YOU BETTER WATCH OUT!

It's Christmas eve and Zack who is nineteen years old is missing the best party of the year where all the girls and his friends at on this fun and special night. Zack is laid up in a small hospital due to having surgery on his shattered wrist so he is left all alone until the shift change and a gorgeous night nurse named Samantha will be his nurse until morning. Although Samantha is a few years older that won't stop Zack from flirting and eventually asking her out. (A guy can dream, right?). Unbeknownst to anyone at the hospital a powerfully built man has decided to dress up as Santa Claus (bags and all) in his homemade suit that he sewed himself in an effort to impress and surprise his ex-girlfriend who works at the hospital. The night is quiet with a minimum of staff due to only a few patients required to medically stay on the holiday. From the time this unscheduled visit from Santa arrives at the hospital some workers will never see another Christmas and what will happen to Zack and nurse Samantha? Who is this strange guy who decided to play Santa and will he survive this bloody horror night?

I really enjoyed this really bloody and body Christmas story. There are many different characters throughout the story, some likeable and others, oh, well. This book was short and a lot of fun, not to be taken seriously but it is a real horror story. Not for the squeamish!

I highly recommend and have given a rating of 4 Bloody Christmas 🎄🎄🎄🎄 Stars!!

Jared wants to surprise his ex-girlfriend who works in a the Laymon (ha, ha, what a name with greetings from Richard Laymon) Memorial Hospital. He dresses as Santa Claus. As he's stopped in the entrance hall and asked for any permission papers the situation escalates. He snatches the gun of a watchman and shoots him together with two other members on the staff. Then he sets out for Samantha. Zack, a patient with a broken wrist, witnesses the scene and tries to help Samantha (who's his nurse he fell in love with) by killing Jared with two injections. They don't work. Jared turns into the Santa Beast and from now on his motivation is 'hunt, kill and fuck' (had to smile about the nymphomaniac doctor who get's her share by the Santa Beast). Can Samantha and Jared survive the Santa Beast roaming from floor to floor through the hospital out to get them? Well, this cheesy hack and slay novel had some funny scenes in it but overall it was very gory and far over the top. If you like implausible settings (why didn't the police arrive earlier? for instance) and a share of sleazy scenes this certainly is worth a peak. Funny read for in-between. Nothing too serious and highly political incorrect.

Samantha glared at him, but with no real malice. “True enough,” she said. “Although I’m pretty sure there’s something in the handbook about dating your patients.” “After tonight, I think we can throw the handbook out the window,” Zack said.

I really liked it!

This book is definitely gory! I giggled in a couple few spots of the book too. A crazy man believes that they are meant for each other just after a few dates. So he dresses up like Santa to stalk this girl at the hospital where she works. It is horror in a hospital!

‘Seasonal sleaze and cheese, that just aims to please!’

An amusing, deliberately ridiculous, traditional Christmas horror story that sees a very unusual psycho Santa just lose the plot when visiting his local hospital. Ho, ho, ho, it definitely isn’t - but oh, oh, oh...what fun!

All good, very much welcomed, bloody, gory action, with ‘Die Hard’ undertones, except for one disturbingly chilling brutal and violent attack that felt totally out-of-sync with the fun, terror vibes and positive storyline of the rest of the book. Seemed a bit strange.

Only a few characters were used within the tale which kind of worked, despite the noticeable lack of patients within the hospital itself. Great scenes, highly imaginative and a well worked out plot kept my interested throughout, but, at times, the slightly too cheesy ‘hot’ unrealistic dialogue and the highly convenient ‘happy ever after’ ending for some of the main characters detracted a little from the story’s overall credibility and reading experience for me.

However, a Christmas horror story that deserves to be read. Very entertaining!

Rating: 3.5 snowy-white, but blood-filled stars.

What to say about this book.....sigh.

I am making it a "dreaded dnf".

Thoughts:

The gore carnage was great but the story itself was kind of jumpy to me. The actual story itself was good and there was quite a bit of blood and gore action but when the author started screwing up the names of the characters which happened at least four times within the first half of the book I just gave up.

I have owned this book a long time so maybe this is an early edition with the editing problems and character name mix-ups but still it kept throwing me out of the story as I couldn't figure out who these people were that the author kept tossing out there and they were not characters in the story. Not giving this book any stars as I don't rate books I don't finish.

Oh man, there's nothing like a blood-soaked Christmas horror story! I was rummaging through Kindle looking for holiday merriment and gore and I found this little gem. Although this is territory that has surely been tread before, I really enjoyed taking this familiar slay ride. The story moves along fast, the cast is small, and the setting is contained, all of which I feel work in the story's favor. I love stories where characters are trapped in a location and I really liked what the author did with that motif here. A great deal of the story is told through the characters' inner dialog, which I thought was an interesting choice on the writer's part. It's a really fun read, too, aside from one brutal and harrowing section where the book suddenly gets very serious and disturbing. However, that didn't deter me from finishing the book. I liked this one for a fun and gruesome holiday read! :)

This slasher story really had a story behind it. It may have been a little goofy but it wasn't bad. A little gory but too bad. Romance and action right off the bat. A science type romance.

Oh man, was this a roller coaster of emotions. And it only lasted a couple of hours.

Up until about the 40% mark, I was interested in the story as a stalker horror, but with a cheap Santa suit. Like, a horror where people are the real monsters. And a poor main character stuck working in an empty hospital (that alone feels weird to say this year) on Christmas Eve with a deranged and horny stalker and a horny teenager.

