I have been an avid reader for longer than I can remember, desiring the darker, edgier works of Bram Stoker, Stephen King, Dean Koontz. I first started writing in High School giving that away when my first attempt was nothing more than dribble. I wish now that I kept at it, pursued it with a hunger that I currently possess.
Writing is my passion, it is what fuels the fires inside of me and it is an all-or-nothing furnace that keeps me up at all hours.
I am married to a wonderful supportive husband, I have 2 wonderful kids and the best friends that I have waited some 35 odd years to meet.
This series was not for me. I managed to finish book one, made it part way through book two before giving up and skipping book four to read the last 6 or 7 chapters just to see the ending.
The writing style was totally disjointed 1st person, making the story line hard to follow. The main character came across as schizophrenic, the character development was practically nonexistent, and the relationships between the characters rarely made sense.
The entire plot line made no sense, especially book two where the main character keeps secrets from her men, all the while angsting over her past and her mother.
If it had been better written, it could have been a good series.

Lorn is getting the worst lowly jobs as a hunter from the Sigil and not even getting paid what she deserves...She keeps on ticking even while taking a licking. When she meets her mates, she can't conceive that she has finally gotten whet she always wanted plus 1.. A human? An Archangel and a Hell hound what could be better? Certainly not being the daughter of Lucifer Morningside, that's right the devil himself! Follow Lorn and her mates as they travel and fight against the most evil beings that are trying to destroy her father through her....No way, no how!
This series is fantastic and it was such a pleasure to re-read this story in 1 sit! Try it you'll love it!
I read books 1-3 before I got this box set. This is one of my favorite series and now that it is in a convenient with all 4 books, it made my day. Lorn is such a strong character and fights for what she believes in and for those she loves, even if it will hurt herself. I like Rival and Gabriel but Titus is my favorite. Redemption, what can you say about Redemption besides he kind of needs some? He is one of those in the beginning you love to hate but you don't know if you hate him or love him more. Rival, I love him but he made me mad in book 3 but he figured it out in the end. Gabriel, I love him too and I understand why he had to go back home after what him and Lorn went through. But I'm glad he got it together in the end. Lorn from book 1 to 4 has been trying to figure out the truth of her past and unravel all the lies surrounding her. When things start to make sense but then again are certain people in her life still keeping important things from her.....things go from bad to worse by the end and beginning of book 3-4. Holy sweet baby monkeys, book 4 is intense and dark. But not only does Redemption achieve his namesake but all 4 of Lorn's men prevail in the end. Lorn learns a lot abut what her father was keeping from her at the end of book 4 and I did not see that twist coming and it makes me excited for the series yet to come in the future. Hopefully this is not the last we hear of Lorn and her men, here is hoping they make an appearance in the new series. But there is a fabulous offer at the end of the box set to tide us over till the new series. So excited to continue on this journey! Awesome box set and a must read series!
At the start of the book I liked our heroine ( who seems to be some where between 22&25 in age ) she seemed smart and irreverent and snarky and sarcastic but street wise and seemed to know when to push and when to dial it back and pull away from the edge... Your classic underdog in a lot of ways... downtrodden and getting close to being burned out and over used but still trying to do the right thing and fight the good fight....
I’m of two minds on this... On one hand I felt this was two well written to babe easily dismissed and just forgotten or thrown away but on the other hand , the plot as you think about especially after you through a book or soo never really makes sense.... and the relationships never get the time and support and fleshing out they need, they just seem to fall in and out of place... While the plot turns in circles seeming to turn back on its self at times and the h goes from smart and strong willed, with a good sense of self protection,to almost a TSTL running head long into danger alone keeping secrets from men she barely knows but swears she’s falling in love with and that they belong to her and her them, all the while keeping secrets constantly and foolishly running off into danger alone without them.....
