Fascinating. Absolutely fascinating. A good approach to a non-evolutionist point of view.

It's 2024 so a 1985 book has missed 39 years of further developments in the topics it covers, however it provides a good framework for thinking about the current arguments that we are creatures of a Simulator and that we inhabit a Simulation. So worth a look at least, although it seems to be difficult to find in any of the usual suspects for used books.

There were some beautiful metaphysical notions expressed in this book, but the outdated molecular biology, oversimplified mathematical logic, and challenges to Darwinism negated a bit of the logical conclusions that God exists. It was worth a read for exploring philosophical relationships to science, but I would recommend reading more updated metaphysical and philosophical texts.

I've been looking for scientific responses to the THEORY (yes, theory) of evolution. I want sources that are not linked to Christian belief. On Google searches, I come up with NOTHING. But in printed material, I came across this 1985 book written by a science writer and based on mathematics, biology and physics. Just 180 pages of short chapters, the author shows that "matter is not a thing, but it is a STATE OF ORGANIZATION" (p.9) driven by information, not by random chance. I recommend it. One of my pet peeves, though -- it does not have an index.

A rather compelling argument for Intelligent Design. Too bad it's wrong. (It is worth pointing out, however, that Foster's notion of Intelligent Design is nothing like Creationism and should not be confused with it.)
