***3,25 "Hmmm..." stars***

Finally, i found a way to write my reviews!!!!
Unfortunately, I had written my review before some days and just before the final push button, my laptop broke down and i lost everything.... All my review, all my quotes, my title.... Everything!!!
And now, after so many days, i will try to write some things, but honestly, i don't remember much!!!!
But i will give it a try!!!!

Well... The facts about the second book in this series are....
1. This book wasn't from Jensen's POV, but from Rhett's
2... damn!!!! I had written at least four facts, but i don't remember the rest of them!!!! Bahahaha...

Pffff.... The story continued exactly from where it left us in the first book...
I was expecting Rhett's POV to be more exciting, but unfortunately, it wasn't....
Rhett learned some things that Jen was keeping from him, and in the beginning, he was shocked and hurt, but he forgot it too easily!!!! Yep, he was thinking mostly with the wrong head!!!! Go figure....

Unfortunately, something is feeling off with those two... Not much chemistry is involved!!!
Yep, the secrets are many, but they are not given by the author in a more convincing way...
But still... I'm curious of what will happen next and what will happen when the big secret will come to light!!!!

Before i close my review, i would like to say that there aren't many people in here that i can feel sympathy for...
Jensen is okay... In here, she was coming closer to Rhett and she was acting almost normal....
Rhett is too trusting, i think!!!! With everyone... Like he has no backbone...
Rhett's brother is an asshat!!!! God, is he serious??? And with no good reason!!!! If he had a good excuse of what he was doing, i won't be having any problem, but now.... Hmmmm.... I'm rightfully judging him!!!!
Rhett's father was an a$$ himself, especially toward women, but he was caring about his children... I will give him that!!!!
As for Diane???? God, this woman is such a bitch in every aspect... I can't wait to see how she will take the news at the end....

As you can see, i had my issues with this story, but still... I'm way too curious about how this story will end up... And how Rhett and Jensen will manage to overcome all these obstacles that are standing in their way....
I can't wait for the secrets to unfold....

Oh holy s***!!!! Book 2 was wayyyyyyy better than Book 1!!!! I loved Rhett’s POV but damn how dramatic and angsty!!!! I don’t even know what to think or say; I’m literally counting down the days to the conclusion because it will be extremely interesting to see how everything unfolds and resolves.

I did love how Rhett and Jensen relationship developed and grew stronger but with this ending I’m hoping he’s still going to continue defending her and when another bombshell is exploded also I’ll like to know how he will react.

I need tough girl Jensen to be back in the conclusion; in this book you saw a softer side to her which I liked but with certain people I saw her weak and I really want her tough.

Rhett family is beyond dysfunctional and that’s another issue I can’t wait to see resolved. With all these angsty issues that need to be addressed in the conclusion I feel like I’m going to need popcorn and several bottle of wines to read it.

First of all, His Wasted Heart is part of a series and cannot be read as a standalone. You will be confused and will miss out on the foundation of when and why Jensen and Rhett started.

In my Her Defiant Heart review, I said that I wanted to know more about Jensen. To find out the real Jensen and not just the calculated Jensen that she had become in order to get revenge. Well, Murphy delivered. We start to see the real person behind that facade. She's caring, scared and has a past that makes her vulnerable and it only drove me to like her more.

In His Wasted Heart, Jensen and Rhett's feelings are starting to get deeper but she still has her secrets and now so does he. We learn that Rhett's family is crazy and come with their own set of drama, which will on add fuel to the fire once everyone's secrets are out.

I still maintain just how sweet Rhett is. There are some things he does that I think people might try to label him as a bit of a jerk but I disagree. I think he expects a lot but gives a lot in return. Once again, we are left with a cliffhanger and this one was a monster. I'm dying to get my hands on Damaged Hearts so secrets will be revealed and I can hopefully get the HEA that I'm dying for.

