Can Jasmine and him finally be together? Find out when you read "The Roommates Desires" by Destiny Brown.
SURPISE MUTHA F*!!! This book is full of surprises. As it begins, it feels like a college smut story. It pulled me in like a well-written Penthouse Letter. Everyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE TO READ SMUT! As our protagonist, Dre is introduced and developed as the main character, we see his dilemma right away. Long-time best friends Dre and Jasmine are college roommates. Talk about awkward moments! Dre is forced to internalize his feelings for Jasmine as they live with one another and dates her high school sweetheart, Michael. One awkward moment after another, the story builds and plants seeds that will later come to fruition. Brown does an amazing job developing her characters and building a story that is ever-changing, just like real life. Dre has gratuitous amounts of sex, but not with Jasmine… at least not at first. The awkwardness is a foundation for the story development. Dre goes through the emotions of young love, love triangles, and plot twists galore. This “rollercoaster” of a tale takes you on a gut-wrenching and mind-spinning ride. The writing skills and imagination of Brown surprised me as I read what felt like a smut book in Act I. By Act II we saw less of the smut and more character and story development. Without giving too much away, come Act III, the dramatics embedded within the pages of this book have exposed themselves for what they really are, a romance novel. When I read books and enjoy them, the words disappear and form a movie inside my head. This book was like watching a good “chick flick.” I felt the raw emotions. I felt the suspense building right up to the end when I cried from the heartbreaking climactic ending where sadness meets happiness. A MUST READ, he Roommate’s Desire is a solid 4-Star rating for me! For a first novel, this was well done on Destiny's behalf. The way she depicts the characters help keep the reader engaged and connected to their lives. My only complaint were some inconsistencies in the story line that seemed a little careless or just something she forgot to fix in the editing process such as where a vacation would be taking place and other little things like that. All in all, it was a good read and I will be recommending to friends that I know enjoy erotic novels. Can't wait to read more from Destiny and to watch her grow more as a writer.
Hot, steamy, fast-paced and emotional - this book got better and better with each page. Dre is in love with his best friend and roommate, Jasmine but she has a long-term boyfriend. There is so much more to this book than a simple love triangle however; there are twists and turns, and plenty of drama. I liked how the story was told from Dre’s prospective and the development of the characters throughout the book showed real growth. This was an enjoyable quick read.
This book is a brilliant read for anyone who loves the erotic genre.... though I must say the story itself is unputdownable! Keeping you fixated on all of the characters and where Dre ‘s love life and life is going I didn’t want to stop reading until the book ended! Full of twist and turns this book keeps you engrossed in each chapter as surprise after surprise keeps popping up! Would recommend to anyone who loves a quick afternoon read and a little sex in their stories...
I read this straight through in one sitting. It's a wild ride of angst, drama, and sex. So much sex! It's a fun and emotional read. Sit down, grab a glass of wine (or whiskey cause you might need it) and jump right into The Roommate's Desires.
It is a good story. Drew irritated me a bit in the beginning but I came around to like him. Jasmine is a piece of work. I'm glad they found love. I wish the manuscript had been edited a little more.
Brown has written a five-star novel, a romance uniquely told from the male main character's point of view. This book has a strong plot, well-developed characters, and a fresh writing style. It's a sexy, fun, sweet romp of a friends-to-lovers story.
Wow, what a start to this book! It really throws you straight in to the hot stuff from the very beginning. It’s a story of love, rejection, passion and friendship. The characters are well crafted with depth and emotion and the plot, although full of twists and turns, is clear and easy to follow. Not an easy task for the writer. Although the language stays true to the characters’ age and environment in the dialogue it’s still mature and rich overall. It’s a difficult blend which the author has achieved without making it feel disjointed. The reader gets to follow the life of college student Dre, who’s in love with Jasmine, a girl who loves someone else. He is smart, loyal and a great friend who’ll do anything for the girl of his dreams. Until she crushes them one too many times and he has to decide whether to stay or let go. Ultimately, it’s about kids turning into adults and stepping up to the plate instead of taking the easy way out and run. It has all the emotions, angsts and naughtiness you’d expect and my only wish is that it was a bit longer. A great read and highly recommended!
