I'm not all that special, really. Or uncommon. I'm sure there are a lot of girls with old gypsy blood who see the dead, have killer cults hunting their family, and turn into something that gets scary when they panic. Yep. Completely unoriginal, if I do say so myself.
Move along. Nothing to see here. Nope. I'm just an ordinary girl.

I wish people would believe that.

I've been labeled as one thing or another for most of my life:
Death Girl.
Crazy Gypsy Girl.
Gothic Chick.
Monster...

It took my mother's death for me to finally start getting answers about what's really been going on. Unfortunately, most of the answers come from men...who aren't just men. Somehow, I've gone and landed myself in a world truly filled with monsters, and I'm starting to think this is where I should have been all along.

Only...I don't understand what's going on. I'm walking into the middle of a story that's thousands of years old, and I'm the new girl on the block who doesn't have a clue how this world even works. My only guides happen to be the most lethal of the bunch.

They decide who lives or dies. They decide who gets stabbed or tortured.
Yeah...

I've gone and drawn attention to myself, and the ones paying attention are the ones everyone else seems to fear.

How do these things always happen to me?

Gotta be honest, I was expecting full on monster smut... What I got was a slowburning, worldbuilding, plot featuring hot alpha monsters , where a gypsy girl moves to small town to find out that every myth… is real. And now they won’t leave her alone

descriptiondescription

Violet I’m gonna be honest she was pretty damn naive, and I’m little concerned whether the bitch has any survival skills

Being a Portocale gypsy, she has special blood that enables her to see ghosts and interact with all the monsters of the world… she’s just never met any till now, I guess

This was one of thoseee clicheee heroine has very limited knowledge of the world she belongs to *yawn* and a parental figure who only divulges THE BARE FuCkInG minimal information

description

But thankfully we have the helpful BFF sidekick, her name is Anna who was by farrr the thirstiest fucking ghost I have ever had the privilege — nay the PLEASURE of reading

Honestly, Anna totally added another element to this book. I adored her witty comments and constant sexual jokes to break up the tension… wait did I enjoy the thirsty ghost more than the main character ?? Huh

Essentially, the plot is Violet arrives to take over her mom’s shop, expecting just a small town.. instead she finds a city of monsters

We meet Emit the werewolf, Vance the Van Hasling monster killer, Damien the ?? succubus demon guy ??, and Arion the original vampire who are basically from the 4 origin monster families

description

Each of the guys were pretty great and clearly distinct from each other. With their own voice and motives so when the chapter’s switched to their POV, they didn’t all mash together and sound like the same fucking person !

I quickly found my favorites, but generally liked them all and it was brilliant how we got more insight into their hilarious group dynamic. They all hate each other, have wayyy 2 much history but can never escape their group
“I have never envied him more than I do in this moment, and I’m seconds away from stabbing him…if I can find anything to stab him with.
“Where’d you get the damn cookies?” It’s the most ridiculous question to ask with such an urgency to one’s tone.
“From the only Portocale gypsy who wouldn’t have any clue just how big of a deal it was,” he tells me.
“So what’s the cost?” I ask him like nothing else matters.”

description

You’d think each of these powerful monsters would be powerful alphas just ruling their own little corner of the world. Nope. Each of these punks have been FUCKED UP by life and have been cursed. Honestly.. they are kinda a mess.

We find out that each alpha has been cursed, understand their history together, and fall *little bit* more in love with them every chapter.

The reverse harem, was slow as fuck. It wasn’t nearly as sexy as I expected and wanted. Actually I don’t think we even got to first base for any of them ..... boooooo.... but hey we still got a couple more books

description

My main critique that god I just hopeee they fix in the second, is the plot: Tighten up son! I have literally no idea what the plot of this series is gonna be. I have no idea what Violet’s goals or motives in this world are.

I want the second setup to help us better understand where our characters are going now *now that we’ve met everyone. Honestly, this book was a clear a “intro book”.. because the plot was virtually nonexistent and only focused on having Violent learn about the monster world— characters meet each other— and some funny confrontations

Overall, it was a pretty fun and easy read. I loved the characters but I was a little confused in the beginning about what exactly was happening. I loved the general world with the Gypsy elements and paranormal just blending for something new fun and just full of crazy monsters! The perfect book for the first day of SPOOKY SEASONNNN

It wasn’t the title that pulled me in…

There seem to be two things that make me look twice at a book cover, a striking (not necessarily handsome) bloke and a beautiful cape. I’m not sure what it is about them, but I would LOVE to have a hooded cape of my own. Maybe it's the historical romance reader in me because I'm still envious of the one Jane Bennet wore in Pride and Prejudice (BBC version). Now, the practicality of having a big sweeping hooded cape in Australia has held me back from ordering one. For starters, it would be too bloody hot. Secondly, where the heck am I going to wear it? So, I saw the cover of Gypsy’s Blood from a recommendation (thanks, Lily) on Goodreads and I was intrigued enough to look a bit closer.

