A dying king...
A dynasty in danger...
A prince with one duty: secure the succession!

Despite everything working against him, Prince Fallon Blackwood has met all the demands of the crown for nearly a hundred years… except for one!

After avoiding this obligation for too long, the time has come for him to take a harem and prove that he’s capable of continuing his family’s bloodline and ensuring their control of the throne. But underneath his cool and calm exterior, Fallon secretly yearns for a much different life than the one he was born into...

Novi Navarro is a working-class barmaid who’s used to running her tavern and running her mouth. When she gets assigned to Prince Fallon's harem by mistake, she thinks it’s a complete joke. She makes a deal with Fallon for them to both get what they want from this administrative oversight. But when members of the Blackwood Court discover her true identity, she quickly learns that she must beat them at their game... or die...

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author to give a voluntary honest review. This review contains only my own thoughts and opinions of this book. First and foremost, thank you Emigh Cannaday for the opportunity and generosity, and of course for a thrilling read.

Prince of Persuasion had most of what I enjoy in a story; drama, romance, complexity, adventure and betrayal. All of this to make sure I enjoyed the story from start until finish and I sure did. However, as much as I wanted to I couldn’t find it in myself to fall head over heels in love with it.

As I have read the Annika Brisby series and since this book takes place in the same world it was easy for me to compare it to The Flame and the Arrow. To be blunt I enjoyed the predecessor much more, mainly because of the more apparent personalities and sparking romance. That’s not to say I had anything against any of the characters and romance in Prince of Persuasion. I liked both Novi and Fallon and the developing relationship between them. However there was a level of emotion that I felt wasn’t really there in the relationship and in the characterization. They had personalities, sure, but I didn’t really feel that those personalities took much space in the story as they could have. It left the emotional impactful parts of the story and actions of the characters a bit underwhelming and took away some of the chemistry from the romance.

There was an aspect in the story that could have helped that missing spark come to life and that was the very different backgrounds Novi and Fallon came from. It was used in the beginning in the story somewhat, but it wasn’t apparent in their relationship later on. They were equals even though she was a dirt poor barmaid and he a prince, which of course is great. For been raised complete opposites there was no struggle or learning curve for them to get there though. They clashed a bit in the beginning but after that they just clicked and agreed on everything. Since they both were in such unique situation with a harem as well there could have been plenty of room for struggles there with jealousy for example. Between the main characters and some conflict with the other courtesans as well. This was not taken advantage of and Therefore I feel like I missed out on some good drama and necessary depth. That is the main reason why I couldn’t fall in love with this book.

On to happier stuff. The drama and depth I found lacking in the romance was made up for with the “villains” in the story. I liked the original take on the relationship between Fallon and his mother and I liked how unclear it was where she stood in their relationship. I couldn’t tell if she loved her son or was only manipulating him. And Tristan and his motives was just as unclear. It made me very intrigued over both characters, what could have led them to be the way they were and what their end goal is. I found both characters very well written, keeping them a bit mysterious and wanting me to keep reading to find out.

There are of also many other reasons for me to be excited for the next book, especially with such a drama filled ending. It makes me hyped for the romance, to see what happened to Novi and how the betrayal will play out between the royal family.

Ugh...so much ugh

I read this thru KU.
*****SPOIKERS*****

I may be partially to blame for not liking this book. I didn't recognize the authors listed in the summary or that this author also wrote the Annika B series, which I also disliked. The 1st maybe 40% of the book was amazing. Love, love, loved it...Right up until the ML abused, infantilized & humiliated the FL. Then I realized that although this book is advertised as fantasy, it it us actually written as red skinned historical romance. I just do not enjoy reading about romantic partners being objectified & abused, then gas lighter into thinking it's her fault.

