"[ Rock Climbing Anchors ] offers a complete and profusely illustrated course of instruction that will prove to be of life-saving value for all rock climbing enthusiasts from the absolute novice to the seasoned professional." -Midwest Book Review For this new edition of Rock Climbing Anchors, climber and writer Topher Donahue carefully reviewed each technique and lesson, making them even easier to understand and learn. Key updates
I highly recommend this book for the newer trad leader and/or aspiring climbing guides. The information is clear, the pictures are helpful, and the general mode of thinking/problem-solving throughout is realistic, efficient, and safe.
As always, I would cross-reference other resources - there’s a couple small points in this book I don’t agree with (i.e. clipping an autoblock to the leg loop when rappelling - there’s a potential to flip, just clip it to the belay loop)
In my opinion, this is required reading for anyone wanting to learn trad climbing. The photos of placements, and especially the ones of bad placements (always clearly labeled), are an incredibly valuable resource.