Then I got to where the "Something... Monstrous" part of the story's blurb comes to play. A literal monster. So, now our poor main character is stuck in an empty hospital with a horny monster and a horny teenager. I thought this was supposed to be the start of a satirical story. Which, I sort of still think it is. Just read this:
Ending his Neanderthal-like ritual, the Santa Beast stood in the lab marveling at what he had become. His body was now bursting with raw energy. No longer encumbered by human thoughts and emotions, he felt driven by pure animalistic instincts.
Hunt. Kill. Fuck.

I mean, that's hilarious. I burst out laughing. And then Chapter 21 happened. 55% in.

It's horrific, guys. Like, genuinely horrific. It felt like the author knew I laughed at his writing and wanted to punish me for it. If you are triggered by you should probably skip this chapter and go right back to the plot. This is the worst of it and it becomes much more tame after this. More like you'd typically imagine of a big, scary monster horror, but I liked it. Throwing bodies around, roaring, etc. With a satisfying ending.

Blood and guts galore.

A bloody terror Christmas story.
All of feed up with the typical Christmas stories, then this is the one for you. Has relentless screaming and red stuff running everywhere.
I like the way the author used each characters own tale until they met up together.
Good graphic detail to the horrors inflicted by the monster.
Enjoy, it’s a good bit of fun.
9/10.

I read this book like I was watching a b class horror movie. Yeah, it's that good. So the story is pretty much a revenge story gone wrong. The murderer gets dosed with something that turns him into a monster. It's a classic tale of cat and mouse chase stuff, but I liked it better than I expected. I like a good laugh every now and then

I gave Santa's Bloody Terror 2 stars because I didn't DNF it. This book is sleazy AF. If you're a fan of Richard Laymon's books, you may enjoy this book. I'm not a fan of Laymon's horny teen boy style. I would've given this 2.5/3 stars if it didn't have the racist comments and rape scene. Not my cup of tea.

On a snowy Christmas night, Laymon Memorial Hospital is understaffed, Samantha is overworked, Zack is hot for Nancy ... and Samantha, Jared is hot for Samantha, Santa is hot for Samantha, Randy is hot for Dr. Simpkins, Dr. Simpkins is hot for any swinging Richard, and Santa is hot for Dr. Simpkins.

The Shorter version: The representation here was the most insincere aspect, weighing down a story that could have been a quick horror read, but became a list of overstated prejudices that the author was ticking off. The writing tended to hit a polemic state, writing the men to act a certain way so the author could berate them, while also focusing the reader's attention on sex and horny women. The gory story could have held its own, even with the less-than-stellar writing, because you just want a quick sleazy read.

The Longer version: I can't say that the writing was exciting or enthralling but I'm guessing you generally know what you're in for before you get in, to a degree. From the book description and the positive reviews, I expected something other than what I got. It tended to sound juvenile in descriptions and characters' thoughts, but even more so with the clichéd perspectives against a pushy black woman, bully jocks in high school, angry gym bros, spoiled rich kids, cops shooting unarmed men, mass shootings, workplace sexism, racism, and many Christmas references that were forced for the theme more than they were sincere to the environment. The men were also useless with their bravado and "heroism", and the cringe hit a high when Officer Terashita (more so the author) barked out,

The repeated uses of God's name in vain were tacky. I don't get bent out of shape over errors but interchanging the names of Randy and Jared, when Samantha is telling Randy about Jared, can get discombobulated. It delivered on blood and gore but I wasn't expecting the Not my style. The painting of egotistical, horny, or sexist men is kinda ironic considering the graphic sex written in, with a heavy focus on characters prioritizing their hormones for each other over being chased by a monster. Every character who had their thoughts written, at some point focused on getting lucky.

There was a fair critique at one point about the focus of hospital execs on funding lab departments and allowing the patients/staff to get the shaft in being prioritized. Very 2020. It's also kind of an homage to Die Hard's atmosphere: bad guy(s) taking over a building and people fighting back to survive ... at Christmas.

I almost gave up on this book. If it hadn’t been a short one I probably would have.

The writing was not very good, it felt really amateurish and the typos were frustrating, this is no elegant tale.

The story itself was not so bad, a good idea but not very well executed. I liked some of the gory horror descriptions but the characters lacked depth and everyone seemed horny, you’re scared out of your mind but still thinking about sex?

What started off as a reasonable plotline deteriorated as it all got a bit unbelievable and over the top ridiculous. Too far fetched.

The author might have potential if he could control some of the sexual urges, it was unnecessary and distracted from the actual horror, which was decent. The writing was so sexualised in fact it was like reading a young school boy's fantasies and was not well written from a woman’s point of view, it showed the author's lack of maturity.

Overall a really disappointing book from what was a good idea. A bit of fun from the horror element but the sex and the poor writing really let this down.

2 stars and that’s me being kind.

Eric Blood really does not hold back in this one! The gore, the horror and the dark side of humans is evident. It is written in different perspectives mainly, Zacks, Samantha's, Jared. There are four others but they are short and not really 'main' characters. The switching between these perspectives creates suspense and keeps you reading.

The writing was fast paced and reminded me of a slasher film. Little clues are left here and there about the hospital, why it is so empty and how this is basically allowed to happen. The - I am going to say villian because I do not want to give away spoilers. The villian is quite simple yet terrifying in many ways.

I gave this three stars. It was a nice quick read, reminded me of slashers which I love. There are some highly explicit scenes though which I personally do not like so much but is a staple in any horror novel.

A hot nurse, a hurt patient, and a deranged homicidal ex boyfriend turned monster. That pretty much sums up the whole story in one sentence. I loved it.
