Dnf..

Firstly, the h is so mean and selfish. She is unable to pay for her further studies so she tells her mom to marry her rich boyfriend. Wow !! Who does that ? That’s so selfish.
Then she has a guy friend who likes her but she ignores him all the time. She isn’t turned on by him as he is not hot. But still she has kept him as a standby boyfriend. One day while feeling horny she seduces him but he brushes her off as he no longer loves her. Lol. The h totally deserved the humiliation. How could she treat people like this..

I’m so not interested in reading about such selfish and idiot heroines. Also the book is very lengthy. Can’t waste my time on such books.

I discovered this author on Audible! And I really enjoyed this book.
It’s sexy and romantic and not a standalone. I do not like continuing series but already have the next book ready to listen 🎧
Damien and Bethany are the main characters in this book. Loved this storyline, it has so much to it. A sexy entitled and demanding brooding alpha and a submissive female.
Besides that it’s a hot romance it’s filled with secondary characters that I’m sure may have their own books.
Also, Joe Arden is an extremely talented narrator and I love his voice. This book was not long enough for me.

The only reason this book got two stars was because SOMEHOW I actually finished the book and I reserve 1 star ratings for DNF.

I hated both main characters.

I don’t get the brother/sister attraction. Like even though their step siblings. Still it’s fuckin weird.

The main character basically forced her mom to marry her billionaire boyfriend. So that he can pay for your masters in fuckin ACCOUNTING? because you don’t want to pay student loans ?

Super selfish. Who the fuck wants a masters in accounting anyways ? 😂 (can’t relate)

Just fuckin don’t!

Don’t read this book.

I got the book for free and I would be pissed if I had paid for it.

The story was good and I liked the characters but honestly it was just too long. There was a lot of unnecessary information in it along with a lot of repeat information. I found myself checking to see how much longer and skipping through the many sex scenes. Nothing against them, but they didn't help move the story forward and it was getting boring. I wanted to find out what happened which is what kept me reading, but it was a struggle as I felt like it dragged on unnecessarily. This book would be a great book if it was condensed by quite a bit.

I really wanted to give this story more than three stars, but I received this as an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) and am obligated to give an honest opinion and review. This was a good story with interesting characters and a unique storyline but the chapters are too full of unnecessary details and to me, it just didn’t keep me excited to turn the pages. This was too long of a book without enough suspenseful content. As a reviewer of several books from Ali Parker, trust that this isn’t her normal style and don’t let this be your one and only book to try from her. She is seriously one of my favorite authors and usually earns 5 stars.

Literally some of the worst hot garbage I’ve ever read.
Is this author fat phobic? Sexist? Anti sex positive? The main character wants to bone her step brother but the girl in the office that said she wants him is a raging slut?
No plot. No story. Main character (Bethany) is a cringe-worthy, surface level brat. Damon (love interest and again, her step brother?!) is an arrogant asshole that should have had a sexual harassment lawsuit slapped on him from the get-go. Also Non-Con?!
Common. This is a joke right …right?

This was book 1 in the "Billionaire Alpha" series. Bethany is a recent college graduate who is on her way to getting her MBA when she finds out that her grants don't cover her she has to come up with her a plan. This was a good read that I thought was a little too long at times. When she encourages her mom to marry her rich boyfriend her soon to be step brother agrees to pay for her schooling if she comes to work for him. I liked Damon a lot he was a hot sexy alpha male and they had a lot of chemistry between them. The book did drag on at times too me. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I also liked the narration as I listened to this book while reading it.

A very well written story with great storyline and plot. My opinion is that it is too long. But it is an amazing read with likeable characters that have a great chemistry and both are passionate. I like the story is written in dual POV which gives the reader a lot more of the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. This brings the story closer and makes it more real.
A heartbreaking story that just caught me from the first to last chapter but at times it felt like there was too much filling in the story. It could have been shorter.
It is a read with drama, past issues, family problems, steamy scenes and lots of emotional ups and downs. The twists and turns are well described.

Nope. I enjoy a romance with a dominant alpha type as much as the next girl but this book did not work for me. No character development and the FMC was barely likeable. She meets a guy who acts like a total d**k and then she’s in love with him the next day. Walks in on him in an intimate act in his office with a random on day 3 and is all like but I want him so bad. Just no. I should’ve DNF’d it by 20% but I hoped I was wrong. Read something else. There are tons out in this trope that do it better.

A contemporary romance featuring accounting intern Bethany, who tells the story from her perspective, and Damon, her boss at his family accounting firm.

This may be less of a review, and more of a rant so be forewarned!
Oh my gosh! Can there be any two less likeable protagonists?

First, the narrator of her story has just graduated with her bachelor's degree at the top of her class while working several jobs, and all she wants now is to find the money to pay for her master's degree. Hence, she convinces her mother to quickly marry the CEO (need I say he's a billionaire?*) she has been dating so Bethany can cut a deal with him to help fund the last bit of her education, which will start in a week.

