"You've got to realize that I'm about half crazy". Gottlob's team had no tires, no trailer, no money and no more time. They had already missed the first day of practice and hadn't even left Kansas. Blatchford grabbed the Corvette keys, picked up his jacket and said, “Follow me.” “Where are we going?” “Daytona.” See the unlikely story of how the race team, that never should have been able to shown up, shocked the racing world.
Corvette Miracle: How an Unknown Team from Kansas Shocked the Racing World at the 1970 24 Hours of Daytona also known as Against All Odds in physical book form of which I am so lucky to own an actual rare copy. this book is under 60 some pages, with color photos from the period and now of the Famous Corvette and black and white Pictures, No Isbn no Index. Would be great to see the book published again and with The Corvette Miracle title,I am lucky to own it regardless. A Great story and Love Corvette Racing histories.
This is a great story from the glory days of American sports-car racing. The 1970 24 Hours of Daytona was filled with Hall of Fame drivers in iconic cars.
My only disappointment is the need for editing. There is a whole section of text repeated and there are too many typos for a professional publication.
While the story of how this rag-tag crew got the car from Kansas to Daytona was great and the best part of the story, it would be more complete If more details from the 1970 race were given. Too short for a good complete picture
Being a life long ‘car guy’ and a Corvette lover. What can I say? They street drove it 1600 miles, repaired the frozen 1st gear, and placed 2nd in America’s legendary Daytona. Then drove it 1600 mile back to Kansas. Beautiful. And it exists today.
What a terrific story of determination, tenacity, and simple dogged staying power. One of 20 ultra-performance Corvettes and the dedicated team that raced it. I loved this book!
A good book for any motorraccing or in my case Corvette officandos. A light read chronicling the 1970 Daytona 24 Hours, and the race to get there, from the eyes of one amatuer team. I enjoyed it!
