. I am always sorry for these stories to end, as they are highly entertaining, as well as historical. Excellent job!
The story is NOT biblical but it is imaginative and surprising and Dane and Bones are superb as always. Just a consistently great series for any adventure enthusiast.
I so enjoy Bones and Maddock's interactions. They work well together, almost like they know what the other one will do. They trust each other in the most dangerous moments. And they have a humor between them that makes me smile, and even breaks up the dire moments a bit to keep the reader light hearted and going.

Bones and Maddock return home to find Grandfather Samuel Bonebreak being questioned by two men in the middle of the living room, and it doesn't look to be kind. Samuel's never seen these men, but knows what they were looking for. The family treasure. The family treasure leads to the stone used to talk to animals, and a tie to Noah's ark where the animals were lead on the ship.
Jeffrey Kafer excels again at his narration of these characters. Jeffrey never lets me down when I listen to his works. The characters are not as much voiced differently in tone and timber but in personality in their voices. There are a few distinctive differences voiced, yes, but most comes through in who the characters are and how they would speak with emotion. This has become so easy to differentiate which character is which in listening. I do enjoy Jeffrey's voice as narrator though. I could listen to him all day.
David Wood uses descriptions that make it easy for me to visualize the scenes. The descriptions of the swelling, crashing waves of sea in the prologue makes it easy to see them. And there are many details like this throughout the book.
I'm thrilled this story centers around Bones and his family. We get to meet his family and see a legend from his family. Cherokee. Bones is an individual man, and I love him this way. So, I really enjoy Bones as a character. And I think I might be jealous of Dima. lol.

I find the connections of different histories and written history and mythology to be the gripping part of the story. The way Bones' family treasure leads to Noah and the ark then even another step even further is mesmerizing. I even pause when we get to these realizations to think on what we've crossed and that it all leads to this point. It does! I can totally see the line to this point with what we've learned. David has written the direction of events and the book to back the conclusions with great work. I'm amazed at this and enjoy it.
This book can very well be read/listened on it's own. I have listened to a few with these characters and of who them mention, but that doesn't impact the story in the least. I do, however, want to listen to ALL the stories in this world after getting the impression of past missions as I really enjoy the characters interactions and friendships. There are many different divisions of groups that are allies or enemies (in a sense) and would love to see all interact.
I will be looking for all sorts of books in this world!
This series on the Dane Maddock adventures keep getting better and better with each book. As is usual with David Wood, he has artfully spun a tale with events in history that help guide the storyline along.
And here we are again. Another Dane Maddock adventure, another quick read. It might not look like a quick read, 15 days, but that's only cause I put my kindle down in the living room and that's the worst place for me to put it. Out of sight, out of mind. But when I did sit down and read, it was a pretty quick.
I also finished reading the previous entry in the series, Atlantis, a while back but I didn't review cause it was... well, it was fairly mediocre.
But in retrospect I really should've reviewed cause it sort of set up a lot for the future of the Dane Maddock series. The lore deepens significantly and we move beyond the, quite frankly, boring Dominion (although I doubt we've seen the last of them).
Many of the same problems as with all the other Maddock books remain; it's a collectathon where they have to race against an evil organization to collect all the pieces first or the world is doomed! In this case it's Noah's stones which is mystical artifacts that... do... things. I dunno, most of this is pretty thin, quite frankly. But it's a very nice little mix of biblical stories and other mythologies that show that David Wood, at the very least, does his research in an attempt to tie all these loose threads together.
Exactly how he's going to keep weaving this story before he runs out of myths.
Probably my biggest complaint with this book comes from the fact that these books don't feel very connected. It never really feels like there's a thread from the last book. Sure, they talk about what happened and the same characters show up but the plot feels so standalone it's almost weird. It does try to weave a narrative but even the characters brush past events in an effort to, I'm guessing, save words. Even if it does leave the reader in the dark for a lot of it. Not gonna lie, I do not remember a lot from previous entries. Quest is a complete mystery to me now and I'd be hard pressed to remember what Buccaneer was about so it wouldn't hurt if every so often, when talking about past adventures, Maddock and Bones actually regaled the asker, as well as the audience, with their previous exploits.
