When Jenny King takes pity on an older confused gentleman, almost everyone tells her she is making a huge mistake. Boyfriend Adam is convinced harm will come to her with the old man staying at her house. What really happens? Well he makes cookies with Jenny and introduces her to a special ingredient to make her chocolate chip cookies even better than they already are. He encourages her when she is discouraged about the lack of Christmas presents and celebration in the local Children's home. They laugh together and she cooks for him and he appreciates all she does. He even gives each child at the orphanage a very special candy cane.

This sweet Christmas story reminds me of a Hallmark movie...predictable but oh so much fun to get to the ending! The mystery isn't what I thought it was going to be-or wait, maybe it was? For less than a dollar you will have a story you could read to anyone (a nice way to spend an hour in a nursing home or visiting in a hospital) and share pleasure with others. It certainly is a lovely Christmas message from a wonderful cozy mystery author.

This is a novella, a short story, that is perfect for the busy holiday season. It took no time at all to read but was a great distraction from the hectic holiday. The story was a cute and enjoyable cozy with just enough mystery surrounding the main character, and the little town of Pelican Cove, that are working together on a much-needed fundraiser for the children of Cary House. The main character, Jenny King, takes in a kindly elderly man, someone very similar to Santa, who has been handing out candy canes to the children of Pelican Cove. Because it's the holiday and no one should be alone at this time Jenny invites him into her home. Jenny's kindness brings her and her friends a surprise for Christmas.
This is a feel-good story, that will warm your heart for the holiday season. Put your feet up, grab something warm to drink, maybe a few Christmas cookies and enjoy.

Jenny is trying to raise money for the Children's Home. There is a man giving candy canes out to children near the beach behind Jenny's cafe. She wonders who he is. She talks to him and he tells her his name is Harry and his family will be picking him up soon. She invites him to come to her house for supper. When nobody comes to get him, she tells him he can sleep in the guest bedroom. Adam doesn't like it and tells her the man could be dangerous. He seems to just be a confused elderly man. When he hears about the Home he wants to go there with her and he gives each child a special candy cane. The candy canes turn out to be so much more. This is a heart warming Christmas story that will get you in the mood.

I finally finished this at 6:02 A.M.on 8-3-20. If interesting that Goodreads knew I was done before me telling everyone here online. So, with that said! [ The main character's in this E-book, A Jenny King in the town of Pelican Cove is needing help the orphaned children getting their Christmas gifts. With the help of a few close-knit friends and a stranger named Harry. Harry was hanging out on the beach chatting with locals and children. He claims that his wife left him wondering thru town but he ends up befriends Jenny who runs a Cafe shop. Jenny offers him a free meal and a place to stay until his wife comes back to get him. She thinks he is friendly but her other friends and the local sheriff doesn't by his story. You can find out what happens next 1-10 chapters, It was a heartwarming story but I couldn't find the Cozy mystery part?

I am volunteering to review this book for the author. The BEST Christmas story of the year! I would totally make friends with someone like Harry and do everything I could for him. I had a feeling about the candy canes but I still cried when I read about the kids opening their gifts. An amazing, inspirational story that is making my Christmas look alot better. THANK YOU, Ms. Clover

A feelgood Christmas fairy tale for adults. An old man is befriended, fed and given a place to stay prior to Christmas despite some people's misgivings. Harry and his family own a toy factory up north and he can't stay for long as he has to take a world trip early Christmas morning . . .

(I like to review each story in a collective so I'm doing each one separately.)

This was a mostly sweet Christmas tale with a little bit of whimsy. I wasn't too keen on a couple of the relationships between characters.

A sweet story about the miracles that happened at Christmas. Especially for people who give of themselves and from the heart. Helping other people is at the very heart of the main character, Jenny. A warm hearted story.

A Quick Christmas Read

Maybe took 45 minutes to read this short Christmas story. A predictable ending but charming story line. And a new Christmas cookie idea!
