This four-book collection includes “Camp Club Girls and the Mystery at Discovery Lake”, “Elizabeth’s Armadillo Adventure”, “Elizabeth’s San Antonio Sleuthing”, and “Elizabeth and the Music City Mayhem.” As someone who grew up reading Nancy Drew and Lois Gladys Leppard’s “Mandie” series, I was eager to see what the genre is offering twenty-first century girls. Despite having a modern setting and making use of current technology, these stories had an old-fashioned, reassuring feel to them. There is a strong Christian thread throughout each of the stories, but it is not over-the-top. The girls are very respectful toward their elders, addressing them as sir or ma’am, and this was not only refreshing but also sets a good example for readers. The girls are well-mannered and courteous but not saccharine-sweet, nor are they perfect, and they do make mistakes; as such, they are definitely relatable while also being good role models. The inclusion of all the Camp Club Girls in each story, even if the main focus was only on a couple of them, was fun and added different perspectives to each situation. I loved that Alex (Alexis) always made references to classic detectives and TV shows, and Kate’s affinity for gadgets provided an interesting angle. The two stories in which Biscuit the dog was featured were my favorites. I thoroughly enjoyed this collection, and although it is recommended for ages 10-12, I think that older girls (and even adults!) will find it appealing.

Camp Club Girls, a collection of books by author Renae Brumbaugh Green reminds me of the Babysitter Club mystery books. Elizabeth meets several girls at Camp Discovery Lake Summer camp where friendships abound and mysteries are on the horizon. These stories are well written and clean for girls ten years older and up. With great values and life lessons, these are perfect for young girls who are growing in their faith or for moms who are looking to give their daughters great reads with a Christian influence that isn't in your face. I love that this is a series focusing on each girl with a new one coming out every month. I can't wait to continue the adventure with the girls as I read the mysteries and even giggle along the way. I highly recommend this series to your pre-teen or teen. I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.
I heard about the Camp Club Girls series from Lindsey from Books for Christian Girls, who highly recommended it in her 2019 Anticipated Reads, Part 1, so when I got a chance to read this book, I took it!
The Camp Club Girls series is a middle grade series written for girls ages about 7-11, and is a mystery series! The six girls solve a variety of mysteries all over the country, and glorify God in the process. This book (and 5 more upcoming books in this series) are a reprinting that the publishers are making, made up of 4 books that were in the original series. I'm not entirely sure why they decided to go by character (i. e., this one is Elizabeth), instead of in order, because when I was reading it, the books referred to books that weren't in the anthology: the books covered in this series were books 1, 7, 13, and 21, and the other 5 books covered the others. Overall, through, I really enjoyed it, and look forwards to reading the other stories!
Book 1: Camp Club Girls and the Mystery at Discovery Lake This was the first book in the series, where all of the characters meet each other, as well as the reader. I really enjoyed this book, and since I wasn't aware that these were mystery books (bc I'm dumb and didn't read the title), finding out the mystery aspect was really fun too! The mystery part was a little bit more intense than I expected, which was nice to find out: it wasn't just a wimpy little mystery, haha! Also I want a puppy 🐶 Rating: 3/5
Book 7: Elizabeth's Amarillo Adventure Book 7 in the series, but the second one I read, this was a fun read: the girls are on the hunt for some gemstone based marbles, and they are trying to find it before an unknown stranger in a cowboy hat finds them! This one I wasn't particularly a fan of, since the girls disobeyed their parents (even they were punished for it) and also were just snooping around in public when there was a stranger poking around. Rating: 2/5
Book 13: Elizabeth's San Antonio Sleuthing This was a fun book, although it was a bit dated (Kate, one of the girls, is really into technology, and managed to date the book in the process). I really enjoyed how level-headed the girls were in this one and also strove to honor God in all that they do in this one. They befriended a bunch of kids that were local, and helped several people and businesses along the way. Rating: 3/5
Book 21: Elizabeth and the Music City Mayhem This was my favorite out of the collection: Bailey is my favorite and I'm excited to read her collection. I also really liked the music aspect about this and the small suspense part of it. Again, I really enjoyed the way they sought to honor God, and also befriend others and help them while they were at it, all with a smile on their face. Rating: 4/5
My Rating- While I tended to rate each of the individual stories lower than average, it was simply because it was a series that was not for me: I'm not really in the middle-grade demographic. Overall, I would definitely recommend it to girls that are in the proper age range who would enjoy it, and I would have enjoyed when I was that age. 4/5
Thank you to the publisher, Barbour Publishers, and Netgalley, for providing me with a free e-copy of this book in exchange for my honest review; I was not required to write a positive review.