Instead it's casually waved away with "Oh, we might have come across it once or twice in the past." Thanks, that cleared it up.
It's especially aggravating in this one cause it comes up multiple times. And never adequately explained.
All of that said, though, I still greatly enjoyed this outing. It's a quick, easily digestible read that won't demand too much of your brain capacity. Perfect for a lazy day on the beach where it's easy to pick up, easy to put down. Don't expect too much and it's just perfect.
1362. After his ship sinks in a storm, a Templar Knight barely makes it to remote land with the last of the holy relics they were trying to save.
When someone assaults Bones’s grandfather for information about a family treasure, Maddock and Bones follow the clues to retrieve it.
In Atlanta, history professor Dima Zafrini receives a small package from a distant colleague containing an envelope with scrapes of old vellum. Before she can research it, a strange man shows up asking about her friend.
Footnote: 1) These two sure attract, and flirt with, a lot of girls in their adventures. No wonder they all are mad at them. Let Bones and Maddock settle down with one each. And maybe have more male assistants, etc. show up with interesting information.
Fave scenes: Dima’s paranoid switch, the hidden Vatican room, lions in camp and using the Templar stone.

The action was good, the story kept moving along nicely.
some of the scenarios and the the science fiction part of it was a bit unrealistic with the stones and how they act and the way that the secret passageways popped up and opened. . also the way Bones was perving on Dima through the book was a bit of a turn off.
This is the first book in this series that I have read, and I did like that it was kind of similar to Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt series. A nice light reading.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Completely over-the-top adventure story of a search for Noah's Ark, with lots of zany coincidences, some big, butch men firing guns at baddies, and some cringey one-liners. It's part of a series but can be read alone.
Ark is not exactly high literature but it is a fun and quick, non-taxing read.
Ah,Dane and the fellows find trouble again! This time they are looking for Noahs ark, but are they in the right place? It is a fast moving story.Jeffrey Kafer is the perfect narrator.“I was given this free review copy audiobook and have voluntarily left this review.
Each story in this series is such a fun adventure. Never a dull moment with fast paced action, danger, mystery and humor! Great audio narrator Highly recommended
Ark by Dave Wood is a fast paced action thriller including secret societies, religious relics, treasure hunting, and so much more. The Audiobook is done very well by the professional work of Jeffrey Kafer; you cannot go wrong with his narration. The book kept me engaged and wanting to know how the adventure was going to end and how many people would lose their lives in the process.
If you asked me to give a quick summary of the book, think a blending of “The Da Vinci Code”, “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, and “National Treasure” wrapped into one book where the main characters are previous Navy seals. The book involves a team of people searching for Noah’s Ark taking the characters across many different locations all the while people are looking to stop or kill them at every turn. If this sounds interesting to you, I would recommend you pick up the book and have a read.
Ark is the seventh book in the Dane Maddock Adventures, and it should be noted that this is the first book I have read in the series. So this review is based only on my knowledge of it and not the overall series. With that said, I overall enjoyed the book and it does not appear that one needs to have familiarity of the previous books in the series. I’m sure the characters may be better understood having read the others books. If you are looking for a theologically correct book, I would say look elsewhere. If you are looking for a fictional book that includes aspects of Christian or Biblical accounts, you may enjoy this book. Again, think “Raiders of the Lost Ark” from a depth of theology; which really means there is none. It is clear the author has researched Biblical and other non-Biblical religious texts and blends them into this story.
