Laura Cowanin kirjoittama ja Diana Toledanon kuvittama "Kuukirja" (Karisto, 2020) tutustuttaa lapsilukijansa kuuhun. Kuvakirjamaisessa tietoteoksessa kerrotaan mm. erilaisista kuuhun liittyvistä myyteistä (Suomi mainittu!), kuun tutkimisesta ja totta kai myös Apollo 11 -lentoon huipentuneista avaruuslennoista (unohtamatta sitä, että ensimmäinen marsu kävi avaruudessa vuonna 1961).

Ihan mukava tietokirja vähän pienemmille lukijoille.

I was such a huge fan of books like this as a child, and I still get great pleasure in flipping through similar things as an adult. Sometimes when I open the bookshop on Sundays, I can't help but to pick one up and thumb through it. An extra-special bonus is that this is about THE MOON. I thought the illustrations and info graphics in this one were really special.

I loved the depiction of Katherine Johnson in Houston doing calculations for the moon landing (though she's not named), and I loved the "Gibbon/Gibbous" joke — something I'm absolutely sure I would have mixed up as a kid. I also loved the folkloric descriptions of how different people throughout the world and throughout time have thought about the moon and what it is and WHO it might be. This mixture of science/legend is really cool.

I also learned a few things about the space race + space landing! Apparently the first animals in space were fruit flies, already in the 1940s. And, apparently the first guys on the moon (Buzz Aldrin, Neil Armstrong, and Mike Collins) almost couldn't leave the moon due to a broken switch. Thankfully, Buzz had the idea to shove a pen in the socket and use it as the switch. Astronauts — they're just like us.

I can't wait until my nephews are at the ages when they can read these sorts of things. I hope they're interested in them like I was (am lol), because apparently I'm starting a collection for them.

*Mein Buch vom Mond*, ist mir sofort ins Auge gesprungen, denn mal im Ernst ist dieses Cover nicht ein absoluter Traum? Ich finde es einfach nur märchenhaft schön und dachte zu aller erst, dieses Bilderbuch wäre auch so etwas in der Art. Doch das war es überraschender Weise nicht, es ist ein wirklich sehr komplexes Sachbuch über den Mond und unsere Galaxie und unsere Erde. Jedoch ist es so traumhaft schön illustriert dann man dies super schnell vergießt. Es ist ein Buch zum Träumen und Entspannen, zum entdecken und erforschen und einfach zum liebhaben. Ganz lieben Gruß Sonja/Shaaniel

Delizioso modo di avvicinare i bimbi e anche gli adulti all'astronomia. Attraverso colorate immagini, accompagnate da brevi descrizioni, questo libro puo' divenire uno strumento di divulgazione anche ai piu' piccolini. E' un libro che puo' essere letto dal bimbo in autonomia oppure usato per la lettura ad alta voce. Le descrizioni sono corrette e danno spunto per approfondire le nozioni sulla Luna, in base all'eta', se usato insieme ad un adulto (anche gli insegnanti).