So, I’m reading the blurb and nodding my head thinking *Yes, this works for me…*

THEN

REVERSE HAREM?!?!?!?!?!?!

Now, don’t mistake my explosive reaction as being fully in the negative. It just kind of shocked me for two seconds. It’s been a wee while since I’ve stumbled across any group “action” in my reads so I had to readjust my expectations. I’m feeling kind of risqué and up for taking a walk on the wild side…why the heck not???

Ummm…excuse me, I think someone left out the harem action.

Ok, what I was expecting and what I got was completely different, but, as you can see by the four stars, I still really enjoyed Gypsy Blood. In my dirty little mind, I was picturing Violet getting ravished by the monsters. What I got was a young woman moving to a town and finding out that all those scary stories she thought were unreal, were very, very real. Violet is surrounded by monsters and some of those monsters won’t leave her alone.

Side note - these are my kind of monsters, there are no 3 headed, green-skinned or ugly monsters in sight. These monsters are the bossy, growly, sexy and magical kind that I love.

At times while reading Gypsy Blood I was a little frustrated. Things seem to be moving along at a snail’s pace and I had so many questions that needed to be answered. And, of course, I was waiting the whole time for a little of this “harem action” to kick in. But, alas, we’re in the first book of the series, and I need to get to know the lay of the land before I get any action.

Honestly, I chuckled when I read the author’s note…”Don’t kill me. Please.” I was lucky enough to have Gypsy’s Blood recommended to me at the same time the second book was released. I went in knowing it was going to have a cliffie ending, but with the second one waiting, it hardly fazed me.

The characters were interesting, the storyline, while slow to begin with, definitely picked up speed. There is an underlying hum of sexual attraction between Violet and the monsters but at this stage, we’re still mostly in the dark as to where it will go. I’ve already bought Gypsy Freak and I can’t wait to see if All the Pretty Monsters come together for the reverse harem thingamajiggy.

So I'm a bit of an idiot and I downloaded a bunch of books after taking some muscle relaxers for my back spasms and when I woke up, I found this book and many others on my kindle as a great little surprise for myself. I started reading this one and got about halfway through before I remembered "Oh! There was a reverse harem in there!" This is one of the few times where under the influence me and Amazon actually got along but I do not condone this method of shopping or you will end up with a 5 pound bag of gummy bears delivered to your door and received by a slightly judgmental husband.

Anyways, I went into this book thinking it was just a quirky paranormal romance and while it was that, the addition of the reverse harem was just icing on the cake.

Violet has old gypsy blood which makes her able to see ghosts and interact with all the spooky spooks in the world, including but not limited to werewolves and vampires. Her crazy albeit charming sidekick, Anna, is the world thirstiest ghost who is about to jump on any warm male that she can find and give you a full narration in the process. Since she can't actually touch anybody (and nobody but Violet can see her) she is more than happy to live vicariously through her friend and encourage her most strongly to get on the pony.

Violet is sort of the silent but deadly kind. She is powerful with the magic in her blood and she uses it in unconventional ways. I love that she able to take people by surprise in this book and actually fucking defend herself instead of relying on the menfolk to get her out of sticky situations.

This is definitely a promising start to the series. I don't want to get too much into the plot because there is so much that could be spoiled, even by just describing what the hell is going on. There are twists and turns and manly men that like to walk around nekkid. Which Anna is completely okay with. As I would be too. Yow.

First off, I really don't think the audiobook is the way to go with this one. The male narrator didn't really differentiate his voice that well for each guy, so it was hard to remember which of the three men were talking when the male narrator was speaking. The book started out fine. Violet's mother dies and she spends time trying to understand secrets and the people around her. The world building, though, was really slow and it really felt like this book was just an introduction to when the story will start in the next book. There wasn't even an inkling of romance between Violet and any of the three guys. Anna was funny, but her character got old after awhile. I wasn't really invested or interested in this world or story and don't really see myself continuing on in the series.

The Dark Side is one of my favorite series.
This one is already topping it though.

