Favorite Quotes:

“Kace, the baby whisperer,” Nico joked. Kace gave him a look that could have frozen hell.

… a nurse came moseying into the room. Kace knew her, of course, and he groaned softly. It was Annabelle Mason. She was eighty if she was a day and as slow as a sloth unless it came to gossip.

In addition to bad art, her mom also had a penchant for experimental furniture. There was the tiger print couch, complete with roaring tiger heads for sofa arms. Odd-shaped yellow-and-green leather accent chairs that looked like blobs of melting butter or the remnants of a bad cold.

He was like a big ice-cream sundae to a dieting woman. Delicious and very much wanted.

Her mom was in a Peter-and-her-against-the-world kind of mindset that didn’t allow for the possibility that she was marrying an anus wart.

She wouldn’t have gotten that answer right even with a multiple choice.

My Review:

I have barely scratched the surface on this prolific wordsmith’s body of work, but I have vastly enjoyed every Dolores Fossen book I have ever picked up. Her engaging small-town stories are laced with quirky homespun levity, feature likable and relatable characters, and are easy to fall into and a snap to follow. Each time I have read one of her books, I have experienced a strong craving to stop and read her entire listing. A Coldwater Christmas was one of her best and a second-chance, adult contemporary, small-town romance that was as highly amusing as it was actively paced. I smirked and giggle-snorted at the delightfully comical visuals her clever words effortlessly called to mind. Ms. Fossen has a lifer fangirl in me - unless she switches genres and starts writing about zombies.

I loved the conclusion to Ms. Fossen's Coldwater Creek series featuring the Laramie brothers! I've loved them all, but I think this one, with oldest brother, Sheriff Kace Laramie, and his ex-wife/only love Jana, is my favorite!

Ms. Fossen has a deft hand with supporting characters, creating this whole community of fleshed out people (and cows!) we meet in one book and revisit in another. So many entertaining, funny, lovable, admirable and pitiable extras in this series. They're as fun to get to know as the main characters.

A COLDWATER CHRISTMAS wasn't a heavy holiday story--it's set during the lead-up to Christmas--but it does have more of a mystery than the previous stories. With plenty of suspects--some a little unsettling, some outright funny. The conflict starts in the very first chapter when the Laramie brothers' estranged birth-father comes to town, and it goes on a twisty, fun journey that takes you to the ending resolution that everyone except Kace and Jana saw coming. Yummy love scenes, an adorable toddler and a very sexy hero make this a wonderfully entertaining read!

I've been enjoying Delores Fossen's Coldwater series since its inception, and she pulled out all the stops with this fourth novel in the series. While I did have a few issues with it, I found it to be the zaniest of her novels so far--it kept me going from amused to laughing out loud, and for the sheer enjoyment of reading it, it get 4 stars from this reader.

As second-chance romances go, this novel won me over from the get-go. This novel is eldest Laramie brother, Kace's story. He's the sheriff in small-town Coldwater, Texas. He's been divorced from his ex-wife, Jana, for years and although he's had no shortage of female company in his bed, he's not fallen in love again, although his current friend with benefits, Belinda, would have it otherwise. His day starts out with a a run-in with Petunia, an escape artist longhorn who always winds up in town, and another run-in with the town flasher. But he certainly wasn't expecting a visit from Jana and her adorable toddler, Marley, who takes to him immediately, and it was very hard not to fall in love with that precious little girl.

Jana is back in town to prevent the marriage of her mother, Eileen, (who never approved of Jana's short marriage to Kace when both were in their late teens, and Jana thought she was pregnant). The man Jana's mother intends to marry is none other than Peter Laramie, 17 years Eileen's junior, as well as the man who fathered and abandoned Kace's mom and their 4 sons decades ago, and who was also the cause of their mother turning to drugs, the overdose of which killed her, and which landed the Laramie brothers in horrific, abusive foster families after her death. The 4 brothers finally ended up with a good foster family, and have their foster father, Buck and his wife, to thank for that.

Jana is also in the middle of divorcing her second husband, Dominick, who, in only a few years, caused her to lose her ranch, where she raised and trained horses, drained her bank accounts, and is still trying to bleed her dry, and if he can't get the money from her, he knows that Jana's mom is filthy rich. Jana is convinced that Peter Laramie is only marrying her mother for her money. She can't seem to convince her mother of that, and she enlists Kace to help her stop the wedding.

