It's my first book by J.J. Harper and the first one in the Redemption series.
The blurb made me want to read this one. I'm not a big fan of second-chances romance stories, but I needed to read this one. It was just too tempting.
The way Wolff chose to break up with Gage 12 years ago was really hurtful. It just broke my heart! And Gage's! Wolff was so afraid of his feelings and chose to end it quick. And in an awful way!
12 years later he is faced with his past. He's going to work with Gage, who will be his boss now, but first he tries to reach out to him on Facebook. If I were Gage I would have never accepted his friendship request. I just don't think Wolff deserved any of his time, but this shows how much Gage has changed. He was a good man and he was ready to accept the situation.
It was great that Gage had Banner as his best friend. I absolutely loved their friendship and the way they dissected everything. They were able to talk about everything and what's better than knowing you always have a friend to confide to?
Wolff also has a best friend. For years. Wolff moves to London and while he struggles to accept his new job, he must face his past, the horrible way he dumped Gage and what happened after they broke up.
As much as I enjoyed the writing, I wanted more grovelling from Wolff. He was sorry, he finally understood the pain he caused, and what it cost Gage, but I really wanted to see him win Gage's trust again.
This was pretty light, even if there are some painful flashbacks from the past. The story continues in the second book, Gage.

My goodness, I love the idea of the story. But the execution... mmhh, No. It's just too fast. Well, I know this is short story. But for this kind of story, I think it shouldn't be this fast. Gage is too forgiving. Wolff needs to grovel really bad. And I didn't see it. Maybe I'm just that kind of woman. *shrug*

Must just be me but I don't get all the five stars for this one. Yes, the idea was a great one but the execution, not so much. It was too short a story to solve the kind of past these two had and a couple of conversations don't just erase something like that. I liked both MCs but didn't buy their new relationship.

REGRETS AND HAPPINESS
This is the shameful behavior of one man when he was too young and too confused. He committed a grievous, regretful action to Gage. Will they be able to rise above it. Wolff regrets what he did, unaware of the long term damage left in his wake. This is their journey after the incident and where life brings them back together. I loved this story. I'm off to read book #2 GAGE. Can't Wait To See where life takes them. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!!

Wolff Mannheim scheint es geschafft zu haben. In London zieht er seinen Traumjob in der Finanzwelt an Land. Doch das böse Erwachen kommt noch, bevor er seinen ersten Tag in der neuen Firma zugebracht hat. Einer der Juniorpartner des Unternehmens ist Gage Norton. Der Mann, dem er vor zwölf Jahren das Her zgebrochen und ihn vor all ihren Freuden gedemütigt hat.
Und diese Demütigung und der Schmerz gingen bei Gage tiefer, als Wolff es sich nur ansatzweise erträumen konnte. Doch Gage hat, nach vielen Stolpersteinen, seinen Weg gemacht und ist zu einem erfolgreichen Finanzanalysten aufgestiegen. Sein Ruf in der Branche ist ausgezeichnet und er umgibt sich nur noch mit Menschen, die ihm gut tun und denen er bedingungslos vertrauen kann. Und Wolff gehört definitiv nicht dazu.
Für Gage ist es - verständlicherweise - schwierig mit Wolff umzugehen. Und auch Wolff hadert natürlich mit der ganzen Situation. Dabei händelt es Gage meist sehr professionell. Er ist eben nur nicht willig mehr als ein Kollege für Wolff zu sein. Doch dessen Präsenz lässt Gage natürlich nicht kalt und die Gefühle von einst kann er nicht einfach ignorieren.
Nach einigen Aussprachen und Selbstreflexionen scheint sich ihr Verhältnis wieder zu normalisieren und auch Wolff kann sich dem neuen Gage einfach nicht entziehen. Doch es bleibt schwierig und gebrochenes Vertrauen ist kaum mehr zu kitten.Und das ist für mich auch die Hauptkritik an dem Buch. Gage fand ich toll und er hat sofort mein Herz erobert. Wolff ist natürlich der Badboy in der Geschichte. Das resultiert natürlich an seinem Verhalten in der Vergangenheit und wie furchtbar er zu Gage war. Aber Wolff ist ein Charakter, der sich ändert und der eine positive Wandlung durchmacht.
Jedoch ging es mir bei dieser Geschichte etwas zu glatt und zu einfach. Eigentlich bin ich kein Freund von zu vielen Verwicklungen und Dramen. Aber wenn nicht hier, wann dann? Da hat es sich die Autorin ein wenig zu einfach gemacht, auch wenn sie tief in die Psyche ihrer Helden eingedrungen ist. Trotzdem hat mir da etwas der Spannungsbogen gefehlt und ein, zwei Konflikte wären passend gewesen. Aber möglicherweise hat sie ja Herausforderungen im Folgeband eingebaut.

