Amber Green is back! The sequel to Rosie Nixon’s fun-filled debut follows Amber as she tries to see if she has what it takes to be a stylist in the fashion capital of the world: New York City.
She’ll take a bite out of the Big Apple’s fashion scene—if it doesn’t eat her alive first...
London stylist Amber Green has rebounded nicely since escaping the clutches of a Hollywood boss from hell. She’s got a dream job designing windows for Selfridge’s and her dream man in sweetly sexy boyfriend, Rob. In short, Amber loves her life and wouldn’t change a thing. But when Rob is hired to produce a reality series about the iconic Angel Wear lingerie fashion show, he breaks the news that he’s moving to New York…and invites Amber along on the adventure.
Ensconced in a Williamsburg sardine tin and in touch with a hotshot agent who advises she boost her social media presence, Amber hits Instagram hard, posting unintentional gossip fuel that culminates in pics of a mysterious new acquaintance who turns out to be a scandal unto himself. Between nightmarish gigs (baby photo shoots, anyone?) and styling a free-spirited starlet who seems allergic to clothing, Amber doesn’t know if she’s on the brink of a big break or a breakdown. That is, until a career-making opportunity falls into her lap—and with it, the truth about real friends vs. cheap knockoffs.
Rosie Nixon is Editor-in-Chief of HELLO! where she has worked for the past eight years and has a love of all things celebrity, royal and fashion-related. Rosie previously held senior positions at glossy women's magazines including Grazia, Glamour and Red. In her career she has been lucky enough to attend a multitude of glamorous award ceremonies, premieres and showbiz weddings all around the world. Ever discreet and protective of the big stars she has worked with, Rosie's experience has undoubtedly enabled her to write her debut novel, The Stylist and the sequel coming in 2017, Amber Green Takes Manhattan.
This is the second book about Amber Green, and yes I do feel like it could work as a stand alone. You meet Amber and her boyfriend Rob. They met in book 1 where Amber worked for this crazy stylist. And it's time for a new adventure.
Amber is fun, sweet and yes she can get a bit too invested in what she does. She just loves fashion so much. And it does seem like she would be fun to spend time with.
The story is about her going with Rob to Manhattan cos he got a job there for a few months, and who would say no to that! She also sees a chance to start working as a stylist again. And yes she really is the luckiest woman at times, things happen easy and by mistake. But this is a fun light book and things are meant to be like that.
Of course there is some drama with besties, romance and work. We all need a bit of drama to work harder.
I have missed some fun chic-litish short of book. It really is the perfect book for summer, and not to mention the beach.
I’m a HUGE sucker for British chick lit, and as soon as I read the description of this one I immediately was reminded of Becky Bloomwood, who in my opinion is like the funniest heroine of all time. Anyway, this one was similar in a lot of ways and was just a super fun and silly read. This is the second book in a series and I didn’t read the first one but I was totally fine, although I had so much fun with this one I’m wondering how the first book slipped under my radar? 🤔
Amber is the type of character who constantly finds herself in outrageous situations that always end up being highly entertaining. There is never a dull moment with her and there were many moments of slapstick style comedy and over the top hilarity that had me giggling. In between reading a few dark thrillers this was exactly the escape that I needed and besides Amber the supporting cast of characters were also fun and a nice balance to her wild escapades. Things were left open ended enough that I’m hoping there will be another book, I would love to read more about Amber and her adventures for sure!
The Stylist Takes Manhattan in three words: Cheeky, Glitzy and Sassy
Another great book starring Amber Green who seems to face one calamity after another yet these always seem to accidentally promote her role as stylist to the stars. It has plenty of laugh out loud moments - in my case, the sort that have me reading excerpts to my husband to show just why I’m laughing (and he usually joins in chuckling along, the moments are so hilarious!)
Amber’s boyfriend, Rob, has been offered a job in New York that will necessitate him leaving London to work there for three months filming lingerie models. He invites Amber to join him and their next adventurous escape begins! Get ready to read about their new home (tiny), the beefcake firemen working across the road who come to their rescue (hot), the models and stars, children and a disgraced designer ready to resume his career. It is a fun read, packed with glamour, high fashion and ‘stars’. It is a brilliant feel good read, with great characters and a plot filled with unanticipated twists and turns to keep you guessing and laughing!
I requested and was lucky enough to be gifted a copy of this novel via NetGalley; this is my honest opinion after choosing to read it. I thoroughly enjoyed escaping into this novel and have no hesitation in highly recommending both this and the previous novel about Amber Green - 'The Stylist'.
