What this book lacks in size, it does not lack in content! Beth Moore delivers a powerful word on freedom and one that I cannot stop thinking about! She will not leave you in a pit, but will give you the tools to get out of it! If you have an area in your life where you can't find freedom and when you try to find freedom, you get more stuck, might I recommend Delivered? I found myself in moments of laughter and fits of frustration as God was speaking to me right off the pages about areas of sin where I had been captivated and needed freedom. No one wants to be in bondage, but sometimes we need to know we were there in the first place. I highly recommend this book! It is fantastic!

This book was short but was packed full of wisdom. The book is geared towards someone that feels they have hit rock bottom. Whether through circumstances out of your control, whether a slow descent to the bottom, or whether arriving there through your own decisions. Definitely recommend!
“Should you be willing to leave a legacy of faith, some of those lives you help will grace this earth after you’re gone. “
“Beloved, let this one sink in deeply: if God allowed you to be thrown into a pit, you weren’t picked on; you were picked out. God entrusted that suffering to you be- cause He has faith in you. Live up to it. All the way up. “

I didn't realize how many references there were to a pit in the Bible. What's more significant is how Beth describes the valid ways we end up in a pit and honest encouragement to get out with God as the ultimate power behind us in the victorious climb and before us in deliverance. Beth really does have a way with words that convict and inspire onward 'er upward out of the pit.

When I saw Beth Moore's book Delivered available for review on BookLookBloggers, I knew I had to grab it. This is the first book I've ever read of Beth Moore's, though I've done several of her video Bible Studies.

To give you a little insight on what the book is about, here is what the back cover says:

You Can Know the Glorious Freedom of God
God is in the deliverance business. He longs for you to be free, to know the love and presence that are better than life-and the power of His Word that defies all darkness. In Delivered, Beth Moore shares her own journey out of the pit and the way the poetic expressions of Psalm 40 rewarded her with a new song for her soul-given by her Savior and offered to you here in this soul-stirring book. You can also be free from the worst life has to offer and learn to take Christ's mighty arm when he reaches into the depths, and says in a way you can finally hear, Need a hand?

A few things to mention before I give my review....this book is adapted from Beth Moore's prior book Get Out of That Pit. The book has 145 pages. It retails for $12.99 USD and $15.99 CAD. Now onto the review...

As I began this book, Beth Moore's voice popped into my head and began to read the book to me. If you don't know what Beth Moore's voice sounds like its southern and soulful. The book goes into detail about how we get into our pit, how we get out of our pit, who is the ultimate deliverer from our pit, and how our delivery is a sure and steadfast way to our new life upon the solid rock of Jesus. I feel as though this is more of a gift style book. It is short and simple, yet, extremely profound. The chapters are less than 25 pages. The décor is dainty and minimal. It seems to give just enough. The biggest take away for me was God chose me before I was. Jesus loved me so much He chose to deliver me before I was created. This concept hit me. I know Jesus loves me, but I never thought about it in that depth. Think of how deep He loves you and then think deeper still--is what the spirit was telling me.

I want to share a few excerpts from the book that spoke to me:
Conviction is a hand delivered invitation to meet with God, and confession is an RSVP with immediate arrival. (Page 93)
Here's how confession works: we lay all our sins at God's feet; He picks them up and throws all of them behind His back...We want our past behind God's back. That way we'll have to go through God to get back to it. (Page 94)
You have the Father's will, the Son's Word, and the Holy Spirit's way. What more could you need? (Page 97)
Anticipate your absolute, inevitable deliverance. (Page 109)
While you wait for God to work and to manifest your sure deliverance, you wrap yourself around Him as tightly as you possibly can...Bind yourself to Him with everything you've got so that you will ultimately-inevitably-go anywhere He does. Hang on for dear life and never let go. Pin yourself so close to Him you can almost hear Him whisper. His words will live in you and you will live in Him. (Page 111)
God is firm in His commitment to you. (Page 117)
These are just a couple of things that spoke to me as I read this book. What will speak to you?

I highly recommend this book. It is a great read and a great gift. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my review. Have a blessed day!

This book is adapted from material previously published in Get Out of That Pit. I preferred that book a bit more than this one, as there’s more depth in the previous book.

Moore does offer some tips that could be helpful for some users who feel they are stuck and are searching for freedom from the various pits they may find themselves in (be it one they’re thrown into, one they’ve slipped into, or one they’ve jumped into). Things seemed a bit more jumpy in this one, due to the condensed nature of the book.

The chapters are short, making this a quick read, but there is still a lot to digest. This would make a nice gift, as well.

A few excerpts:

• “While you wait for God to work and to manifest your sure deliverance, you wrap yourself around Him as tightly as you possibly can. Ask Him to make you more God-aware than you have ever been in your life.”
• “God is firm in His commitment to you.”

The author shares a few moments of her story with honesty and transparency. In that way, I believe she is able to lead people through the journey of life in the pit and then offer helpful insights to live a new life of freedom by trusting in God. Beth's approach to painful situations and finding hopeful resolutions is always based on the truth of God's word. So, unlike most self-help books, the author shares how crying out for help, confessing our wrong-doings, and surrendering to the Lord daily offers a pit-less future. This small hardcover book is filled with many scripture references encouraging the reader to know Christ and His redeeming power of grace, especially Psalm 40:1-2.

Delivered, the latest from Beth Moore, gives a summary of her best-selling book, Get Out of That Pit. Beth will yet again discuss the three primary ways you can end up in a pit: you may be thrown in or you may slip in or finally, you may jump in!

Whether you are hearing this topic discussed for the first time or you are experiencing a much needed refresher, Beth will be with you in the final moments as you raise your hands in praise to our God when He will bring your final release!

Delivered delivered

Beth has a knack for writing as though she is speaking to you directly. Her scenarios are true to life and hit home.Descriptions of "the pit" are spot on and gave me comfort in knowing that others have been in my position. The real value of this book is how to get out of "the pit".
A relationship with God is the the key to successfully escape. Beth gives practical advice and encouragement in this book. I'm so much better for reading it.

Delivered means freedom

What is a pit? It is being stuck. It is feeling helpless and alone. It's a feeling not even God cares. Beth gives 3 ways we enter a pit. Being thrown in, slipping in and jumping in. There is only one way out. God. Call to Him. And He will answer. Sounds simple but it us not. I have been in a pit.

Beth Moore is an easy to read author. Her use of personal information as well as other examples makes for interesting reading. This book dealt with getting out of a pit or "being stuck" and how to move forward. I found it helpful and one I would like to read again. Definitely recommend it for someone that is having issues with moving forward at any point in their life.

Strong words of encouragement

Some of the book was very similar to the book “Get out of that Pit.” I’ve already read it so it was repetitive but the new parts were awesome and refreshing.

Beautiful author, message, story

I was drawn to the narrative and story and felt the genuine raw nature of the words come from the author. It was not perfect poetry, but it was real and a genuine journey into dealing with the pain of trauma in the midst of Gods love.

I'm OUT and I'm the Songs!!!

The book was written by presenting what the pit(s) were really like. At the time of my reading,I was in similar situations. By the time I finished,I notice my old songs had returned and I was singing New ones!!! Alleluia!!! Our God Is FAITHFUL!!!

2nd time reading

Beth shares her testimony in a helpful way to fellow pit dwellers so we can know Jesus will be there to pull you up and out. She shares the process for deliverance but intersects her own stories of deliverance along the course of this book. Highly recommend!
