I enjoyed this series. Like most isekai series, the MC is a villainess from a fantasy world that merges with someone from our world. The book starts out with the cliché broken engagement scene. I was worried that this book would have too many cliches, but I was pleased that the author added her own spin to an overused genre. The MC becomes a fief lord after being kicked out of school. She does an amazing job handling her fief through political BS and war. I really enjoyed that the book got deep into politics. This book encouraged young women to be leaders. We need more books like that out there. The original characters from the “original” story take a backseat in this series. I especially like it when you find out the original FL is an evil spy. I think my favorite character has to be the MC mother, she is both a popular duchess and the strongest soldier in the country. Overall, this was an amazing series, and if you like light novels then I highly suggest it.
This final volume of the series finishes Mer's tale from her childhood to marrying Louis. While it isn't pointed out anywhere, it would seem that they named their eldest child, Berne, after their lost friend from that fateful battle. Dean even makes an actual appearance in the end for a cute little scene with him, Iris, and their children, rather than just being referenced along the way. This is one rather large family that has a very interesting history behind the scenes of the kingdom in many ways.

With this volume Merellis' story from her younger years and how she met Iris' father is finished. It was a bit of a melodramatic read, and Merillis is kind of too skilled in everything, but that is nothing new. Still, it was a decently entertaining read and a good end if somewhat stereotypical for the genre.
The end of an 8 volume journey. The main part (volumes 1-5) were already great but the prequel (6-8) were just as good. I hope to read more from the author.