Wood seems to be experienced in writing this type of genre (being this is #7), and I liked his ability to describe the scene well enough for me to get a good picture of the action/adventure. I liked the various locations, languages, and overall revealing of the plot over the entire tale. In some of the situations I would have liked to have had a deeper understanding of some of the characters (which may have been in previous books) along with more backstory details. I would have also like to have had some description or side details when the team traveled from one location to another; often covering thousands of miles. Maybe some details or side events occurring while going from one place to another. In most cases, travel to other locations consisted of a few sentences saying such happened with no depth or extra details. More like they were able to use a portal to get from one place to another rather quickly. I just did not get a feeling for the length of time such travel would have taken.
Some of the writing and humor seemed more immature than what I would have expected coming from characters who were seals or other highly educated characters. Although the book contained no vulgar language (which for some reason I would have expected from a seal), the book does have sexual overtones and innuendos in various paces. The two main characters would be sent to Human Resources (HR) more than once for their comments of many of the women characters. I do have to give the author credit for being able to tell the story without having to include vulgar language and making the book overall safe for a younger audience.
Let me speak to the narration of the audiobook. Mr. Kafer, as always, does an excellent job telling this story as he has in others. The audio is clear and crisp, and Mr. Kafer’s voice is rich and fluid. There were no audio artifacts heard throughout the book; no recorded pops, clicks, or swallows. I have many others book by this Audible narrator, and often would buy a book he voices even if it is not in my preferred genre. That is how much I enjoy his ability to narrate books. With over 330 total books already narrated, I recommend any book that interests you read by him. Thank you for making a very good book even better through your narration.

I love Maddock and Bones, I sometimes forget until I read/ or listen to another story and then I'm right back in the thick of things with them. The one liners are hilarious and definite laugh of loud moments. The story is intriguing and entertaining. It has a great mix of mystery, action and humour. David Wood's writing always entertains and keeps my attention until the last page.
Who's more fun in action/adventure: Cussler, Indiana Jones, or Dane and Bones? Glad there is no reason to choose, but simply enjoy as many as I can! David Wood has a prolific imagination and I have enjoyed every one of the Dane and Bones that I've read. Each stands alone very well. This one entwines known written record with fantasy and real creativity. See publisher's blurb for plot clues and skip the spoilers to get the greatest enjoyment of the suspense. The humor will have you snorting your coffee when you least expect it! I used to get them in print, but the guys just keep liberating them from my shelves. Now I try to get them as audio. Jeffrey Kafer is the best when it comes to audio performing these or any other action/adventure novels. This audiobook had you engaged from the beginning, I really need to go back and listen to this series from the start, not that you in anyway need to in order to enjoy this book, it's just the dynamic between Dane and Bones is so intriguing, I just want to know how their relationship started! They're so opposite but compliment each other so well. You can't pigeonhole this book, it's a mystery, a suspense and part paranormal, heck I don't know what it is, it's a mash up and it works!
In this story our treasure hunters are on a quest to find the Ark, while relentlessly being pursued by an organization called the Trident who’s on a quest to find the Ark first!
Unwittingly caught up in this race against time is archaeologist Dima Zafrani who joins forces with Bones and Dane to find the holy relic before Trident.
I really enjoy the humorous banter between Dane and Bones, it always comes in at just the right time to ease the tension.
This audiobook is read by Jeffrey Kafer and as always he does a bang up job.

Narrator Jeffrey Kafer is the best! When it comes to audio performing, he is truly a voice actor. From male characters to female, or anything! -The characters are always fantastically performed! As expected, characters emotions and action scenes were wonderfully done! (*˘︶˘*).。.:*♡
This was my first taste of the Dane Maddock series. Being the seventh in the Dane Maddock series, it is a great story with an incredible amazing ending. Having no previous knowledge or familiarity with the characters, it did not disappoint. You get a sense of their lives, careers and family life. I loved the writing, descriptions to the point you could imagine the surroundings. To those checking out adventure books, it's best to read publisher's summary and skip the reviews altogether. You will not want to come across any spoilers. (´• ω •`) ♡ I wished the story was longer; as in "not ever ending". It starts with a quest to find a family treasure. After Bone's grandfather is attack by men wanting to know about the family secret, Dane Maddock and his partner Uriah "Bones" look into the family's treasure and legend. Clues lead them on a quest to find Noah's ark. Fast paced action thriller with humor, romance, religious artifacts, treasure hunting, secret societies, and mystery. I do however, want to go through it again. The writer mixes historical facts with fiction. Left me wanting to know a lot more about these facts, and always on the edge of what would happen next. I couldn't put it down. An amazing book for Teens, Young Adults and adventure lovers・*:..。o○☆
Note: I had done my review on audible. I really thought this book was exciting and been checking the rest. This is another one of those great writers I want to own all their books.