If you want a sweet revenge to lovers story that will keep you engaged with a hero that will sweep you off your feet then you need to start this series ASAP.

His Wasted Heart (Damaged Hearts #2) by Monica Murphy
3.5 stars!!!

“Maybe it’s because I don’t want to give up on you.”
“Everyone else does.”

Damn, Monica Murphy, what a tangled web we are weaving. For a second book this was fast-paced, action-packed and full of drama, of the best kind. We always thought that Jensen was the only one with secrets, yet it seems that Rhett’s family are just as bad and the more this progressed, the more secrets are exposed. Monica Murphy ends this book on a doozy, leaving the reader salivating for more.

“You think the world is normal? You’re wrong. It’s not. We’re all out there fucking around, doing forbidden things, excited that we might get caught. Even more excited when we don’t. The thrill of doing something you’re not supposed to is intoxicating stuff…”

With book two of a trilogy, you find the author eithers nails it or fails miserably, and I am pleased to say that Monica Murphy definitely hit the former. This book is packed with back story, giving me the character connection that I craved in the first book. I loved that this book was told from Rhett’s point of view and this really gives the reader that extra narrative and answers a lot of questions. Was Jensen a game to him? Are his feelings genuine? I was worried that perhaps this was just a bit of fun for Rhett, but alas, no, Rhett is in this for the long haul.

“I don’t go for skanks who work at strip clubs,” I sneer. The moment the words leave me, I feel like shit. Because I actually do go for skanks who work at strip clubs. I just didn’t realize it until tonight.”

Rhett’s family is one of the most dysfunctional, and it only gets worse in this book. With an older brother and younger sister, Rhett is the doomed middle child, but out of all of them, seems the most put together. Yes, he is jaded, but he doesn’t let it define him. He knows he has been lucky when it comes to financial support, but the support he has been lacking the most is emotional and that is why he and Jensen are just so good together.

“One minute all I want is to feel your skin pressed against mine and the next I want to punch you in your perfect face.”

I hate to think what Monica Murphy has in store for us with Damaged Hearts, but with this soap opera style trilogy I am seriously worried. It seems nothing is off-limits. I am worried for the longevity of Rhett and Jensen, they are chalk and cheese and when Jensen’s secret finally comes out are we talking atomic bomb kinda consequences? However, I am hoping that these two can find a way to stay together, because they really do bring out the best in one and other and each deserve a slice of happiness for once in their, so far, miserable lives.

I do feel that these books could have been released as one lengthy one, I am unsure of the page count but I read this in a little over an hour, like the first. When you have a story this fast paced, I personally feel it would create more of an impact, if you read it hit after hit after hit. Anyhow, bring on book 3.

Beware of Spoilers!

Star Ratings:
Heroine (Jen): 21yrs old
Hero (Rhett): 21yrs old?
Plot: 2/5
Grovel: none
Cheating: none (between the h and H anyway)
HEA: Cliffhanger
Triggers: none

Average score: 2/5

Best Line: “If we keep seeing each other, I’ll end up hurting you in the end.”

Worst Line: “So my dad is worth a lot of money. So what? I’ve never let that define me”

Personal Review:
Points off for the stuff between Park and Diane and Rhett not doing anything about it

Random Ramblings:
•It’s nice to hear it from his side
•I get his anger but he didn’t need to be mean about it
•I am enjoying how the tables have turned…the woman being the one who leaves after sex rather than the guy like in other romances
•Give me the revenge stuff!!

•Whoa…did not see that disgusting behaviour coming
•And WHY didn’t he tell his dad???????

•Park needs to grow the eff up…he is actually making me feel physically sick
•And I don’t understand why Park would out her considering his own huge secret
•Rhett was a whiney coward
•And of course that was going to happen…his family contains a lot of sleazy douchebag genes
•Where did my strong heroine go?

