Well, this was a “hardly knew each other but felt like they could easily fall in love after all the touching, feeling, and loving that took place during their two night stand” kind of read, folks. Yeah, so much so it took up the first 40% of the storyline. They both felt an instant connection but emotional baggage kept each of them resigned to walking away after their twist.
Of course, fate had other plans, and they not surprisingly meet again. It continues playing out with tender hearted Luci looking at Landon like the sun and moon revolves around him. He’s equally still enamored of her, especially in regards to what he frequently refers to as her adorable blushing. For me, that constant reference/observation and comments why Landon was so perfect started to lose some of its charm. Likely around 75% when he still can’t say those three little words back to her, yet Luci responds he doesn’t have to. She just wants to make him feel good. Oh, I so wanted her to have enough self-respect to instead reply maybe they need to put the brakes on the sexcapades until his heart catches up with the rest of his body parts.
This ultimately was a sweet, very graphically smexy read, with a touch of sappy, somewhat frustrating at times characters who want to love but are slow to do so. Landon takes an eternity to realize he should stop judging all of womankind based on the self-centered actions of his manipulative ex-wife and allow himself to admit his love for Luci. She, in turn, has a lost to her family member issue she’s been dealing with that gets in the way of totally committing herself, as well.
Overall, it was not nearly as engaging and riveting as the two O’Brien Family series books I have read, Once Kissed and Let Me. However, if you like lots of steam and mild relationship angst between a been hurt before, good guy hero and a sweet, everyone loves her leading lady, Eternal might be a good source for you to turn to as your next romantic read.