I decided to check out this book since I have a tween daughter who loves camp and enjoys mysteries. However, she is not much of a reader. I am hoping the story will entice her to want to read this book regardless of her enjoyment of reading. I read the first chapter to her, just to see if she would like it; she did! We read together since she has some dyslexic struggles and a few of the words seemed a little above her reading skills. We read a little every day, and she was always begging me to keep on going... Personally, I loved reading Nancy Drew as I was growing up, and this book kind reminds me of her mysteries. Of course, Nancy Drew was a little older than the girls in this book, who are just tweens - the oldest being fourteen. Nonetheless, these girls have no trouble sniffing out a mystery. The first book in this 4-book combo starts out with the main character, Elizabeth, meeting several other girls at camp. They have a mystery on their hands and they become fast friends as they work together to solve it. It will draw you in from chapter one! As you read the other books in this series, you see that even though they are no longer at camp, the girls continue to be friends and consult with each other on mysterious matters that come up. The book is fun for young girls, contains a thread of faith, friendship, and more. I liked how Scripture was woven throughout, with enough food for thought to be an asset but not really overwhelming. I do believe girls who enjoy mystery and love to read will like this series. I think it promotes great faith values and friendships. My daughter really enjoyed it, and was so excited about it, she was telling her friends they needed to read it too! I received a copy of this book from Barbour. I was not asked to write a positive review and all opinions are my own.
First things first: Target Audience: 10 to 12 years old. Actual Audience: AARP. Some of that audience discrepancy will assuredly reflect in my thoughts on this book. But I'll try really hard to keep it balanced. And here's where I throw myself under the bus. Back when I used to read and review seriously and prolifically I was pretty hot and heavy grabbing books from NetGalley. And. . . when I sort of just walked away one day processing life I had a lot of books still left on my shelf. They aren't new books but I'm still committed to read and review. I will always give credit that it's an Old NetGalley with a sense of shame that I dropped that ball but I'll remain committed, regardless of the personal shame. Where I struggled with this book. Let's start with faith. Many times the pressure to get faith into the stories felt stilted and awkward. There were times where it was natural and real but more often than not it felt contrived. The random dropping of Bible verses felt forced is the only way I can explain it. A target audience reader may not feel this way or pick up on it even. Now, keep in mind this is a reprint of stories that were previously released in a different layout. Additionally, I found the pop culture references a bit dated. These are modern girls understanding and knowing references from things when I was a young (songs, TV shows, etc). Even as the AARP target audience I found this book easy to read. Four separate mysteries combined into one book, each 12 chapters so it really read as a collection of novellas. Because of the novella vibe I'm going to let slide the feeling that there was a lack of solid character development and the way things always just fell into place for the girls with many side story-lines and mystery development dropped. Best I have been able to put together this book (and the remaining ones in the series) takes the different girls and combines their different mysteries into one book about them. With that comes a bit of reference to things that happened with other girls so a keen eye will lead that it's a bit out of order of how they happened and wrapped more around the center stage girl. My niece is right in this target range but she's also scary gifted. I feel like she would be one that wanted more. More back story, more development of the story and the situations. But I also think at the end of the day she would have loved this book.
Camp Club Girls & the Mystery at Discovery Lake (Camp Club Girls #1) Very cute start to the series! I enjoyed meeting all the girls and an adorable cutie named Biscuit. Fun story and mystery. Looking forward to enjoying more of this series!
Elizabeth's Amarillo Adventure (Camp Club Girls #7) This was a fun one. I liked the historical aspect of the mystery and the way Elizabeth, Mackenzie and Elizabeth’s friend Megan worked together to solve the mystery. One of my more enjoyed ones of the series.
Elizabeth's San Antonio Sleuthing (Camp Club Girls #13) What a fun and exciting mystery ! I enjoyed the San Antonio locale and the mystery fit the location perfectly. I enjoyed the friends Elizabeth and Kate made during the story and what those characters brought to the story. Really liked this one!
Elizabeth and the Music City Mayhem (Camp Club Girls #21) Easily my favorite of the Elizabeth's stories of the Camp Club Girls series. As someone who was born in Nashville and has listened to country music her entire life, this story was right up my alley. The mystery was super good and the famous names that make cameos are a lot of fun. Definitely one of the most exciting and best endings of the series. There are elements that are a bit implausible but my overall enjoyment of the story makes it deserve a full five star rating. This is my last one in the series to read as I read them by character and not number order, and I am sad there are no more new mysteries for me to read. I have really enjoyed this series!
This new book is a collection of some of the books that Renae Brumbaugh Green has written about six young girls who meet while attending a summer camp at Camp Discovery Lake. These girls work together to solve mysteries that seem to occur whenever and wherever they are and they become known as the Camp Club girls. Elizabeth is the focus of this book as she and the other five girls become involved in four different stories: Camp Club Girls and the Mystery at Discovery Lake; Elizabeth's Amarillo Adventure; Elizabeth's San Antonio Sleuthing; and Elizabeth and the Music City Mayhem.
I grew up reading Trixie Belden and Nancy Drew mysteries and I am so happy to learn that young girls now have this series to satisfy their own love of mysteries. The Camp Club Girls stories are wholesome, faith-based stories that offer scripture and examples of Christian living while offering them adventure and the joy of discovering and solving clues. The target age is 9+ but I believe that these books will be just as enjoyable for an older female audience.