One minute this woman turned fool,is inwardly lamenting how she’s always forced to go it alone and be alone to suddenly having three men who suddenly want her and love her.. All keeping secrets ( except Titus the cop, I guess), her especially, and even after almost getting killed and definitely abused multiple times she still runs off into danger alone ... Dear lord, I hate TSTL characters but especially ones who you know knows better.... The pacing keeps everyone soo busy the relationships aren’t really there one minute and they’re all there either fighting for her or effortlessly seeming to share her the next... ⚠️ possible spoilers ⚠️ It’s all soo weird... Supposedly she can’t have friends or lovers or family ,because that will make “the nine” these power loving crazies think she’s “dangerous” and she’ll be unsafe soo everyone cowers from them and leaves her alone to do supernatural dirty work in “the circles “ dirty crimes unit. But after the goes on a killing spree and kills two of them (all human but one of them) the circle goes and wipes them out... huh ? When supposedly even Lucifer and the whole rest of the supe works couldn’t ban together and do that ?when they’ve been supposedly terrorizing them for over 20 years ? Seriously ? Supposedly Lucifier had to release a crazy drug with his blood to open her up to her powers to find her and yet she’s been working and lining in the same city her whole life ? For a company her grandmother started ? And yet the hellgound and the angel he sent to watch out over her knew where she was ? Again. Seriously? See it’s stuff like this that never makes sense...and seem circle ⭕️ back around themselves... Them after getting caught and hurt and tortured, one lover is in the hospital ( for different reasons) , One succumbs to PTSD from the torture, one can’t describe where his loyalties lie, and the other is just a weird kinda wuss who can’t decide who he is or what he wants ... but nothing is front about him or his motivations ... too much is glossed over at times and too much is ugly and brutal but none of it is fleshed out and dealt with like it needed to be.... Soo Lorn the h want vengeance and she wants it now... Her barely there new found, barely formed family is ripped apart and instead of her staying put to fix it,she runs off alone for vengeance and revenge be calls it justice... All he men for one reason or another flake on her... Except one but he was in a coma.... Now ok, some of what she did and had to be done but she didn’t really stop and think about what she was doing... it felt more like running a blind and just happening to accomplish something but of course almost getting killed along the way... The series was a weird mash up of too much detail in some places ( like where she’s being held hostage in the unseelie realm second time and the sadistic sexual practices the evil queen was involved in) then the moment they all escape where some of them are still supposedly naked back into the human realm, all her men have suddenly decided to propose to her... really ? WTH ? None have really had a chance to make up or talk out or about all that’s happened .. Seriously. They go from her being rescued after her killing spree alone, everyone one had abandoned her, then they come to try and rescued her, then race to get the one out of the hospitality save him, save him, then off the square off with the unseelie... she almost immediately gets taken hostage, suffers thru most of book four, then finally at the end of book four they all rescue each other from the dark realm of the unseelie and the moment they return, it’s “will you marry us?” WTH ? Tell me how that makes sense ?
"White feathers fell from the sky with hate." What?????? The author used hate weird in several sentences. I wanted to yell use rage, revulsion, disgust just stop using hate. Lorn was misused and abused by so many people near her but they loved her. They saw her starving, barely paying rent and still able to fight the monsters but no one came to her aid not even her bad ass grandmother who did it to protect her. This story went in so many directions but Lorn stayed the same. She knew she was a target but still she went out by herself not once or twice but many times because she was a badass who keep getting her ass beat. This could have been a great story. I love the side characters more than the main one, Lorn. I saw glimpses of hell and wanted more but NOT through Lorn eyes, shit her internal thoughts drove me mad. I pushed myself to finish not to see what happen to Lorn but I wanted to know more about everyone around her. Then twin sister came into the picture. Duh saw that coming. In the beginning he said he did not know about her until later on in HER life and her grandmother keep her from him so how did she visit hell when she was five. AND if the sister did, ???????????(shaking my head) This STORY.
Book 1 - Good. I enjoyed it, it started great, kickass female hunter doing shit jobs because she's being punished for being the granddaughter of the Circle founder. Unknowing who her dad is, until a drug starts making the Paranormal people act out, and finally she finds out that she is the heir to hell. Book 2 - Filler stuff. Lose a guy, She goes a bit off the rails trying to find the mysterious 9, she gets captured of course a big amount of torture in the unseelie realm at the hands of the hag and the prince. Secrets are kept. She gets info from her grams ref her mom's death by way of diary. However no one actually sits this woman down and tell the full story or what it is she is up against. Waste of space all of the helpful people. Oh not much dad time either. Fuck that blurb on book 2 then yeah when she really only wants him for the occasional hug, but still feels bitter about him. Book 3 - Oh no, time's ticking for Titus in a coma. The relationship with the men she marked are in tatters, one's broken from torture from the unseelie realm, the other is being her puppy until of course Lorn goes hell bent for finding this one of the nine. Why?? good question but apparently to save her dying fella ( who's fluffy little animal in colours will protect him) Rival can't choose Lorn over his boss with a two seconds notice so she drops him in a flash. Off she goes to hunt, but oh yes here come another wishy washy male that's dying to get back in her pants of course. Hence why this book is about Redemption becoming redeemable and making his space safe in her harem. Revelations about the human who is oh wait for it, maybe not so human after all.
Book 4 - Daddy dearest finally pulls out the guns and makes the Unseelie queen come forward with her torturing son,but oh no it's swapsies that no one saw coming, and Lorn is taken to the Queens palace. The majority of this one then centres around Lorn trying to understand what' happening with the queen, the bad history of Redemption there and her men trying to get to her. This all culminates with a big shag fest to free redemption permanently then the worse tying up of ends ever as woah, the Circle has arrested the remainder of the nine. This nine who for years have been the scourge and feared by everyone, now suddenly become catchable all because Lorn finally comes into .....exactly nada. And of course her men all want to marry her, woop de dooop two seconds free and all on their knees, because love and mates etc and really why not she's already branded them after first sex so this is just formality at this point.