This book could have definitely used a good edit to correct missing words and improve sentence flow.
Now, to the elephant in the room, Wolff. I disliked him at the beginning of the book and despised him by the end. What he did to Gage was inexcusable, and to say it was done because he loved Gage, made no sense.
By Wolff’s own admission, he hasn’t given Gage or what he did a thought for the past twelve years. Now, Wolff wants to apologize, but makes it about himself instead of Gage. He also claims to love Gage. Songs, books, and movies have been written about such toxic love.
Gage overcame the past and has a life filled with friends and a job he loves. Wolff’s reappearance brings all the pain back front and center. He forgives Wolff and feels better about himself. This should have been the end. Closure. Done and dusted.....but
The train wreck continues. Gage is suddenly ready for a relationship with Wolff. Give me a wolf shifter book any day. They are closer to reality.

Gah, that was bad. Sophomoric writing and waaaaaassy too many exclamation points. Plus, totally unrealistic plot. I stopped when the victim started apologizing to the perpetrator.

I loved this book! JJ Harper's writing gets better with every new book.
Wolff is exceedingly happy to be offered a new job in London but his happiness turns to trepidation when he realises that his first love Gage, who he was too ashamed to admit he loved, not only works for the same company, but will in actual fact be his superior. Twelve years ago he played a terrible prank on Gage and has not seen him since that night and has no idea of the implications of his actions. Gage cannot believe it when he sees the name of the man who is taking his old position at the company because it's the man who's terrible break up prank nearly cost him his life all those years ago. Wolff reaches out to him via Facebook and days he wants to explain but Gage is so filled with hate for the man that he says no. Over the following weeks both the men find it extremely difficult to work together and to ignore the fact that they are still drawn to each other and with the help from a few colleagues and friends they gradually begin to talk again which of course leads to more...
I really loved these two men and their story and although I found that Gage perhaps forgave too easily, I was really happy with the story but the book ended too quickly. I want more of these men! The background characters were wonderful too and I can't wait to read their stories which I'm sure will be coming soon!

I read the newer version of this book, that has been re-released this year.
I enjoyed this one. It shows how one action can have serious repercussions for the parties included.
I like the character arc of Wolff. At the start of the book he was cocky and a little unlikeable. He truely believed he had done a bad thing but didn't really think much more than that. He had the ability to put it out of this mind and not think about it for years, it was only coming across Gage again that it bought it all up to the surface. I liked how he went through a number of different emotions during the book from cocky to ashamed and repentant.
I liked Gage too. He was such a strong character. His past was hard to read, but he had also built his life back up into a place where he was happy. He was standoffish at the start but I did feel that he forgave and moved on with Wolff pretty quickly once they talked it out. He trusted him and I would have thought with their past that he would have a least some reservations, even mild ones about it, but he had none.
I love Gage's friend Banner and can't wait fo this book. Theo I'm not quite sure of yet, but we will see how it goes

Wolff is one heck of a ride. You engage with every bout of emotion Gage and Wolff encounter. Hate, fear, deceit, sadness, regret, and love all combine, epically producing a journey you don’t want to miss.
Twelve years ago…
Wolff Mannheim is in love, but he can’t be, not with another guy. Fear and self-doubt, along with serious denial, lead Wolff to take unspeakable action – totally FUBARing his life. He spends the years that follow suppressing what he did and pretending he is fine.
Gage Norton is ecstatic. He is in love! His life is magnificent with a bright future. Until one night Wolff, the man who has stolen his heart, shatters it all. Gage moves forward with a tenuous hold on life. Thanks to his BFF, Banner, Gage gets a second chance.
Present day…
Wolf now accepts his sexuality and, from all appearances, is happy. That is until an offer for his dream job lands in his lap and he learns that Gage is a partner. Suddenly the weight of regret, sadness, and self-condemnation bubble to the surface.

Wolff is the bad guy, yet he is my favorite. Yes, what he did was shitty. Yes, he deserves to suffer the consequences of his actions. However, you understand his reasoning while not condoning it. You ache for the guy as the years of regret and sorrow spill forth while he takes ownership for his actions.
You wonder if Gage is being too quick to forgive Wolff. However, their connection never left, and Wolff is a different person. Heck, for that matter they both are. Twelve years have passed, yet they are still alone. Maybe, there is a reason for this. Who knows? Ms. Harper has only begun Wolff and Gage’s journey, with more revelations to come.
I cannot recommend Wolff by JJ Harper strong enough. This relatively quick, second chance, enemies to lovers read has it all! The chemistry between Wolff and Gage is amazing making the rest fall into place. I am so ready to continue where their reconnection leads. Bring. It. On!