This series suffers from all the same problems as the other one I read by this author: ML is a bad dude of questionable redeemability and FL is billed as smart but is actually a mental wreck/ door mat. It's such a shame because this author can really write at times. But like thus book would ordinarily be a DNF for me as soon as ML hit FL. But the writing up until that point was so stellar and fun that I wanted, really wanted to enjoy the rest. But it just never recovered after that scene that was so out of place and made me really dislike the ML.

Hence, 2 stars.

I HATE CLIFFHANGER! Ok now that I have that out of my system. But at least I knew that going in and read it anyway. This is an extraordinarily well written and thought out book. I found myself reading it straight through. That being said though since when really sucked.
This is Novi and Fallon’s story. Novi is nothing more than a simple bar maid. Or so they would have you believe. She is actually so much more. When she is taken as one of the Harem instead of a cook. She lets them know of the mistake. Except for the queen and the youngest son. But Fallon knows and he doesn’t care. He strikes a deal with Novi and everything seems to be fine as they set out towards their goal. But when you live in close proximity to someone for a long time and you get to know them love happens. Yet neither of them seem to want to admit it to the other. Then while on the hunt something horrible happens. And we are left not knowing if they will ever be able to be together. I am so ready for that next book I cannot wait till it comes out. And I plan to get that one as soon as it hits the stores.

Squeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

This is so good!!! I'm happy to have read about the dark elves, the spin-off of Emigh Cannaday's Annika Brisbey series! So glad they don't enslave humans like I thought they did, from reading the other series. Although they don't seem to have any reservations enthralling them to get their way.

I absolutely adored Novi! She was hilarious, and bright. She reminded me of Annika because she seemed a lot like a "modern girl" (as the Estonian elves call humans from Earth) with her somewhat feminist ideals, and demand for equality amongst humans and elves. She was awesome! And I loved Fallon! Just for he fact that he sides his human "concubine." But he's so much more than that. He would make a great king... if there were actually a need for him to be king at the moment.

With that said, I can't wait to see how all of this plays out in the next novel, as well as how Talvi and Annika will play a part in the total upheaval of that court. Lol. It's going to be awesome!!!!

I absolutely loved this book! The first series I read from Ms. Cannaday was the Annika Brisby series and as enthralled as I was with that one, I didn't think it would be possible to be just as enthralled by another of her series. Well I was proven wrong. I do believe this one is far better. You can tell that she has learned and grown as an author and her writing is a million times better. This story is absolutely amazing! Novi is a strong willed, smart, albeit stupidly mouthy human in a world where humans are less than the scum on fae boots. Watching Fallon go from demeaning a**hole prince to humble lover is an absolute trip! You simply must read this book. It is definitely one for the keep forever shelf!

Can I tell you all how excited I was to read this book. I love fantasy. I love romance. When there is a book that brings the two genres’ together, I almost always pick it up to read. When I was approached to review Prince of Persuasion, I accepted immediately. I am glad I did because this book was fantastic.

I loved Novi in this book. She took nothing from anyone. Well, except her boss/landlord and that was because she had to. She did try to fix the administrative mistake, but no one would listen to her. Novi had a bit of snark to her as well. I was dying when she made eye contact with Fallon while thinking about him. She didn’t know that he could read her mind, which made the dance that happened right afterward even more amusing. I also died laughing when she thought that Fallon and Cedric were “together.” Let’s not forget her helping Fallon by spreading the rumor that he finished fast. I. Was. Dying. At that point, she became one of my favorite heroines.

I felt terrible for Fallon. He had to deal with a scheming mother, a brother who was plotting against him, and a father who was dying. On top of that, he had his duties as Crown Prince. One of which was to produce an heir. So, when Fallon is introduced in the book, he is not happy about being forced to procreate and take a harem. At first, I thought Fallon was a jerk. But he became less jerklike as the book went on. By the end of the book, I loved him.

The sex scenes were hot. I did laugh, though, when Novi first saw Fallon’s member. Her reaction would be one of any woman seeing something that big. I liked that the author built up Novi and Fallon’s sexual relationship too. So when they did have sex, it was hot. The author was able to keep that going through the rest of the book.