The world building had me scrambling a tad in the beginning and I sort of had a hell of a time separating the new characters initially. It definitely got better at about 40%.

description

Damian, Emit, Vance and Arion are all separate individuals. I enjoyed their personalities immensely.
They are all cursed. They are also sort of bad dudes.
I am fairly positive that everyone in this book is cursed a bit. They all apparently deserve it too. Poor Damian has it the worst in my opinion.
The curses are not that predictable either so that is fun.
I am not sure is fun is the right word...

description

Violet/January is great. I LOVE her. She is in the dark about so much. She has her own secrets too though. Violet moved to town when her mother died because her mom left her the shop in the will, she assumed it would be safe there.
The town ends up being full of monsters and monster hunters. There is no way for Violet to hide who she is even though she does try.

I absolutely loved Anna. Her character had me laughing out loud so often my family thought I was losing my mind. Anna is so perfectly, insanely, inappropriate.

As you might be able to tell I thoroughly enjoyed this book I didn't even know existed three or four weeks ago.

I mean, this books' name was thrown to me at random, as most thing are in the RHR lair. The place is wack. There are rooms within which are populated by LOTS of cake, swooning, books and the occasional random stranded male specimen, all randomly and suddenly airborne without notice, rhyme or reason. It is quiet and then *boom* suddenly out of nowhere everyone appears, chaos ensuing shortly thereafter.

It was a fine day when I walked into a room and narrowly avoid a book about Archangels or something that was thrown at my beautiful face, along with a piece (or three) of cake. Suddenly out of the chaos a voice rose, saying GYPSY'S BLOOD . I had only a moment to think of it before Praying Kitten & Aqua Sparkle poofed on either side of me, chirping about it so loud you could hear them from space.

Having read her very first book, Four Psychos, I didn't need much convincing to read this one. I read it. I loved it.

Now, having not finished her other series and me in reality being three couch potatoes and a muffin in a fifties dress pretending to be human that knows how to people, I can't help but compare these two books in a fashion that greatly resembles nothing of a review.

These two books are nothing alike yet they have two key ingredients that are the same in both: The Structure and the Pace.
Beyond that everything and everyone else is different.

The story is intriguing. I've never read anything revolving around Gypsy's and the paranormal elements blended well with it to create something new and exciting!

The characters were great, and above all, distinct. Each one had its own clear voice. To reiterate this was the fact that we got POVs from most all main characters.

My absolute favourite one was Anna, The Pet Ghost. Sidekick extraordinàre to our heroine. I can go as far as to say that I WANT AN "ANNA" FOR MESELF ASAP!

The guys are my seconds. I mean is the sun blue? Yes, yes it is! I love their frienemy status! You can just taste the comfortable & second skin familiar hate that can only be brought forth from the strongest of Bromances.

I think there was someone else I had to mention.. Hmm.. Oh yes, Violet or whatever her name is! Lol, don't let me fool you my peoples. She is a good character, she's just quiet. As death. That however, fits extremely well with the rest of the cast. If she was with other people instead of this set then you would have forgotten her before you started reading. I forgot her at times during, if I am to be honest.

Overall I greatly enjoy French Fries and being as random and as creepy as fuck. You can now pretend you haven't already stopped reading and go away to read this book.

I’ve been wanting to read this other Kristy Cunning series after reading and loving the Dark Side series from her! So many people told me I had to read this reverse harem series so I finally did for the PNR Readathon.

I really liked this first book but it wasn’t an instant love like it was for Four Psychos. We have a gypsy heroine whose family line holds magical powers and our heroine Violet can see ghosts. She grew up isolated with her mom and has no idea that monsters besides herself exist. When she moves to the town that her mother died in to take over her mom’s business, she discovers there are vampires, werewolves, monster hunters, and more kinds of creatures who live in her world. It’s a reverse harem with 4 guys but I won't say too much about them since there is a reveal about the 4th guy at the end but I did like that we get their POVs.

The romance is barely there though – it’s definitely the kind of romance that builds throughout a series, which I don’t mind. I liked all 5 of our main characters and there’s a hilarious ghost that follows Violet around who is constantly horny and cracking jokes. It was a solid first book in a series and I’m excited to read more of the series.

People were right. This book is very camp. See that hideous cover? It adds to the charm.

I'm gonna say something controversial though: I hate Anna. (She's the ghost sidekick)

I know she's the crowd's favorite and most people love this book because of her but I cannot stand her. She's not funny to me, just annoying.

I love the fmc, Violet, though. She doesn't get on my nerves. But the thing that really put this book up there is the dudes and their "friendship".