I didn't realise that this novel was a sequel when I requested it from Netgalley and having never read the first book in this series, I wasn't sure if AMBER GREEN TAKES MANHATTAN would work as a standalone but work it most certainly does.
Five months into her relationship with Rob and Amber is deliriously happy. She enjoys her job as a window specialist in Selfridges and everything seems to be going in the right direction. But when Rob gets a job opportunity in New York filming lingerie models, Amber fears that this will ruin everything for them, until Rob asks her to go with him. With a sabbatical from her job, Amber and Rob make their way to the Big Apple, where Amber still dreams of being a stylist with the wow factor, and with a knack for making friends easily, it seems like her dreams are about to come true. Being in New York even makes her closer to her loved-up best friend - could life be any more perfect? But as Amber throws herself into the fashion world and all it entails, is she sacrificing her relationship? And is everything as perfect as it seems for those she loves?
With hilarious escapades, witty dialogue, and characters that you will fall in love with, AMBER GREEN TAKES MANHATTAN by Rosie Nixon is everything you need in a contemporary romance and more. The fashion world comes alive in front of your eyes and you really will find yourself laughing out loud many times throughout this story. I had planned to read this book for an hour before bed but ended up devouring it in one sitting as I became engrossed in Amber's world. Addictive, enjoyable, and endearing, AMBER GREEN TAKES MANHATTAN by Rosie Nixon is a must-read for 2017, and I cannot wait for more from this author.
*I voluntarily reviewed this book from Netgalley.com
Cute chick lit with a little bit of a Devil Wears Prada vibe. There's no dragon lady boss, but this is the story of a British fashion stylist who spends a few whirlwind months in Manhattan with her director boyfriend.
Will her relationship survive their tiny apartment and her new obsession with Instagram?
I had no idea this was a sequel until I came on here to review, so if you haven't read the first book, no worries. But now I understand why everyone in the book kept talking about some person named Mona who was barely a part of the story.
I loved the British POV (and slang) and enjoyed the breezy feel and the self-deprecating narrator. I think that's one of the main differences between British chick lit and American - a) the characters drink way more and b)take themselves way less seriously and c) they're way more real and relatable, Brigid Jones style.
On the negative side, the plot was a little thin and as a result the book seemed a little long but all in all, this was a fun read.
Thanks to the publisher for providing an advance copy for review!
Light hearted, fun, a delightful sequel to The Stylist.
All the wonderful characters that I had grown to love in the first book were back, and then there was a whole new cast of characters too to learn.
Things are never quiet in Amber Green's world, and after she moves to Manhattan with boyfriend Rob, a few chance photos on instagram send her star soaring.
Add in a new client who has almost no need for a stylist, a fashion designer in need of a relaunch, plus celebrities, drunken behaviour and a fab contract, and you get a really enjoyable book.
Lots of antics making sure that Amber Green's life is anything but boring. I'm not completely sure if this works as a standalone, as from the first few pages I suddenly remembered enough about the first book to mean, I was fully engrossed in this one, a lot quicker than normal.
Absolutely love Rosie Nixon's writing style and I'm very curious as to what she will be releasing next, and if by some small hope its another Amber Green book then I will be delighted.
Thank you to Netgalley and HQ for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Ah, guys, "Amber Green Takes Manhattan" was probably one of my most anticipated books this summer. I've read and adored "The Stylist" last year and really, I couldn't be more excited for the sequel. After my review copy arrived I've immediately fell in love with the cover - it's fabulous, with those lovely embossed letters and gorgeous colours (personally I think it is much, much nicer that the cover of the first book, but it's just me, you know I am a sucker for such fairy - tale covers). But it was not only the cover that made me love this book so much - it was simply the brilliant story of Amber Green literally taking Manhattan! This book has it all, there was a lot of laugh, embarrassing moments, jumping to conclusions, some little drama and a happy end - just what the doctor ordered!
In this second part of Amber Green's adventures in the big world, Amber and her boyfriend Rob travel to New York, where Rob's new job is working on a documentary for a world - famous lingerie brand - think something like Victoria's Secret here - and Amber... well, Amber is tagging along, she doesn't want to let Rob travel alone as they're together only for a short while, but she also has great dreams and hopes to make her name in the styling world. And knowing Amber, you can be sure she's going to go high, with her ability to befriend the right people and to find herself in the most hilarious, unbelievable situations ever and yes, she soon manages to get her first job with a has been/to be child star. But taking Manhattan also means social media, and Amber's start to take over her life - is the fresh relationship with Rob going to survive? How much damage is Amber going to produce with accidentally snapped photos? And finally, is Amber REALLY able to conquest New York?