It took me a while to figure out that Prince of Persuasion was set in the same universe as the Anika Brisby series. I am not giving anything away, but I made the connection to a particular character in The Darkest of Dreams (not Talvi!!).

I could not stand Queen Laena. For a race who depended on humans to keep their race going, she didn’t like humans. There was mention of her past, and that made me wonder what she was hiding.

Tristan was also on my list. I couldn’t decide if he was going along with Queen Laena because he wanted her approval or if he was concerned for Fallon. Still, after what he did to Callie and what happened at the end of the book, he ended up on my list.

The end of the book frustrated me. I can’t stand cliffhangers. But it did its job. I need to read the next book.

DNF as the FMC is too stupid to live, also the reason for the original mix-up is moronic... usually people write their name first... so HOW exactly did their papers get switched?!? 🤔 it's never really explained & it makes NO sense, at all!

I saw a review on here that the MMC hits the FMC... he doesn't... he spanks her & it IS as punishment, but there are millions of romance books centered around that topic (even Regency romances & don't even get me started on dark romances), so it barely registered & no, I didn't agree with the punishment, but she DID bring it on herself.

& she's his Concubine, not a fiancée, not his wife, but infinitely lower on the social scale... Concubines literally only exist (IRL & fiction) for the man's sexual pleasure... nothing else!

That's one of the reasons why I DNF as the FMC is just too dumb...

The night before, they'd both made an agreement about how things would go. In private, she can be as crass & as impertinent as she likes with him, however in public, due to all the wagging tongues, political intrigue & possibly lethal consequences, she has to be obedient, demure & play the role of a smitten concubine...which is pretty standard for royalty tropes!

She both refuses a very simple request & becomes mouthy in public when he comes up with a very mild punishment & he ends up spanking her (3 little taps) in public to save face. Not the greatest way to deal with it, but he hardly gaslights her about it!

Bearing in mind, that at that point he's literally saving her ass, has asked for nothing in return, has come up with a plan to get her away from the palace & has explained to her WHY they need to keep pretending until she leaves & still she plays the fool on MULTIPLE occasions!

Honestly, this FMC is beyond stupid.

She's introduced as someone who's had to struggle to survive, but I'm left wondering how she's still alive by this point!

I think the author thinks that she comes across as sassy, but all I see is a dumbass...

She's told several times, by several people that if the mix-up is found out, then the Queen's reputation will take a hit & as the Queen is as ruthless as they come, to save face, she'll have no qualms about having the FMC killed (& she's even told this by the Queen's own son), yet she persists in telling everyone, at every opportunity that there was a mistake & she prefers to work in the kitchen 🤦‍♀️... Honestly, I just can't with this dumbass & if only these were the only instances that the FMC was beyond dumb... but no!

Another reason I DNF'd was that the author can't seem to make up her mind about the heroine.

The book starts & it's (heavily) implied by the FMC's own thoughts that she's promiscuous, enjoys sex & plans to sleep with as many men as she likes. To which I thought, great... not a virgin heroine! Hallelujah 🙌 An FMC who owns her own sexuality?!. Fantastic... bring on the sexy times!

But, the author couldn't quite make up her mind... she wanted a sexually active FMC, but she had to also be naive like a virgin...because she'd never had an orgasm & we all know that women know nothing about sex, unless we've had an orgasm 🙄 give me strength!

If as women, we waited for that elusive orgasm to both understand & enjoy sex regardless... we'd all be born-again virgins for life!

So, instead of us having a couple who happily get down to it, enjoy & "protect" each other from outside sources, we get an FMC who can't figure out if she's sexually liberated or sexually repressed...

The conflict becomes about the FMCs misapprehensions about sex, even though upon meeting the Prince, her thoughts are all of a sexual nature.

