Piper Sullivan is an old school romantic who enjoys reading romantic stories as much as she enjoys writing them. She spends her time day-dreaming of dashing heroes and the feisty women they love.
Accidentally Wifed was a random book that I picked from my Kindle Unlimited. It seemed like it was going to be super cute and predictable.. but I just found myself being rather bored with the whole thing. It felt way too long and I honestly just wanted it to be done.
In this book, you will meet Magenta and Davis. I guess they were a cute couple but I lost my interest in them rather quickly. Most of this book had the same drama just continuously going. Again, I was just bored with it. I needed some twists and turns in this "drama" but I got nothing until almost the end of the book. Enter Davis's mom, who was probably my favorite character out of the whole book.
Sad to say that I have nothing really good to say about this book. It gave romance but it was nothing really memorable for me. I feel like two days was way too long for me to start and finish this book but it happened. I am glad that it's over and I hope that if and when I dive into another book by Piper it will be a lot better.
I have truly enjoyed every story in this series and had been looking forward to Mag’s and Davis’s story. Unfortunately, the story line, though a good one, dragged on longer than it should. I love that Magenta is a strong broken woman and I love that Davis’s clean cut strong image fell for her. However, At about 60%, I was feeling like we need to move past the same storyline drama. Granted that was about the time Davis’s mom showed up and I absolutely loved her character! I will further warn there are quite a few editing mishaps. Words are there without complete sentences (like they were cut in editing and not reread), and the wrong word (i.e. one and won) were used in others. Made it harder to read and almost felt like the book had been rushed to be produced.
Despite my negativism, I did enjoy the book and would recommend it; especially to readers that have read the other books in the series.
This book seemed like a cute, quick read but instead it quickly became a grammar/typo filled source of irritation. The author has tried to make the dialogue cute, but it's immature and that greatest of sins in my book, condescending. It's supposed to be a cliché-ridden small town, but it's forced. The awful way the friends talk to each other and interfere in each other's lives is written off as, "that's how friends act." I HATE adults who talk down to other adults. If a woman says she's not ready for a relationship, nothing will have me closing my kindle faster than someone else ignoring that and mansplaining (or interfering old biddy-splaining) that she just needs some good sex to be convinced. "I hoped she was just throwing a tantrum but I'm not so sure." Yeah, you totally respect her. There were also basic grammar and spelling mistakes that google docs or a few beta readers should have been able to catch. I don't require perfection, but I don't want to continually re-read sentences because of a missing comma or the wrong to/too. The whole thing just rubbed me the wrong way.
Pretty cute I liked this new opus in this series. The hero Davis is quite nice and almost perfect, facing a Magenta who doubts so much of her that she tries to scare everyone who approaches her. She is a tattoo artist and has already met Davis several months earlier in Las Vegas, and they find themselves sharing a house that her brother is renting when he comes to work as a fireman. They are always attracted to each other, but they discover that the express marriage they had had a few months before, was not canceled. Except, that as in previous books, at Belle Musique near New Orleans, when someone wants to divorce, everyone leagues to avoid it, like the lawyers who can suddenly go "walk" or "to be unreachable". Magenta is convinced that she can not love someone because he will suffer so she wants to leave at all costs. Davis must work tirelessly to break her walls. While this review may seem like I didn’t enjoy Accidently Wifed, the opposite is true. I found it a fun and interesting read, but did not have the warm fuzzies for the heroine for most of the book.
While snarky and wounded hero/heroines are usually my bag, I found Magenta to be a little too bitter. Without giving too much away, I understand her childhood wasn’t a bed of roses...but many people’s aren’t. I think she was hyper-sensitive to things she was old enough to overlook and outgrow.
Davis, on the other hand, was very likeable! He wasn’t dealt the best hand in life, either, but had a much sunnier disposition that Magenta. I often wondered what he saw in her or maybe he had a hero complex. He is a firefighter, after all!!
But as I said, I really did like the book and it was a great addition to Piper Sullivan’s “Accident” series, which I love! So I’m giving this a 3.75 star review, which I think is pretty dang good!!
This is another story about the little famous town in Louisiana and we get to catch up with the other couples from previous stories. We even get to read about Aunt Mae who just loves to interfere in everyone’s love life! This story is about Magenta and Davis. They have meet and even married over a year ago in Vegas thinking they were divorced and move on. Davis moves to this special little town and rents a house from her brother, Mason as Davis has accepted a job in the newly formed fire station. Their attraction to one another has not gone and Davis does everything in his power to show and remind her what they could have if she gets let’s him in! I enjoyed Magenta and her ability to be sassy and drive Davis a bit crazy. Davis fights for their marriage showing you everyone deserves to be happy once they discover it! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
First off, if I was Davis, I'm not sure I would have got out the car with Aunt Mae's newest members waiting for me 😂. I liked that it was Davis who was the one ready to settle down and Magenta the one who was scared. I really felt for Mags, why did no one but Davis notice her pain? I really enjoyed watching their relationship grow and seeing the changes to Mags through Davis' eyes based on who she was when they were previously together. I felt that there was unresolved issues with the her brother and would have liked to have seen that sorted out, finally had some understanding between them as I really understood where she was coming from and wanted others too as well. A good addition to the series. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an ARC.
