The snoring goes on, on and on through the night. They never stop snoring till the first morning light.
Ah, all those dinosaurs look so cute in their pajamas. See them yawn and stretch and brush their teeth. Soon they’ll be sound asleep, and . . . OH NO! SNORING!!!
Little kids love big dinosaurs. They also love the sublime silliness of Sandra Boynton books. So what better way to wind down at the end of the day than with DINOSNORES, a rhyming and rhythmic ritual of getting ready for bed—featuring a pile of loudly snoozing dinos.
Sandra Keith Boynton is an American humorist, songwriter, director, music producer, children's author, and illustrator. Boynton has written and illustrated over eighty-five books for children and seven general audience books, as well as over four thousand greeting cards, and seven music albums. She has also designed calendars, wallpaper, bedding, stationery, paper goods, clothing, jewelry, and plush toys for various companies.
This wonderful little board book is great to read aloud with toddlers! Told in rhyme, it tells the story of a group of dinosaurs getting ready for bed and going to sleep. It's a cute story with colorful illustrations.
"Dinosnores" is the latest book by beloved writer of bedtime books, Sandra Boynton! We love her books in my house. My four year olds love the word and we especially liked imitating all of the snoring the dinosaurs do throughout the book. Bedtime is often a good time for us to have one last giggle before we slip off to dreamland and this book definitely is a good fit for that! This short book is a welcome addition to our kiddos' library.
As always, Ms. Boynton's illustrations are fantastic! They are super bright and super cute! My girls are dino obsessed right now and they loved the pictures of the very noisy but still downright cuddly dinos as they snored on through the night. The words are simple and fun and my girls loved repeating the story to me. This was a great book that I know we are going to be revisiting a lot!
What a fun read! The dinosaurs are fun to look at (my favourite is the grey one) and it’s a great transition into sleepy sleepy bye. My only complaint is that another page of honk shmooos would have been greatly appreciated.
Jack borrowed this book from the Ashland Public Library.
I picked it because he tends to love Sandra Boynton books. Even though he was a bit grumpy when I read it, not long before nap, he still listened to the whole thing. I didn’t realize it was all narrated by a rabbit, which adds an interesting element to it.
Best story ever. I was in a small indie bookstore yesterday and a child brought me this book to read. Mind you, I live in a small rural community but this child was with some tourists. I read this book, with full on sound effects, and we laughed and laughed. It was magical!
-1 star because that bunny comes out of NOWHERE. Was he there all along?? Is he our omniscient narrator? I have questions.
The dinosaurs go through the whole bedtime routine: brush their teeth, put on their comfy pajamas, go to bed, and sleep through the night. Would that my baby learn from these dinos.
DINOSNORES is another absolutely charming and delightfully ridiculous board book from Sandra Boynton. Here, the dinosaurs get ready for bed, fall asleep in a heap, and then snore very loudly. The book concludes with a rabbit saying s/he is so glad the dinosnores live far, far away.
What I loved: Every bit of this book is charming from the cartoonish and brightly colored animals to the artistic and large text. The text-to-image ratio is perfect, and the font is large and clear, making this so easy to read aloud. The board book pages make this easy to turn pages for young fingers. The colors, characters, and possibility to really get into the sounds of snoring have high appeal for infants and toddlers, who will easily fall in love with these dinosnores. I also really love that the dinosaurs brush their teeth and wash their faces when getting ready for bed, as it is always great to have healthy habits modeled for the little ones. Be prepared to snore and giggle through this new classic.
Final verdict: Absolutely delightful from images to text to story, DINOSNORES is a new favorite for our toddler. Highly recommend for children who love to laugh and parents who can get into reading some snores!
Please note that I received a review copy. All opinions are my own.
I chose this for the noise at the end of the book, too cute! Doubtful that I read her as a kid, however her books are entertaining no matter your age.
My alma mater Neumann University is doing a virtual in-service day this year. Giving Alumni, parents and students a chance to give back differently. I chose Cradle to Crayons and created a book pack for 3 to 4 year old's as part of my project. The project isn't due until home coming weekend, which is a few days before my birthday. However, I figured early was better. I chose books that I may or may not have read. But I read them all before donation.
My 1 year old absolutely LOVES this book. We've been reading it to her for months and it has become one of her favorite books. We read it together nearly every night. It's a fun nighttime book without being too disruptive while she's trying to settle down for sleep.
My 17 month old loves the 'HONK SHOOO' page as he thinks that's hilarious; he gets excited when he sees it comes up. In general though, he really likes the story and this is the one he's bringing me the most to read right now.
I adore Sandra Boynton. Her stories are funny, the drawings are charming and adorable, and I always know when I pick up one of her books, both my kids and I are going to enjoy it. The loud snoring sounds and watching my kids giggle as they pretend to snore too is just the cherry on top.
It's fun to follow dinos through their bedtime routine, then pivot to * Dreaming *, then pivot to Honk SHOOOOO. I like that page the most. It's clear the letters blend together to form a sound, so I think that's a good learning. And there's a nice bunny surprise on the last pages. Worth a re-read.
We read this just before nap time. This book is amazing! We had so much fun with the Dinos. The story was well written, fun, and all the rhyming the girls loved. The illustrations were well done as well.
5.20.25 - Went to add this to our bookshelves after reading it a couple nights ago, only to find out it was on our read list from 5 years ago when H was 2. Now she's 7 and had a blast reading it to her 2 year old sister E.