But no it doesn't end there, because shucks more secrets and yup there's a twin sister who she sees for point 2 of a second before she is taken and the next set of books start |heaven is a Harem.
Conclusion. So fast paced when reading all together, you lose your way and nothing makes sense.
Lorn (no last name) is a hunter of paranormal bad guys & works for The Circle; The Circle was founded by her grandmother, Alma Goodchild, but, her grandmother was just a human.
In the 1st book, Lorn tries to find out who is making the new drug “Sigil”; she meets Titus who she 1st believes is human like her; she run into a pst lover named Redemption who is an Unseelie; a Hellhound named Rival & the Archangel Gabriel.
& yes, they are the men in her harem. Besides finding them & who her father is, she does find out that she’s on part human.
Book 2 - Has her searching for answers about who killed her mom. She not only finds those answers but finds more questions & gets some heart ache to as Alma dies; Titus winds up in the hospital after nearly being burnt to death in a fire & Gabriel’s not himself after being tortured by the person who killed her mom.
Book 3 - Lorn goes after the 9 (evil humans that want to take over the & Heaven & Hell too) as the are the group that took her mom & tortured her before she died. In this book she feels abandoned by all of her men but Titus as he’s still in a coma at the hospital. She meets people who help her along her way after she was shot in the thigh after killing 1 of the 9. & she finally figures out how to help Titus wake up. She also runs into someone who used to live in her apartment building before it burnt down & he also shows up in the 4th book with some shocking news. In the end of this book though she gets kidnapped by Mab, the Unseelie Queen.
Book 4 - is about Lorn’s struggle to remain sane in the Unseelie realm; making up with her men & finding out that she’s a twin.
Now that I’ve given you a little insight about what happens in this series, it’s your turn to read all about who her father is, who made “Sigil”, how Alma died & why was Lorn & Gabriel tortured & by who; ... & everything else I didn’t tell you about.
Book 1 This was my second time through for book 1, Lorn is a fascinating protagonist, proud to a fault, loyal, and capable. I really enjoy the build up of Rival and Titus as her harem with Gabriel as the more reluctant third. The Redemption ex storyline makes me very curious for book 2. (4/5 stars)
Book 2 This was my second time through book 2 as well. This book got very dark, very fast. If you are squeamish, this isn't the book for you. I enjoyed the small amounts of romance, but if you're hoping for a more feel good paranormal book - choose something else. (3/5 stars)
Book 3 Lorn embarks on a journey of hurt feelings, rage and revenge. It got darker than I thought it could - but Redemption is all over this book and I really enjoy his character. You get to find out Titus' backstory, see Hell, and generally get to know everyone a little better. (4/5 stars)
Book 4 Lorn gets taken by the Unseelie queen and shit gets extra super dark. There's torture and not nice stuff all over the place. However the lengths that Gabriel, Redemption, Rival and Titus go to get Lorn back make it worth the read. I shuddered a lot but the end was worth it.
Wow. Idk where start. Maybe with I have read this author before, and each time is a mind-blowing experience! I had to get this set after reading the first book. I feel in love with the fm mc, Lorn. She is hot-headed and cold-hearted for work. But inner flame burns through her veins, letting her take care of herself and her men. Yes. Men. Multiple. She will go to hell and back, through the Seelie and Unseelie realms. Back and forth on Earth. This series is not for the soft-hearted. This series is for those who dare to take a stand against opinions and thoughts and ideas of religion, marriage and everything else you think you know bc that is what you were taught was right or wrong. Get ready to dive into heat and flames. You will choke on the smoke. You will sizzle inside and out. What else would you expect other that a lick of fire when in hell?
This was such a great series! The idea for the storyline was amazing as it had hellhounds, archangels, dragons, fae and humans all rolled into one mind blowing world. I loved the concept of The Circle - an agency designed to protect the innocent, with their agents called hunters, whether they be supes or human didn't matter as long as they were willing to hunt. I won't give too much away but the twists in this story were on point, I actually didn't see most of them coming which is a first for me - so I loved that this books series wasn't predictable. The harem for this story besides being smoking hot, have really well thought out characters and backgrounds so I applaud this as they weren't just pretty faces. The MC was such a badass with a vulnerable heart that I instantly connected to as well. So overall, this books series is completely binge worthy!