Magenta has been something of a rolling stone, never staying long in any one place. As a talented tattoo artist, she can pretty much make her way anywhere she wants to go. Lately it’s been Belle Musique and her brother’s tattoo shop. Until he springs an unexpected roommate on her, making her feel that he doesn’t want her around. And to top it all off, her new roomie is someone from her past. Davis is a firefighter and former smoke jumper. When he decides that he needs to be more settled, he chooses a place that a very special woman he once knew talked about. There his past meets his future unexpectedly. Swoony and angsty but humorous, this story has the full cast of characters from Belle Musique.
This book had a good story line but needed more editing. There were many words left out of sentences that made a sentence not flow. After several more words being left out I adjusted and just kept reading. But this caused me to take longer then normal to read this book. Then there was the forgotten story line with Davis' mother. He told Magenta one story but when said mother came for a visit the story line changed completely. Had me very confused that I went back to double check if I was remembering it wrong. Nope, I was right! It is baffling that a writing doesnt remember what they write about their own characters. Other then those 2 issues the book had good characters and a nice story line.
This was such a fun read. I wish I would have realized that there were other books that has taken place previously so I could have read them first but as this isn’t a series it isn’t necessary to read in order, but I would have liked to. Mag is kind of a hot mess trying to find her place not realizing she’s already there, Davis is ready to settle down and he’s chosen to do so in a town that Mags had been talking about almost two years before when they met briefly in Las Vegas. When he saw a job opening there he felt that it was a sign. When he arrives he just so happens be renting from Mason, Mags’ brother and she happens to be there as well. This a surprise as neither thought they would see the other again after they parted two years ago.
This next book in the accidentally married series is just as funny, steamy and full of the eccentricities of Belle Musique as the previous books. Magenta, who we have met in Mason’s story, finds her hubby Davis. These two have been married for over a year (no they did not get drunk married) but they thought they had had the marriage annulled. They are perfect together but Magenta is too full of insecurities to admit that Davis is her perfect match. Davis just tries his hardest to get Magenta to change her mind. We get to revisit with Vivi, Trish, Maddie and their partners and catch up on all their new additions, it is like visiting family. A great read.
Stroppy tattoo artist fights to maintain her self-reliant mojo; is she sabotaging her happiness?😟 December 13, 2018 3.5 🌟stars Yes, the plot is fine and includes lots of 🔥steamy scenes and some quirky small-town characters, but I never really liked or sympathized with the tattoo artist heroine. She is so stuck in her own insecurity that she has major trouble letting her hunky firefighter hero in on her feelings. She pouts, complains and stomps off way too often for my taste. The hero, on the other hand, is constantly tiptoeing around her, afraid what she will do if he says the wrong thing.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Davis and Magenta are the perfect characters for this book. The story is well written and the storyline itself is good. They met almost a year and a half ago in Vegas and ended up getting married, signed the papers for an annulment and haven't seen each other since. That is until Davis shows. up on the doorstep of Magenta's brothers house renting an extra room that is available. Magenta is not too happy but it's not just because of Davis, she has some other issues she needs to deal with. When someone comes knocking on the door letting them know that their annulment was never filed and they are still married, what will they do?? Enjoy...
Enjoyed the characters and looked forward to reading the others in this series. But because of poor editing, I doubt I will. Examples: Magenta "one" previous tattoo competitions. Davis called her Magenta Sullivan-Crawford, but Magenta's maiden name was O'Malley. And MANY more! I also felt as though her and Mason's back story wasn't explained enough. What was revealed did not seem to be traumatic enough to warrant the resentment Magenta had. So, while I liked the idea of this story, and the many zany side characters, it was not developed well enough nor edited fully enough for me to recommend. And I won't bother with the rest of the series.
Great read. Waking up married and then 17 months later your ex husband walked in the house you live in to rent a room from your brother. The sexual tension and attraction between Magenta and David is so hot it could burn up the sheets which is often. They find out they are still married their papers never filed. Will they stay together or will Mags run like she always does.Mags has lots of issues but most of all she loves Davis and doesn't want to hurt him or be a burden. Davis is a hot sexy, firefighter and who would want to leave him? Love this authors books.
In fairness, I stopped reading at the 65% point. Our H and h have unknowingly, been married for a year. Now, they are reunited, living in the same house. He loves her, she loves him. Sex between them is great. And yet... I don’t know. There is some deep, dark reason our h just can’t commit. Even more distressing? I have read to the 65% point, yet don’t care enough about this imagined problem, to continue reading. There is nothing at all keeping me invested in this story. Nothing at all to hold my interest. Get together, or don’t. By this point, I really should care. But I don’t. For me, this is not a book I would recommend.
