This featured the World War Hulk tie in issues, which to me were the highlight of the volume. I'd have went four stars based on those issues, but the issues that followed were a Secret Invasion tie in of sorts called Sacred Invasion, and I didn't care for those issues as much.

Overall a good, but not great, collection.

A tale with three major arcs. The last arc (Secret Invasion tie in) absolutely carries the other two into the top echalons. That is not to say the other arcs are meaningless. These provide the spring board and ground work for Cho, Herc and Athena to form a fantastic crescendo. Now for Vol. 2 which cannot arrive soon enough!

There are some good ideas here, especially with Herc and the God Squad fighting the deities of cultures all over the galaxy, but it was just too messy and confusing. There’s a lot of mythos-mixing that didn’t sound or feel right, and the final battle failed to live up to its built-up grandiosity. Some of the World War Hulk related stuff was good, some of the other stories were bad. The art was consistent and good for the most part, though things became muddled often. Overall, I’d only recommend the whole collection if you’re a big Herc fan.

I liked the earlier stories a lot more than later stories.

I dont think I'd buy this as an omnibus. I'm not drawn to read this material again. I'm glad it was popular enough at the time to get forty odd issues.

The God squad arc wasnt really for me but an interesting way to tie in to secret invasion.
The more I read Amadeus the more I dislike him.
On the run from shield in the start.

Its a great fun story about the olympion god trying to learn to act like a god again.

I only give it 3 stars because the first half of the book is mainly about the hulk and herc slowly taking the spotlight in it.
But it is still worth a read.

I really mis this kind of stories

I'm diving into The Incredible Hercules Complete Collection by Greg Pak which was a run I always wanted to read but had a tremendously difficult time getting my hands on. I'm about halfway through the first Complete Collection book, and the first thought that struck me is, it's been a long time since I read traditional superhero comics from Marvel. Woah. On one hand they're tremendously easy to read, on the other hand, there's not much substance or depth besides what you see on the page, in this one at least. Second, man this book in particular is tremendously integrated into the wide events - particularly, World War Hulk, and The Dark Avengers, thus far. Third, I really like the dynamic between Amadeus Cho and Herc, the smart/dumb guy dynamic is so fun. As a book, I'm enjoying it, it's fun turn off your brain type affair, not sure how much I'll go past the first Complete Collection book that I have though.

I've read almost all of the Incredible Hercules and Amadeus Cho run by Greg Pak that spun out of World War Hulk.

A fun, lighthearted run. Pure superhero comics with moments of emotion when it comes to the relationship between the friends. Have to finish the run with Chaos War. But it was a fine distraction from the more serious reads I've had. Chaos War seems far too serious for it's own good and looks like it takes a different tone than the rest of the series which is disappointing. The series also had the event problem where it get tied into each and every event during the Bendis era, there's a Secret Invasion arc (my least favorite arc of the bunch), there's a dark avengers arc (which isn't too bad since they have history with Ares), and some minor Civil War mentions and linkages.