This is my first book from Miss JJ and I could not be more pleased with the outcome.
Although there were a few times I wanted to throw my Kindle into the wall and I wanted to hate Wolff, I couldn't!
What Wolff did was so mean, but he was young and stupid, and that's why I could forgive him for it.
JJ know what it takes to pull you into the story and before you know it, it's over.
Now I have to wait impatiently for the next one in the series!

Wolff is book 1 in the Redemption series and I suggest, if possible, to have Gage (book 2) already in hand, so you can read them back to back, it does make for a better experience since Gage starts immediately where Wolff ends. Also, this review contains spoilers, so you're warned.
Wolff did a very bad thing to Gage twelve years before when they were still seniors in high school, and he repressed the memories until he found out they were going to be working together in the firm that just hired Wolff. Gage isn't willing to forgive Wolff for what he did, but he decides to be the bigger man and work with Wolff.
Okay, this is a novella, so you know things are going to go quickly. While we get the full story of what Wolff did to Gage, we get it in chunks, which made it less impactful, in my opinion. Still, I can see why Gage reacted the way he did and I was mad at Wolff for being so flippant at first, until he finally put himself in Gage's shoes. I don't really think he made enough amends for Gage to forgive him, but again, this being a novella it made sense Ms. Harper decided not to dwell on it endlessly and moved things along. What I wasn't all that happy about was how fast they declared they loved each other and how quick Gage decided to trust Wolff again, especially after how bad things were for Gage after what Wolff did when they were younger. Yes, he was a dumb teenager, but he knew what he was doing. /rant
Despite my feelings about this, it was undeniable that Gage and Wolff had amazing chemistry and it was nice seeing them together as a couple for longer than 5 minutes.
Even if the first part was kind of heartbreaking and I wasn't all happy about how fast they got back together, the story was engaging and I liked that Wolff made an effort to be there for Gage when he needed it.
Recommendable.

Good read.
Liked the story line but forgiveness came too easy. They needed to talk first. That said, I like how they mixed humor with their lust. Well written and edited. JJ Harper always gives readers a good story that is a joy to read. I look forward to reading Theo's story and Banner's. Maybe Josh's also although may be part of tone of the other two characters.

The second-chance romance is among my favorite tropes, and I liked a lot of the elements of this one. It’s nice to have enough time passed between when Wolff and Gage knew each other in school and now, where they’re both successful, well-adjusted adults. Given the dynamics of their split (I’ll spare the spoilers, but it wasn’t amicable, and Wolff behaved abominably) it made me just that extra little bit happier that Gage is even more successful than Wolff. A lot of this second-chance hinged on Wolff owning up to how bad his behavior in the past really was, and exactly how bad the consequences of his choices had been for Gage. To say his actions had catastrophic impacts is not to exaggerate, and I liked that no one, even Wolff’s best friend, and eventually, Wolff himself, let him off the hook for it. Tbh, I wouldn’t ever have forgiven Wolff, but I’m happy for Gage that he did. There were a few rough edges in the story for me-- I thought the way Wolff treated his best friend Theo was callous, even cruel, at times, and I admit that the author’s deeply held love of exclamation marks was a bit jarring for me stylistically, but overall, I found these characters to be engaging enough that I’m looking forward to more of their story.

It's a redemption all right. A whole heap of redemption. And really, just check the number of pages - this is not a long novel, so not that much... build-up before anything happens. One day, Wolff was like the enemy number one, he made Gage, I swear, vomit. That's how bad are his problems. But I guess there is no better way to heal the old wounds than by the person that made, obvs.
This was not really a book for me. But as I tend to say, it was short, I was about 68% through when I closed it and thought I will probably not finish. I almost deleted it. Sorry but I do like my build-up... I was not even sure whether I was angry at Wolff (because what he did all those years were bad, like, abusing the most intimate trust bad) or at Gage (because 12 freaking years?! of course he changed and you can pretty clearly see he didn't even need to because what he did was out of fear, a mistake, instead of a product of his character, so to speak).
Why I finished this book? Because I did not have time to start a new one and this one was there, waiting. Sometimes, that's all there is and all that's needed.

Reconnecting and Forgiveness
This book is so good . Wolffe did something very stupid and hurtful to Gage when they were 18. He hasn’t really thought about it since but buried it way deep down. It all comes rushing back to the forefront though when he realizes his new job is the position opened up by Gage making partner at his firm. Gage isn’t ready to face Wolffe at first and keeps freezing him out. The anxiety and despair he lived with immediately after their very humiliating breakup doesn’t go so easily back into the box he has stuffed it in. But when he notices Wolffe is shutting down from his refusal to allow him to talk and apologize, he realizes his feelings might not be all hate after all. This is a fabulous book about forgiveness and redemption, moving on from the past and living in the present and making a new future. We aren’t who we were when we were young and stupid. We mature when we realize we can move beyond that. This book has all kinds of feels!

