Gotta love the McGavins

Forgot that I had already owned book 1 - Zane and Nancy's story. Although raised a cowboy and still working on the family ranch Zane is into the rehabilitation of the wild birds of prey and an occasional bird that been prey. When Mandy returns to Eagle Nest and her Aunt Jo's their love revives as fast as one of Zane's birds. When Mandy announces she wants to return to New York and take Jo with her, Jo says NO! She sells Zane her ranch for his rehabilitation center and buys a condo in town. What's a girl to do?
Book 2 it's Cody's turn. He returns home to check on his mom who was thrown off a horse she trying to train to be a trail rider for the family business. He funds that she has hired a "tomboy" cowgirl named Faith Underwood to help with not only the ranch but also the house. Cody has plans to explore the area around Eagles Nest and their part of Montana. Faith offers to lend Cody her horse so he doesn't have to use one of the ranches horses but she has an ulterior motive that involves a night of sex with Cody. Will night be it? Hmmm
Book 3 is Ryker and April. They were high school sweethearts. She was a pacifist and he was a gung ho join the military. The night before he left to join the Air Force April broke up with him hoping to make him stay in Eagles Nest. All she did was drive him away with a broken heart. Now he's back and owns a Beech craft plane with his co pilot buddy and a job with the local air flight company. His first flight is taking April to her parents in time for her sister to have a baby. Sparks fly not only in the cockpit but also in an engine. Will they survive?

Overall, the author has a good writing style with very few grammar errors, something which, unfortunately, is becoming less common among self-published authors. She does a good job of fleshing out the characters with perhaps a little too much internal dialog for my taste. Each ends with a nice HEA. For the rest of my comments I need to list each of the books separately.

A Cowboy's Strength: Rated separately this book earned 3 stars, primarily because I couldn't stand Mandy. I've read other books where I didn't care for the h, but this was the first one where I wanted to scream at the H to run as fast and as far in the opposite direction as possible. Mandy is self-centered and easily takes offense. When we first meet her, we find out that she's stayed away from Zane, who was her best friend throughout their childhoods, and his family for 10 years because of a fight she had with him. However, the fight is so inconsequential that it's never mentioned again. In addition, she's stayed away from Zane's mom, who was like a second mom to her. No logical reason is given for this. Evidently it's too painful for her to be in her childhood town because her father had walked out on her and her mom. Yet she gets upset when she finds out Zane wants to buy her childhood home. She's insistent that her mom, who's perfectly happy in Eagle's Nest, move with her to NY. Finally she makes the "noble" decision to return to NY by herself and gives up on her romance with Zane because evidently her job is more important than their love. We see her in her apartment in NY doing nothing but having a pity party for herself. No friends are referred to except the one who was going to sublet his 2-bedroom apartment to Mandy and her mom. So it seems to me Mandy wanted her mom to move out to NY to keep her company because her life there was so pathetic. What's more, Mandy isn't the one who comes up with the solution to her dilemma. Zane is. It's an easy solution, which makes Mandy all the more pathetic that she didn't come up with it herself.

A Cowboy's Honor earned 4 stars. Faith is definitely more to my liking than Mandy, but she's so innocent and naive that she's a bit unrelatable. Like Zane, Cody is very likeable. It seemed to me that Faith made a mountain out of a mole hill when it came to the problem which made her decide to end her relationship with Cody. As in the first book, it was a man who came up with the solution to the problem.

A Cowboy's Return: I was almost afraid to read this book because I was afraid the "man always finding the answer to the problem" was going to be a repeated pattern, but I was wrong. I liked this book the best. Even though I didn't agree with April's reason for not wanting to start up a relationship with Ryker again, I respected her as a person. I was moved by the scene at the Labor Day parade conclusion, where Ryker's mom gives her speech. Ryker is an honorable man and also very relatable because of his vulnerabilities. This book earned 5 stars.

1. A COWBOYS STRENGTH - 3 STARS

The h wasn't a character you wanted to be around. She is very selfish until the end. The MC have been best friends since they were toddlers, families were close and helped each other. Then they are apart for over 10 years and when they come together, I didn't feel a connection. I did like the H but couldn't understand why he had feelings for the h as adults. Needed more clarification why the h felt like she did and left.

Loved the secondary characters, especially the mom's and the Whine Club.

Lovemaking outside of marriage - heat level 5 out of 5 and many times.

No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, ended abruptly and you will want more. Thankfully I have 2 more books in this bundle so hopefully I'll be satisfied with their future. Little on romance and plenty of steam. Crude words used twice I believe.