She thinks about how hot he is & I quote, that he's so hot that "he's 100% qualified to be what she affectionately calls a... fuck you now, ask questions later kinda guy"... now, that to me, implies she's not only extremely sexually active, but that she ENJOYS sex!

So, at their meet cute, she not only imagines him naked, thinks about how she'd like to sex him up (bar his imagined, barbed ding-dong) & how she's renowned for her cherry stem knotting skills with her tongue, which, as far as I'm aware is only an impressive skill when it comes to going down on someone... yet, when she's confronted with his hard schlong, she's extremely confused & doesn't know what to do with it 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ make it make sense!

& she herself thinks "that she's not used to being on her knees in front of a naked man & nothing crammed into her mouth"... which... hello, she's looking at it like it's a lollypop & practically drooling as well... sigh!

He then prompts her to clarify about her sexual expertise because he's confused... (him & me both) & she goes on to explain that she's only had 2mn men (which, girl... I feel your pain) & she's never had an orgasm... which, yes it's a damned shame!

(Also bearing in mind that they both share a bed for (I think it's stated that it was) 3 weeks or more, with no sexual contact between them nor has he made any sexual advances towards her. So much so, that she thinks he's gay, however he's respecting her autonomy & that their agreement was non-sexual in nature... )

So, he promptly offers to kama sutra that ass, she agrees... he starts showing her a VERY good time (no penetration), there's some coitus interruptus. They both spend all day frustrated & hoping for the happy resolution... the time comes & she then freaks out that he can't penetrate her (not even with his fingers) because men usually never wait until she's fully ready & she apparently doesn't enjoy sex.... say what now?!?

By this point, my girl is literally DRIPPING!

& if sex has been THAT bad.... then WHY is one of her first thoughts about him... "fuck you now, questions later"... that makes NO sense to me!

I get that her sexual experiences so far haven't been the greatest... but, she's had multiple sexual partners, willingly & on multiple occasions, & then she only has a problem with sex, when a man (darm elf) whose reputation is that he practically wrote the damned kama sutra & that's when suddenly she's afraid of sex?!? WHAT?!

It's a ridiculous plot contrivance that literally makes NO sense whatsoever with what we've been told by the author up until that point. It's a complete 180!

It would've been preferable, IMO, if the author HAD made her a virgin, at least then the whole scared of sex plot would've made a whole lot more sense than a woman who up until that point, is implied, that she not only enjoys sex, but f**** them, leaves them, initiates her sexual encounters & bangs the men over the head if they don't do what she wants...

You can't have it both ways...

All in all, it's a shame as it could've been an interesting story about this dark-Elf ruled world, as it is, I can't as the author really can't make up her mind about what she wants the book to be... even the rules around the Concubines, their offspring, etc...

SENSUALITY RATING: YES Profanity – the “F” word seems to be an all time favorite in this book; YES Sexual Encounters.

GENRE: Fantasy Romance; Paranormal Romance

SETTING: Realm of Fae, Ellunian Empire, Kingdom of Sinaryos, capital city of Sinarya

CENTRAL FEMALE CHARACTER: NOVI NAVARRO – Barmaid looking for a better future, Human, Speaks her mind; Trashy mouth; Blond which is not particularly popular.

CENTRAL MALE CHARACTER: FALLON BLACKWOOD – Fae Prince, serious about doing his prince duty for the betterment of the Kingdom, Workaholic with no interest in a harem or concubines.

SYNOPSIS: She was tired of working in a place with a cheating owner. She wanted better. All she wanted was to use her culinary skills until her name got mixed up with another. He was next to the thrown and spent his hours of each day doing paperwork and attending meetings for the betterment of the Kingdom.

WHAT I LIKED: Her academic mind

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE: Profanity totally took away from the plot

OVERALL RATING: (4) stars because an "excellent" plot that goes somewhere if you turn the pages pass the the sexual encounters and overlook her filthy mouth. Reading and understanding academic books can come from the most unusual places. He demands respect. In her way, she refuses to give it. I cannot wait for the next book. *hint* Somewhere in this series, vampires must be lurking.

