Dedicated to those for whom the pursuit of knowledge is a never-ending journey.
In the mere two years since the release of our first official lore book, the world of FINAL FANTASY XIV has grown to encompass not only the untraversed corners of Eorzea, but the far-reaching lands of an entire new continent to the east. With new horizons come new discoveries, and so it is with great pleasure that we bring you the second volume of Square Enix’s best-selling Encyclopædia Eorzea, containing 300 pages of newly compiled information on the realms we proudly call our second home.
Encyclopædia Eorzea: The World of Final Fantasy XIV Volume II, or Encyclopædia Eorzea II, is the second officially-released lorebook for Final Fantasy XIV, originally published by Square Enix in Japan and the United States on November 24, 2018. It is a sequel to the first Encyclopædia Eorzea released in 2016. This volume also comes with a code for an in-game hat based on the one worn by Matoya.

Probably the best lore books I've ever read, across the board. The quality of the book physically is incredible but there's so much lore and art jampacked into these volumes - which unfortunately isn't always the case with lore books. Absolutely adored reading this and certain sections hit different after finishing Endwalker. If you enjoy FFXIV, you need to give these volumes a shot.
But a must-buy/must-read for anyone remotely interested in a deep dive into the lore of XIV. Second volume covers lore from patches 4.0 to 4.55 (Stormblood release until the release of Shadowbringers) along with updates/additions from the previous volume. Wonderful reference material for speculations, roleplay, and takes being reference material pretty seriously.
Also, this book was designed WITHOUT a barcode or any sort of sales material on the cover itself to preserve the image of being an actual written tome of the world itself. KOJI FOX IS A MAN AFTER MINE OWN HEART.
YES this is copy/pasta of my review of the first volume. Same feelings, same wonderful work.
Looks alone would have given this one a 4 Star from me. it is, just like the first one, incredible well-made but the color gives it a slight cheap touch. It probably won't bother many people but It does bother me compared to Vol. 1 and 3.
The second volume continues the addition to FFXIV's lore, expanding beyond Eorzea to explore the far-reaching regions of Hydaelyn. With rich lore about Ala Mhigo, Doma, and beyond, this book offers a comprehensive look at the factions, characters, and histories that shape the game’s epic narrative. The blend of gorgeous art and detailed storytelling makes it a joy to read. The contents alone make this a 5 Star pick up for collectors in my opinion.
Got to give it 5 stars for the design and dedication to the lore. I think volume 1 is stronger just because it's a fount of worldbuilding. They couldn't do that again in volume 2 so it feels a little like they ended up reaching when it come to the material to include. But it is incredibly impressive that even though they, for example, decided to include every named npc that you meet (even if it's for a single quest and they have no big influence on the story), each gets a paragraph explaining who they are and what their backstory is. There's even lore on why BLM have such ridiculous hats! I can't wait to read volume 3...but I have to finish Endwalker first.
A lot of information mostly centering around Stormblood content. It also goes into details on each class and weapons as a whole, and that was my favorite part. There's a huge list of who's who as well that was nice to read through.
Any Final Fantasy XIV fan would enjoy this! Endwalker is my favorite game of all time, so it was really nice being able to browse this encyclopedia of the world I came to love.
OH THE LORE, THE ART, THE EVERYTHING. The beautiful complicated lore of FFXIV, the breath-taking art, the intricacies of everything FFXIV... The encyclopaedia you never know you've been missing.
A must have for any fans of FFXIV, and that's literally it.
