When a new book in this series pops up, there are a couple of things you can safely assume. First, Eisler will deliver a wild ride full of action, suspense & characters you’ll love to hate. Second, Livia Lone is still a kickass. She survived being trafficked as a young girl but her sister didn’t. Now a detective with the Seattle PD Sex Crimes unit, she’s on a mission to make predators pay. Dearly.
B. D. Little is an investigator with Homeland Security & knows the pain that comes with a missing child. Ten years ago his daughter disappeared. Using his formidable resources, he searched endlessly but all he found were similar cases. Then they stopped. Now a young girl has disappeared under familiar circumstances. It may be B.D.’s last chance to find the perpetrator & get answers. And he knows who to call for help……an old acquaintance who's just as obsessive about getting justice for these kids.
Livia is still dealing with the fallout from her last little adventure (The Killer Collective) & trying to keep her head down at work. But B.D.’s story strikes a chord & Livia would love nothing more than to catch those responsible. She sees a couple of immediate problems. For some reason B.D.’s boss is blocking the investigation & he’s sure he’s being watched. And while she understands the need for answers, Livia is worried B.D. is too emotionally involved. Desperate men make mistakes & she really can’t afford to attract any more attention.
Right from the start there’s an interesting dynamic as the 2 MC’s have history. They’ve worked together before although it’s always been an uneasy alliance at best. B.D. has helped Livia in the past but he’a also manipulated her for his own gain. With so much at stake, she has to wonder if he’s willing to throw her to the wolves to find his daughter.
In alternate chapters, we meet those wolves & and when it comes to creep factor, they’re off the charts. Not only do we hear their horrifying plans but also realize just what Livia & B.D. are up against.
Holy Cats, find a comfie reading spot because you won’t be moving for a few hours. It’s a fast paced thriller with plenty of action & forks in the road. The MC’s provide the heart & soul that will have you cheering them on while you hiss at at a slew of bad guys (pro tip: if your nickname is “Snake” you’re probably not known for your cuddly side. Just sayin’). The author does a a great job of providing enough info to make us cringe without resorting to graphic details. And if you think all the cool tech toys are science fiction, peruse the notes & links provided at the end. Downright scary.
Livia is a complex & charismatic woman. Intelligent & highly skilled, she continues to battle the emotional scars from her past. Her character has been slowly evolving over the course of the series & she’s taking baby steps toward normal relationships. Enough background is given for this to be read as a stand-alone but as with all series, you’ll get more from it if you’ve read previous books. Kudos to those responsible for the cover art. I think even Snake would agree it's gorgeous.

Actually, I don't much to add that I haven't mentioned in my Status Updates below. My only caveat is that at times Eisler's writing became a bit padded-out with repetition and a bit too much introspection on behalf of several of the main protags. This became intrusive, but fortunately the action-writing and the overall story saved the day for me.
Please note my endorsement of Barry Eisler's narration of his own audiobook. IYKYK, this is not an approbation I give lightly! This book well deserves its rating of 4.0-Stars😃!