Beautiful storytelling

I’ve been searching for a fantasy series that hooked me completely and Emigh Canmaday didn’t disappoint in Prince of Persuasion. I loved the snarky, independent and fierce main character Novi who is nothing but a simply barmaid dreaming of a better life away from her slumlord boss however it takes a turn when her best friend urges Novi to go with her to Blackwood Castle to work as a kitchen maid. Instead she becomes the crown prince Fallon’s concubine.
Fallon had wanted nothing else in the world besides being the Naval commander for his families country however when his eldest brother was killed in the war he had to step quickly into his boots. For a 100 years Fallon has been regent while his king fathers health declined and now dealing with 13 new ladies all vying for his attentions besides one.

I delved into this head first and didn’t come back up for air until the very end.

I recommend for the readers who love Holly Black and Audrey Grey!

Interesting and unique, but the story does move a bit too slowly. Too much filler. I’m not into the whole royal arrogance and harems scenario, but Fallon and Novi have great chemistry. They have a connection that is sweet and passionate. Fallon, crown prince, is forced to have a harem. Novi’s application to be part of the kitchen staff was mixed up with her friend’s application to part of his harem. Novi tells Fallon right away, but he doesn’t want it to get out. They act like they are lovers to keep the secret and to keep the other royals from forcing the rest of the harem on Fallon. Fallon and Novi begin to grow closer as they get to know more about each other. The royals are despicable people; not Fallon, but all the others. Their world is in need of some serious change, but they are stuck in their old ways. There’s something nefarious going on in this Kingdom and unfortunately for Novi, she’s in the cross fire. Look forward to the next book.

Oh my gosh, wow!

Prince of Persuasion is a fantabulous story! You get a great mixture of a badass Cinderella thrown into a Romeo and Juliet situation (you know star cross lovers, betrayal, revenge, and mayhem) in a fantasy world filled with princes, concubines, magic and much more.

It is set in the same world as the Annika Brisby stories but I didn't feel like you would gain or lose anything if you haven't read them yet. It would work well as a stand a lone novel.

I loved this book! The 5 stars are primarily for the ending. It isn’t a really good ending – as in a happy ending – but it isn’t the worst of all possible endings either, though it looks for a bit as if that is where it is going. And it definitely leaves a lot of room for sequels, which you know are coming anyway.

The Novi Navarro Chronicles are a spinoff of Emigh Cannaday’s The Annika Brisby Series. It is not necessary to read The Annika Brisby Series to understand and enjoy this book – but it helps. It is not a sequel, but the two series overlap, and I suspect this will become more obvious a couple of books down the road. I think I liked this one even better than the Annika Brisby books, and I enjoyed them a lot.

This time we are in the Kingdom of Sinaryos, a part of the Ellunian Empire, apparently a long-time rival of the Estellian Empire we visited in The Annika Brisby Series. This is the home of the Näkki or Dark Elves. They are supposedly half-demon in ancestry. They are easily angered and can enthrall humans or read their minds just by looking into their eyes.

Fallon is the Crown Prince of Sinaryos, next in line for the throne. It has been decided on his behalf that he should take a harem of concubines. Apparently, the custom there is for one or more of the male members of the royal family to take human concubines and attempt to sire children with them to prove he is capable of producing children. Then he will be married to a proper Näkki female of high rank in the hope of producing a legitimate heir. Fallon’s younger brother, Tristan, has been trying to do this for over a hundred years without success while Fallon has been handling the business duties of trying to rule the country while his father is apparently dying of a broken heart because Fallon’s older brother, Dillon was killed in the previous war with the Estellian Empire.

