really interesting. i wouldnt live my live based on numerology, but there are truths to be found in it. we can find truth anywhere and everywhere if we look for it with an open mind.
This was a very interesting take on the numerology systems' levels of difference from Eastern to Western with Vedic as the theme. I did enjoy playing around with calculations and incorporating metals, gems, and more clarity from the meaning of numbers and placements within this book. I try to actually give all models a try to see what I can learn from the toolbox given. This one was intriguing when comparing your western numbers. It seemed to reveal a gap that is missing from western numerology...
That gap, for me, was in fact believing that other systems could be wrong. I had a limiting belief, and I feel I shed a new skin as I try more variations and integrate them with my living. It's a beautiful thing to change perspective and use everything we learn as building blocks of us. It's a fun book to mess with numbers with family and friends, too.
A few years ago, I used to read using this book as a tool. It helped people look at things...I feel...
So it deserves 5 stars! I won't stop using it as a milestone post.
This was pretty interesting. Regarding my psychic number:
"They are easily satisfied, which makes them work less and gives them more time to dwell in the world of imagination. This makes them less practical." Well damn if that ain't true!
"The number 2 is ruled by the Moon, which gives its natives tenderness, artistic inclinations, and a romantic nature. They are peaceful and gentle. Their imaginative nature makes them inventive, but they lack determination and cannot execute their ideas." Hmm. Okay well... yeah.
"Although they accept their mistakes easily and feel regret, they never change their behaviour nor ever improve. They commit the same mistakes again and again, and suffer. They do not much like logic and criticism."
I read this book in 1997, when the internet was in its infancy. If one was interested in something, one visited a library. There weren't many libraries in my city & I was as yet only a teenager. Luckily, a relative indulged my curiosity and bought me this book.
As far as books in this category go, this one is fairly well-written. Many others I read later, appeared to be either poor translations from Indian languages or steeped in religious messaging. This one does have some Hinduism references but it doesn't go too deeply into religion. It's a fairly good starting point to understand the role of numbers in astrology.
Great book however, if you have a very active mind, this book can kind of make you go insane. After reading this book. Every number I saw, I tried to tie it to something every double digit triple digit number I tried to add to get to a single number in order to read it, be careful when reading this book. It’s amazing. It takes mental strength.
Keeping this book for my library. This is not an easy to read but if you already have the basics of numerology, this is a great add on. It talks about the good years, the bad years, health, relationships, etc., related to your number. Would definitely recommend for those who are serious about the study of numerology.
Borrowed this one from the library and plan to add it to my wishlist. Highly informative and I found the information about my numbers to be frighteningly spot on.
According to my teacher John Marchand, one of Johari's students, this books has been written to Indian culture, not the West. Don't take things literally. The Gemstone book is more hulpfull as guide.