I can't improve on the blurb, just giving you extra tidbits to decide whether to purchase. (ljb)

2. A COWBOY'S HONOE - 5 STARS

I enjoyed this story more than the first one. This had humor and great banter between the MC's. I loved the innocent discussions they had together, especially her being deflowered (her words).

Lovemaking outside of marriage - heat level 5 out of 5 and described many times. Romance builds slowly and I liked their journey to HEA.

Interesting secondary characters too added to this story. No villains, just two people trying to figure out their future.

No cheating, no cliffhanger, plenty of steam, 2 crude words and 1 Lord's name used in vain. This is a standalone story so you won't be lost. I can't improve on the blurb, just giving you extra tidbits to decide whether to purchase or not. (ljb)
3. A COWBOY'S RETURN - 2 STARS
This is a story like in book 1 of second chances. My favorite of this bundle was number 2 which was 5 stars, book 1 was a 3 star review and this one barely 2.

This story is about opposites attract. Yes, many times, it works, but not in this one for me. She is a vegetarian, he isn't. He went to war and she is a pacifist. The ONLY thing they had in common was sex - heat level 5 out of 5 and described many times.

I didn't feel a connection to this couple at all and couldn't understand what the H saw in her.

No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA and no romance. When did our h redeem herself, at the 100% in the story - no joke. One crude word used. This is a standalone story. I can't improve on the blurb, just giving you extra tidbits to decide whether this is for you. (ljb)

Great captivating & heartwarming series
Strength*****"Being loved by Zane." Zane is the type of man that will make you want to relocate, lol. He's hard-working, compassionate, straightforward and not afraid to communicate, not to mention his cowboy sexiness. Mandy is living the New York but she is faking it because her heart yearns for Montana but instead of going back there to live she wants her mother to come to NY hoping to quail her loneliness and homesickness for the community that is close-knit and like family instead of just neighbors. Mandy & Zane have been best friends since they were toddlers. I enjoyed reading how they figure out if as adults they can put aside the child's play and build a much more mature relationship with some hot & heavy adult action going on.
Honor*****Wow, this is the best cowboy romance I have read this year!!! Cody is sexy, cool, calm & collective but Faith rattles that cage with her outlandish proposition. Her antics are hilarious & I think I've read some of the same romance books that she did, lol. This author never fails, I love that the emphasis is on romance and the cowboy life doesn't dominate the story. Can't wait to read the next book in the great series!!!
Return*****Love this, author jump starts this plot without stalling. Both characters are secure in who they have become since their break-up. Ryker is just perfect, he knows what he wants. April is whimsical & not really interested in rekindling an old flame but when fate throws them on a dangerous ride, their connection is so strong that it can't be denied. I laughed & cried, such a great heartfelt love story.

Three Heartfelt Cowboy Romances

1. A Cowboy’s Strength 4*
Wow what a hero, handsome, sexy, loyal, understanding, steadfast and doesn't hold grudges! Is he for real? A friends to lovers book. Would have loved an epilogue.

2. A Cowboy’s Honor 5*
"Are you crazy with lust?" What a lovely story and sooo funny! It would be great to have a Cody in my life, handsome, romantic, tender and caring. In fact the whole McGavin family are great. Again would have loved an epilogue.

3. A Cowboy’s Return 4*
The Airman and the Pacifist. Attraction of opposites and boy are they different but despite the pain of their past, their desire for each other is scorching hot and will not be ignored. This is Ryker and April's story, finally finding love together after eleven years apart.

The reviews above are for the individual books rather than the boxset, which I do not own. I voluntarily read and reviewed advanced copies from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Boxed set of 3: A Cowboy’s Strength: Zane and Mandy loved each other until she left for a career in NYC years ago (wanting out of Montana as a result of Dad’s betrayal of Mom). She is back trying to get her mom to join her in NYC even though she is not all that happy there. Zane might be familiar from other stories in series. He has the Bird Sanctuary. A Cowboy’s Honor: Cody and Faith’s story. He has come home long enough to rent trailer and get horse for a 2 month sojourn in country. He promptly falls for ranch new hire Faith. Does he give up his photography dream? A Cowboy’s Return: Ryker and April’s story. Another where he left her behind. She is a vegan pacifist and he is a military F15 pilot. They are high school loves but she cannot seem to resolve their different world views… until the events at the end of the story. All 3 are engaging stories where you know what they need to work out, but read to find out how they do it.

Great!