“I didn’t come here to talk about you. I came to talk about me,” I remind him.
“Why do I give a damn about you? I’d much rather talk about me,” he volleys, narrowing his eyes.

The boys banter like an old married couple and I love that for them (✿◡‿◡)

── .✦ Slow-burn
── .✦ Small size harem (4)
── .✦ Paranormal (vampires, shifters, etc)
── .✦ Ghost sidekick
── .✦ Actually likeable fmc
── .✦ Hilarious banter between characters

Okay so i have been obsessing over reverse harem books for a few days now and i really didnt like the books i read but this one.... holy shit! It’s seriously nothing like I expected to be or i ever read before, this book is a combination of romance, suspense, paranormal activities, supernatural creatures, mystery and hilarious side characters. I thought Violet who is the heroine ll get a insta love story and fuck the guys like bunnies but NOOOO. She is a gypsy who has no idea about the dangers lurking around and her mother never told her how their world works. She arrives at Shadow Hill to take over her Mother’s store which she left after she died to Violet and in the town she meets Emit who is a warewolf, Vance who is a Van hasling and Damien who is...... i have no idea what he is but he loves mirrors 😂 and then Arion is the leaders of the Vampires. Violet’s friend Anna who is a ghost is my favourite, she is funny af and i couldnt stop laughing. This book was a bit creepy which put me to the edge, really suspenseful and i couldnt put it down for a minute. The ending... HOLY FREAKING SHIT!! I had not seen it coming, it was so unexpected and i cant wait to read the second book. It was a bit slow and i was up for it, there isnt much more romance in the first book but it was still interesting and hooked me till the end.

We see how Violet tries to discover about her new town and who killed her mother, meanwhile the guys are obsessed with the new gypsy who has very little knowledge about their world and the guys. They are attracted to her but their relationship built really slow, i really liked it that it wasnt insta love and the characters got to know each other first and trust one another. The guys cant stand each other but they wont ever kill one or the other. It was so funny to see them interact cuz they hated each other so much especially Vance and Damien, they cant even be in the same room without fighting but they had to talk cuz of Violet. Overall i loved the whole story, the entire plot was intresting and the characters were so amazing. I never read something which is so funny simultaneously suspenseful and creepy. At some parts of the book i got chills cuz it was getting so creepy but then suddenly i started laughing cuz Anna said something funny 😂😂. I felt all kind of emotions and i hope the second book is like that too.

Great start, very funny!

Gypsy Blood (All the Pretty Monsters Book 1) by Kristy Cunning is a funny and clever book with all kinds of creatures living in one area. One gypsy comes to town to take over her mom's business after her mom is murdered. Many monsters want her dead but no one will tell her why. Lots of action and hilarious fun along the way. She is saddled with a horny ghost too! Pure hilarity!

3.5 stars

After her mother’s murder, Violet Portocale moves into the little town where her mother lived and had a small gypsy business. Violet wants to find out who killed her mother, but her plans are thrown out the window when she meets three of her wealthiest new clients and realizes that they somehow know she is a Portocale gypsy despite her giving them a false name. She also comes to realize that when she changed her will to give everything she owned and her business to Violet, her mother made sure she would move into a town full of monsters, and Violet can’t figure out why her mother would knowingly put her into such danger.

Portocale gypsies are an old gypsy family, with special blood that allows them to see ghosts. They have also been hunted for generations now, but the “why” is still unclear to me. All we know is that there is a cult after Portocale gypsies, and they made it their life goal to kill them all.

Some part of the magic or secret code the gypsies adhere to is a little vague, and you have to just push through and hope that eventually it will make sense. There is a big deal around Portocale oranges for some reason, as well as gifts and being indebted to someone, but it is never explained clearly how that works. While I don’t like it when authors info-dump us randomly, I would still have enjoyed a little more information here. The same goes for gypsy pride... Is it a magical power? Something all gypsies have, but can lose over time if they are not careful? I am still not sure I fully understand.

While I love the ideas in this book, and there is potential for an intriguing series to develop, this book was not that amazing or impressive. I loved the last 15%, but the rest of the book was a little bland. It felt like all Violet did was run around in town, trying to figure out how to be a gypsy, and what secrets the men were hiding.

“I don’t exactly feel safe,” the monster girl says to the monster hunter, who has no idea she’s a monster.

