Golden Rules: Wit and Wisdom of The Golden Girls

Rate this book
What better way to thank someone for being a friend than to share this fabulous book with them? It's packed with the inimitable wit and wisom of everyone's favorite ladies--Blanche, Dorothy, Rose, and Sophia!

They've lived a lot of life, and the Golden Girls are here to provide some pearls of wisdom (with more than a bit of sarcasm and some naiveté). From "Sticks and stones can break your bones. But cement pays homage to tradition," to "Isn't it amazing how I can feel so bad, and still look so good?" to "As they say in St. 'Helderbargenflergenflurfennerfen!'," America's four favorite housemates-Betty White, Bea Arthur, Estelle Getty, and Rue McClanahan-share their hard-earned life lessons.

Francesco Sedita was born on March 18 on Mott Street in the Little Italy section of New York, New York, to two native New Yorkers.

Sedita studied writing at the Gallatin School of New York University. "It's this incredible multi-disciplinary program that allowed me to study many aspects of writing, including screenwriting, fiction, and theatrical writing," he says. While at Gallatin, he was a Writing Fellow for Saturday Night Live. After graduating, he wrote and directed a show that ran Off-Off Broadway for 5 years. He is now the Creative Director at major children's book publisher. Miss Popularity is his first book.

Francesco has been writing since the second grade. "I wrote and illustrated a story about a dog named Blackie. My next-door neighbor read it, and when she told me how much she liked it, I realized right then that I wanted to be a writer. I love to tell people stories," he says. When he was in college, he focused on writing comedy, and even did stand-up for a time. In graduate school, he focused on writing literary fiction. "Miss Popularity seemed like a strange direction for me at first, but it was an editorial director at Scholastic who made me realize it was the book I was born to write!" says Francesco. "We were discussing the idea of a character who comes to a musty old school and totally transforms it with her personality and fashion sense, and we both had a really good laugh. And then a day or two later, I was walking down the street and the entire story came to me in a flash-I emailed my editor right away, and Cassie Knight was born!"

Francesco Sedita lives in Brooklyn, New York.

I never watched The Golden Girls, but I have a rough idea of the four character types portrayed in the show. This is a cute little book that you can read in a few minutes.

I can't believe that Penguin Workshop and ABC have the gall to charge $12.99 for this super-slim, super-quick read.

I loved the book, but I feel like these quotes have been used over and over and over again in previous books and merchandise. The book is rather small, kinda a palm sized book. The artwork seems to repeat throughout the book again.

Three stars because the Girls are the best, but it's mostly just illustrated pictures from the show and quotes which are frequently used in other books and all over the internet. Nothing original here.

This is cute, but it is missing a LOT of my favorite iconic lines. Ordered to gift to a friend, wouldn't be one I would keep in my personal collection.

Like where is my favorite? Rose: "Where are you going?" Dorothy: "To get ice cream or commit a felony. I'll decide in the car."

or “If the ancient Egyptians could move 20-ton stone blocks to build the pyramids, we can move a toilet.” —Rose

Perhaps they'll write a second volume, as there are enough to fill several that aren't included here. Deinitely not for your diehard fans.

I saw this book at my library and knew I had to get it out! I read it when I got home. I absolutely LOVE everything Golden Girls! The three of them were perfect together and the comedic lines were so funny! This book had some of the funny lines from the show. I wish it had some of the other funny jokes that I remember. The drawings and pictures of the ladies in the book were a great mix and the drawings were very good. It was a nice short book of a show and ladies that I adore.

Very short, small 6x6 book showcasing some of the GG best and most popular lines. The sketches and drawings inside are what you see on the cover. A great gift for #1 fans of GG, a good gag gift, or a great way to say "thank you for being a friend".

Some of the best quotes from the show. A fun, delightful and entertaining read! I find that the chosen quotes really bring out each character's personalities. A nice addition to any Golden Girls book/memorabilia collection! I do recommend this book to all Golden Girls fans!

Quick and to the point with some hilarious lines. Maybe could have been longer and they didn't necessarily pick the best lines from this classic sitcom. Fun quick read though.