Book 4 of Eisler’s Livia Lone series finds the Seattle PD sex-crimes detective searching for a gruesome pair of rapists. Livia has been approached by Homeland Security Investigations agent B.D. Little whose daughter mysteriously vanished ten years ago. Little has been obsessed with finding out what happened to his daughter ever since and he now thinks he’s stumbled across a pattern of disappearances that might just throw some light on his daughter’s fate. But he needs Livia’s help.
Livia however is under the microscope at work: her Chief of Police has suspicions concerning previous activity she’s been involved in, during which a number of unidentified man were killed, and she’s made it clear that she’s not happy about the lack of clarity Livia has provided concerning her involvement in these deaths. Time to fly under the radar for a while. Except Livia becomes drawn into Little’s story and agrees to help him. But events quickly escalate and soon she’s neck deep in trouble but also convinced that there’s some merit in Little’s theory. How can she possibly square the circle on this unholy mess?
In previous episodes we’ve learned how Livia was sold to traffickers by her Thai parents along with her younger sister, Nason. Finding themselves stranded in America, having been physically and mentally abused along the way by who took them away from their homeland, the sisters became separated. What happened from this point shaped Livia into the determined, vengeful person she now is. Her job offers her the perfect way of hunting down the type of people who prey on young women, but sometimes the sentences handed down by the judiciary just aren’t sufficient to satisfy her desire to see these people properly punished. So Livia goes off the books too, meting out her own form of retribution.
Eisler has created a link with the John Rain books that preceded the Livia Lone series and from time to time characters I’ve met before turn up. This works well, I think, as it feels like something of a continuation of the Rain books, except that Livia is a very different person who does thing in her own way. In essence, it’s allowed fans of Rain (like me) to continue to enjoy the pace and excitement of Eisler’s earlier work but with an extended cast and with the lens pointed in a slightly different direction. In Livia, the author has created a complex but believable character who displays a mix of compassion and ruthlessness. I cant wait to read her next adventure.
These books are superbly researched and – as in the notes appended to my copy of this book – Eisler often provides links and additional information to support the authenticity of place settings, featured technology and combat techniques included in his text. I believe that it’s his focus on these elements of detail that set him aside from other writers in this genre.

All the Devils is the fourth book in the Livia Lone series about a Seattle Detective with an unusual past, which is now firmly on my favourites list.
While you could read this as a stand-alone, I strongly recommend starting at the beginning for the full impact, not only of Livia’s history and evolving character arc, but also for all the cameos to make sense. This one is probably the best yet!
Set a few weeks after The Killer Collective, Livia is back at work and trying to keep a low profile to appease Chief Best, who is (rightly) suspicious of her, so the last thing she needs is renegade Homeland Security Investigator BD Little asking for her help on another covert mission. Obsessed by the disappearance of his teenage daughter ten years earlier, he has been tracking similar cases and realises that after a seven year gap, they have started up again. We learn that the killers are two former Special Forces soldiers, one an ex-convict called Snake, and Boomer, now a congressman, and the son of the Vice-President who will do anything to cover up his son’s “indiscretions”. How will Livia stop these evil predators with all the forces ranged against her? With a little help from her friends...
This was another fast paced violent, but not gratuitous, action thriller, from an author whose background as a CIA spy and meticulous research - evidenced by the references and links in the afterword - guarantee a scarily compulsive read. I adore bad-ass female heroines, and Livia’s background as the victim of child sex trafficking from Thailand makes her a fascinating protagonist. The fight scenes are superbly described but so is her deductive reasoning as she pieces together the clues to identify and go after the devils. The ending was brilliant with the reappearance of one of my favourite Eisler characters. Hopefully this is not the end of Livia’s adventures though!
I’ve read all four of the series plus a novella within a couple of months and definitely plan to read the Rain series too. For fellow fans looking for similar series, I highly recommend the Huntress series by Alexandra Sokoloff which has similar themes and an equally intriguing heroine.

Justice was her vehicle, but hate was the fuel it ran on.
Well, drat. That was over WAY too soon! And I'm up past my bedtime—I've been absolutely unable to do anything else ever since I hit the 70% mark.
Could. Not. Put. This. Book. Down.
Even brought me to tears at the end.
I'm officially calling it: Livia Lone is the new Lisbeth Salander (+ a splash of Dexter), and she is AEONS better than the last installment(s) of the Millennium Series by David Lagercrantz.
Livia wasn’t remotely naïve enough to believe powerful men were incapable of such crimes. If anything, she believed they were especially disposed to them.
Barry Eisler has hit a home run with the Livia Lone series and I'm so bummed that this *might* (?!) be the last one ... at least I haven't seen anything online about a possible book 5. One can always hope.
This book stretches the plausibility meter at times, but what good book doesn't? It was still an exceptional page turner, and my only minor hang up is that I wanted more Dox! At least he was in it a little.

Livia is so bad ass! If I can be just a fraction as tough as her, I’m good. She is a superhero trying to right wrongs no matter the cost. Honestly maybe this deserves a 4 and 1/2 star rating. I love the action and the characters. And the bad guys always pay in the end! Perfect.