Violet is made of a lot of contradictions. She seems naïve, clueless, and helpless, yet she has badass mysterious superpowers that make her almost invincible. I am not the most confident in her survival skills, but hopefully, she will become more interesting and it will feel less like she’s being dragged around by everyone in the next books. Also, I am not a fan of the whole “heroine not knowing anything about her world or heritage” trope so it didn’t help since this book is mostly about Violet figuring out how little she knows about the world and what being a Portocale gypsy means.

It’s been a while since anything has captured our interest. Most things have grown redundant or boring over the centuries, but a Portocale with no fucking clue who we are? Seemingly has no clue about herself, although she certainly knows she’s a Portocale?
It’s the makings of my newest obsession.

Violet is the new Portocale gypsy in town, and she attracts the attention of all the alpha monsters around. Vance Val Helsing, the monster hunter feels compelled to protect her, while never really explaining anything to her, but he’s refined and very charismatic so we forgive him. Damian Morpheus remains a dark and sexy mystery for most of the book, and he’s intrigued with Violet partly because of who she is and what she hides, but also because he sees how the other alphas are attracted to her and sees it as a game. Emit is the alpha werewolf, and it’s clear that he is intrigued by Violet too, but also not sure if she is genuine or not in her ignorance of everything related to the Portocale’s way.

Violet also develops a strong bond with Ace, a ghost who has been stalking the three alphas for years and takes pleasure in helping Violet manipulate them into giving her the answers she seeks.

Even though the three alphas and the ghost all seem to be attracted to or obsessed with Violet and she finds them all hot and sexy, I would not qualify what is between them as romance. It’s more lust and the small, tiny beginning of something more. I know it will end up being a reverse harem, but I have a feeling that it will be a very slow burn, and I am fine with that! For now, there is sexual tension, and the potential for some good chemistry, and I hope the development of the romance will be well-paced and not too rushed.

“I didn’t come here to talk about you. I came to talk about me,” I remind him. “Why do I give a damn about you? I’d much rather talk about me,” he volleys, narrowing his eyes.

I am a sucker for angsty betrayals, and I absolutely adore the plot twist at 90%. I did not see it coming, and I might have screeched a little bit when I read that part. The author did a wonderful job with this character and this betrayal, because I loved the traitor before and was hoping that Violet could find a way to end up with him, and now I am rooting for him even more, even though he betrayed Violet and ended up being slightly psychotic.

Anna is Violet’s best friend, and she is an amazing comedic relief throughout the book. Ghosts don’t “live” forever, the closer they get to their final death, the more delusional and out of touch with reality they get. Anna is getting closer and closer to this final death, making her a pathological liar who often doesn’t even know that she is lying. She was hilarious at the most random moments, and knowing that the guys could see her, but had to pretend they didn’t made it all even funnier especially since Anna seems to be obsessed with the fact that she can’t have sex anymore, and is trying to push Violet to be wilder so she could live vicariously through her.

On a side note, the audiobook might not be the best choice for this book. The female narrator is fine, but some of the male characters, Emit in particular had a strong accent and were very hard to understand at times. The male narrator also didn’t differentiate the voices of Vance, Emit, and Damian that much, so it was a little confusing at times.

This was so good but I feel like I have so many freaking questions! Mostly because of that god damn ending!!!

Gypsy's Blood will definitely make you swoon, laugh, and get mad occasionally? It will definitely depend on the reader. Now I loved Anna (the ghost) and Violet. Their friendship just gave me joy and I loved them so much. Anna was that one friend that just made everything funny. She was hilarious from start to finish and I can't wait to see what the hell I'm going to get in the next one. Then there's Violet.. and I was a bit confused with the whole family tree. I have no idea who her actual mom is.. or where her deadbeat dad is.

I have so many questions when it comes to her.

Besides all of that, there's Damien, Emit, Vance, and Arion. I loved the first three because they seemed like such heart throbs. We don't really get to meet Arion until the end.. and if you want real information.. he's basically Ace. It was a little twist that blew my mind.

Overall, I loved this book. The twists, turns, and sexual tension were everything. I want so much more in the next book and I can't wait till I jump into it.

I’m uncharacteristically late to this BR with the Reverse Harem Revolution but better late than never!

First Cunning gives us Four Psychos, now she gives us four monsters

and they are epic!

This book has been all I've heard about since Dec. So I had some pretty big expectations, but I'm happy to say. Its worth all the hype.
I wont even be able to review this fully because I am itching to start into the next. yes I am glad I waited so I don't have that awful wait for the next one! haha I can start right now

So I'll be brief;

Anna is the star of the show I love that crazy ghost! Violet really was the Robin to her Batman

The lines she came out with were just, classic. Too many to highlight. Every time she appeared I wanted to highlight the whole thing.

