For Roxanne McNally, being a grim reaper has never been easy. Now she hates her job more than usual, because she’s been charged with reaping the soul of a legend—werewolf Marty Andrews Flaherty. Marty, together with her equally iconic friends Nina and Wanda, are Rocky’s idols. To say she’s an OOPs fangirl is putting it mildly. No way is she willing to deal with eons of hate Tweets for taking the soul of a paranormal superstar. Reaping supernaturals isn’t even her gig. She’s strictly human-only. No. There must be some mistake with the list, and she’ll get to the bottom of it…if she can just ignore the distracting reappearance of a certain hunky doctor in her life.
Hudson Kahlil—frequently known as Dr. Sexypants among besotted patients and staff—could swear he knows Roxanne from somewhere. As a phoenix who’s regularly reincarnated with no previous knowledge of his past lives, he’s not surprised he can’t place her. Though he’d love to reacquaint himself…and he may get the chance, since they’re both temporarily staying at Marty Flaherty’s home, protecting her while racing to find an unknown threat.
Nina, Wanda and their assorted framily may be able to save Marty’s immortal soul from an enemy whose plan is still unclear…but they can’t save Rocky from the backlash when her secret past connection to Hudson is finally revealed.

Marty’s Terrible , Horrible, Very Bad Day by Dakota Cassidy
Paranormal romance cozy mystery style. From the Accidental series. Book 17. It can probably be read as a standalone but would advise reading at least a few of the fist books. I’ve read 7 of the series so while I didn’t I know everyone in the list of characters, I knew the dynamics and history of Marty, Nina and Wanda.
Cute with quirky characters and often snarky dialogue. A built family and friendships being the key to happiness. And of course, love, since this is a romance. An easy read.
Marty's Horrible, Terrible, Very Bad Day is a hilarious blast for the rest of us. In this “It’s A Wonderful Life” type knock off Marty's in a coma and Nina, Wanda and the gang are at a loss. Add in a Grim Reaper, a phoenix and a gargoyle and things get really interesting. It was a blast revisiting with old friends and finding new ones. Dakota Cassidy and this series hasn’t lost a step.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! It was a great fun read! Marty is the founding member of the "OOPS," and she is also a werewolf. Marty is a supernatural being, and she had a heart attack. Very strange. That should not have been possible. Rocky, the grim reaper assigned to Marty, also thinks that something fishy is going on. Rocky is trying to solve this mystery, and keep other reapers for taking Marty's soul. Not to mention the very yummy doctor that used to be Rocky's crush. ( or was he ? ) Loved the characters + the storytelling! It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book! I can't wait for the next book in this series.
REVIEW PROVIDED BY: Kelly NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4 What happens when a former human turned werewolf has a heart attack in the middle of her karaoke solo? Nothing short of pandemonium for the people of OOPS!! With Marty out of commission and Wanda 5 million months pregnant it is up to Nina to take the lead on this mystery. But every turn seems to bring them to the same conclusion something is afoot at the Circle K and no one can tell them why. Enter Roxanne who has vowed to protect Marty at all cost, the only problem is that her normal job is to take lives not save them.
This was a great quick read. I enjoyed watching how the OOPS clan was going to figure this one out. The addition of a Grim Reaper was really fun too. As always I enjoyed this story immensely and can’t wait for the next installment in this series.
Disclaimer: I purchased this audio book and this review is my own opinion and not a paid review.
Loved this book as much as the other 16 books in the series. I did miss Marty being up and about, but the story is great anyway. I love how everyone is part of the Family!!! Can't wait to read the next book in the series!!
Marty's Horrible, Terrible, Very Bad Day is the 17th book in the Accidentally Paranormal series, but you don't have to read the previous books to enjoy this one.
Marty, Nina, and Wanda are the founding members of OOPS (Out In The Open Paranormal Support), who help accidental paranormals cope with their new lives. The three best friends were accidentally turned into a werewolf, a vampire, and a werewolf/vampire (or is it vampire/werewolf?), so they can relate to the problems new accidentals face.
The story picks up shortly after The Accidental Mermaid, with Marty in a coma at the hospital. She had a heart attack and stroke, which is odd for an immortal. Even odder is that the grim reaper assigned to collect her soul, Rocky, refuses to take Marty's soul.
Rocky is convinced that a mistake has been made, so goes undercover at the hospital to keep an eye on Marty and make sure no other reaper collects her soul before Rocky can figure out what's going on.
Knowing that mistakes rarely happen and that her superiors have confirmed that Marty is on The List, Rocky is still convinced that it's not Marty's time. To complicate matters further, one of Marty's doctors is the Phoenix that Rocky has had a crush on for decades. Uh-oh!
Is Marty being on The List a mistake or is Rocky risking her life & career for no reason, simply because she's an OOPS fan? And will Dr Sexypants the Phoenix light Rocky's fire, or is she doomed to crush on him from a distance forever? Inquiring minds want to know!
At under 200 pages, this is a fast, fun read! Loved hanging out with the OOPS girls again, even with one of them in a life-threatening coma.
Dakota Cassidy writes fun books filled with colorful characters and snarky dialogue. Marty, Nina, and Wanda were accidentally turned into a werewolf, vampire and werewolf/vampire. They became BFFS and helped each other through the paranormal changes. Together they vowed to help others and founded OOPS (Out In The Open Paranormal Support). Their escapades are legendary —- think Lucy and Ethel meet Stephanie Plum!
The story opens with Marty in a coma. Hospital cardiologists Dr. Valentine and Dr. Hudson Kahil (aka Dr. Sexypants) attend her. Dr. Kahil is a Phoenix and is reborn every 500 years.) Roxanne McNally is a Reaper and was sent to reap Marty’s soul. Rocky hates her job and is convinced that taking Marty’s soul is a mistake. Rocky and Hudson have a past that only she remembers!