A hard hitting, fast action, suspense thriller. The main character is not a woman you want to mess with, she is strong, trained and intelligent. When she is thrown into a situation that does not have a backdoor clause her only way out is to go straight through the middle. Unfortunately, the pieces on the opposite side of the chess board are all Kings and Knights. Good story, great characters and a suspenseful buddy read with my reading partner Mary Beth.

3.75 stars, rounded up. Homeland Security agent B.D. Little manipulates Seattle detective Livia Lone to help his many year investigation into his daughter’s mysterious disappearance by tying it to many others via VICAP. Meanwhile, Congressman Bradley Kane III (Boomer) is running for reelection when his BFF from Special Forces (Snake) is released from Leavenworth. Snake decides to help Boomer permanently resolve high school rape allegations, and continue the fun they shared while serving in Iraq. Boomer’s father is Vice-President and wants these problems to simply disappear, using his substantial powers. Because of her own family history, Livia is a determined force of nature and won't stop despite the odds against her, external and within the Seattle PD. High octane thriller, but there is substantial references to things that happened in the past so don't read this one first.

This is my favourite series at the moment; it's a crime/mystery/action series with a super kick-ass heroine!
I would recommend starting at the beginning with Livia Lone as you do need background to get all the feels - it's harrowing but brilliant.

I think that this book has been the best in the series yet. It was fast, action-packed, thrilling and fun read. It was highly engaging and I finished the entire book in a single sitting.
This book was more of a thriller than a mystery, and still it was intriguing enough to keep me on the edge of my seat. The book is exceptionally written and highly enjoyable. It was interesting, real and thrilling.
What I really liked about this book, specifically this book in the series, was Livia Lone. Livia was at her best in this book. While the earlier installments in this series read more like report, this book had more feeling. Livia was portrayed as more human and.... more than a broken woman full of anger and hate. She has grown as a character, and I enjoyed the book far more because of her.
I usually don't enjoy multiple points of view, especially those of the bad guys. But in this book, Barry Eisler makes it work. They gave me another perspective and went well with the flow of the story.
In conclusion, I would recommend this book to all those who enjoy crime shows and books.

Livia Lone returns in All the Devils for her fourth grueling investigation, and third series-proper novel, after The Killer Collective saw her joining forces with Barry Eisler’s other series character, John Rain. And it just might be her biggest and most challenging case to date after Homeland Security agent B.D. Little finds new information surrounding his daughter’s disappearance that compels Livia to investigate.
Congressman Bradley “Boomer” Kane III is up for reelection when Snake, his old buddy from their Special Forces days, makes his way out of Leavenworth. The two reunite so that Snake can help Boomer deal with some pesky rape allegations being made by Kane’s old high school classmates, and reignite the bonds they forged in Iraq. Both men are serial rapists and the seven women they’ve disappeared all share a common signature, a fact that draws Livia into their orbit while hunting for Little’s missing daughter. Complicating things even further is Kane’s father, the vice-president of the United States, who is seeking to protect his own political career while saving Boomer from himself, by any means necessary.
Eisler, as usual, does a terrific job establishing credible and multifaceted threats and situations brimming with tension. It makes All the Devils a high-strung, pressure cooker read, one that grows increasingly tense the more Livia is backed into a corner. And fans of this series will know damn well that Livia is not the type of woman you want to back into a corner. She’s as complex, fierce, determined, and motivated as ever here, not to mention tough as hell. In addition to facing increasing scrutiny from the Seattle PD’s top brass over some unanswered questions from her involvement in The Killer Collective, Livia is forced to contend with an array of threats from a number of different directions, each seeking to take her down in their own various ways, either politically or through direct use of force. Thanks to her history and psychological make-up, there are times, too, where Livia may be her own greatest adversary.
All this makes for a complex and very timely story given the recent Jeffrey Epstein news and the #MeToo movement (interestingly, Livia was first introduced in 2016, nearly a full year before the hashtag’s popularity grew into a global phenomenon to speak out against and raise awareness of the prevalence of rape and sexual harassment and assault), but Eisler has a knack for delivering the plot in a straight-forward, easy to follow way. There’s a good amount of moving pieces here, and a good number of thriller layers, but it’s never overly complicated. All the Devils, though, does rely pretty heavily on being familiar with Livia’s past exploits, particularly Eisler’s series crossover novel The Killer Collective. Eisler brings readers up to speed capably, explaining the backstory for new readers, but you’ll have an easier time with it all if you’re at least familiar with his last release from earlier this year. All the Devils also closes the loop on several story threads introduced over the course of the last two Livia Lone novels, Livia Lone and The Night Trade.
Emotionally, Livia’s a tough nut to crack, and for good reason. The author’s exploration of her as both a killer, a cop, and a brutally damaged survivor is ridiculously compelling stuff. Eisler does a wonderful job exploring the human condition of this fractured soul and her attempts at not only making peace with herself, but with her attempts to heal and find her place in the world as something other than a revenge-driven killer. There’s a purpose to her mission, and even as she leaves a trail of bodies in her wake, it’s honestly touching to see her realize she’s not alone. She’s a vital heroine, particularly given the times we live in and, frankly, I wish there were more like her out there.
All the Devils offers up plenty of closure for fans who have stuck with this trilogy, and opens up some possible new avenues for Eisler to explore in future novels, should we be lucky enough to encounter Livia again. There’s still plenty more devils out there for Livia to contend with in her own special ways, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed this is not the last time we see her.

