Love is in the air...
I received an advanced copy of this book.
How I Met My Other - True Stories, True Love is an anthology edited by Arielle Haughee and offers a glimpse into the hearts of over a dozen storytellers. Each reflects upon the island of being alone, the mainland of finding love, and the bridge between. Not a sappy-sweet read, the stories cover different times, cultures, stages of life, sexual preferences, socioeconomic backgrounds and interesting characters. Additionally, the writers themselves range from novices to award winning published authors. Some stories are so well crafted, I was left wanting more! Even those that are more rudimentary illustrate that we all have our story to tell, and when it comes to love, the story is dear to our heart. I’m reminded that stories of meeting our soulmate can be stories of adventure and of taking chances. Is finding your mate easy and dreamy? No! Remember, these are true stories and that includes all of the awkward and embarrassing moments that intertwine with the hope and joy we do typically associate with finding “The One.” As I read this book, memories surfaced and gave me pause as I recalled how I met “my other.” Whether you are looking for your other, are just fine on your own, or have already met your special someone, I recommend this book and believe it will give you pause as well.

I recently finished reading an advance copy of How I Met My Other, and really enjoyed it!

I’m a newlywed, several years after losing my husband of 30 years to cancer. Losing a loved one, grieving, and finding new love are all interwoven into my life story. So, I felt a strong emotional connection and found the stories heartwarming. I also noticed several recurring themes. Regardless of age, occupation, location, life style, social status and other variables, these folks were all looking for love, companionship, fun, loyalty and commitment. These fun and entertaining episodes about finding lasting love will bring a bright spot into your day! This quick read book would be a great Valentine’s Day or Anniversary gift!