Nina and Wanda think Marty may wake up if she is in her own home. They hire Dr. Sexypants to take care of her. Rocky shows up at the house and announces that she is a reaper, but needs help proving Marty is a mistake. She thinks another Reaper will be sent to harvest Marty’s soul. So everyone is on guard. An attempt on Marty’s life, an appearance by Rocky’s angry father and a discrepency in Hudson’s life span lead to myserious events.
I was given an advanced copy of this book for my honest opinion. If you enjoy quirky characters, humor and misadventures, you will enjoy this book and any others with Dakota Cassidy’s name on it!
The ladies.from.O.O.P.S. Have their work.cut out for.them.this.time. Marty, the first one of them to be turned. ( into a werewolf ) he fallen gravelly ill in fact she should be dead. The only reason she is still in the land of the living is Rocky McNally, who is a Grim Reaper, she was assigned to collect Marty's soul but disobeyed. Ricky is sure something is wrong, Marty is an immortal they don't get reaped and not somebody of Marty's fame especially, but she can't get any answers as to how Marty's name came to appear on her list all she gets is do your job the list is never wrong just deal the soul and don't ask questions. But Rocky can't do it not to somebody's famous in supernatural circles who she admires so much so she is just hanging out around Marty's sickbed waiting for some clue as to what is going on. Rocky does not intend to let anything happen to Marty if she can help it and luckily there's also Marty's doctor Hudson Kahlil who just happens to be a Phoenix and every five hundred years he dies and reincarnates, coming back with no memory of his previous lives. So he has no memory of Rocky or what they were to each other and Rocky is forbidden from telling him. This mess is going to take a miracle to resolve luckily that's what the OOPS ladies are famous for.
This was another fun read in this ever-growing series. Nina, as always, cracks us up with her frankness and word vomit. Although she comes off as a baddie, she is a big softy inside for those she loves and cares about.
Marty has found herself in a bit of a pickle. There looks to be no hopeful outcome, but her besties are fighting by her side and doing everything they can to bring her back to them.
The plot was not overly complex, but when a Reaper is sent to reap Marty's soul, something seems off about the whole situation, and that something more sinister might be at work.
The characters are, as always, fun, some downright hilarious at times. Roxie was introduced to us, and we loved the girl's fight, her determination to put her life on the line to do what is just and right. While on her mission, her life has gotten more complicated by the day as she meets the man who stole her heart many years ago.
We enjoyed the plot twists in this story as they kept you guessing about the who, what, and why. When the villain presented itself, we had to say we did not see that coming, and we love it when that happens.
Overall, we enjoyed the suspense, all the different paranormal characters, the witty banter, soulmates finding their way back to one another, and the constant reference to Dr. Sexypants, who had no idea just how sexy and charming he was.
Dakota Cassidy's ability to differentiate the action, appearance, and dialog of her OOPs girls is always astounding. This was another great read in the accidental series. I found the recap on past accidental stories also a pleasant part of book#17. I found the only deterrents to be the lack of specifics regarding the afterlife, the In-Between, and punishments also seemed vague and possibly arbitrary. Who also makes the list? Readers would want to know this. Hudson's isolation and Dr. Valentine's extinction also left me wondering???? I also wanted to know more specifics about the reaping process. This too was very vague. I still enjoyed it immensely because no group is as endearing as the growing OOPs family; although, their devotion to one another almost seems too good to be true.
I love this quirky series. Have so missed Nina and the gang. Great characters Rocky and Hudson. I am so happy this author is back writing one of my favorite series. It has snark, humor and best of all love, loyalty and family. Only regret is Wanda hasn't had the baby, come on. I can't wait for the next book. Please take the time to read them all you won't regret it and I guarantee they will bring you much joy and laughter.
Once again the characters are unique and fun. I might suggest that Wanda have that baby pretty soon before she out does Nina in the angst department. Rocky and Hudson are a lovely addition to the OOPS family. The only thing I find unbelievable with this story, is that Marty allowed a coma to silence her. I would have bet good money that she would STILL have found a way to talk. Well played Dakota, you truly can produce miracles.
This well written story was fast paced and engaging. This group of characters are so well developed and likeable that they truly stick with me. So much so that I can pick up and dive right back into this world without have to go back and re-read to get the full effect of this series!
Bring an avid reader of books articles and..children’s essays it’s fantastic to pick up books which captivate me from start to finish. I’ve read every book she’s written snd look forward to reading all to come. Life has so much stress having books to escape to is valuable. Enjoy
I'm a huge fan of the Accidentals series! Dakota is a great writer, who created a wonderful world in this series! Great characters, dialog, action, storyline and romance! I loved this book! I highly recommend checking this series out!
I'm not really good at writing these reviews , just know that I enjoy reading about the oops family there is nothing like opening a new book and reading about old friends.
Rocky and Hudson are a great add on to the team of misfits. So, glad our gal Marty was back up and running and our family gets extended by 2. The Accidental books are always entertaining and Dakota gets it.
Absolutely enjoy every book she writes but I have to say this is my all time favorite series I've EVER READ!!!!!! AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ SERIES!!! If you enjoy the paranormal and laughing your butt off then read her books!!!!
I like these books a lot, but the grammar errors are annoying ("lie" is present tense, not past tense, among others) and I much prefer Meredith Mitchell as a narrator than Hollie Jackson, who really does a bad job with male characters.
3.5 stars This was a cute short story. I couldn't find it in print, so I had to listen to the audiobook, and yeah, I prefer print. It was good, and it kept me interested, though it was pretty formulaic. Yeah.
Dakota Cassidy is one of my favorite authors. She slam dunks it every time. I just loved going back to the roots with this story. Read it love it people