Overall Feeling:

“I’m tempted to tell Dad about Diane and Park’s affair, but what good will that do? And it’s like Park knows I’ll keep my mouth shut, while he can say whatever the hell he wants. It’s so goddamn unfair.”

~ 5 Stars ~

I can’t tell you how anxious I was to get my grubby little hands on His Wasted Heart once I finished Book 1, Her Defiant Heart, and it didn’t disappoint at all.

His Wasted Heart was just a great as Book 1. I devoured this book!!! I couldn’t get enough of these characters and their journey together.

As with Book 1, I can’t really talk about the storyline much at all. You need to read this book to find out the answers that Book 1 raised. What I can say is that this book picks up right where Her Defiant Heart ends. There is no time loss at all. His Wasted Heart is told solely from Rhett’s POV. I will say I liked being in his head and knowing what he was thinking and feeling throughout this story.

I will also warn you….this book does also end with a CLIFFHANGER. It’s not a nail biter, but it is revealing ;) I actually saw it coming!! So if cliffhangers aren’t your cup of tea, then I would wait until May 24th then the 3rd and final book is released.

In this book we learn more about Jensen and she starts to open up to Rhett more. We also learn more about Rhett and his mixed up family. There were things revealed that blew mind!!! This story was just as captivating as book 1 and will keep you turning the pages until the very end….Then you’ll be yelling I WANT MORE!!!!

His Wasted Heart is the second book in Monica’s trilogy. It is NOT a standalone novel, you do NEED to read Her Defiant Heart first!!! Otherwise this story will not make sense to you.

I would definitely recommend this trilogy to all Monica Murphy fans out there. Also if you are a fan of New Adult romance novels this is a trilogy you won’t want to miss!!!

I liked that this one started off where the last one ended, especially as it ended on a bit of a cliff hanger. Rhett learning that Jensen is a topless server at a strip joint. I have to say things went about how I thought when Rhett first discovers things, then got better. I liked that Rhett, after his first blow up, wanted to talk to Jensen and work things out. I do worry because Jensen is holding back one big secret that will probably blow things up, or...maybe not with what we learned about Diane in this book. Rhett's family situation is a hot mess. I look forward to what Parker is up to being exposed, he was a huge ass for most of the book, but especially at the end when he outed Jensen's job to Diane. Then there is the whole Greg/Craig thing. So much drama to come!

I am totally hooked on this story. I will say that I totally thought I had a handle on what was going on after Book 1, but I was wrong. This story totally kept me guessing. I love Jensen and Rhett together. I am enjoying the unpredictability that is Jensen. Hearing Rhett's POV was a surprise, I hadn't expected that.
Angsty, college drama are the types of stories that I could read all day long. Add in some REALLY dysfunctional family members and it's a recipe for a MUST READ for me. I am just over here dying for Book 3.

It took me forever to feel anything for either one and their being together seems 90% about sex with an attractive girl than feels of personal growth. Rhett knows she lies to him and for being a nice guy he truly tries to want her to have a different life but his life just starts to spiral as well.

I take a star off any review for being a cliffhanger. If I'm reviewing "a book" it's a complete book.
I'm feeling out of sorts about these characters and waiting another couple of weeks is nuts. if you know me, I'll have read another 25 books in meantime. The urge to care for these lying, manipulative, cheating people is slim to none to read the conclusion. I'm thinking this serial stuff backfired.

🖋️ SNEAK PEEK REVIEW 🖋️
This time spoken from Rhett's POV (I enjoy me a guy's perspective) this story continues to intrigue me. The chemistry between Jensen and Rhett are undeniable; Jensen has been opening up more, feelings are spoken aloud; however, secrets are still a brewing. When all is said and done and out in the open will their strong connection to one another keep them together? Then we are thrown that cliffy that will have you itching for the next book stat!

Full blog post here!

Unfortunately this book let me down a bit. If you read my review of the first book then you know I liked how the story began and was pretty excited to see where the story would go and I liked where the story took us on this second book but I had issues with the characters yet again.