“I just gave him a phantom blowjob. If I lick it first, that makes it mine!” she shouts from somewhere behind us.

“I’ll stop, Gov’nah!” Anna shouts with a faux Southern accent. “Please don’t throw salt in my vagina again!”

I just want to be her when I become an invisible ghost some day.

The monsters are just the icing on the cake. Such a great harem. I love it when its a mix of paranormals. So slow burn but it's going to be hella satisfying! The tension is building and I love it

"I’m supposed to be the reckless one. Arion is the psychopath. Emit is the broken, savage beast. Vance is the one who has his knickers jammed up his asshole and is supposed to keep the rest of us in line."

They haven't shown us too much of their monster side yet but I have high hopes!

I live in Ireland right. So my view of gypsy's are not in line with the gypsy's we have here in this book.
I need to re-align my mental picture from this

to more

They seem to be a race of supernaturals in their own right but with some of the foresight and potion making we might associate with a gypsy fortune teller. Violet is a powerful one and holds some secrets herself.

I cant go on anymore, suffice to say this is making my top 10 RH. but then so did 4psychos by the end of book 1 so I still have my fingers crossed this doesn't head the same way. Maybe it took a nose dive because Kristy was working on this little gem instead

On the whole I really enjoyed this.

There’s tons of reviews so I’ll keep mine short so I can move straight onto the next book.

I liked the guys, their relationship and the way they interact.

Anna was the star of the show, she stole the book and made me laugh. She’s the reason for the 4* not 3. Well her and the humour.

Violet was naive, boarding on completely unbelievably clueless.

Yes it felt overlong in places and I just wanted it to get moving and find out what was going on. It’s a first in series but now the scene has been set so I’m hoping the next book won’t drag.

“Just don’t run up the stairs!” Anna calls from behind me as I gamble and pick a direction. “The secondary characters always end up dead first when they go up the stairs, and you’re simply not interesting enough to be the lead character in this story,”

I am surprised I enjoyed this book. I was introduced to the author with the Four Psychos series. I still haven't read the fourth book because Paca got too much for me to handle and I'm not in the mood for her chipper.

This book had a character that was like Paca but it was easy enough to ignore her. Violet is a pretty nice heroine but I just don't like the way she's so trusting. I can understand why, since she had been left in the dark by her mother, still I wish she was a bit discerning.

I really love that we have the guys POV in this, finally a chance to read a RH that gives individual personalities to the guys.

I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

While not badly written, and the worldbuilding is interesting enough, the entire book is basically talking. Not only does everyone sit around and talk the whole book, but it irritates me when the lead doesn't know what's going on, only has it told to her in bits, and doesn't believe the new information for extended periods of time. I got the men confused on who was who. The ghost was funny, but sometimes even I wanted to salt her when she got on my nerves. Again not horrible, but not much interest for me long-term.

An enjoyable start to the series, just not one I felt immersed in, and the end of this book left A LOT of questions unanswered. For everything that is revealed more questions emerge.

Violet is a Portocale gypsy, who has moved to live in the town where her mother was murdered, but with almost no knowledge of her heritage, and the curse suffered by the powerful monsters of the town, she's in for a bumpy and eye opening ride. A ride she shares somewhat with her companion a lying, sex hungery ghost .

This is labelled as a reverse harem, but I wouldn't call this a reverse harem book, although there are small, fleeting hints of potential romance towards the end with 3 or 4 of the male leads. Maybe that will be a more potent and explicit component of the next book?

Small moments of amusement, but I wanted more depth, heat and intensity.

So this was great!

Loved the different houses.
Loved the gypsy take on things.
Loved the seeing ghost part.

Totally digging this world-building.
It was fun. It was captivating and I loved how it actually has both character development and a plot. I find most RH too focused on the sex.
It was just so refreshing.
I can’t wait to see them form affection toward each other.
I got a feeling it will be vibrant.
And I legit can’t find out who I like the most of all the alphas. They each has an appeal I just can’t shake😈

Read: 28/06/2020
1st rating: 4 stars
Genre/tropes: RH/romance/vampires/werewolf/hunters/magic/monsters

I tried really hard to like this book, stopped reading twice and then tried again..but it just doesnt get any better so quit at about 78%. I was sick to death of how many times the words "portocale gypsy" appeared throughout the book. Every page it said and sometimes a handful..just so overused. The premise sounded good but for me it didnt deliver, i kept waiting for things to pick up and get better but it didnt. The main character isnt 3d, has nothing appealing about her, no personality whatsoever. Too much information is missing to put things in context, and the little that comes too late isnt good enough, i just couldnt enjoy it and annoyed i wasted so much time on it.