Not only does Kent agree to move up the wedding, but he also hires Bethany to be an intern under the tutelage of his son, Damon. When they first meet, it is lust at first sight for Bethany. She wants him in the worst way despite the fact her mother has warned her about his promiscuity and attitude. But the lust factor is mutual. While she constantly considers a relationship taboo (it isn't...they have different parents no matter if her mother marries his father or not), that doesn't deter her for wanting him.

Their first real interaction consists of Damon laying down his ground rules:
1. No drama
2. No lies
3. No complaints

and this is regards to both her internship/job and his desire to have her every which way.
Bethany may be brilliant, beautiful, and willing to succumb to Damon's wishes, but she brings drama to every encounter. Whether hating people on sight, feeling jealous of every woman at her job, playing mind games, calling people nasty names, or crying over every little problem she encounters, she is drama personified (especially as she knows she loves him after a day).

Damon, on the other hand, isn't much better. He is as big a jerk as he can be. He is an alpha male, devastatingly handsome, and controlling...in every possible way. Trying to make her do whatever he wants without giving of himself emotionally. Sometimes coming onto her at work (#metoo) and then shutting her down for not acting professionally.

They probably deserve each other, and the tempestuous relationship they forge.

The sex scenes are pretty graphic, but some seem completely inappropriate as they occur at work (consider me a stick-in-the-mud but I believe you can control your lust while at work), no matter who instigates it. Again, #metoo.

This is only Book 1 of their story, but this reader has had enough of their junior high antics.
* That and the over-abundance of What-the-tuck trends!

His “many demands” indeed. I could not stand the male MC demanding, domineering, petulant, sensitive (in a bad way), dick that he was. Didn’t like the fem MC much better. Instead of taking out loans to cover grad school and her bigger living expenses, this chick decides to pressure her mom into marrying her beau after a month of them knowing one another so she can syphon off the man’s money like he’s her sugar daddy. WTH? The entitlement is off the charts. She also did a bit of slut shaming and was kind of a snob in the beginning. She presented as a take no shit character but she bent to the male MC’s will Every. Single. Time. And she apologized for shit she shouldn’t have apologized for (he should have been the one apologizing). If she had been honest with herself and been unrepentant about liking an “alpha” (jesus I hate that word, but it fits because she used it herself and it fits the asshole of a male MC) I would have liked her more. But she wasn’t.

The only thing the MCs discussed at length was… well the male MC’s length and what he could do with it. It was very unsexy. Less talky, more showey. But even if there had been less sex talk and more sex action (and there was already A Lot of sex action), I don’t think it would have made this book any easier to read. The MCs had no real relationship. They knew little to nothing about each other, there was distrust galore, and the male MC had unreasonable expectations of the fem MC (no lying? I mean come on. Not even a little lie about him leaving his shirt over your house because you know he’ll take it back if he finds it? No complaining? Everyone complains, it’s how people bring up issues that need addressing. No whining more like). They didn’t have a single mature, reasonable conversation about building a stable, healthy, and long-lasting relationship and yet they both threw around the “L” word like they’d won the lottery.

I liked the llama drama climax wasn’t about the MCs, but by the time it’d happened, I had forgotten all about the fem MC’s supposed “besties” (who she didn’t speak to or think about for at least 6-7 hours of audiobook time). It was all random and the fem MC reacted to it all like she’d just watched someone set fire to her cat. It was over the top and so dramatic for characters I barely remembered the names of.

I finished it. But I certainly didn’t enjoy it.

This book was just too damn long. It had so many different plot lines going, it was hard to keep them straight. It could really benefit from another edit and proofing.

I'm not going to yuck anyone's yum by downvoting because of the step-sibling romance. But everything else? Fair game.

Want to read a book with an FMC that is a selfish brat? How about one where the FMC tells her mother that she needs her to marry someone because she doesn't have the financial means to get through school without him? Yes? Then this is the book for you.

Do you need to read about an alphahole MMC that seems to just want to play games or control everyone? Then AGAIN ,I say that this is the book for you.

I'm giving this three stars because... it could have been a good premise? Look, I can't get over how much I hate almost every character in this book and I'm a girl that needs a character driven story. These characters seemed very one dimensional.

Not for me.

A 293 page book shouldn’t feel like wading thru war & peace, but here we are.

So. Very. Slow.
And far too much superfluous nonsense that made the story draaaaaag.

Beth is a wet noodle. And I didn’t really get to know her. Her backbone doesn’t exist. Even when her friend commits a horrific crime, (which went nowhere & served no purpose), she’s still crying, feeling guilty, & supporting ppl that don’t deserve it.

There’s far too many side characters with their in-depth histories and issues, which interferes with the story arc.

Damon…is fine. He’s rigid and bossy but “his many demands” don’t really exist.

It’s a lot of nothing happens and party planning and accounting talk (super boring), which doesn’t add anything to the narrative.

I won’t be continuing the series. There’s too much of nothing going on.

The epilogue wasn’t an epilogue. It was a flashback that had nothing to do with Beth & Damon and was just a set up for another book.

