The Ropemaker's Daughter

Rate this book
Rebecca habitually questions the people she meets and steals the stories they tell her, claiming them for her own. But then she meets a man whose story is already familiar, a man who says he knows her. The real Adam threw himself off a Cornish cliff ten months earlier, so who is this imposter, and what does he want? Enter Paige, who will help Rebecca discover the truth about herself, about Adam-and about love between women. But even she is not what she seems. This compelling suspense asks the question "Who can you trust?" and comes up with some frightening answers. Virginia Smith works as a librarian in the south of England.

this book is about a girl who reinvents herself every time she meets a new person. it isnt until someone, who claims to be her ex-boyfriend who committed suicide 10 months earlier, approaches her that she is forced to examine the truth about herself and about her lies. it made me think about any lies i've ever told about myself, and how they will, if ever, catch up with me, and what i was trying to accomplish by fabricating the truth about myself in the first place. this book was really really great but i did not like the very end. also there is a little lesbian twist, never a bad thing;-)