2022 reread
I’m now reading this for the 4th time. Is it a masterpiece? No. It definitely has problems, but I love the mystery, the humor, the slow building of the romantic interest/attraction between the characters. Anna is both hilarious and annoying which is so very valid because she annoys the characters too.
And the information withheld? I complained about this my first go around but omg it makes sense why they want to keep her in the dark. And telling their past is a huge ordeal.

This is my second series by this author and I was so into it. I absolutely love it. There are some serious cliffhangers here and information is withheld from the heroine (UGH), but for the most part I really like the characters and where the story is heading.
It is crazy, fun, and I gotta know what is going to happen next!

This was an interesting one, and I actually put off reading it for ages because I loved the Dark Side series so much, I was scared I'd be let down. Then I tore through this book in a morning.

The heroine I liked a bit more than Paca, I think. I loved Ace the hero. Unfortunately I'm still on the fence about the other three heroes - I preferred the personalities of the guys in Four Psychos a lot more, even though people complained that they blurred together in that series.

Safety warning: there's an implication that one of the heroes has an orgy with four other girls a LONG time after he meets the heroine, near the end of the book. Everyone else is safe as houses.

I really did enjoy this. I must say, if you’re thinking of picking up this series and expect a quick series of action. Don’t. It’s rather slow but with purpose.
We’re introduced to January/Violet who’s the most precious gypsy ever! Especially with her little partner Anna whom I absolutely adored. The story starts with us learning from the beginning who Violet is and slowly shows us what she’s capable of. She’s a bad ass heroine who’s so kind and sweet my heart can’t help but want the best for her.
We meet the Alphas who contribute in their own way. See how well they all blend together. First book is an intro. So excited to jump into the second right now!

I loved this!!

I really enjoyed four Psychos by Kristy Cunning so I was looking forward to reading another RH series by her and she did not disappoint.

With Four Psychos I was more into the story but with this I was more into the characters (if I am being honest the storyline was bit confusing). I adore all the characters in this book, especially Anna, OMG she is freaking hilarious, I really hope that Violet figures out a way to save her because she is adorable.

This was another great RH read, I would highly recommend it to all RH fans.

This is fun!

I've had this book on my kindle for ages, I dunno why I haven't read it until now.
It has an amazing potential, Anna is so much fun! I can't wait to see what happens next.

It's the kind of book that's hard not to enjoy. Yeah, it doesn't have any 'hard' stuff in it, it's more relaxing than complex, but it's the perfect read for a nice weekend. Impossible to put down and really fast-paced.
Definitely worth trying out!

This is the second series I’ve started reading by this author, and it might be even more hilarious than the first one! I’m a fan!! Danger, romance, spice, betrayal, and intrigue - I just couldn’t put it down! "Gypsy Blood" is about a young woman with magical abilities and a mysterious past filled with secrets she doesn’t yet understand or know about. She has a ghostly sidekick who says the most outrageous things, and it cracks me up every time 😂. In this paranormal world, there are vampires, werewolves, witches, ghosts, and some kind of magical gypsy thing? Can’t wait to hear more!

Oh man, I was really looking forward to this one but sadly yet another disappointing reverse harem novel... I wish to finally find a good one, where there's actually some action going on and the book is not being a YA rated one. So far the reverse harem books that I've read were beyond slow burn romance and with some I even gave up the wait for something to happen. With that being said, if the plot and the characters are awesome, I will read a couple of books in the series even without the hots going on but if the first book doesn't give me much of a feel then I'm just out. And the same happened with this story. The book just didn't grab my attention and the characters were only so-so for me. So that's why I stopped reading at 20% and just skimmed the rest. But if you like the blurb and even the first 10%, then keep on reading. Sadly this one just wasn't my cup of tea.

I adore Kristy's crafty writing. It's dark, mysterious, snarky and filled with a lot of inappropriate vagina jokes and lame pop culture puns. It might sound like a terrible combination, but the devil is in the detail and the execution is b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l!!!

"I was a vampire once, until a bitch staked me through the heart. They called her Buffy," she manages to add with a straight face, appearing a little bitter. "She looked more like a Sarah to me though, if I'm being honest."