From the moment Kace and Jana meet again, the sparks start flying--the one place they never had a problem with was their sex lives, and that clearly hasn't changed, despite all the weird things going on, like stink bombs going off, Peter's car accident, strippers showing up at Eileen's ranch complete with phallic shaped balloons, the sudden appearance of boxes filled with vibrators--and that's just for starters. Jana also believes that her father, who abandoned them 20 years earlier is still alive, and has a private investigator trying to locate him, although Eileen considers him dead, and no impediment to her upcoming marriage.

While I generally avoid romantic comedies, this one was a hoot and a half, and while I loved the zaniness and sexiness, I couldn't quite buy this as a second chance romance, primarily because while Kace and Jana had sex practically every time they were in the same place at the same time, that seemed to be pretty much the extent of their relationship--where was the romance? Where else were they compatible? Aside from trying to break up Eileen and Peter's marriage and deal with Jana's ex, they barely had time to have an actual conversation, and as far as romances go, you need more than hot sex to hold a marriage together. Additionally, although the title leads one to believe that this is a Christmas romance, Christmas was barely mentioned.

In addition to the bizarre goings-on, there were some real dramatic elements in this novel, but I don't want to include any spoilers, so I'll conclude by saying that if you're looking for a funny, sexy, relatively lighthearted, sometimes dramatic, second chance western romance, this one will certainly fit the bill.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

Delores Fossen is one of my favorite authors. This is an excellent book, with a great romance and wonderful characters. I rapidly turned the pages to see what would happen not just with their romance, but with all the side problems the main characters were having. There's plenty of amusing situations too. My only criticism is that there wasn't much of the holidays in this story. But it's a five star book!

You never know what's going to happen next in Coldwater, Texas. Just ask Sheriff Kace Laramie. It's usually nice and quiet in Coldwater but this day turns out to be anything but quiet. Kace spots the town flasher outside the police station about to do his thing. A red Porsche with Oklahoma plates runs the town's only traffic light and the town librarian's pet longhorn, Petunia escaped again and was stopped in front of Much Ado about Stuffing where the bull had just whizzed enough to make a deep puddle. After all those things are taken care of since Kace had to send his deputy after the car that ran the red light Kace's ex-wife parks behind the police station and enters the building with a fussing toddler. What in this world does Jana Parker want? And what is his red light-running, Porsch-driving father doing in town? Coldwater is about to become a gossipmonger's dream. Beware of Smelly Bob stink bombs!

A Coldwater Christmas by Delores Fossen is the fourth book in her Coldwater, Texas series. Ms. Fossen continues her humorous yet emotion-packed storyline with this telling of the oldest Laramie brother, Kace's story. Kace has been the rather grumpy brother but now we get to see a different side of him. He just never forgot his first love Jana and now being in frequest contact with her sends sparks shooting between them. Jana is newly divorced again, had to sell her horse ranch and is staying in her grandmother's house just ourside of town and trying to stop her mother from marrying Kace's father. Both Kace and Jana were abandoned by their fathers in their youth so both have abandonment issues to deal with. For some reason Jana's 1 1/2 year-old daughter Marley gravitates to Kace every time she sees him. She feels very comfortable with "Tace" as she calls him. I love stories where the young kids contribute so much to the fun and warmth of the story. Delores Fossen has another winner in this return to Coldwater, Texas!

A Coldwater Christmas is the final installment in the Coldwater, Texas series and Kace will finally have his happily ever after. What can I say about this read but oh my between the stink bombs, the penis balloons and the strippers it was an interesting read. I can tell you that Ms. Fossen doesn’t disappoint in the least with this storyline and how the Laramie brother’s father has come back into their lives. Then there is also how Kace’s ex-wife has come back into Kace’s life with her adorable little girl. I couldn’t believe how attached she was with Kace and how it felt like if she knew him for her short period of life. She would latch onto him and he would let her. Feelings between Kace and Jana is undeniable they still have feelings for each other but they both try fighting it. They are going to have a rocky road before they can have their happily ever after only because her ex-husband comes back and makes threats to take their daughter away from her then there is someone trying to frame her for Kace’s dads accident. Her mother is a looney that wants to help but just makes things worse and worst of all she finds out that the person that she loved betrayed her and maybe didn’t love her like she thought. Jana is going to be tested and in the end she will overcome everything because she is a strong willed woman that has gone through life fighting for what she wants and nothing is going to stand in her way. Kace will be there to hold her and let her know that he will support her in anyway he can.