Amber reminded me so much of the one and only Becky from the Shopaholic series - she's exactly as absent - minded and she has the ability to find herself in embarrassing situations that more than often she herself creates, mostly unintentionally. She's very accident - prone but also she has a heart in the right place and I think it is impossible not to like Amber. OK, yes, she annoyed me, as well as Rob, with her obsession with her Instagram account and collecting followers, but well, Rob also sometimes annoyed me, taking out his frustration on the poor Amber. Sometimes is bothered me that Amber was forgetting about the whole world and focused on her career only but on the other hand I could understand her, she was in a new place and she wanted to prove herself she can do it.
The story abounds in some hilarious situations and even though there were moments they felt a little too far - fetched I still bought them, just as they were described, and they made me smile or cringe in disbelief. If the fashion world really looks like Rosie Nixon describes it then it's better that I am an absolute outsider to it, guys - and Ms Nixon brilliantly and spot - on captured the world of the models, designers and red carpets, with all the dramas, "bags dropping", jealousy and night life. Even though it is not so much my kind of world I totally adored to read about it.
Truly, guys, I knew after reading "The Stylist" that the second book is also going to be pretty damn good, and it was! Let me tell you, it was this little bit better than the previous one - the writing style was so much more distinctive and bolder, the characters were strong, with their own personalities and voices, and the intrigue was not only clever but it also had a brilliant ending! There came a moment that I had my own "eureka" moment and I tied the facts and guessed who and why but it didn't spoil the read for me, not at all. I liked that the author has made Amber life not so easy, and that she had to solve some problems, both in her private and professional life. I also liked that every situation was well - rounded with the gorgeous and sharp Rosie Nixon's humour - it made the book's reception lighter. She also hasn't forgotten the star of the previous book - the mini pig Pinky, and guys, Amber's tactic of looking for a babysitter for him while she and Rob were in New York was hilarious - especially the outcome, no, Nora? Really, there were so many situations that made me laugh out loud that it's impossible to tell you about all of them but believe me, you're going to smile, to laugh, to cringe with embarrassment when reading this story - and I like it so much when a novel invokes so many emotions in me, because it means that it's brilliantly written.
This book is so fast - paced and there is all the time something happening, but you don't have the feeling that it's too pace-y, that it's too forced or overwhelming. There are enough twists and turns and damp down emergencies involving dressing a celebrity for Coachella (or rather, un - dressing!) and A - listers or other babies, and I truly raced through this story wanting more, and more, and more. All the characters were so great and so easily brought to life by the author. You know, I am really impressed with the way Rosie Nixon has with words, it all flows so effortlessly and seamlessly and it's just a great joy to read. The characters are not flawless, they make mistake but they pay for them and get a chance to rehabilitate themselves, which is great.
"Amber Green Takes Manhattan" was a hilarious, fast - paced rollercoaster ride in Manhattan, full of laugh, small dramas and celebrities. It was relaxing, it was funny, but what's more important, it was not only about glitz and glamour. It was again about following your dream, about not feeling dispirited, about believing in yourself and your talents. Highly recommended for a holiday or for a lovely summer evening in the garden - I personally loved it!
Copy provided by the publisher in return for an honest review.
A fabulous follow up to The Stylist. It was great to follow Amber on her journey taking on Manhattan and seeing what she got up to and how successful she can become. We also see her take her relationship with her boyfriend to the next level.
This book is fun and so easy to read. I read this so quick it was so enjoyable.
I am quite a fan of chick lits and rom-coms that has witty female leads and honest laugh riots. So when I first read the plot of The Stylist takes Manhattan, I knew I would love Amber Green! She's proactive, quick-witted, intelligent and really good at what she does - Styling!!!! Isn't that a dreamy job to have? Well, in real life, it's not very fancy as a life of a stylist would take so much effort and time to fulfill the various, endless demands to meet the 'Hollywood standards'. One blip, and you're ruined. Forever stained. That's basically describing Amber Green herself.
A five month relationship with Rob, the famous and attractive AD producer Amber is happy and content with her job as a window designer at Selfridges, London. All is well until one day Rob gets a job in New York to produce a lingerie Ad and he wants them to move to the States to film it. Amber takes a sabbatical at work and sets off to Manhattan with a few contacts that could get her a job in NY. Especially her BFF is just 6 hours flight away from her.
