PnG is a sequel to THE DOLL, following the once-sedate lives of Vincent Lynch and his Doll Kai. However, Lynch's dark past eventually found them both -- leaving them broken and 'dead'. With a mix of reluctance and a fierce personal motivation, Lynch returns to what he was -- to reclaim what was his.
"After the Fall" short story was written for Libre's THE DOLL release -- the first meeting of Lynch and James Bianchi.
It took forever to read and I did not enjoy this sequel. 2 stars for the pretty art, but by FAR my least favourite GP novel. The Doll should have stayed without sequel.
I've read The Doll again to prepare myself for PnG and after finishing both I have to criticize something. For my liking I didn't get enough page time with Vincent and Kai interacting with each other to connect with them properly. I can't recall how much time actually passed between The Doll and PnG (but they moved to Belgium and lived there for quite a while already when the shit hit the fan... again) but we learn very little about it which makes it hard to understand/relate to why Vincent will do everything to get Kai back. The stuff that happens is, as usual, pretty hardcore and it got to me (especially when Pete was involved) but to hit me on a deeper level I needed a better connection to Kai and Vincent's relationship. Pete's fate on the other hand was very moving and I'd like to read more about his past.