I can’t believe that this series is over I still want more of each of the couples, I want to know more about their lives and what happened to each of them and their new families. They each had formed a family with kids with the exception of Callen and Shelby. I totally recommend this read. I can’t wait to read more of Ms. Fossen’s books.

A COLDWATER CHRISTMAS continues the story of the Laramie brothers with Kace, the eldest. Kace was briefly married to Jana in the past, and now he works as the Sheriff. When Jana shows up at his station toting a baby from her second marriage, she surprises him by letting him know that his biological father, who had walked out on him and his brothers when they were little, is about to marry her mother. Jana is determined to stop the wedding at any cost, and she is asking for Kace's help in convincing her mother.

Although Kace is determined to stay out of it, he finds his path frequently crossing Jana and his father's after a few dangerous pranks are pulled on his father. As the stakes escalate and Jana's ex-husband keeps trying to extort her, Kace and Jana become closer.

This is an oft-comical book with a solid second-chance romance. Kace is a great character, and it was interesting to meet Jana. The other characters from earlier books appear a bit here, though they have very small roles. The Christmas aspects of the book were relatively minor, so this didn't feel so much like a holiday read to me- there wasn't really trimming the trees or even much discussion of the holiday. However, this did not pull from the appeal, but it didn't suit for the holiday desired reading.

In terms of the romance, I would have liked a little more discourse on the past relationship in order to feel like Jana and Kace have overcome and will be successful now. They mention a bit of why it failed, but I would have liked a deeper discussion about it. Regardless, the book had a light-hearted and charming feel that make this a cute read all around.

Please note that I received a copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Jana's mother is planning on getting married to her ex-husbands father and wants Kaces help to stop this. But that's the least of her troubles when her newly ex-husband Dominic is starting up trouble to get as much money as he can out of her. Then there's the problematic pranks to their parents who want to get married that getting out of hands that implicating that Jana might have something to do with it to stop the wedding. Kace will do everything in his power to settle everything but with Jana around things are heating up making this even more complicated.

So there is nothing in this book that really has anything to do with Christmas so if your looking for Christmas cheer your not going to find it here. But if you are looking for a great contemporary romance with plenty of drama pretty much everywhere then you'll like this. From the moment this book starts the readers will be entertained but the hi jinks that'll happen and wondering who really is behind everything. Then there's the whole mess of Jana's money grubbing ex looking to drain her dry. Then there is the mystery surrounding Jana's father who went missing, who is thought of as dead and Jana needing to know what was the story about that. I enjoyed seeing the romance bloom between two the MC and there was plenty of steamy scenes if your into that kinda thing. You know what there is so much going on in this book that you'll want to read it and trust me when I say that you'll be hooked because there is so much that your not going to want to miss. I really enjoyed this book and personally had a hard time putting it down because I liked it that much.

Another in the Coldwater Texas series in which Sheriff Kace Laramie, oldest of the brothers gets reacquainted with the girl he was briefly married to more than a decade earlier when she comes home after her second divorce, determined to get away from the man who has succeeded in taking her ranch away from her and is threatening to take her baby, too. Not that he wants precious little Marley who latches on to Kace (she calls him Tace) whenever he’s within arms’ reach of her.

Kace and Jana shouldn’t start up again with each other but they can’t seem to prevent it from happening, particularly after one or the other plants a kiss, or takes it deeper than just lips.

But Jana has major troubles when her mother threatens to marry the man who fathered Kace and his three brothers, but then deserted them. Jana is certain that her mother’s beau is out to take her for her wealth, and she’s probably right. But then the effort she’s put in for years trying to find her father bears fruit in the most surprising and not-so-nice way, angering her and her mother.