Novi Navarro is a poor human with no known living relatives. She has been working in an inn where she is barmaid, cook, waitress, bookkeeper, and several other things. She has become tired of the abuse of her landlady and employer and wants to get another job. Her best friend, Callie, the daughter of her mother’s former employer, has fallen on hard times as well and has applied for one of the concubine positions, and she has persuaded Novi to apply for some sort of job in the castle as well; they have a kitchen maid position in mind. So they go to the castle, and somehow the applications get mixed up, and Callie winds up in the kitchen while Novi suddenly finds herself becoming one of Fallon’s concubines.

Their relationship begins as an almost traditional romance. Fallon isn’t all that crazy about having concubines to begin with, and Novi, mindful of her mother’s hard life after she had a child out of wedlock, has a horror of getting pregnant. But they find themselves falling in love. Fallon also discovers that Novi has other attractions besides just those that make for a good concubine and puts her to work for him on a secret project he is working on.

But there are dark forces at work. Somehow Fallon’s mother takes a horrible dislike to Novi – she seems suddenly to find her terribly inferior for some reason – and when Tristan finds out that Callie was the one destined to become a concubine rather than Novi, Novi is accused of being a spy. Suddenly her life is in danger, and the romance becomes deadly.

Thanks to the author for a free copy of this book to review.

“Novi! Curtsy! Now!” Esteban hissed from somewhere off to the left. Novi heard Prince Tristan snicker into his wine glass, which threw her off even more. The disappointed expression on Queen Laena’s face only made it worse.”

• ROFL
• Princess Competition
• Wrong girl
• Clever writing
• Touch Her and You Die

The seriously amusing part of this is that the human girls are surrogate moms for the future wife, a true demon fae. Every concubine selected for either prince is just that, a consort and test run before any prince can attain the throne. Both Fallon (the male MC) and his brother Tristan have been hounded by the council to produce an heir, any heir, from any human. The first to prove himself gains the throne.

Unfortunately for Tristan, his cavorting ways have gained him a terrible reputation. Instead, Fallon, the responsible and dutiful administrator, finds himself given extra duties to visit every girl in his newly assigned harem, which he whittles down to 13. His mother is determined to keep at least the lucky number 13 scheduled, so when Nori shows up with an application, Queen accepts her despite her obvious lack of refinement. Since the queen signed her application, Nori thinks she is accepted as a baker, not a concubine!
Her friend Callista accidentally ends up in the kitchens with the fine skills of applying makeup and curtsying.

It is so refreshing to have a main character who is not the most skilled, the most beautiful. Upon being presented to the fae council, Nori immediately attempts to use stage tricks like undressing the prince mentally or looking above the eyes. This fails miserably because fae can read minds…and Fallon smirks in return.

This story is so intricate it almost reminds me of a Shakespeare play. The other courtesans become background to the music of the romance, but I never felt like the romance overpowered the plot. Just be warned that the story is not finished, and the ending is not yet an HEA.

Theme:
One of my favorites: “If you truly believe that all other races are inferior in comparison to the demonborn, there is no place for you at my side.” Racism is not sexy. Racism has no place in a democracy. And a fantasy is a wonderful way to explore racism and bigotry without offending any group.

Please Note: I have read this book and #2 halfway thru. So my review is an amalgamation of the experience throughout the two books.
The plot was pretty good initially. Except when it became unnecessarily convoluted towards the end.

Despite everything, I gave this book 3 stars because the first book, especially the initial part had a lot of potential. All the baby talk and multiplying villains in GP unnecessarily made it convoluted and difficult to maintain interest.

Good First Book

****Spoilers****

Pretty good read for the most part. Novi and Fallon are unlikely on the surface but their story builds to something more believable as we get to know the characters. I was a little confused at motives and plots of the Queen and Tristan and a little bewildered by the King and his condition which isn't explained all that well.

Besides that, Fallon is such an admirable character, ready to try and get things to work for the future he wants. Novi declining over a sense of protecting Fallon and really herself as she realizes her own morality. I'm baffled as to why she won't snatch some happiness for herself while she can instead of pushing Fallon away. It's truly maddening.