Maddock and Bone are back again for another adventure. It is a little more personal this time as it involves family. Bone's grandfather was attacked by men demanding that he turn over information about the family secret. This begins the boys adventure to locate Noah's Ark of the Old Testament.
Maddock and Bones head to a remove site of a Civil War battlefield to find a stone. There adventure is very off beat as a group of men attack Bones and then proceed to hunt him. Seriously? They think they are going to catch and kill Bones? Better men have tried and failed. The boys also continue their hunt in Africa. They are joined in the adventure by Dima, an archaeologist. New love interest for Bones?
A new enemy makes an appearance.... the Trident. I am sure we will see them again.
We also learn the fate of Dane and Angel.
Fast paced and full of action and chuckles from this reader. Another hit out of the ballpark by David Wood.
In this book Maddock and Bones joins an archeologist searching for Noah's Ark. It is a little bit weird that I like these books as much as I do, but I think they are a kind of guilty pleasure. Also, they are potato chips books, as in you always want one more. The characters of Maddock and Bones are very, very stereotypical ex navy seals, and somewhat one dimensional. Each book is based on a historical myth, and they are sometimes a little bit repetitive. But the action and adventure is great and very fast paced, and the books are enjoyable.
I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy of this and and I'm very thankful, what a fantastic read, so often people say this is a real page turner and I read this in one sitting.Well I did read it in one sitting and it is a real page turner I could not put it down. Maddock and Bones with help from a young archeologist Dima find themselves on a wild treasure hunt for the Ark ,does it it exist or is it just a myth you'll have to read to find out, they enlist the help of their team and also Tam (CIA) all the while being pursued by a new adversary "Trident" again hell bent on changing the World. Some interesting twists and turns and also some great character development for Maddock and Bones. Totally recommended , keep up the great work David looking forward to the next instalment

This was my first exposure to the Dane Maddock series and it was pretty good. It's a lighthearted adventure, akin to Indiana Jones. By lighthearted, I don't mean to say there weren't serious moments of danger or action. I mean that the characters don't have a lot of depth to them and the story feels rather formulaic. It doesn't suck, but it's not earth-shattering either. Kafer's narration was dependable, as always. Recommended for anyone who enjoys adventure-type novels.
I was rather torn between giving this book 3 or 4 stars. I went with 4 because it was entertaining but if you're looking for realism then you need to look elsewhere. There was lots of action and the archeological aspect was fun but, again, it was quite farfetched. There were few editorial oversights but I've read books that had worse. They were annoying but not plentiful enough that they were too distracting. The story was good enough that I'll likely read the next book should one come out.
Ever heard of the Noah stones? Dane and Bones team up with archaeologist Dima Zafrani in an exciting adventure finding a cryptic manuscript, magical stones and an artifact that has been hidden for centuries. The evil group,Trident, is hot on their tail . This is a great non-stop thriller you won't want to miss! I received this book in exchange for an honest review
The newest and best Maddock and Bones adventure yet! Ark gives us the chance to delve a bit more into the personal lives of Dane and Bones. An attack on Bones' grandfather sends the duo on a quest into a Bonebrake family legend and further into one of history's mysteries, Noah's ark. This book was exciting and hard to put down!