Unlike Kristy's previous series, this one is more confusing (at least it was to me), as the characters identities are revealed (in most part), but the world is somewhat of a mystery. I know that Violet (once upon a time called January, until she faked her own death), is a gypsy. After her mum is killed she inherits her shop, and moves there to continue the business. She thinks it's safe to do so, otherwise why would mother dearest lead her in that direction? While it's not exactly safe for Violet, it's not like its particularly dangerous neither. Or at least it wouldn't be, if she wasn't completely in the dark about what's going on - which leads her to put her trust in the wrong basket.

With no friends or family around her, Violet spends most of her time with her pet ghost; the ever horny Anna. The number one rule for gypsy's is: do not make eye contact with ghosts. But when Anna rides into the church on top of Violet's mums casket, I can't fault her for looking. Apparently ghosts can deteriorate and in that process, they become pathological liars who will make up the most random stuff and pass it off as facts. This pet ghost/sidekick is a most welcome addition to the story. Her lies are as outrageously funny as her obsession with Violets vagina and the fact that she never uses it - much to Anna's dismay as she's swooning over pretty much all the monster men they meet.

"Oooooh la la. Hello, you sexy, devilish savage," Anna purrs, appearing beside me.
"Tell him I'm a porn star from the nineties. Or was it early two-thousands when they started keeping the downstairs painfully tide?" she asks, tapping her chin with her index finger while seriously deliberating the matter.

The Little Red Ridinghood vibes are strong in this one!! Not only because of the red cloak she inherits from her mother, not only because she gets hunted by wolves and not only because she admits that things seem to go wrong when she doesn't follow her mums advise. But put those things together, and the vibe gets stronger. Looking at the cover it's impossible not to have those puns, ideas and directions in the book, though. And it does actually work!!

The guys: Damian, Emit, Vance and Arion are all separate mysteries. I enjoyed their personalities immensely, especially the strong anti hero vibe. It seems they're all a bunch of cursed monsters and one monster hunter (yes sirree, none other than a Van Helsing).
Come to think of it, I think everyone in the book is partly cursed and partly deserving of their suffering.

I cannot wait to read the next book in the series, and (hopefully) find out exactly what is going on. But one thing is certain; if monsters are like that, I wouldn't mind one hiding under my bed!!

4.5. I really loved this!!!

The author's Four Psychos series is one of my favourite RH series' and this is an absolutely brilliant start to something I think I might end up liking more!

This has, for me, what Four Psychos didn't have, and that's interesting male characters. The Four Horseman became pretty interchangeable for me eventually, which is often a problem in RH, but certainly not here. Vance, Damian, Emmitt and Arion are all very separate and individual and they are, indeed, beautiful monsters. They're all reasonably bad guys, and they have all obviously done something pretty awful in the past to be in their current predicament, but I love them all and couldn't tell.yiu which my favourite is at his point! There's also so much unexplored back story between the four men that I can't wait to find out!

Violet is a great character who also has so much about her that we only just scratch the surface of here. She's a monster herself, but neither she nor the reader at this position not really know what that means. I loved her attitude and her reactions and actions towards what happen to her. She's very likeable and I rooted for her pretty much straight away.

Her ghostly side kick, Anna was both absolutely helarious and at times a little annoying, but I thought she was a great addition, too. She reminds me a lot of Paca in her crazier moments.

In summary, if you liked Four Psychos then I really think you'll love this. It's different, but has a lot of the same vibe and character dynamics, but improved in my opinion. Apparently the next one is out in 3 weeks and I cannot wait and while there is a cliffhanger, things get really interesting!

Okay, I loved this so much. I don't typically like to wait on sexy times in my romance books and because this isn't YA, because our MC is 25, it had the same slow burn. But I loved her other series under this pen name, Four Psychos, and it pretty much did the same so I wasn't surprised. I'm REALLY hoping book 2 ramps it up. The guys aren't perfect and have some pretty annoying flaws, but that just makes me like them more. I love when an author takes a risk creating MCs who aren't...expected. Also I should note how funny this book is. Her female MCs lean toward this snarky, semi goofy personality and I have to admit it's my favorite.

I started and finished book one yesterday and I plan on devouring book two today!

*Edit: There were a few things that left me confused. Some were obviously purposeful and it sounded like an explanation might wait for book 2 or book 3. But others I was like...?? For instance one MC said he couldnt believe he'd told her what he "was". I STILL had no idea what he was, lol. The explanation was weird and made no sense. There are a few instances like this so my review remains until I see if I can find answers later on. =)
