It’s 1784 in France and the plaque is killing so many, Klaas is an angel or guardian on Earth who had previously given up on the world. He hears the prayer of a dying woman above all others and goes to her. Klaas embarks on his allotted task of looking after children with no future.

My heart just about exploded from the compassion when reading about this young woman on her deathbed and the fear she had for her son. It was so beautifully written. Then later on with Karin, I am not ashamed to say a few tears escaped. It was great meeting Caim and Ace again as well, even if the circumstances weren’t always full of happiness.

This is a beautiful story, one that makes you truly believe in Father Christmas, especially one as hot as Klaas! 😉 The realistic emotions he goes through makes it special as well, showcasing how his his character is so extraordinary. I particularly enjoyed the way everything gets tied up neatly and explained so carefully and thoroughly.

A fantastic seasonal read that everyone can enjoy at any time of the year. A great lesson to learned too...to live our lives to the fullest!

A very thought provoking and original conception of the origins of Papa Noel! Being primarily Klaas's musings through the ages as his understanding of humanity increases. His faith comes through despite the times he doubts, while feeling the very human emotion of anger. What also comes through the character is his continued innocence and naivety coupled with his strength of heart. I will be re-reading this story from time to time. I found it fascinating.