New York does treat her nice with a new job that she's starting to love, a new place to live (too tiny but right in the middle of city!) and a fire station opposite home (too-hot-to-handle fire fighters!!) and her rapidly increasing followers on newly opened Instagram Handle!! So what could possibly go wrong when things are this perfect? You'll have to wait and watch for some laugh out loud moments!
I didn't know this book had a prequel when I requested a copy from the publisher. I totally devoured Amber Green. She's so like the author Rosie Nixon herself. If you're not following her on Social media, you probably should. Her stories are hilarious, witty and extremely entertaining just like her books!! Set in New York, you get to teleport yourself to the city's best features, skyscrapers, monuments and the fashion world of Hollywood full of glam and style! It's pretty thin book but I kept it on my side table for so long, not wanting to finish it faster. Totally loved reading this book, and I expect a sequel to Amber's stories guessing by the way things are left. I think this is a GREAT news for all those who follow Rosie's books (includes me of course!) and I'm definitely reading what she writes next!
HIghly recommended for ladies who love a contemporary romance, filled with glam and laugh out loud scenes and stunning locales to escape the present. Many, many thanks to the publishing for sending me the paperback. All opinions are mine and no way biased.
This book is great if you need a light summer book or maybe a cute romance between heavy reads. Do not expect any amazing plot twist or fascinating events happening throw-out the story. It is basically a cute story to read and relax by the pool.
Amber Green lives in London, works as a designer and her handsome boyfriend Rob is in love with her. When his company sends him to New York for a job, he accepts and invites Amy to come with. He says it would be an adventure. So, she decides to take a three-month sabbatical from her work in London and spend the next months in one of the most fashion cities in the world.
It is a dream come true. Or not. From day one, Amy realizes things are not as glamorous as she thought they would be. Tiny expensive apartment, her boyfriend photo shooting gorgeous models all day for work, and apparently, being a stylist in NY is not easy. So, she decides to follow an advice that someone gave her: upping her online presence. She starts a style Instagram, takes photos of her “glamorous” life and uses as many hashtags as she can.
One day, hunting for clothes for a potential client, she posts a fun photo with a guy that was been crossing her path and suddenly, the likes and comments are astronomical: “Is this THE Maurice Chan, the famous stylist that vanished years ago?” Amber had no idea she’s been talking to such a famous person. That could be her big chance. The problem is, Maurice had a terrible past that made him give up his fashion career. But would she let his gruesome past cut off her big break?
Meanwhile, Amy has to deal with her heartbroken best friend that came to visit, deal with some crazy clients she’s been trying to work with and also figure out what to do with Maurice Chan.
The book is a modern version of Sophie Kinsella’s Shopaholic series, with lots of Instagram and hashtags references. It is a good chick lit if you enjoy this kind of book.
Thank you William Morrow and Edelweiss+ for a copy of The Stylist Takes Manhattan by Rosie Nixon for review. Available September 2, 2019 this is a fun continuation of Amber Green's story.
The Stylist Takes Manhattan follows pretty closely on the heels of the end of The Stylist. Amber and her boyfriend move to Manhattan for his work and she tries to build a reputation for herself and keep busy while she is there. This book is a pretty fun read. Amber is a young woman navigating a new place and social media and her relationship. My only problem with the story is more because of my age rather than the main characters age. Amber drinks more than I thought was necessary in the story and had the tendency to go out and party before a big deadline or event and then make a mistake afterward which she then had to fix. Now, as I say, this may be my mom side coming out. I'm sure I did that more than I would like when I was Amber's age as well so that was probably where my annoyance was coming from rather than a fault of the writing. It was just something that personally didn't sit well with me after I had finished. I do like Amber as a character, I do like these books, I just wish that drunken hijinks were less relied upon as a story arc for characters in this age range.
A breezy, cheeky (it's British, after all) novel you can read in an evening or so.
Amber Green is a twenty-eight year old fashion stylist creating the window displays at London's Selfridge's Department Store. She's in a happy relationship with hunky Rob, a TV producer. Rob gets the opportunity to spend three months in New York filming a TV special that follows the backstory of what sounds quite a lot like the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show (coincidentally canceled this year), and asks Amber to accompany him. Of course, she accepts.
The two fly off to the Big Apple, find a shoebox-size apartment to sublet in Williamsburg (Brooklyn), and set up housekeeping...and that's when Amber's saga of misadventures truly begins.
