I work on a platform product (Android) so found it interesting to see value described in a non-linear way with external partners and consumers. The book has useful examples from the past 10 years. I enjoyed the analysis of 'low profit' vs 'social good' models and the successful examples of how social good can provide value for low income consumers while maintaining quality standards.
I would actually give it 4.5. Would be great if the HBR'10 Must Reads books would be more engaging. For the quality of the information in them, they deserve 6, though sometimes it requires considerably more effort to read them than a similar type of books built on a central idea elaborated in chapters.
Tough to rate since this isn't a book but 10 distinct articles, some of which are great, and some of which are so-so. The great ones made this a worthwhile read.
Smart book, and great examples. The rating just reflects the relevance today. The book was a 5 star in 2015. But dated now - conceptually and with the examples
I’m reading this as I’m starting my journey on a new business venture. Definitely the right read at the right time. Really captivating insights with some great examples. The concepts helped me got out of a rut more than a few times and there’s no doubt this book will help all my fellow managers/entrepreneurs out there.
Typical HBR must reads. Every single article worths a second, third, ..., read. I want to particularly highlight the last article about social business model.
My favorite article was of course from Mark Johnson and Christensen - "Reinventing Your Business Model". A very good book to own by Leaders, Managers and Entrepreneurs.