Livia Lone returns in All the Devils for her fourth grueling investigation, and third series-proper novel, after The Killer Collective saw her joining forces with Barry Eisler’s other series character, John Rain. And it just might be her biggest and most challenging case to date after Homeland Security agent B.D. Little finds new information surrounding his daughter’s disappearance that compels Livia to investigate.
Congressman Bradley “Boomer” Kane III is up for reelection when Snake, his old buddy from their Special Forces days, makes his way out of Leavenworth. The two reunite so that Snake can help Boomer deal with some pesky rape allegations being made by Kane’s old high school classmates, and reignite the bonds they forged in Iraq. Both men are serial rapists and the seven women they’ve disappeared all share a common signature, a fact that draws Livia into their orbit while hunting for Little’s missing daughter. Complicating things even further is Kane’s father, the vice-president of the United States, who is seeking to protect his own political career while saving Boomer from himself, by any means necessary.
Eisler, as usual, does a terrific job establishing credible and multifaceted threats and situations brimming with tension. It makes All the Devils a high-strung, pressure cooker read, one that grows increasingly tense the more Livia is backed into a corner. And fans of this series will know damn well that Livia is not the type of woman you want to back into a corner. She’s as complex, fierce, determined, and motivated as ever here, not to mention tough as hell. In addition to facing increasing scrutiny from the Seattle PD’s top brass over some unanswered questions from her involvement in The Killer Collective, Livia is forced to contend with an array of threats from a number of different directions, each seeking to take her down in their own various ways, either politically or through direct use of force. Thanks to her history and psychological make-up, there are times, too, where Livia may be her own greatest adversary.
All this makes for a complex and very timely story given the recent Jeffrey Epstein news and the #MeToo movement (interestingly, Livia was first introduced in 2016, nearly a full year before the hashtag’s popularity grew into a global phenomenon to speak out against and raise awareness of the prevalence of rape and sexual harassment and assault), but Eisler has a knack for delivering the plot in a straight-forward, easy to follow way. There’s a good amount of moving pieces here, and a good number of thriller layers, but it’s never overly complicated. All the Devils, though, does rely pretty heavily on being familiar with Livia’s past exploits, particularly Eisler’s series crossover novel The Killer Collective. Eisler brings readers up to speed capably, explaining the backstory for new readers, but you’ll have an easier time with it all if you’re at least familiar with his last release from earlier this year. All the Devils also closes the loop on several story threads introduced over the course of the last two Livia Lone novels, Livia Lone and The Night Trade.
Emotionally, Livia’s a tough nut to crack, and for good reason. The author’s exploration of her as both a killer, a cop, and a brutally damaged survivor is ridiculously compelling stuff. Eisler does a wonderful job exploring the human condition of this fractured soul and her attempts at not only making peace with herself, but with her attempts to heal and find her place in the world as something other than a revenge-driven killer. There’s a purpose to her mission, and even as she leaves a trail of bodies in her wake, it’s honestly touching to see her realize she’s not alone. She’s a vital heroine, particularly given the times we live in and, frankly, I wish there were more like her out there.

