This is a full length novel, the lengthened and rewritten version of the Amish Christian Romance novella, The Way Forward.
Everyone thinks the handsome Amos Troyer is perfect for Esther Miller—everyone, that is, except Esther herself. So when her mother's meddling gets too much, Esther hatches a scheme of her own. She asks her friend Jacob Hostetler to pretend to be her boyfriend. Yet does Jacob have motives of his own? How will Esther's secret change her life in a way she never thought possible?
USA Today Best-selling author Ruth Hartzler spends her days writing, walking her dog, and thinking of ways to murder somebody. That's because Ruth writes cozy mysteries and adventures. She is best known for her archaeological adventures, for which she relies upon her former career as a college professor of ancient languages and Biblical history.
I am really enjoying this series! Esther, the second of the Miller sisters is at the age to think about marrying. She is not ready yet but everyone seems to think Adam Troyer is perfect for her. Her mother is in full matchmaking mode so Adam is often invited to dinner. To try to avoid these embarrassing meetings Esther asks her long time friend Jacob Hosteler to pretend to be her boyfriend. Will this fool everyone or will it show Esther her true feelings? Wonderful story! I received a copy of this book from the author and I voluntarily wrote an honest review.
Esther is certain her mother wants to matchmake her with Amos. She doesn't like Amos, so she asks her friend, Jacob Hostetler to pretend that they are courting in order to stop her mother's embarrassing efforts.
What Esther doesn't recognize is that Jacob would love to make that pretend dating to be for real, but she's not sure he isn't really interested in someone else, particularly when that someone confides in her that Jacob and she are secretly dating, but he was afraid to tell Esther.
So now it's not just her mother who is hurting Esther's heart. How is she going to deal with all this?
I had to read all the way to the end in one session to find out the ending. This book had a little bit of everything and did not draw out the outcomes forever, which I do appreciate. Had a good ending, would have like to have read into a year later scene, but we can't get everything all the time. I enjoyed the book. J😉
This is a sequel to 'The Way Home'. Because of Esther's mom's matchmaking efforts, Esther gets Jacob to 'pretend' to court her. Things do not go well because of meddling not only from mom but from others. Good continuation of the Miller sisters.
The Way Forward is the second book written by Ruth Hartzler in her The Amish Millers Get Married series. This book takes us back to the Miller family and Mrs. Miller's matchmaking but this time she is pressing Esther to marry an Amish man that she is not attracted to. Esther is not having any of it and devises a plan to get her mother off her back. This story moves along at a quick pace and will keep the readers interest until the end.
I loved the characters od Esther and Jacob. The plan these two come up with will take them on a journey filled with twist and turns. Then Jessie Yoder enters the picture and creates havoc. This is one character that I really didn't care for but the author has done her job well because that is the way all readers should feel. I loved the storyline and the conclusion.
I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached by anyone to post a favorable review. I have rated this book with five stars for meeting my expectations of a fantastic story that I can highly recommend to others who enjoy the Amish genre.
Congratulations to Ruth Hartzler for writing another fantastic story for her readers to enjoy and add greatly to her series. I look forward to the next book in this series.
I really hate to tell others of faults but this could be a very good book with a good proof reader. On page 180 the name Hannah is used but it should be Esther. After corrections through out the book, I would recommend this to all Amish fiction readers. it is a sweet Love story.
Miss Hartzier has done it again. The second story in this series is so exciting. Jonah and Esther belonged together, sadly there are to many ladies like Jessie. I highly recommend this entire series and book. have a blessed day

The Way Forward was a cute story. As in Book One, this book was riddled with typos, missing words, extra words, words out of order - all things that should have been caught in editing.
