Enemies at birth. Soulmates at first touch.Cindra is running hot, a trait that renders a Nepherian female untouchable and ineligible for a mate pairing.
Celso, revered ice warrior and protector of the Kelvinian people, needs to take a mate before he can ascend to the throne. Problem is...no female within the realm can withstand his chilling touch.
When Cindra is captured by an ice brute with a soothing touch and scorching kisses, she’s tempted.
After a lifetime of longing for physical contact, how will two enemies who’ve found solace in each other’s arms protect their love without igniting a war between their worlds?
Ms. London gives us a futuristic take on Cinderella where our girl has the ability to start and control fire. I thought it was funny that the wicked stepmother’s name is EMBER. Cindra is found in the forbidden zone by Prince Celso, an ice warrior. He is naturally cold...so much so that his touch can blister his partner. Imagine their surprise when hot Cindra is able to touch ice cold Celso! While they are considered enemies it is obvious that they are made for each other. This is a wonderfully inventive story that appears to end on a cliffhanger. I hope we get to see what happens in the other part
I'm sad that this book was published in 2018 and there hasn't been another in this series. I loved the fact that Cindra and Celso balance each other out so perfectly -- she's a fire elemental who runs too hot and could harm others with her power, but he's a water elemental who runs so cold that he burns others with his ice and cannot touch others without hurting them. He cools down her fire and she is so warm that she is able to touch him, and he revels in that, being starved of another's touch. It made me feel that they are true mates.
I liked that Cindra isn't a meek miss despite practically being a slave in her home sector. She has spirit and heart and she doesn't let Celso get away with dictating to her. I also liked Celso's natural protectiveness towards her and that from the start whenever he sensed that she was fearful, he would reassure her that he meant her no harm.
The writing was a bit choppy at times and could have flowed better. I would have liked to know why there was a law that different elementals could not inter-marry. I also wanted to know what the real role of the council is, as they don't seem to regulate things in the various sectors (since women are treated differently in Celso and Cindra's sectors). Still, the overall focus was the romance and that was well done, so it's four stars from me.
From the very beginning Cindra and Celso were drawn to each other like they were made for each other. Celso never faltered in his word or action to protect, care for, and claim Cindra. He would die to protect her and would never let her go. I love the way his siblings rallied around him and the underlying story with another front her world hidden in Celso's world. Just enough background on the different regions to heighten their forbidden love, and not distract from the romance. Love the way also that she learned who her family was and did her thing to help defend her real family without taking away from her mates strength and desire to protect and defend her. They compliment and strengthen each other with neither feeling threatened by the other's power and strength. She could do everything but leave. I ordered this in print. I can't wait for it to arrive so I can read it again. . Please release the second book soon, after Losing Logan, lol.
I would've given 3 or 4 stars if Siera London tries to develop the plot and characters better. Instead of developing the plot, Siera London bullshit her way through the novel by writing 2D characters with flat personality and inconsistencies.
First of all, Cindra obviously cares about her stepfamily, but ten pages later, Cindra completely forgets about her stepfamily and have sex with Celso.
Second of all, Celso doesn't seem to be in love with Cindra, and he's more likely falls in lust with her simply because she tolerates his touch?? So how's that love?! I think Siera London mistaken lust for love.
Third of all, the villain comes out of nowhere. How is it possible that the villain suddenly pops out of nowhere and starts to do evil shit? Wouldn't it make more sense to have Celso's entire royal family as villain because of the foreshadowing?
I would've given this book 0 star, but I'm gonna be nice and give 1 star for Siera London's bullshit.
I can't wait for the nect book in this series. I didn't like the beginning it was so rush but because I like reqding new books to check the scene I got this book. I would have love to see the told that the story start after the bomb was drop and this is the new world from the after effects of it, every one that survive the bomb have change. I still like how the characters interact with one other. Yes i would tell a friend to this book. I hope in the next book we find out what happened to the world.
I don't give 5 stars often but this book was excellent! Romance and suspense mix and just a delight. I loved the spin on the classic tale and Avatar(cartoon). I fell in love with the two alphas Celos & Cindra. I relish when there is a strong female who can go to head with her man. If you dig fantasy with action and hot scenes read this book. You will not be disappointed. Siera, book #2! please
I read this as part of the Once Upon a Rebel Fairytale boxset. This sci-fi Cinderella retelling is a good story, and very interesting. I enjoyed it, and it has everything you could want from a fairytale, even a scifi one - a man and a woman finding each other through unusual circumstances, tension, fighting and, of course, love conquering all!
I enjoyed the concept of opposite elements go together. The initial set up was good and the story ends with you wondering what happens next. The dialog sucks, there are a lot of grammar mistakes, the author rushed through the character creation just to have sex scenes.
Love this paranormal take on Cinderella and how the elements can work together. Cindra was no shrinking violet, a female warrior ready to defend herself and eventually her man. Loved Celso and Cindra, two alphas fighting for the right to mate. Loved the back and forth dialogue with them and the sex scenes🔥. Five star ⭐️
Cells was investigating a security breach and discovered Cindra After just one look, he knew she was his mate. The story of their fight to stay together was amazing and I look forward to reading the rest of the series. Starting Luna as soon as I hit send on this review. Thanks, Siera London, for another perfect series beginning.
A quick read from Siera London. All Cindra wanted was to escape slavery in the mines. Little did she know that her fire would be quenched by a mate of ice. Looking forward to more from the series!
I read this book because the description reminded me of Cinderella...oh but this is not your childhood fairy tale. This story is jot, hot, hot! You will enjoy it! I can't wait for the sequel.
I really enjoyed reading this tale. It was short since it was part of a compilation but it packed quite a punch. I would love to read more about this amazing world.
2.75 Stars. KUB# 55. A paranormal retelling of the Cinderella fairytale laced with Avatar, The Last Airbender. In this dystopian futuristic society located in what was once the United States the people are segregated along elemental lines... earth, wind, fire and ice (water). Cindra is a Nepherian woman with a trait that raises her body's temperature to a degree that would burn or incinerate anyone or anything she touches. Cindra’s evil stepmother and sister have indentured her to work in a mind for over 12 seasons with no end to her enslavement in sight. As Cindra is attempting an escape, she inadvertently triggers an alarm in the Kelvinian sector causing her capture. She is captured by Prince Celso, a Kelvinian ice warrior whose touch freezes and destroys or debilitated anyone or anything he touches. Celso is in need of a mate before he can assend to the Kelvinian Throne, he and Cindra discover their combatibility and mutual attraction. It is a blah story as told.
I don't usually read fairy tale books but I found this one to be intriguing. In the beginning, the girl was making me angry but after a while, I started liking her. I enjoyed the play between her and her mate. I can't wait to read the next book. I received this book as a gift from the author and I am glad I did.
I loved How the author used the character and added her own spin. I like that Cindra and Celia were from different world and yet ended up together. I’m excited about the next book.