I really liked the first 2 books, and the third was a fun romp. This one starts out much darker, and then becomes a rote thriller, where everyone knows who the participants are, and it's just a game of cat-and-mouse against the clock.
Livia leans on various resources, who all know someone who knows something. The magnitude of the crimes and the depth of the evil is well explored, and there is some creativity in the problem solving. But mostly it's Livia and a partner with the same fervent drive rushing headlong into danger to bring the bad guys to a twisted justice.
The ending was very disappointing - deus-ex-machismo. Definitely not suited to Livia.
I'll read the next one because the potential for outstanding stories (#1 and #2) remains.

This book was picked for my mystery book club.
I really loved this book and loved the characters. I want to read more of Livia Lone's journey.
First of all I love the "bad ass" woman character and how she wants to get the bad guy. She reminds me a little of Lisbeth Salander in the book "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo."
2nd of all I love the supporting characters and related to what was happening with all of them.
The only reason I didn't give a 5 rating was because the story went into too much detail at times but, that didn't matter a whole lot.

Great read
Livia helps B. D. Little track down serial rapist murderers while avoiding political interference. As usual she is her gritty best. Strongly recommended.

5 Captivating Stars
First, let me say that I am ill-equipped to give a synopsis of this book because I'd have to start at the beginning, Book 1 of the series, and even then, I could never do a reasonably concise, coherent synopsis. I wouldn't be able to describe the thrilling, nail-biting action or to convey the intense, emotionally charged reactions the book engenders. This series is just too profound, too deep, too steeped in realism to adequately explain; this book, as well as those that came before it, must be experienced, must be felt.In my opinion, Livia Lone is the most dangerous, lethal, kick-ass heroine that I think I've ever read about, and I would feel confident pitting her/her skills against anyone, man or woman. Her backstory and her quest for justice make her one hell of a hero. What's also so enjoyable about this book/series is the reappearance of many of the secondary characters, who are absolutely fascinating. Several of these characters first appeared in the John Rain series (a must read about an assassin who specializes in making assassinations look like death by natural causes; he is as lethal as they come).
This book and the entire series are riveting spellbinding pièces de ré·sis·tance. Bravo Barry Eisler!!!

Barry Eisler is an amazing writer. His John Rain series has introduced me to some of my most-loved characters ever, even if they are assassins. Morally gray characters are my favorites!
"All the Devils" is the 3rd book in his Livia Lone series. Detective Lone is a bad-ass, no-nonsense, black and white vigilante cop who seems to always pit herself against highly-ranked politicians invariably engaged in some type of sex crimes. What's funny is that Livia is a great character, but I don't really like her; she's just a little too righteous (but she has a right to be).
Eisler's professional law enforcement background and his well-researched plots are what really set his books apart. He has citations at the end of his books for like every chapter so the plots are smart, as well as imaginative.
What's also cool is that characters from the John Rain series interact with ones in the Livia Lone series, so I get to see some of my old friends. I love when that happens!
Also, the author reads his own audiobooks, which I think is the best! Last, but not least, all of the books are available on Kindle Unlimited!🎉 If you want to get lost in an awesome series, I highly recommend John Rain!

Just when it looks like a number of Livia's recent forays far outside the law might be coming back to haunt her, the last thing she should be doing is getting involved in another off-the-books operation. But there's no way she can walk away from the hunt for a team of serial rapists and murderers - especially not ones with powerful protection who believe themselves to be completely untouchable.
Another excellent read - timely subject, taut suspense, thrilling action, and as usual, impossible to put down. Eisler just never disappoints.

