Book Too: Because of Grandmother is a continuation on the lifestyle that was read about in Book One: Sporadic Memories. From the granddaughter’s perspective, she goes back on the lifestyle she was raised in, by giving thanks to her grandmother, who raised such an incredible woman … her mother. Book Too: Because of Grandmother is a novel about a lifestyle that needs to be continued.

This book seems like it will be the exact same as Book two, but it isn't. It sounds so much different reading it from the granddaughter's viewpoint than from the grandson's. The experiences are the same but different. The recipes are different, the poems are words in one and music in the other. These books are just so different from any I have ever read or heard of. So creative and heartwarming. I am sure I'll read these books yearly.
I was given a copy of this book by Ali Marsman and in return I offer a non-biased review.
I greatly enjoyed reading this book. One of my favorite genres are books that bring you in so close you feel like you know the people inside, and you forget that what you are reading is fiction. This book does exactly that.
Ali has a great imagination. This book is told from the viewpoint of a granddaughter, who is looking back on her amazing childhood, filled with the love of her mother and grandmother, and the magic they brought forth by just being themselves.
As she writes this book, the granddaughter speaks about how hard it was to lose each one in turn, and how she remembers them and all the life lessons she was taught, which she now passes on to her daughter and son. Traditions run strong in this family.
Writing from the same spot where her grandmother used to write, you can feel the emotions playing in her heart; sadness that her mother and grandmother are no longer there, thankfulness for all they taught her, and above all, love. Love for family, love for each other, love baked into apple pies.
A sweet, comfy read - this is a perfect book for a rainy day, or a winter's day when you can burrow under a quilt with a mug of hot chocolate and hopefully a kitten or puppy by your side, and just enjoy the magic.
Never knew the book to be this amazing. I must say Ali is really an exceptional writer, the world really need to read books like these. I was underrating it when I clicked on the book link posted by Precious, but I am so glad she recommended such nice books to readers. Would love to get a copy for my friend soon a a birthday present, I am sure she's going to love it.