When I read Her Defiant Heart I liked Rhett more than I liked Jen. In this book however, I wasn’t a fan of Rhett. I liked him better when I wasn’t reading from his point of view. Now that I’ve had a peek inside his mind and discovered that he is not really a sweetheart like I thought he was I don’t love him as much as I did when I started this journey. In the first book I thought he had strong feelings (love) for Jen but in this book I couldn’t feel his love towards her, everything felt way more sexual instead of sweet and romantic.

I also didn’t enjoy the dynamic between Jen and Rhett. They went from cold to hot in seconds and I felt like instead of communicating they “solved” all their problems in bed. Definitely felt like they lost a bit of their maturity somewhere between the end of the first book and this second one.

Overall, this was an okay read for me. Didn’t absolutely hated it but I didn’t love it either. I’m still excited to see where the story ends up since this one ended on a bit of a cliffhanger and the next book sounds more exciting than the first two combined.

***This means nothing.
Those three words rattle through my brain on repeat. Jensen’s right. It means nothing. It should mean nothing.
So why does being with her feel like it has the potential to mean everything?

***Am I crazy? Probably. One minute I can’t trust her, the next I want her to be my official girlfriend. I’m making no sense. But this girl does something to me. The more she pushes me away, the more I want to reel her back in.

Oh, this is getting good! The more time Rhett spends with Jensen, the more he starts to care for her, to try to bring her out of her self loathing and to make her feel that someone actually cares for her. No matter how much she pushes him away, he keeps trying. He really is a sweet guy, not at all what Jensen expected. She judged him by his family and she’s learning that Rhett shouldn’t be defined by his family because he is nothing like them thankfully.

Jensen does love his little sister though, she’s sweet and really seems to like Jensen a lot.

Oh, and let’s not forget a great little twist thrown in the mix as well. Jensen isn’t the only one with secrets! And what a secret it is! Wonder what will happen when it’s all exposed. I literally can’t wait for book three because I know it’s going to be great!

Rhett is sweet, caring and oh so HOT, I really am loving him and I’ve been waiting for Jensen to tell him the entire truth. I just hope he still cares for her when it all comes to light. (Oh, and did I mention there are some pretty steamy scenes? Well, there is and oh my!)

I love a book with good juicy secrets and family drama and this has a lot of it!

His Wasted Heart by Monica Murphy is the second book in her Damaged Hearts series. Her Defiant Heart must be read prior to reading book 2 and continues Rhett and Jenson’s story in Rhett’s point of view. It was angsty and emotional.

Jenson begins to open up to Rhett and we begin to see more of Rhett’s dysfunctional family and his relationship to them. Jensen and Rhett grow closer, even as they struggle and face obstacles. Can they find a way forward together?

Rhett and Jenson have so much chemistry and I loved seeing them together. We begin to understand Jenson so much more and love how accepting Rhett is. But they are not without struggles. Rhett has his own secrets. How will it all end?

His Wasted Hearts ends with another cliffhanger and I cannot wait to get my hands on the final book and see how it all ends. This story was fast paced, and I devoured it!

Yeah I'm speechless. This book is twisted, oh so dirty, but so freaking delicious! Just when I thought Jensen and Rhett's issues would be easily resolved, bomb after bomb was dropped. And I mean nuclear type bombs, the kind no one can come back from...The kind that destroys families and relationships beyond repair. And I feel terrible at how much I enjoyed finding out these secrets even if they made me cringe and how excited I am about book 3, Damaged Hearts. This series truly feels like a soap opera on paper. The drama is insane but it's sooooooo good!

Were they more than friends, less than lovers or just a hot mess? The quest continues. Murphy re-enters the mind and heart of two damaged souls. His Wasted Heart is another piece to an already heartbreaking puzzle. In his own words Rhett seeks the answers to a tragic situation. His pain leaps off the pages like a dagger to the heart. Love is what he seeks, but anger bubbles just below the surface. It's complicated, but no less emotionally impactive.

