Dromen. Duidingen, verborgen betekenissen, symbolen. Door Alison Davies.

Oh dank u wel Altamira voor de prachtige afwerking van dit boek. Een boek over dromen dat is een boek dat je continue op je nachtkastje wil hebben liggen, het moet er dus wel mooi uitzien. In dit geval past het heel mooi in mijn slaapkamer. De rustgevende, dromerige cover met sterren in goudopdruk is prachtig.

Niet totaal onbelangrijk is het feit dat de binnenkant ook echt goed is. Als ik al eens een dromenboek meenam uit de bibliotheek dan hield de rommelige opmaak en de ouderwetse inhoud me tegen om echt met mijn dromen aan de slag te gaan. Dankzij Alison sta ik te popelen. Wat ik blijkbaar verkeerd deed (want ik probeerde voor mijzelf al wel het één en ander) was enkel de inhoud van mijn droom (proberen) noteren. Nu weet ik dat ik mij eerst en vooral op het gevoel moet richten.

In Dromen staat een schema zodat je makkelijk zelf aan de slag kan gaan. Na een uitleg over de functie van dromen én nachtmerries volgt een stappenplan om je droom-code te kraken. Pas daarna volgen de symbolen en betekenissen. Omdat het belangrijk is dat je kijkt naar wie jij bent en wat er in je leven speelt, en dat koppel je dan aan de symbolen. Om echt een inkijkje te krijgen in je onderbewuste. Boeiend!

Ik weet al wat mij morgenvroeg te doen staat… Slaapwel!

For a topic as personal as dreams, there is no personal voice to this book, it could be written by AI. Disappointingly, the so called “stunning” illustrations did not captivate me in the slightest. It would be easier to google your dreams than to look up the contents to find a ‘theme’ and then turn through the pages to try and find something symbolically relevant to your dream. I read to page 44 and found this book entirely redundant. DNF

I though this would have some scientific insight on dreams but it’s just a bunch of repeated attempts to describe potential feelings on relation to a subject .
