What makes a dystopian story compelling is the posibility of it becoming reality. This book has that in spades! In a world where everyone has to be equal, those with dreams and talents that outshine the rest are "disappeared." Rue Logan was always different though she managed to hide it with the help of her uncle. When the time came for her to be an "adult," the Department of Equality (DOE) assigned her quarters, her husband, and her job--a janitor in a hospital--a place where one is more likely to die than survive. Rue masquerades as a doctor and does what she can with the limited training she's managed to achieve on her own. And then things spiral out of control.
Who can she trust? Who should she believe? And why is all this happening? No spoilers. This is an edge-of-your-seat thriller that will keep the reader turning/swiping pages.
I read it first for free with Kindle Unlimited and then I bought a digital copy for my keeper shelf. I would have finished it sooner but my darn eyesight limited the number of pages I could read in one sitting. Trust me, this one was worth the blurry vision!