Without revealing the details, Amber finds legal (she doesn't have a green card) work, meets crazy, kooky starlets, a disgraced fashion designer, and many others. She gets in a lot of trouble but finds her way out.
It's fun to read about her exploits, her subway and taxi expeditions, and travails with Rob and others. Does everything work out in the end? Of course it does, but that's beside the point - it's the getting there that's so entertaining.
This book was ok. I was psyched after reading The Stylist to find out that a sequel was to follow but to me the sequel fell flat. There was a cute story line but nothing to the extent of the Mona ordeal in book one. Could this be a stand alone book? Absolutely - so don't let the fact that there's another Stylist deter you from reading this one.
Some issues with this book in my eyes - there's so many loose ends. For starters, once Amber and Rob saw Poppy in London and she decided to take the pig - then REsaw her in NYC at a party - what ever happened to the pig? The pig is supposed to be Rob and amber's pride and joy and yet the detail got run amock.
Poppy is supposed to be this fashionista yet is buying knock off handbags? Whatever happened after she got her bag from Amber and The Bag Lady? That storyline was mediocre at best in my mind.
Then this whole ordeal with Vicki and Rob and the apartment. At first I could understand that having a bf and a best friend live together under the same roof could get tiresome and so those feelings and tensions were validated in my mind. But throwing her out on the street? Then Vicki coming back and almost ruining Amber's job by sneaking into Angel Wear? Any employer would FIRE Amber and replace her as a stylist immediately. Although Vicki and Noah did save the day I was irritated by this whole ordeal.
Then Amber's online prescence SKY ROCKETED because of her accidental meeting with Maurice Chan. As a famous fashion designer, I don't think he could have go out in public without a papparzzi photographing him or just walking to the gallery on a weekly basis without gaining or garnering some attention. Then on instagram if you are not a public figure it can be difficult to gather followers. Granted some of her hashtags may have made this overnight sensation pop up I doubt she would have made such an impact - but that is only speculative and from my own personal experience.
Lastly, how was she able to get all of these jobs so fast. Granted she did have some connections post the Mona Armstrong situation in book 1 but to come over from England and instantly land something? I found that a little difficult to believe also. It takes months for some jobs to get background checked and verified especially working with major celebrities.
All and all this story was very cute and a quick, fun, easy summer read but I wouldn't go out of my way to read it again. I have more questions than I
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This was a another fun story in the Amber Green series. I loved the first one, 'The Stylist', and this one just continued on the mad adventure that is Amber's life!
This time Amber and Rob, her boyfriend, are in New York for Rob's new job working on a documentary for a big lingerie brand, Angel Wear. As Amber and Rob have only been together a fairly short while she decides to go to New York with him as they didn't want time apart when their relationship was still so new. Amber didn't have a job initially, as she had taken a sabbatical from her job, but soon managed to fall in with certain well known celebrities, as she always seems to do, and starts off styling a has-been/newly resurrected wild child star and things just go from there.
Unfortunately Amber's social media sites start taking over her life and Rob starts getting very put out about it, understandably as she is checking her 'followers' every 10 seconds, which causes a lot of hassle in their relationship. Amber's best friend (who has just left her big actor boyfriend) arrives to crash on their sofa and causes more trouble. She was a bit of a nuisance and very thoughtless at times to be honest, and I would have thrown her out of the apartment a lot sooner, but they sort their differences out eventually and Vicky did come up trumps in the end, so all is forgiven!
Of course Amber does well in the end, fabulous catwalk show at the end - although not without a few hiccups along the way to keep things interesting! A really enjoyable, fun book, full of fashion and celebrity lifestyles.
3.75* It’s really discombobulating to read a novel that involves taking a flight to New York City… those were the days (writing this in early Spring 2021 when Covid is still raging).
Amber works as a stylist at well known department store in London and her job is so much more than dressing the large seasonal windows. Really it is!
Boyfriend Rob has a contract to work with “Angel Wear”, would that be the equivalent of Victoria’s Secret, I wondered? Anyway, he decides he would love for Amber to go along and that is indeed what she does.
She has high hopes of living in a wonderful flat like Carrie Bradshaw (of SATC fame) but their love nest is a sardine tin in Williamsburg – it’s called ‘compact’. Spacious apartments are not for the likes of two Brits who are in the city for just a short time – and certainly not a tall, elegant brownstone in the heart of old-money Manhattan on the Upper East Side!