As Sheriff, Kace has to figure out what is going on with other shenanigans occur, including strippers who show up unannounced, and balloons in the shape of male accouterments usually located below the waist and hidden behind zippers, causing all manner of embarrassment. Who’s doing that and why? And what has that to do with Jana’s mother’s planned nuptials?

A fun read right before Christmas and another for-real wedding of another Laramie brother. Enjoy!

Going to Cold Water and meeting the Laramie brothers and their extended family is always like going home. A chaotic home, where emotions are high, where everyone wants to know the other's business, yet are willing to stand up for each other when need arise.
When it comes to creating a world where readers feel like part of the community is just one of the reasons why I love Fossen's books.
The oldest brother, Kace, has been the caretaker of everyone else since their father walked out on the family, and he truly deserves a happily forever after.
I loved the connection and palpable attraction between Kace and Lana. And the way Lana's little girl reacted to Kace, was truly heartwarming. Lana and Kace seemed to be on the same frequency, the same wavelength, they understood each other and why they were the way they were. Even though I am not big on angst, I wish there would have been a bit more about why Lana and Kace divorced the first time and a clear solution to those issues. But I felt them at the bottom of my heart, rarely is there a couple - even in romance novels - who so tangible belong to each other.
Even in the tumultuous disarray of all the family drama and Coldwater reacting to it, this tale delivers all the feels of family and home, a community where you belong to, and love that will survive even in the toughest times and the biggest obstacles. I laughed, I sighed and I swooned, and mostly I enjoyed the last installment of the saga of Laramie brothers.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Harlequin Romance via NetGalley and I also purchased one on Harlequin's website.

I just adore Ms. Fossen's books. This one is no different. I just get sucked into the world that she creates and get lost there. I adored Marley (Jana's little girl). Let's just say she is the sweetest thing (especially since Marley LOVES Kace). Kace is the sheriff in Coldwater. He and Jana were high school sweethearts and each other's first love. They married young and because she came from money and Kace was a foster child, Jana's mother was able to create doubts in Jana's mind. Enough doubts for them to divorce. Jana is back in town after being gone for over a decade and her second divorce. She wants to stop her mother from marrying his father. To do that, she figures she needs Kace's help.

The story is one that just enchanted me right from the beginning. My poor e-reader really got a work out. I just couldn't put this one down. Add in stinky bombs, strippers, helium balloons of a man's certain anatomy part, a conniving ex-husband and you get a book that kept me up late into the evening. This was written in my favorite dual POV format. It really made the characters so much more humanized and someone to connect with.

This book is sexy and as such, I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone over the age of 18. Get ready to laugh yourself silly at times as well.

A Coldwater Christmas by Delores Fossen is the fourth book in the Coldwater Texas series but the first I have read. It is a Christmas romance about Kace and Jana, who fate has bought back together after their divorce.

I liked this holiday romance. It was an easy read and a lot of fun. The story involves a number of practical (and naughty) jokes played on Kace's father which was the best part of the book. It was really very funny in parts and had me laughing out loud.

I really liked the characters. Kace and Jana are both very likeable and interesting. I easily got behind them and enjoyed reading their story play out.

What didn't quite work for me was the romance. Kace and Jana have a lot of chemistry between them but not a lot else. The issues that caused their marriage to break up in the first place are never really addressed and there really wasn't any romance. I didn't see how things had changed between them from the beginning of the book to the end.

Everything else was great and made A Coldwater Christmas an enjoyable read that I would recommend to all romance readers.

2.5/5⭐

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]

A Coldwater Christmas by Delores Fossen is the fourth book in her Coldwater Texas series. Each book came be read and enjoyed as a stand alone.

Overall, this might be my least favorite in the series so far. The writing is what I expected it to be and the characters both new and friendly faces were fine but I felt it was missing something. For a book that was filled with drama after drama the connection between Kace and Jana just fell flat for me. I was more excited every time time Kace picked up and interacted with Jana's daughter. Also, for a Christmas book I felt like it was lacking the Christmas vibes and the happily ever after ending was a bit abrupt.

Even though this wasn't my favorite I still recommend the Coldwater Texas series if you enjoy a good cowboy romance.