This second installment does not disappoint. It picks up right where the first book leaves us hanging! Jensen and Rhett get past Jensen’s secret revelation only for Rhett to get a major secret of his own. As things progress they get more complicated. The story has you sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for the next shoe to drop. Book one and two grab and keep your attention. What will the future hold for our lovers?

⭐️ 4.5 "Little Liar" Stars ⭐️
With the way the previous book ended, I was really eager to get my hands on this sequel. His Wasted Heart is once again a fast paced story filled with lies and secrets, but also emotion. One thing I love more than anything about this novel is that it’s written in Rhett’s point of view.

Finally, being able to enter Rhett’s mind was incredible. He clearly cares for Jensen, but knows she’s manipulative and closed off. I enjoyed seeing her opening more and more about herself. It’s clear their relationship is evolving into something meaningful, but both are still reticent with all the deceptions of their beginning.

"It mean nothing. It should mean nothing. So why does being with her feel like it has the potential to mean everything?"

Rhett is the great guy as always, but he also shows a side of him more uninhibited. Jensen really makes him lose is mind, leading to some pretty intense sexy moments. They’re explosive while also gentle and tender with each other.

Once again, this book unravels with lots of jaw dropping revelations that had me astonished. I enjoyed His Wasted Heart so much better than the first book. I really felt this relationship is more emotional. The interactions between Rhett and Jensen showed feelings! I can’t wait for the conclusion to this amazing series in Damaged Hearts!

•••••••••••••

REVIEW: HIS WASTED HEART is the second instalment in Monica Murphy’s contemporary, new adult DAMAGED HEARTS romance trilogy focusing on college students Rhett Montgomery, and Jennifer ‘Jensen’ Fanelli. HIS WASTED HEART should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events and cliff-hanger of book one HER DEFIANT HEART.

Told from first person perspective (Rhett Montgomery) HIS WASTED HEART follows in the wake of Rhett’s discovery of Jensen’s job, and the embarrassing nature of the potential fall-out if anyone were to discover. While Jensen and Rhett’s relationship struggles with the reality of Jensen’s secret life, the Montgomery family dynamics grows more dysfunctional as the story line progresses. What ensues is the up and down, back and forth relationship battle between Jensen and Rhett, and the potential fall-out as Jensen’s past continues to threaten her present and her future.

Jensen’s obsession with, and need to destroy the woman who abandoned her as a child takes a back seat to Rhett’s inability to accept the reality of Jensen’s life. Dark secrets will be revealed, and the ensuing emotional turmoil find our couple at a cross-roads when a past encounter exposes the truth, and a dangerous predator is too close for comfort.

The relationship between Jensen and Rhett continues to be highly sexual; the physical attraction to one another is palpable but the secrets Jensen holds close to her heart are slowly unravelling to reveal a dark and tormented soul. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include Rhett’s dysfunctional family as their own secrets and hatred for one another begin to implode. Jensen is about to be caught in the middle of a Montgomery family catastrophe wherein her own secrets are about to be revealed.

HIS WASTED HEART is a tale of betrayal and mistrust; secrets and lies; challenges, struggles, insecurity and self-esteem. The story line slowly begins to unravel Jensen’s past, the Montgomery secrets, and the possibility that love does truly not conquer all. The premise is edgy and revealing; the characters are broken, strong, and resilient; the romance is emotional and dramatic.

I read this book in one sitting; it was that riveting. I just needed to find out what happens next. The plot was getting more and more complicated and poor Rhett was literally stuck between a rock and a hard place.