Amber soon dives into the stylist world of New York, she encounters new and amazing characters in both her private and work worlds, and gets to trawl through an amazing cache of vintage clothes. There are one or two cameo appearances of people who will be familiar because they are f-a-m-o-u-s and there is, of course drama and adventure and a twist. There is humour, there are some silly plot lines and New York gets a good look-in as Amber makes her way around the city. Fluffy and bubbly.
Amber Green takes Manhattan is a funny chiclit/ contemporary romance read with never a dull moment. I haven't read the stylist but as this is book two in the series you can definately read this as a standalone, I didn't feel like I'd missed anything major to interfere with this storyline. Rob is Ambers boyfriend and has been offered the chance of a lifetime, move to America for 3 months and direct a new show and Amber gas the opportunity to go to. Whilst there Amber realises she's not so big in the world of fashion as she is back home and takes advice to make her social media image huge which to the hilarity of us readers she manages to do by accident almost overnight! Amber and Rob live together for the first time in a very small apartment and you follow their ups and downs as they adjust to living together and having noisy neighbours. Ambers Instagram obsession takes over her life completely and you'll have to read if that's more important than real life people. This was a funny read and had some great characters in it making this enjoyable and fairly fast paced as there was something going on virtually on every page. I would like to thank netgalley and HQ Harper Collins ltd for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.
Thoroughly enjoyed this break from crime fiction with a lighthearted read about the trials of British stylist Amber Green as she moves to New York with her boyfriend, cameraman Rob. Mostly consisting of Amber getting herself into (and eventually out of) various fashion-related scrapes, it makes for a fun fast read that's perfect for any holidays you have planned - or just for a lighter summer read. Rosie Nixon is adept at creating a perfect mix of fashion and chick-lit, and this is guaranteed to please any fans of both (or either!) I'm surprised at how much I enjoyed it...maybe I should lighten up more often, eh? Full review at https://crimeworm.wordpress.com/2017/...
Amber Green takes Manhattan is a cross between Sex and the City and The Devil wears Prada with a great and humorous storyline that I thoroughly enjoyed.
It follows the adventures of Amber Green and her boyfriend Rob who take a three month trip to New York to pursue Robs career but end up boosting Ambers career too through a series of mishaps and unexpected successes that sometimes had me laughing out loud. The writing flows easily and the characters come to life in a likeable flurry of personality, you really end up rooting for Amber.
From the first couple of pages I was hooked and I would love to read a sequel to see what else the world has in store for Amber
A novel for those who love, and know their high end fashion. There are allusions to names and brands that you really need to read your Style pages regularly for his novel to make sense. And Selfridges is mentioned too!
Amber follows her boyfriend to New York when his job takes him there and sets herself up as a stylist to the stars and others. This novel is the second in a series but you don’t need to have the read the first, as for me at any rate, it stood alone.
I had absolutely loved The Stylist, and so when I saw this one out, I pounced on it. Sadly, I couldn't find the same magic I discovered in the first book. I couldn't even find Amber likeable in this episode, making me wonder what I had actually loved about the first book ... The serendipity of how it all happened in Book1 just felt right, whereas here, it felt forced and thrust upon - I mean, how much luck can someone really have, especially in such a cutthroat world? This one was a miss for me, unfortunately.
This is the 2nd book, of hopefully some more to come?? And I suggest you read the first to know the background of the players in this book.
Amber Green, I feel needs to get more of a backbone when it come to her relationships Not only that, I wanted to yell at the book, Amber get your priorities straight! Rob, and her job comes before drinks and all nighters. And Vicki is just a drag in this book. How old are they supposed to be? You would think they are still in college.
Otherwise, this was a good enough sequel to the first.
I received a copy of this in exchange for a review.
When I started reading, I discovered that this is a sequel, but I don't think I missed anything major from not having read the first.
It was a simple and fast read. There isn't a ton of substance, but if you aren't looking for that, this is fine. A woman moves from the UK to NYC with her boyfriend. She tries to become a stylist. Typical relationship and career challenges ensue.
I DNF'd this book...I thought it was so boring unfortunately. The first quarter (what I read) was all about the Glitz and the Glam of working in fashion. The only story there really was, was Amber and her boyfriend moving to New York, for his job. There has to be more story for me to enjoy it...1 Star, and that's being generous...
I loved The Stylist so was delighted when there was a follow up of more about Amber. Amber Green Takes Manhattan is good fun to read .I loved dipping into the fashion world again and all it's madness. Amber is delightful and crazy and it is so enjoyable to read about what she gets up to .Glad there was a happy ending .