A Coldwater Christmas by Delores Fossen is a second-chance romance for the oldest Laramie brother, Kace, a small-town sheriff of Coldwater, Texas. His day starts off with the usual run-ins with a longhorn named Petunia and the town flasher. However, he is not prepared to confront his past: the woman he had never stopped loving: Jana Parker, now divorced with a toddler, and the unexpected appearance of his father who had abandoned him and brothers when they were children. Jana and Kace attempt to rekindle their love but a series of problematic pranks keep getting in the way. There is enough going on to give Kace a headache or two. No one knows what is going to happen next in their quiet town. The story progress in an emotional and sometimes humorous pace. It’s a great contemporary romance with plenty of drama pretty much everywhere.

What made this book for me was Kace and Jana. I liked these two together. Jana was headstrong but nothing that Kace could not handle. You could tell that they still loved each other; despite the fact that they were divorced. Yet, I did find it a bit of a twist that Jana's mother was going to marry Kace's father when her mother is the one that encouraged Jana to leave Kace.

Speaking of the engaged couple. I thought they were fine. They definitely acted like the children and Kace and Jana the adults in the story. After a while, I did find this behavior to be too much. In addition, there seemed to be a lot of different things happening all at once in the beginning. Some of it was unnecessary. Also, this book felt a little less holiday spirit.

While, this book may not have been a five star read for me, I still enjoyed reading it and would read the next book in this series.

I really enjoyed reading this story because along with the drama and romance, it made me laugh at some of the incidents that happened in these lives. Kace Laramie realized that his ex-wife was in town about the same time as he found out that his no good, son of a……….., was also in town. He had never seen his father again after he abandoned Kace and his three brothers. After their mother died, they ended up a horrible foster care system until Buck had taken the boys in and had given them the home they deserved. Apparently his ex, Jana, was here to get his help stopping the wedding of her mother to his father, claiming his father was a gold digger. Even though Jane had just gone through her second divorce and was now here with a toddler, Kace’s heart tried to skip a few beats. This is a delightful story that was very entertaining.

*Audiobook
It's got a bit of spice but not necessarily graphic.

Book #4 in the series
I haven't read any of the other books and could tell that the other Laramie Brothers had their stories told, but for the most part, it stands alone okay.

Kace Laramie is the sheriff in Coldwater, Texas. A small town where not a lot happens. However, in one day, his ex-wife, Jana, and his estranged father show up in his quiet town. Turns out Kace's father and Jana's mother are engaged.
Jana came to Coldwater to try to convince Kace to help her stop the wedding. She knows his father is a gold digger, and she needs to save her mother from losing her wealth to him.
When someone pulls a prank that causes an accident that injured his dad, Kace has to get involved.

This book has a lot of drama, but it comes full circle. I enjoyed it, and the ending was great.

This is the fourth book in the Coldwater Texas series. I haven't read the other books but was able to enjoy this as a standalone. Sheriff Kace Laramie and his three brothers were abandoned by their father, Peter Laramie, as young boys. They survived foster care and have nothing good to say about their father nor do they want to have anything to do with him. Now he has showed up in Coldwater and is engaged to marry Eileen Parker, the mother of Kace's ex-wife. Could things get any more complicated?

Jana Parker, Kace's ex-wife, has also shown up in town with the goal of preventing her mother's marriage to Peter. She has just gone through a divorce to a scoundrel named Dominick who took her to the cleaners.

There is a lot going on in this book. In addition to the romantic element, there is a mystery that the good sheriff is trying to solve.

Isn't that cover beautiful? This was a nice little Christmas holiday read. I loved the nosy town folk...(as usual with living in a small town everybody knows your business) and I enjoyed the mystery behind the mysterious things that were going on and was surprised at who was behind it and all.

I liked the main characters and could sort of relate to certain aspects of them both on a certain level but I really wasn't into their romance. Don't get me wrong I really really wanted this couple to get back together and felt they were made for each other but the quickness and way it happened in this particular case was just to rushed for me. Other than that it was quite a cute story.