There are several things I'm confused about reading this book that will perhaps be clarified in the next one. How far the intimacy between Fallon and Novi got, did they ever complete things? What will happen to Tristan? Callie was manipulated so much, where did we confirm she actually liked working in the kitchen? How is it that Callie and Novi barely thought of one another when they went to the castle together and were friends? What's going on with the portal? Will the realm see more war? Who was doctoring the books? Why is Novi able to speak with the chimera?

For the reasons above, I downgraded the rating on this one.

2.5 / 5.0

I am not a fan of master x property relationships. The power dynamic is distasteful, especially so when one person can use “mind control” to compel compliance. It invalidates the consensual nature of every interaction.

Additionally, the world-building in this was lazy. It used long expositions to set forth information that could have been shown through better characters and a clever plot. There needed to be more showing and less telling. I also cannot fathom how so much technology was both present and absent from this world. Everyone seemed to know that contemporary Earth existed but no one ever endeavored to escape there.

Finally, the writing itself needed more development or help from editors. There are evocative bits here and there, but the majority is lackluster. The dialogue was not as witty or prosaic as I think the author believes it to be. I am also not entirely certain parts of this wasn’t written/amended with a generative language engine.

Overall, it wasn’t good enough for me to continue the series even though.

Until Next Time,
MC

This is a review for both books in this series. I have mixed feelings about this series. The first book was better than the second, but the second one had better world building, but lacked any conclusion. My problem is with the hero and heroine. The hero is supposedly a crown prince but can't do shit to save the heroine. He's pretty much useless for some unknown reason. The heroine is equally useless. She could have run away so many times. The 2nd book was unnecessarily repetitive without addressing any issues. I'm not sure if the 2nd book is the conclusion to the series but it does not feel complete. Too many unanswered questions. 1. What about the witches? 2. What happened to the King and Queen? I mean the Queen was a major villain and there is no mention of her?? There were these so called impediments to their relationship but the author just ties it up at the end with a cute ribbon and pretends they never even existed.

Rating: 4.8 ⭐
Age: Pg-21 (bc of sex scenes)
Genre: Fantasy-Fae,Demons,
Vamps,Werewolves,
dragons..witches..ect.
I'm a big fan of Fae Books but its hard to find a Good storyline these days. I do feel like I wanted to poke my eye out in a few spots in this book but that had more to do with olden times of classes and treating women like craps... I must say by the end of the 1st book I was hooked.. 2nd book just as good and still frustrating at times and I was a little mad bc I thought it was a 2 book series and well its not...so now I have to wait for 3rd book to come out(which doesnt even have a release date yet🤦‍♀️) this is a big No No for me .I like to wait till the whole series is done being releases before I start the review/read.
All in all its a good series so far.

Very fun classic story of mistaken identity that led to a deal of convenience being struck! It’s very bridgerton esque with the time period and courtly intrigue. Novi is a very likeable main character- she’s brash, unkempt, funny, and has a love of learning and a healthy curiosity and sense of justice. I always love when the FMC loves reading it feels like a nod and wink to the reader and it’s interesting that Novi likes reading anything and everything including applied mathematics for food service. Definitely will continue with this series!! The romance is very cute especially when in the first meeting Fallon reads Novi’s thoughts as she wonders whether his ballsack is sweaty and whether there’s someone whose job it is to ensure they’re not sweaty- just some classic thought tangents that come up when your nervously presented to the crown prince.

This is the start of a new series by Emigh Cannaday and it is very different than her other one Annika Brisby series........ It is also about elves and humans and another dimension. I found it to be a very compelling story. There is a great sadness to it the inequality between the lives of the elves and the humans. The variance in the conditions they live under and their lifespans. I cant say more than that because of spoilers. You will have to read and judge the story for yourselves. The author writes very imaginative and enthralling books that linger in the mind long after the last page closes. For me the last page left me with an ache, a longing, a need to find out what happens next. It is the sign of a great writer that I am left unsettled waiting for more.