The first book ends when Rhett appears at the strip club where Jensen works as a waitress. A squabble ensues where Rhett feels hurt, betrayed and strikes back in an insulting manner. I liked that Jensen makes clear that the fact that she works at a strip club and she waits tables topless doesn't make her a whore, it makes her a student in urgent need for money to pay her studies. It was a lesson to Rhett on how the other side of the coin (understand the poor people) live and make decisions. I loved that Rhett has the open mind to understand and to accept his mistakes. He’s a real man, open to new ideas, open to accept other people as they are. He may initially be clueless but he catches on.

Eventually he and Jensen make up and continue their relation, not without problems. Now Rhett’s family get into the picture and he has to balance his act. He doesn’t want them to know about Jensen’s work, not because he despises it but because he knows it will cause him problems with his family. Anyway, he hates her job because it makes him jealous but knows better than to convince Jensen to resign. The poor guy can’t win the battle.

Once Jensen is brought into the fold of the Montgomery family, we start to see all the dysfunctional interactions between them. Rhett has an older brother and a younger sister. Their mother died when the younger sister was born and soon after, their father brought Diane as his second wife. This is the woman that Jensen believes is her mother. Diane is a major B@tch, snobby, hungry for money, status and power, even though she scorns her husband and publicly berates him. They are mutually unfaithful and yet try to give an appearance of happy family. When Rhett learns something that may rip the family apart, he’s forced to keep silent and the tension of trying to keep Jensen’s working circumstances under the rug, takes all the different turmoils into a major hurricane. And the book ends in a spectacular cliffhanger that makes us crazy for the final installment.

OMG!! What an exciting second instalment to the "Damaged Hearts" series this was. My heart felt like it was beating out of my chest, especially during the final chapter. I have devoured Rhett's book in only a few short hours, only stopping to eat my dinner. "His Wasted Heart" was fast paced, sexy and it gave me a heart-stopping conclusion. I cannot wait to see what happens next for Rhett and Jensen.

"Am I your dirty secret, Rhett? Because you're definitely mine."

I have been waiting to read this book, ever since the cliffhanger ending from book one. As soon as I got my hands on a copy, I abandoned my current read and dived straight into this story. I was desperate to know what was up next for Rhett and Jensen. I couldn't wait to read Rhett's POV, to find out what he truly thought of Jensen. I had a feeling that this gorgeous man was going to steal my heart and I was not disappointed. Reading the story from Rhett's perspective was everything I had hoped. I loved finding out more about Rhett. I did feel a little sorry for him, having now met his dysfunctional family, but I adored how crazy he was for Jensen and how easily he accepted her life and her back story. He really does have it bad for Jensen and I'm so happy that their relationship seemed to be working so far, although I'm pretty sure that in the next book, more of Jensen's secrets will be exposed and I'm praying that Rhett and Jensen will survive because they make such a good couple.

"I can't keep my hands or mouth off her.
She's all I can focus on, all I want to focus on."

So much happened in this story, and by the final few pages I wanted to tell Rhett and Jensen to run away together and never return because I'm so scared for how this series is going to end. I have a feeling that the final book is going to give me heart failure!

"Maybe this girl is too much trouble. Maybe she won't be worth the heartache."

Eep! My goodness I was so freaking excited to FINALLY get my hands on the next installment in the Damaged Hearts series, especially after devouring Her Defiant Heart so quickly last month. OH and don't even get me started on that cliffhanger at the end. I was left speechless for hours after finishing, but NOTHING could have possibly prepared me for the intensity I just experienced in His Wasted Heart. This book was everything I could have ever wanted and so much more!

Since Her Defiant Heart was told solely in Jensen's POV, it only seemed fair that His Wasted Heart would be in Rhett's POV. Based on this I am hoping I am right when I say that the final book, Damaged Hearts, has to be in BOTH of their POV's because this time I am going to need both sides of the story! Jensen and Rhett's chemistry was off the charts in the one and I couldn't get enough of these two. I was certainly disappointed when the story ended because I wasn't read to let them go. At least book three isn't too far away...