I chose this rating because this was a pretty good book. I enjoyed pretty much all of the characters. This was a book of compassion, kindness, protection, having a voice, determination, motivation, inspiration, and also falling in love. I enjoyed Zane and Mandy, Cody and Faith, and Tyler and April story. I think the author did a great job with putting these characters together. Each of the characters had their own individuality and they loved their mother very much. They each found a young lady and they fell in love with. I love the way this family stuck by each other even in their shortcomings. This was a really great book. I recommend this book to all Cowboy lovers and romance readers.

Hot and heartfelt

These books weren't just steamy and smokin' with the love scenes... They were also sincere and sensitive on the life scenes. Love the way all the couples actually talked and communicated. Loved how the men were confident about themselves enough to put their feelings into words. They weren't always eloquent but them boys were always true and respectful. Kindness is very attractive doubly so it seems when a hat salute is added 🤠. This is definitely going to my list of top romances. Thank you so much Vicki for raising these boys - no, MEN, fictional though they be, they're angels 😇.

Good stories

These books seemed to have immature women. And everyone except Faith had slept around. Almost a juvenile mindset? Mandy didn’t realize she had always loved him. Faith fell in love at first site but just knew she would lose him? But the third book’s base story line was stupid to me. Being a military spouse I found the third book, April and her family ridiculous. I hoped Ryker would met another, better understanding woman. It takes special people to be willing to serve their country and sign up to lay down their life for it and their families.

Zane, Cody and Ryker

What a hot band of blues eyed brothers. A fiercely strong mother has raised 5 sons on her own. I love the loving and loyal relationships between these brothers. Each brother has something they are passionate about. Zane runs an eagle sanctuary, Cody wants to document a time of travel and reflection and Tyler his desire to fly fighter jets. I love the close community of friendships and neighbors especially the Ladies of the Whine and cheese club.

They took the blue from the skies and of

Pretty girls eyes and a touch of old glory too. And gave it to the men who proudly wear the US Air Force blue. My dad was in the air force and this was part of the lyrics to one of their songs. He used to sing it to us when we were young and trying to go to sleep. This book will be my favorite. It was very well written and the characters were awesome. I am thoroughly enjoying this series. Thank you Vicki!

A sweet set of stories about three brothers finding true love.

This was my first time reading a book by Vicki Lewis Thompson, but not the last. Each of these books could be a stand alone read but having all three was a bonus!
I am looking forward to reading more! I hope that the oldest member of the family finds a mate to see her through the rest of her life?

If you like..... Cowboys, Stetson and horses?

you like family series with good looking cowboys this is a must read. Each family member has a different story. Cowboys looking for love and an amazing mom that keeps 5 sons in line. Makes one wish that we still had cowboys all around and not just out west! Nothing hotter than a Stetson on a man riding a horse. :)

three good reads

Each of these stories can be read as a stand alone. They are better together as you can get the family connections and they are more meaningful that way. I enjoyed reading each h and everyone of them.

A good writer.

I thoroughly enjoyed all the books in the boxed set
Vicki Lewis Thompson knows how to make her readers care about her characters and keep readers reading until the end.
I must warn you she includes a lot of explicit sex, but she does it well. Enjoy these books.

These cowboys are scrumptious!

These three cowboys have such larger than life characters, filled with warm, tender feelings and the strength and ability to beat any odds! And their women are as good. I laughed and I cried and I’m darn glad there’s HEAs!

This box set contains the first three books of the McGavin brothers series. Each book can be read as a stand alone, but some parts make more sense if you read them in order.

The brothers, are as you'd expect, good looking Don't hold that against them!

All 3 books were great but Cowboys Honor is my favorite!

These are great stories with some steamy scenes but I laughed through the second book. They are all great cowboy romances but the author pulled out all the plugs with the dialogues! Kudos MS Thompson!

Excellent read

Great series of 3 books. As an English woman who loves riding and horses but who has never met a cowboy this was escapism at it's best! I will most certainly look out other books by this author.

McGavin Brothers Boxed Set 1-3

I usually like this authors writing but these books were so corny and dumb. I forced myself to read all the way through but wow was that tough. Obviously you make up your own opinion. I'm just glad they were free.

Second chance love for sexy hot cowboys.

Three of the McGavin brothers unexpectedly find their forever loves in this enjoyable series. For two it’s second chances with special women and for the third it’s a special surprise. Loved all three books. These are hot and sexy, not clean reads. Very enjoyable characters and storylines.

Repear

Not much to say because I already left a review a while ago on a different device. I already read these books. I will say I enjoyed them the first time and that I only read 1 chapter in each book to know that I had already read them. Good reading the first time.