It’s got small town vibes & created angst so if that’s your jam…this might be for you.

Listened to the audio. Love Joe Arden, excellent narration, though I can’t imagine what it’s like to narrate a book like this. Though steamy, I know there are far more steamy!
This is an insta-love story, with a touch of insta-dislike. Our h has just finished college, majoring in accounting, headed for graduate school in the fall. She’s had a life of poverty, father was a druggie that isn’t in her life, mother is newly engaged to a rich businessman who just happens to own a top accounting firm. He’s paying for graduate school, she’s to intern with her stepbrother to be. She’s heard he’s driven and difficult.
Upon first meeting she finds him controlling, arrogant, rude and totally hot and irresistible. Yet, in family settings he’s personable, except when he’s telling her what sexual situations he’s going to get into with her. (When mom and dad aren’t in hearing!) How can she resist? She’s not a virgin, but she really doesn’t have a lot of relationship experience, and mainly just hookup sexual experience. But she can talk the talk.
Did I mention she walked in on him getting a BJ from his secretary? And has a reputation as a manwhore? How could any smart girl resist?
TBH, I wouldn’t have even listened to it except Joe was narrating. The h is immature, jumps to conclusions and over reacts to everything, creating situations in her mind.
The H is inconsistent, overbearing and generally a jerk.

Bethany and Damon are enough to drive me to drink. I can’t quite decide whether to take the pair and try to shake some sense into them or cuddle them tight and tell them that everything will be alright. These two are crazy-making to me. I love Bethany and Damon so much but they’re both so invested in sabotaging their own happiness. Whether they mean to cause it or not, they create so much drama together. (My reality-TV loving heart glories in this just a bit.) Every time they get to a point where it’s smooth sailing, one or the other of them has to go and rock the boat, killing all forward progress they’d made together. Bethany and Damon go through so much growth. It’s a little painful to watch at times although it’s also so inspiring. And there’s so much else going on around them with their families, friends, and co-workers. It may be a bit unconventional, but I loved watching their family dynamic and all of the friends that have their best interests at heart. Now, I think I need to spend some quality time with Matt’s story.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.

I got through the first two chapters. Was not impressed with the heroine. The author did a good job making her seem like a total prick holy hell. Asks her mom to marry someone for money, body shames her friend, side commentary regarding any physical appearance less than perfect, tries to sleep with a guy she assumes is interested in her even though when previously asked about her he says no, physically throws herself at said guy oh and then proceeds to grab his crotch because she’s mad at him when he rejects her advances. If the tables were turned and a male did that to a female.... I don’t know but the words sexual assault come to mind. A quote from chapter one’s inner dialogue, “She was the smartest, the fastest—the best.“ okay Bertha.
If your looking for a good romance read to get off on and skip through half of, this is it. But really there’s probably better works of literature worth reading involving a similar poor perfect heroine and slutty billionaire who’s second head falls in love.

The story is horrible!!!!! It’s so boring, and 😴😴…This story was said to be all hot and steamy, but I got to chapter 16 and it was a lot of dry humping and grinding which usually I don’t mind at all, but this story literally put me to sleep. Sorry Ms. Ali Parker, I didn’t even stick with this one and it was included as part of my prime membership and I still couldn’t finish it……

Damon was supposed to be some alpha billionaire playboy dominant, with his own set of rules but I just wasn’t buying it….. The heroine, was supposed to be this super-smart sexy nerd and their parents were getting married which is part of what brought them together and started the heroine working for his and his fathers company..That by the way is as deep as the storyline gets…..woohoo😮😬😴Nope…..

Didn’t finish, didn’t like, won’t be adding. The only thing decent about this one is the narration.

The story of Bethany and Damon will take you on an emotional roller coaster. He's gorgeous, rich, arrogant, her boss, her stepbrother, a player, and many more adjectives. She needs her intern position to help with college expenses. Well written with complex characters and an entertaining read. No shortage of drama or sex. Bethany's immaturity is hard to deal with at times. Throw in an ex-roommate who goes crazy and more twists than a knotted rope. You'll find this book hard to put down once you start. Ali has another winner with this five-star read that I read as a reader copy and voluntarily chose to review.

Abso-fucking-no.

If an asshole alpha is like our boy Damon here, who I think his seduction tactics are as tacky as a mullet 'do, I don't think I'd be able to take much more. If the likes of him existed in this day and age, he is a sexual harassment case waiting to happen.

I would have loved to hear Joe Arden narrate an entire book and this would have been it. But with our hero giving me the cringe, I guess I would have to look for another book to do that (sidenote: His Australian accent is captivating!).

Not my cup of tea

I love billionaire romance but I just didn’t connect with this one.
What I hated:
1. Damon was just an a**hole and Bethany whiny and entitled.
2. Bethany was promoted from intern to Senior executive for no reason other than she was sleeping with the boss and soon to be step daughter to the owner
3. Some of the back story was unnecessary (Krista and Jake??)
4. You punch someone at work, don’t get fired, and the recipient thanks you because they got a free nose job out of it.