Camp Club Girls: Elizabeth is the first book in the series by Renae Brumbaugh Green. This book is a compilation of 4 stories of six girls who meet at Camp Discover Lake summer camp. This book contains stories based in Amarillo, San Antonio, and Nashville. This book focuses on Elizabeth but brings in the other girls. The stories are very well written, clean mysteries written for10 year olds and older. Using modern technology, the girls work together to solve the mysteries, such as where are gramma's marbles and who's behind the cruise boat problems. This is a great story for the pre-teen or teen girl. The stories have great values written in them as well as Christian influence, without getting preachy. This is a series in which each book focuses on each of the girls, with a new book coming out each month. I would highly recommend this book for those who enjoys a good clean mystery. I received complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.
How often do you get to read well written books for pre-teen and young teenagers?
The stories in this book are: The Mystery at Discovery Lake, Elizabeth's Amarillo Adventure, Elizabeth's San Antonio Sleuthing, Elizabeth and the Music City Mayhem.
Each of the six girls from various places in the country meet in Camp Discovery Lake and find themselves curious as well as scared of a mystery but they are determined repeated to find out what is going on! The four short stories equal 377 pages and they are all good as well as inspiring for today's youth. I am reminded of the Nancy Drew mysteries that were so popular in the past. This is today's mysteries!
If you are looking for a clean and fun book for your young daughter this is a good one to read.