I downloaded a bunch of Christmas books, so I’ve been introduced to a bunch of new authors and series over the past couple of weeks. With this book, I’m still trying to process what I just read. I feel like there could have been a pretty decent Western Christmas story in there somewhere, but it never really developed and the characters and dialogue were so immature that I physically cringed many times. The weapons of choice in the mystery plot were fart bombs and penis balloons, if that tells you anything. I almost DNF several times, but morbid curiosity about how themes of fart bombs, wild circus themed art installations, and stuffed armadillos were going to wrap up in some sort of Christmas miracle situation kept me pushing through to the end. It never really came together.

As with all the Coldwater Books, Delores Fossen turns up the heat in this town as she sets the oven to sizzle. When Sheriff Kace Laramie swears of marriage, he means it. At least until an old flame strolls back into town with a young daughter in tow and in need of some help. Both try hard to resist, but soon it is very clear the embers are stoking back up. Will the promise of never marrying again still reign true?

I always enjoy the Coldwater books. Like Whiskey Creek and Silver Springs, Fossen uses her knowledge of small town life to give this one a wonderful atmosphere that welcomes you in book after book. Give Coldwater a try.

Sheriff Kace Laramie and his brothers moved to Coldwater, Texas, as foster children. He briefly married local Jana Parker. After that marriage ended, he vowed to never marry again and pushed thoughts of his ex from his mind until she arrived in town needed his help.

Jana comes back to town after her second divorce to create a new life for her and her daughter and to try to stop her (rich) mother from marrying his gold-digging biological father.

Sparks fly as they work together to try to stop the marriage and overcome obstacles thrown in their way and it was fun to watch their relationship reignite.

What a great story. I laughed at all the shenanigans and cried when dad things haooened. Both Kace and Jana had issues with their dad's. Both were abandoned when they were young and suffered heartbreaking sadness because of it. How they overcame the abandonment and go on to become decent, hardworking, and caring people is a joy to read. Another great story by Ms Fossen for the Coldwater series, that I enjoyed and recommend. Although part of a series you can read this as a standalone.

This is book 4 in the Coldwater Texas series and it's Kace's story. He's surprised to see his ex-wife pull up in front of the police station but even more surprised to see his father drive by. The same father who abandoned him and his three brothers many years ago. This can be read as a stand alone but you'll enjoy all the brothers stories.Jana is in town to prevent her mother from marrying Case's dad. A good Christmas story with a few twists and turns. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

What a wonderful book in this series by Delores Fossen. There is no lack of action in this book. The book hops from page to page. Old loves Jana and Kace are thrown back together with the common goal of not liking his dad. His dad wants to marry Jana's mom but Jana doesn't want that..There are strippers, naughty balloons, and people setting up Peter(Kace's dad). There is a girl that Kace has occassionally been friends with benefits. It was trippy to read her name as it is the same as mine.LOL There is an ex extorting money..Like I said lots of action..this is a must read book!

Back home in Coldwater.

Kace Laramie is the small town of Coldwater's sheriff. On a not so great day his estranged biological father and his ex-wife Jana Parker are back in town. Peter Laramie is there to marry Jana's mother Eileen and Jana is there to get Kace to help her stop the wedding.
This story is chock full of small town humor and family disagreements. Kace is trying to keep from wanting to be with Jana again and getting hung up with Jane's baby girl Marley. A great Christmas story for anyone who likes Delores Fossen books.

Kind of a lot going on.. liked the mystery twist - but I hated the relationship between the characters. Seems like only sex but not building on the relationship between them. Liked the baby. The mother was an idiot! Kace is the sheriff and his ex Jana comes back to town when hubby #2 divorces her. He and his brothers are in crisis because his father who abandoned them when young has come back to town engaged to Jana’s idiot mother. Is he using her for money or does he love her? Who is framing Jana for vandalizing peter with sex toys and such? Won’t be reading any more b this author!

I received A Coldwater Christmas from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my fair and honest review.

I found the book very well written, and enjoyed the storyline. There was good Chemistry between Kace and Jana, and I thought the engagement between his dad and her mom was a interesting one. The book is filled with many twists and turns, and at times I couldnt help but laugh outloud. I would certainly recommend this book to others.

I really enjoyed Kace & Jana's second chance story. There was drama coming from all directions, but the re-budding relationship between them was the best part. That and Marley's fascination with Kace. The ending was a bit abrupt and a little predictable, but it was sweet regardless. There was very little Christmas about this book.