DNF at 16%. I couldn't take it anymore. I have never given a 1 star review to an RH before but my god this was terrible. The writing makes you feel like your getting whiplash reading it with the way it jumps around and it is nearly impossible to tell who is speaking at one time. The whole beginning of it is about her working a case with a human and they are awkward with each other and her guardian angel being told to never bother her again. Then the hellhound shows up and I kid you not within 2 pages of him showing up and telling her his name suddenly she wants a relationship with him and the human. The human who she has many many times talked about how she would never have feelings for a human.
Hell is a Harem was my first introduction to reverse harem books. It blew my mind with it's steamy times and an amazing plot. Demons, hellhounds, angels, unseelie and seelie and Lucifer himself. A strong cast of amazing individuals that simply come alive on the page and sweep you along Lorn's and her men's story. If you haven't started this series, then I highly recommend getting all 4 of diving in. But prepare yourself to not emerge until you have read the very last page. Kim Faulks should be on your must read list!
I absolutely adored all four books. I messed up and read heaven is a harem books 1 & 2 first 😬 oops my bad. But I went back and read Lorns story and man ow as missing out. This series took over my life for days. I loved all four men although if I am being honest redemption was my favorite. But Titus has a special place in my heart as well. I was heart broken and happy and crying and mad and all my emotions went on a roller coaster during these four books. Absolutely amazing series!
This (or rather these) books are filled with action and suspense that made it hard to put down. Lorn and her men (Titus, the mortal who’s not, Rival, the hellhound, Gabriel, the Archangel, and Redemption, the Unseelie) will make you laugh, keep you on the edge of your seat, and make you want to cry. I love all of the twists and turns and (spoiler) the surprise at the end.
This four book set is like nothing I’ve read before. This may be a reverse harem but don’t expect any sweet romance. This is fighting for those you love. Willing to die and kill for them. Going to hell, heaven and other realms type of love. So hold on tight this is one romance that will leave you reeling for more. What do you expect when she loves a fallen angel, hellhound, unseelie (type of fae) and a human that may be so much more.
Fantastic book! I bought this on a whim, but I will definitely be looking out for more KIM Faulks in the future. This was not only 'hot ', but also had a great story line. I'm glad I got to read the whole series, I would have been left chomping wanting to know what happened, or hoping I was in Wi-Fi, in order to download the next instalment. Loved all the characters and her Harem, an eclectic mix of characters, that gelled and worked.
The premise has merit but the fact that Lorn who is basically a paranormal detective has such little common sense, intuition, or deductive reasoning skills is off putting. The fact that she is supposed to be so tough yet has been a mess since the first half of book one also doesn’t bode well. I’m also not sure if Gabriele not knowing the difference between ingenious and indigenous is funny, sad, or just F’ed up.
I enjoyed this series. Lorn really learns so much about herself as the story continues and has tough choices to make. The men in her life are so different from one another and each really bring something different to her life. I love her relationship with her father. It is complicated but you can feel the love between them.
I really liked this boxset and binge read it over 2 days. The characters were good and the plot was interesting. There were a few problems for me with consistency and the plot seemed to circle on itself a little and some situations were just a little too much. In saying that though, I really did enjoy it.
Great books. I love the main character. I almost wish there was another book just to go into the guys backgrounds. It's great to see a little discord between the guys, makes it more believable. Fast paced and never boring. Cliff hanger end but cant wait for the next related series.
I really enjoyed this series. Lorn is an amazing FMC. The storyline was thrilling and even when it was dark, it was still engaging. I look forward to reading Remi's story to see where it goes. This was an easy 5 star review for me. Anyone that enjoys paranormal RH will enjoy this series.
Parts of it but as a whole nope. The whole story felt jumbled, like I had been dropped into book two and missed the entire first book. The books were fraught with secrets and lies making the plot and storyline a knot. While I'm okay with some twists and turns in a book with this series all I got was a headache. I will not be reading the follow-up series.
This has been such an epic read. Just know before you start, you may be reading into the night because you can't put it down. Action, adventure, love … it's a well written story you will love.
I really enjoyed this book series and loved the characters and how they came together. I can't wait to see what will happen next with this series especially since Lorn has a twin sister.
Very imaginative, a bit funny, dark and interesting. A good read and well written. Worth a read. I really liked Redemption's character and he goes through a lot for the woman he loves and Rivals humour and Titus's steadfast character.
This series was just awesome! Every word was enthralling, the story unique. I loved how each character played against the other. The infighting and the vengeance and the love that poured through this boxed set was just incredible!
The daughter of Lucifer builds her own harem with a hellhound, angel, human, and unseelie. At first I thought the books would have a horrid ending but it ties into the next series, heaven is a harem.
Couldn’t put this boxed set down until I’d finished,it was a brill read and well worth reading .The books followed each other seamlessly and the action was pretty much non stop
