Marion Kummerow was born and raised in Germany, before she set out to "discover the world" and lived in various countries. In 1999 she returned to Germany and settled down in Munich where she's now living with her family.
After dipping her toes with non-fiction books, she finally tackled the project dear to her heart. UNRELENTING is the story about her grandparents, who belonged to the German resistance and fought against the Nazi regime.
It's a book about resilience, love and the courage to stand up and do the right thing.
This is one of the best series of books I have ever read. And knowing it's a true story makes it even more interesting. You will love Q and Hilde. You may not like that they embraced communism, but their aim to rid Germany of Hitler and his atrocities are cheer worthy. They led an exceptional life. I generally will get sad when reading a book that doesn't end how you expect, but I could barely read for the tears in book three. Kummerow delved deeply into the history of her grandparents and of the third Reich to bring a heartfelt but sometimes hard-to-read account of their lives. Do yourself a favor and read these books.
It is easy to forget the realities of war. Ms. Kummerow, in this book about the realities of WWII, reminds us of the atrocities in the lives of people who suffered through those years. May we never forget or become complacent but remember the price so many paid for freedom! Thank you for the reminder though it was an emotional experience to travel the journey with Q and Hilde.

Q and Hilde had the perfect marriage. They were deeply in love and nothing, especially Hitlers ego and the wars that came because of him could ruin their relationship. They were tested in the way that no man would ever want for his family. This is a must read and it is one of the books that I will never forget. This book is based off of real people and real events.
After I started reading these books, I did not want them to end. I felt like I knew Hilde and Q. I am amazed at how difficult it was to live in those years of the Nazi regime, to be persecuted for having an opinion. I feel like I learned more history. Reading Marion Kummerow’s books makes me want to read more of them.
This book was a great read. I pleasantly surprised that the books was based on letters grandparents and family stories. It is always good to know that there people who are willing to stand by their convictions. I truly enjoyed reading about love for each other.
If I could have given this trilogy a higher rating it would have been a 10. I enjoyed each book equally. I couldn’t put it down. I both laughed and cried. Brilliant read
Character development was on fine display. The reader becomes Hilde, with thoughts that are written so well. The reader also becomes Q. Looking forward to reading the bonus chapter. I greatly appreciate your talent.
I enjoyed reading about resistance in Germany since I didn't really know it existed during WW II, the historical information was great and it was about real people...