These stories are reminiscent of the Trixie Belden books that I read multiple times growing up.
In the first story we meet six girls ranging in age from 9 to 14 years old. As they all arrive on the first day of camp they meet each other. They immediately become friends as they settle into their cabin. They are very well developed. They each have different interests, strengths, and weaknesses.
They are very observant and once one of them identifies a mystery they all jump in using their own skill to help solve it. Each of the mysteries is different but they are all undertaken to help someone else out.
I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that they encourage each other with scripture. They also go to God in prayer asking for guidance and protection.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, through NetGalley. I have chosen to write this review to express my personal opinion.
Camp Club Girls: Elizabeth is a fun collection of four mysteries. They include: Camp Club Girls and the Mystery at Discovery Lake Camp Club Girls: Elizabeth’s Amarillo Adventure Camp Club Girls: Elizabeth’s San Antonio Sleuthing Camp Club Girls: Elizabeth and the Music City Mayhem I enjoyed every one of these quick stories. I found Elizabeth and her friends to be inspiring and great role models for young girls. I would not have any problem handing this book over to my nine year old daughter and allow her to read it. I would love to get the other books in the series to complete the set. I believe she would enjoy it more than me and I loved it. I give it five plus stars. I received this book from the publisher, but was not required to write a review. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
This four mysteries in one collection is well worth looking into if you want a good challenge into a good read into a good who-done-it. Our first mystery stars a tiny dog by the name of Biscuit, and this mystery takes place at Discovey Lake; along with the Camp Club Girls. Great characters, along with some great clues that seem to be very well hidden. So, lets follow Elizabeth and the Camp Club Girls as they have a lot of fun looking for ways to try and solve the mystery of the missing marbles, but will they be able to find them before someone else gets in on the act? . And, who will get the blame for some strange events going on at the River City Cruise Boat business? Will the girls be able to snag a crime in progress? And, speaking of mysterious events, Elizabeth and Bailey look into a mystery as to who would steal a valuable guitar from Music City. An interesting read; especially when you can get 4 mysteries in one book.

Being a girl who grew up reading Nancy Drew books, I loved this Christian version of Nancy Drew. There are 4 mysteries in this one book and once I started reading one of the mystery stories, I had to finish it on one sitting as I was intrigued. Very well written. And I enjoyed how Bible verses, the gospel and living the Christian life was seamlessly a part of the story. What a great book for preteen and teen mystery lovers. Wait even adult mystery lovers can enjoy this book especially if there were Nancy Drew readers

In the first book of the Camp Club Girls, Camp Club Girls: Elizabeth, readers will be treated to 4 mysteries in one when six girls meet each other and decide to form a club and in the process end up solving mysteries as well.
While the recommended age for this series is 10 and up, it is definitely a series that I think even adults would enjoy whether that be reading it along with their kids or even by themselves! So, if you have a child who loves to read mysteries, then the Camp Club Girls series will be a great choice for your reader!

This is a collection of four short mysteries featuring Elizabeth, Bailey, Sydney, Kate, McKenzie, and Alexis. The four friends met at Camp Discovery Lake, and they're amateur sleuths. Thankfully, there's not a shortage of mysteries for them to solve.
This book is a nice display of friendship mixed with mild suspense. There is a spiritual component, but it's not the main focus. The characters and dialogue are realistic. This book would be appropriate for girls 9+, as the characters are pre-teens/teens. The girls are distinctly drawn, and there are strong supporting characters. Fans of books like Nancy Drew and the Boxcar Children will likely enjoy this collection.

This is a four book collection. It's got some Christian influences. There's good characters in these books. It's a great book for kids possibly 9 and up that are not sure about God. It shows him in a light but real way in kids to their age. Also shows call isn't scary because at that age it can be precived that way.
This collection of books by author Renae Brumbaugh Green reminds me a lot of the Nancy Drew Mysteries. Several young girls meet at camp, become friends, and mystery ensues! These stories are great for ages 9 and older.
Strong, well developed characters that are good role models make the stories enjoyable to read. The girls are respectful and kind. They also love to have fun and solve mysteries. There is a thread of Christianity throughout as the girls attend church, talk about being a Christian, etc, but it in no way is the author “preachy”. She simply shows hows God is a part of our lives all the time.
I would highly recommend this compilation of books for the girls in your life.

The first in the series of books for young readers about young detectives who meet at a camp. There are four novellas within this book. Younger kids may get a thrill from a few cliff hanger moments but I don't think this would be too scary. Age range 9 to 14 probably although an 8 year old and even a 16 year old would still enjoy it. Elizabeth and five other girls meet at camp where they are roommates. Also where they solve their first mystery and become the Camp Club Girls. The first novella features their meeting and solving this mystery. The other three mysteries happen later in various locations with Elizabeth and one other camp club girl at her side with the others providing support long distance. The girls make friends along the way, learn lessons and of course solve a mystery. Faith, prayer and scripture are intertwined into the pages in a way that allows Jesus and faith to be a natural part of this entertaining read. The girls aren't perfect, but they are good characters for young girls to look to.
