Recently divorced, downsized, and soon to be without a home, his move to Faderville is supposed to be temporary. All he has to do is sell his uncle’s farm, then he can return to success and civilization in New York City. The farm he inherited, however, comes with unforeseen responsibilities. When his ex announces her engagement and the job he’d hoped for falls through, Grayson figures his luck has completely run out. He can’t deal with life anymore. Then, fate intervenes in the form of a dog. Sooner only needs a foster home while her owner recovers, so it’s not a long-term commitment anyway. But the dog turns out to be more of a challenge than Grayson bargained for.

Right from the first 3 chapters, this story just grabs you and holds you until the end. What starts out as a tragedy makes you want to keep reading to see if somehow it will turn into something good. Often, this story brought tears to my eyes especially when it came to Sooner.

Here you have Brandy and Sooner, her Australian Shepherd, who love to travel and attend dog shows when things don’t go according to plan. There is Greyson, where city boy meets country and wonder which one will win. But best of all are Sooner’s great monologues which are so important to the story.

What makes this story really shine is you are seeing it from Brandy, Sooner and Greyson’s points of view. You don’t have to guess what is really going on in their minds, they just tell you. It is a story about how good can come out of something very bad. It makes me want to know more about these characters and see where their stories could go.

Each book in the series is better than the last

I'm loving the Faderville series. And this one, full of hope, is the best. It does stand alone from the other stories.

Sooner asks some questions that I've often wondered if my foster/adopted pets have asked: why am I in this new home? When will my real family appear? Why wasn't I good enough to stay?

One flaw in the plot: at the beginning, Sooner was hesitant, non-trusting of all people but Brandy. However with Grayson, she is greeting every stranger on the street.

Slow beginning but great story

I had some trouble getting into the storyline but once I did it turned into a great book. Grayson’s life falls apart before he inherits a farm. With no intention of keeping it he travels there to sell it but events lead him in a different direction after finding a lost dog and learning to care for her and the horses he inherits. Love blooms between the dog’s owner and Grayson. Although circumstances forbids their love or does it. Highly addictive series would recommend it to those who love dogs.

I loved this book!

While I'm not fond of first-person dog stories, having Sooner tell what triggered her and how our expressions and tone of voice affect our dogs, gave me great insight. This was a wonderful story, all about finding ourselves and the influence our dogs have on our lives was really insightful. Love a good love story, especially when the dog wins!

i bought it for 99 cents-its so good, im so glad i bought it!! I LOVED THIS BOOK

the dog was returned twice. then a lady who knows how to train her adopted her

then they were in a car accident. the dog went up to the highway for help. the cop saw her and then the accident. they airlifted the owner to the hospital. but the dog was left on her own with a hurt bleeding leg

meanwhile a man who was married 25 yrs is divorced by his wife for not paying attention to her. he is alone now. he lost his job which is all he ever lived for the whole time he was married

then he finds a uncle he only saw once or twice died and left his farm in ky to him. he is going there to sell it. a neighbor said she was taking care of the animals but she cant anymore. he knows nothing about it and thinks he will just sell everything.

the dog ends up at his farm, saved his life, he was going to take pills but heard the rucus when the dog went into the barn where the horses were.

they were both fearful of each other, but grew to love each other. he took her to the vet and got her stitched up and meds (which she spit out)

they ran together, got stronger together

meanwhile his other owner was still in the hospital with a broken back and other injuries. she is making a long road to trying to walk. her dad had a stroke while she is in the hospital

she had to get another phone but finally got one of the texts from Sooners (the dog) new friend with her photo.

he bought a truck. hes trying to find out if his uncle owed more than he had. he is trying to sell the horses. he gave one to the neighbor who was taking care of them (she had to go out of town to her daughter to take care of her after a operation)

there is a business in town that needs a person who does what he did for a living before he got let go. he cant find a new job but he thinks he might want to go back to NY. but hes meeting new people in the town thanks to the dog. everyone talks to the dog , then him

the lady is in a facility cause she has no one to take care of her. she had to sell her house
shes in a wheel chair but is trying to walk. in a lot of pain
he calls her and arranges to come visit. he brings the dog as a surprise.
she loves her dog so much, and her dog loves both of them, the man loves her too
the dog wants them all to live together on the farm
they talk and get to know each other and like each other

the neighbor comes home, she still wants the horse he wants to give her. she thinks he should open a boarding place there. he doesnt know what he is going to do and still no answers from the lawyer about the estate

he got a good job offer in ny but didnt take it
he wanted to stay on the farm and have a relationship with the dogs owner (they both finally told each other they love each other) and the dog they both love who loves both of them

it was so good! i wish i could read all the dog books by this author

Run for your life!

That phrase takes on so many meanings in this moving story. This is the one about the champion dog and her trainer who get in a car accident, and the man who finds the doggie after she has been through trials and tribulations... A heartwarming story about how the dog and the man save each other, and how they, in turn, save the trainer... And all of the people that help and/or are helped in the process. As usual, I found that I could relate to a lot of it--so many lessonsto be learned! Another moving, fantastic Faderville novel.

Another wonderful read in the Faderville series. I laughed, teared up, and laughed some more. This author knows dogs and is so spot on about dogs and what they have to be thinking and their reactions to us. Great story and characters and loved the character development.

When

It was good. I can't believe I just finished the last one. I hope she writes more. I like the town but mostly the dogs. I like the way she writes too. It is all inclusive and I like that. I hope she writes more.

I spent a weekend reading the third book. Didn't realize it was a series. Then went back and read book one and two (they really can stand alone, though) and finally this one. For anyone that is a dog lover, this series is wonderful. Highly recommend!

Hopelessness? Never!

Sometimes you can see the ending of a story long before it ends. This was one of those stories - but that didn't t diminish the happy tears in any way. A happy light read.

Three could never be a crowd .

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a wonderful love story that involves a party of three. Tragedy drew them together and love blossomed from there with the help of a man who really turned out to be a true friend.

Say When by Gemini Sasson

As I have said before, I love reading the Faderville Novels. I am just sorry I am nearing the end, two more to go. I wish they could go on and on. As a dog and animal lover myself I find Gemini’s stories so true and descriptive and interesting.

another threw-hankie!

This is more of a classic chick-lit romance than the other installments so far, and a bit different than my usual genre.

Not sorry I read the book.

Now on to book 5

This is the 4th book in the series I’ve read. And it was every bit as thought provoking as the previous three. I love Sasson’s writing style, interesting characters and life lessons. I can’t wait to meet new characters in the final two novels.

This is part of a great series of standalone stories for dog and people lovers. It vividly tells how a dog can impact the lives of the people in her life.

Good story

It ended okay, but wore me out getting there. This series is quite different from any others I've read -- from the dog's perspective.

Sweet book, sort of like the ones I read in 7th grade 60 years ago. So very predictable. No challenges here.

Great Characters

This may be the best representation I've ever read about how a dog thinks. I liked the characters. The plot kept me engaged to the very last page.