4 1/2 star read. I enjoyed this short read by JJ. Wolff did something horrendous to his friend Gage twelve years earlier. He loved Gage but was to afraid to admit to anyone including himself that he was gay. Wolff finds the job of his dreams and is horrified when doing some research on the company his superior will be Gage. Wolff reaches out to Gage through social media. Gage accepts his request but is adamant he will have nothing to do with Wolff and will just do his job properly and not let being his superior affect their work. Still unable to ever forgive Wolff for what he did to him all those years ago ruining his life forever losing him all his friends and family. I received a copy (thank you) for an honest review. You’ll fall in love with both Wolff and Gage and feel all the emotions as they work through their tragic past. I can’t wait to read more on Wolff and Gage as they work so well together.

Gage and Wolff ��️
Heartbreak, hurt and Second chances!!! This booked wrecked me, in the best way!!! Wow, Gage.... his story is going to break your heart, I don't think I've ever read such a beautifully broken yet forgiving character before.....just the fact that he's able to forgive Wolff and move on proves just how strong he is. Wolff's character is equally just as good, his remorse, pain and guilt is so palpable it literally jumps off the pages and grabs your heart. This couple is truly beautiful to read and I can't wait for more from them. This was just the beginning of their new journey together, letting go of the past and there is a lot of information to gather in such a short story but the way J.J. Harper has written this makes you want so much more from these guys.... this is a must read IMO!!!! On to the next book in this series ❤️

The book I read is titled Home For You. Obviously the author has renamed it from when it was first published.
This is a story, set over two books. I’m not sure why, this is not a huge book to read.
Wolff humiliated his boyfriend, Gage, just a few weeks before they were due to start University when they were both eighteen. Then went on his way. Twelve years later he successfully secures his dream job in London.
Gage has just been offered a partnership in the company he has worked for since getting an internship at University. This means he has to oversee the new recruit. Unfortunately the new recruit is Wolff.
I enjoyed the book but it felt a little rushed.

Redemption?
It’s hard to rate this book, I was debating between 3 and 4. I finally settled on 3 because while it’s well written (meaning I don’t need to read the same sentence numerous times before understanding it), I don’t like the excuse that was used for what Wolff did to Gage. They kept saying he was a kid when he did it. He was eighteen, an adult, not a kid, and what he did was CRUEL and calculated. He claimed that he loved Gage at the time. If he could do something like that to someone he loved, I don’t want to know what he would’ve done to someone he hated. That’s not a good person and Gage deserved someone better. There was not really much redemption either. All Wolff did was, after twelve years, finally realized his “prank” hurt Gage deeply.

Intense, emotional and brilliantly written.
Brilliant story of remorse and redemption, second chances and love and hope. Twelve years had passed since the humiliating incident for Gage had his world falling apart. Twelve years since Wolff had thought of what he did, having locked it away tightly. Lots of angst, soul searching and difficult conversations have Wolff and Gage reconnecting. A very emotional, intense story. What Wolff did was almost unforgivable, but with JJ's wonderful characterisation, Wolff faced his past and owned his actions. Looking forward so much to next book.

Another great book by JJ Harper. I thoroughly enjoyed Wolff, it was full of angst and emotion, along with hot steamy bits. I can't wait for more of these characters and would love to hear the secondary characters stories.
Twelve years is a long time to hate someone but it's also a long time to be without that special person. Twelve years ago Wolff abused Gage's trust, shutting down their relationship in a humiliating way, now he is back in Gage's life, working for him. Can Gage get past what happened and the spiral it set him on? Will love rule over hate?

Hmmm this story had a good plot but it wasnt fleshed out. One conversation was enough to seemingly come to terms with a trauma that stayed with our main character for 12 years. I didnt find it believable. I liked Theo during the first half off the book. He was basically saying what we were all thinking and suddenly his character changes. Also...wolff is such a damn hypocrite. Getting angry at Theo for something he himself was doing. There was something about the writing that annoyed me...i didnt like every actiom being detailed. Its one of my pet peeves. It didnt flow nicely.

I wasn’t able to dislike Wolff even though what he did to Gage was despicable. Gage was a sweetheart, easily likable. Both characters were sassy and funny. Their best friends were at times sweet and pains in the butt.
Sweet story with some angst, just enough to keep the book from being to sappy. Ends abruptly, good thing I have the second book queued up.