Davis has finally decided to make a more permanent move and do something more meaningful than being a smokejumper. When an opening for a firefighter in a small town became available he went for it. What he didn't expect was to see Magenta the woman he met and married in Las Vegas to be there. They find themselves in close quarters since they are sharing a house with her brother. When he finds out that they are still married, he decides to make a play for his wife and win her over. Will the second time around be the charm for them to have a happily ever after? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
This was a really funny and fun read i really enjoyed. Its about Magenta a tattoo artist and Davis a firefighter and a town of meddling busy bodies that will stop at nothing to see couples get their happily ever afters. Magenta is upset with her brother when she finds out that he has rented out a room in the house without talking to her about it first. And to make matters even more complicated the man renting out the room is the only man she has ever felt something for....
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.
This is the 4th book in this series. The plot was good but it was hard to enjoy a story when you don't like the heroine. Magenta was horrible to her brother and read into to his actions. She was mad at him for her imagined slight. She was so wishy washy that Davis was scared she was going to leave threw their entire relationship. She acted more like a teenager than a grown a** woman. You actually felt sorry for Davis for wanting to be with her. Frustrating read.
Accidentally Wifed: An Accidental Marriage Romance Author: Piper Sullivan Reviewer: Rainey Day Book Reviews - Lorraine Leatham 💓💓💓💓💓
Magenta is most definitely not in the market for a boyfriend. Nothing serious. Nothing Permanent. She doesn't need anyone.
Davis is trouble with a capital T... hot and oh so sexy. Not to mention a firefighter. He was also her husband and now her roommate.
The small town they live in has every intention of keeping these two married. Be prepared for laughs, sexy hot scenes and a HEA. This book didn't disappoint.
Another couple gets the Belle Musique magical treatment. Magenta and Davis reunite after almost two years apart and surprisingly find out that the marriage they thought they had dissolved is still intact. Not only is the marriage intact but so are their feelings for each other. With the help and shenanigans of the Belle Musique Biddies and community, they find themselves unable to get a divorce and having to acknowledge that being married to each other is a wonderful idea.
Magenta and Davis are unexpectedly reunited 17 months on after a quickie wedding in Vegas. Thinking they were divorced and found they weren't after a technicality. The irrepressible Aunt Mae and her fellow old ladies in Belle Musique work their magic again thwarting any attempts Magenta has in trying to get away. Some wonderful comic moments as Davis tries to convince Magenta to stay married. Read an ARC for an honest review.
This would have been a fun read but Magenta was so hostile, angry and violent it took any comedy out of the book. Someone that is that volatile should really be in therapy. The saying "Hold on Tiger" while the woman was going after a man's throat is downright scary. This is a romance book not a thriller.
Every page was loud angry words. Can't remember the last time reading a book gave me a headache.
I truly liked the storyline for Magenta, the tattoo artist and Davis, the fireman who met in Vegas and unbeknownst to the two of them, still share a special connection. I adored Davis but found Mags to be a bit too much to love with her tough girl attitude. What began as a lapse in judgment, sizzles and burns into a raging fire. The romance and sexual chemistry was a 4 but editing brought it down to a 3.
In one chapter, Davis is talking about his Mom’s new husband taking her around the world, but when his mom comes to visit, he has no clue who the guy is and doesn’t want to think about her dating anyone.
Is the protagonist’s last name O’Malley or Sullivan?
This wasn’t a long book. How could an author forget her own basic plot details?
This book had some editing issues. I hate paying for books with your/you’re and to/too issues. Pay for an editor.
A well written story with nice storyline and plot. Likeable characters. It is written in dual POV which gives the reader more of the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. I would have liked the characters to develop more and the drama not to be so prolonged. It took some of the suspence out of the story. It is a fun and sweet read and I enjoyed it most of the time. Recommendable and entertaining, mostly.
When will they learn that "what happens in Vegas" doesn't always stay in Vegas?!? Magenta finds this out when her "husband" shows up after a year. Davis wants a chance. Will Magenta let go of her insecurities and give him a chance? I really like this "series".
*I received an Advance Reader's Copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing*
3 1/2* Davis has just transferred to the new fire department. Magenta is furious with her brother for getting her a roommate without her knowledge. The two have met before, the sparks are going to fly but in a good or bad way?? I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Quick read
Great Book! Magenta is quirky, kind, talented, and full of insecurity. Davis is smart, talented, buff and thinking about settling down. Together they make an awesome couple that is spontaneous, fun and sexy as heck. Piper Sullivan delivers a great storyline full of amazing characters that is sure to keep you engaged. This is one book you won't want to miss.