This book was sad, intense, sexy, and amazing! I loved reading about the Dark Elves and as usual Emigh Cannaday's characters were very well done. Making me love or hate them depending on what side of the good or bad coin they fell on. And unfortunately for Novi when it comes to a royal family there is always some bad to go around.
As a fan of Cannaday's Annika Brisby series I especially enjoyed how bits and pieces overlapped giving a bigger glimpse of the world I've come to know so fondly. Though even if you haven't read the other series this book can absolutely be read without it.
All I know is I am completely hooked and can't wait to see what happens next. And I'm my opinion Prince of Persuasion is recommended.

This is a spin off from one of my favourite book series and Im not sure about it just yet. I did enjoy the book and I think as the stories begin to intertwine it will become great but the two Princes just didn't hold as much fascination for me as Talvi (the love interest in the Brisby books).

I also found this more political and a heavier read than the first Brisby book - although as you progress into that series it does take a darker turn, the initial world and character building is light and fun. I don't feel you get the same build up with Novi.

I'm very keen on the next book which is releasing tomorrow and wondering if Novi can rise above her mere human heritage.

One for the favorite shelf!

Emigh Cannaday blew my mind with the Annika Brisby series and I honestly didn't think that it would be possible for another series to captivate me the way that that one did. This books is so we'll written and so we'll thought out. Novi is an amazingly fierce albeit sometimes stupidly mouthy human who is determined to make her life and the lives of all humans in the dark elf world more prosperous and fulfilling. Fallon is the perfect mix of arrogant and entitled. It is amazing to watch him become humble as he falls head over heels in love with his human girl.

You absolutely must read this book!

As an ARC member, I was privileged to read Prince of Persuasion. Emigh you have done it again! The story line pulls you in from the first page and holds you until the last.
The emerging love story and the traumas of past experiences make this book relatable and compelling. Fallon and Novi move the reader through emotions of love, frustration, compassion, joy, anger and betrayal. If ever two were meant to be, it’s these two. I’m looking forward to continuing Fallon and Novi’s journey. Thank you Emigh Cannaday.

I love all of Emigh Cannaday's books as she has such great character development and world building. Novi Navarro, the main character, was a human girl that was both strong willed and smart. However, I felt frustrated that she felt like she was not good enough for Prince Fallon. Prince Fallon was a good ruler, but was not very persuasive in my opinion. Novi and Fallon had great chemistry, but I find their relationship a bit confusing at times. However, the family drama, potential war, and unique world of mystical creatures made for a very exciting read.

I liked it a lot.

I enjoyed a lot Fallon and Novi story. They come together in the most unexpected way. Some mixing papers and poor human girl Novi finds herself in the castle of Prince Fallon ready to be part of his harem.

Fallon is a hard-working prince, serious and couldn't care less for his duty to produce and heir. Until he's forced to have his harem.

There're some funny moments because Fallon and Novi are so different. However they'll find in each other what they were looking for. But they come from worlds apart and there're many people and laws in their way...

Good reading.

Romance between a Elf prince and a bar maid human

I love Novi is strong and book smart she was so funny I actually laughed out loud several times. Fallon I liked him but he's a little bit of a spoil prince with to much on his shoulders and not enough authority to get things done. I don't know if they ever have sex because the sex scenes where weird to me. There's another book to this series and I hope its complete but I doubt it. This author takes years to complete a series I'm still waiting on a ending to her The Annika Brisby Series going on two years now.

Sometimes it is dumb luck, sometimes it's fate. One woman is all it takes to commit to change. One must always be prepared for the snakes in the nest before it is too late.
I absolutely love this author!!!! She never seems to keep me guessing. Every emotion felt but there is this huge smile on my face regardless of the journey. Received books one and two in the mail this morning. ... book 2 here I come