Please note that these books need to be read in order to understand, but TRUST ME you are going to love each and every one of them! I cannot wait to get my hands on Damaged Hearts next month! Let the count down begin.

His Wasted Heart

*received an ARC in exchange for an honest review**

4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Damaged Hearts series continues with Rhett’s POV this time. I love that Monica Murphy changed the POVs for this book. You now are seeing Rhett’s perspective and how he feels about all that is happening. He shoes his struggles not only about Jensen but also about his family. Jensen and Rhett will continue to figure out their relationship and what started as revenge is quickly turning into something more real. And their relationship will continue to be tested every step of the way.

Rhett can’t believe that Jensen works at City Limits. When he sees her it changes everything he thinks about her and if she has been lying to him about more than his job. But the one thing he knows is that he is still attracted to her and he still wants her, question is can they make it work?

Jensen keeps trying to push Rhett away but he continues to come back. And she is falling for him even though she knows she shouldn’t. All of her planning is going out the window because, she is no longer focused on revenge. But can it really work out between them?

Will Rhett and Jensen finally be able to be together? Or will her past choices come back and threaten all that she and Rhett have started to build?

Gahhh!!! Why is every single person in Rhett’s family so ridiculously sleazy? Like they’re all the absolute worst! (Except his sister, she’s a sweetheart.)

Ok! Rant over, let’s start this review.

I absolutely loved getting the chance to be in Rhett’s head for this book. Though, I would have loved to be in Jensen’s head the first time she met Diane. I loved getting to see more of Rhett’s thought process as he deals with his family and comes to terms with Jensen’s job. Also, these two have a ridiculously steamy relationship and I am all here for it.

I absolutely devoured this book! I just couldn’t put it down. But, also, I feel like it was a huge tease. While I am super satisfied with how Rhett and Jensen’s relationship is developing, there is still that one big giant secret between them. Also, that bomb Jensen drops on Rhett at the end? I’m not ready to see how he reacts to that one.

I am more than ready for Book 3!!! While I 100% believe this is about to get super messy, before it gets any better, I also 100% trust Monica Murphy and I’m ready for whatever she’s gonna throw my way in Book 3.

4.5 Stars!

Holy wow! Where do I even begin??!!

This story is pure craziness! The good kind of crazy.

Her Defiant Heart is literally unlike anything I have ever read.

Jennifer "Jensen" Fanelli comes from a broken home. Her father is an abusive drunk and her mother left her when she was very little. She and her father live in a broken down trailer and struggle from day to day.

Jen has had a hard time getting over her mother's abandonment and when she finds out that her mother is living a privileged life in a mansion with her new husband and his children, she sets out on a quest for revenge. She doesn't care who gets hurt along the way, so long as she gets the vengeance she so desperately craves.

Her plan? Get close to her mother's step-son Rhett Montgomery and bring her wonderful life crashing down.
The fatal flaw in her wonderful plan? Don't fall in love with Rhett Montgomery, no matter how kind, sweet and perfect he is.

This short romance begins in Her Defiant Heart and continues in His Wasted Heart. I look forward to the conclusion in Damaged Hearts.

This series is one of my favorites from Monica, which says a lot because I've been a longtime fan!

The story immediately continues from where we left it in book one ...

Anger and astonishment hit him like a sledgehammer. Memories of bliss shatter into a thousand tainted pieces.

Shock and suprise upon her face. An unexpected encounter and a half.

The door slowly opens through drama and heated moments, the past coming to light.

Rhett takes us through this book and he doesn't dissapoint.

His personality so different from that of others in his situation. His outlook on life refreshing and unique.

Jenson caged, and frightened like a wild animal. skittish and ready to strike at a moments notice. I love love looove her fire!

I wasn't sure this series could get any better but shows what I know because once again the bar has been raised.

I'm left in awe of this author and her ability to keep you dangling. Temptation and need keep you desperately wanting more and I can't wait for the third part to land.

Please don't make me wait too long! hehe