All the Devils (You can Kill) should be the title. OK I love this series, but dang Livia takes her bad-ass-sister act to levels far beyond normal and somehow manage it walk the fine-line between being hailed a hero and being fired and prosecuted as a serial killer. (How the hell does she do it) is the unspoken refrain from her chain of command going from her lieutenant on up and from the nation’s chain of command coming down, and the place they meet in the middle is blocked off by yellow caution tape multiple crime scenes and numerous dead, dead, dead, bodies. Like Arya Stark I quite counting the bodies after the Red wedding here I think yeah no need to keep count it’s a lot of blood under the bridge. Bottom line good story lots of action and great character development one of the all time bad-ass woman literary characters what could she possible get into next I wonder.

This is Eisler's finest work, from beginning to end. While I love all of his novels, and though the Killer Collective was a genius way to envelope the whole Rain universe (as was his recent The Chaos Kind), this novel is masterful. I have read/listened to this novel more than four times, and have gone back and re-listened to the climax in the Salton Sea another half a dozen times. This is Eisler at the pinnacle of his craft, and to be honest, I don't believe I've read anything better than this in the past decade, if ever.

This is the first time that i have read any books by Barry Eisler and therefore hadn't read the previous three books in the Livia Lone series. I really do recommend that you read the previous books first, as this book in my opinion, doesn't work too well as a stand alone and can be a little confusing. Nonetheless, i did enjoy and hope to read the previous books soon.

Aunque el principio de la historia me ha desconcertado y la parte en la que hablan los dos personajes a los que vamos a seguir la pista me ha hecho leer eso en diagonal, cuando se pasaba a lo que pasa con Livia y Little me ha enganchado y me ha gustado los giros que ha ido dando durante toda la trama.
Es verdad, que hay personajes secundarios y tramas que tienen que ver con estos personajes y el lector desconoce lo que realmente pasó en París y sólo tenemos detalles, pero el autor como sabe esto, nos deja caer cosas aquí y allí.
Me ha gustado mucho más que el segundo, aunque el primero siempre será mi favorito.

I'm sure, had I read the first two books, I would've been into this one. I was super interested by the plot, but got lost in all the mumbo jumbo brought over from the previous books. Sad that I didn't finish this one but it is what it is. onto the next!

Pulled me in to where I couldn’t stop. While the subject matter of this series can be tough, it’s a great read. I also love how the characters from all of the authors stories come together in this series lately.

When I met Livia Lone in The Killer Collective I knew that I had found a series I would love to follow for the foreseeable future. That book was perhaps book three in the Livia Lone series but also a book in two other series I had never heard of. When I saw this book up for review I knew I wanted to find out what Livia would be tackling next. Her focus is on sexual predators and putting them away, one way or another, and this book continues that theme.
When Livia is approached by someone that lost his daughter ten years before she wasn’t sure she wanted to help out but one favor she could do...and that favor drug her into a rather serious and deadly situation. It was definitely more deadly for the bad guys who tried to take her out than it was for Livia but deadly it was throughout the book.
There were two scum-bucket bad guys who were serial rapists that sometimes “disappeared” the women they preyed upon. One was in the public eye and the other his friend from the military. I have to say that these two men made me hope they would get their just desserts before the end of the book. They were truly warped and without compassion of any sort.
The search for who the rapists were was intense. The people called for information were high up the ladder sometimes and Livia was lucky to know them. I admired Livia’s strength, tenacity and will to do what she felt was right. I would definitely like to have her on my side if I were in trouble.
When I finished this book I was satisfied the story was told but was left eager to find out what Livia will be doing in the next book and whether or not her relationship with Carl will continue and take on more substance as time goes by.
This book flows. I was caught up in the beginning and kept engaged till the end. I could “see” what was happening and felt it was believable in all the important ways. At some point in time I need to find books one and two and read those as I have a feeling there is more about Livia’s early life that I should at some point read although I have a fairly good idea what her life was like from glimpses read in the two books read so far.
Did I like this book? Yes
Would I like to read more in this series? Without a doubt

You don't have to go back to the first book in the world to enjoy this book, but at least read Livia Lone first - it's the first book with Livia Lone.
