एक पल चुप्पी साधने के बाद फिर बोले, ‘‘लगता है, प्रातः भ्रमण को निकल रहे हो?’’
‘‘नहीं’’, मैंने कहा, ‘‘नीरू भाभी की एक चिट्ठी है, पोस्ट ऑफिस में डालने जा रहा हूँ। बहुत ही जरूरी चिट्ठी है।’’
‘‘चिट्ठी! किसकी चिट्ठी बताया? छोटी बहू की!’’
फटिकदा के चेहरे का भाव जैसे आमूल परिवर्तित हो गया हो।
बोले, ‘‘बड़मातल्ला अपने माँ के पास भेज रही हैं?’’
‘‘हाँ, मगर।’’
वे बोले, ‘‘देखूँ।’’
मैंने चिट्ठी दी। दो-चार पंक्तियाँ पढ़ते ही पता नहीं, फटिकदा को क्या हुआ कि चिट्ठी को उन्होंने चिंदी-चिंदी कर दी। बोले, ‘‘इस चिट्ठी को भेजने स
