It's been eight years since Will Travers was thrown back in time. Now, at the height of his success, Will faces his greatest challenge. His son, while serving in the Texian army in California, is kidnapped. Weighing his duty to Texas against his duty to his family, Will resigns and recruits a few good men to accompany him in tracking down his son's kidnappers who have demanded a king's ransom or else! In a race against time Will chases the kidnappers across the continent, following their trail across seas and jungles. Failure will cost him more than just his family, it will cost him the future he's trying to build.

Was glad when I saw this was out, and was not disappointed. A lot happens and seems to be much more to come, really looking forward to the next one.

Not as good as 1st books. Obvious bad plots in this book

To much politics, some might like it, just not for me.
As to plots.
1. If you are going to kidnap someone for Ransome, pick a rich plantation owner. Not a military man's family.
2. Kidnappers think South Carolina safe for them. Also that they could cross ismus of Panama without a guide, you were never in a real jungle. And death rate from disease huge. Yet they all make it no problem.
3. After telling stories about every kid in America hearing the stories about Davy Crockett and fact he was a U S congressman multiterm. No mention of search for his killers. Nowhere would be safe for them. All of U S would go crazy. Yet book only says authorities searching only for kid.
Looking forward to next book. I'm hoping back to 1st 2 books.

A DMG. Western Adventure (TLSRB - 5)/A Murder/A Kidnapping/Held At Sea/Some Money Men in Texas Want to Join the South Against the Nort

DMG. has. penned the fifth novel in the Lone Star Reloaded series. As much as out or hidden hero hE tried to keep Texas free the money men want a war for profit. They as in the process of relieving General David while he is out of Texas searching for his son. As the time draws near General Davis warns against joining the South because war is inevitable with the North. He warns that the South has the manpower, but not the support of a sT time industry as does the North. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

Readable fantasy not riveting.

As a strong author I like each of his efforts this one falls short of his standard of outstanding excellence. To much effort was spent on tangential matters which led away from the basic story lines. I had to force Magee to read parts of the book and overcome a temptation to page to the next chase. I hope you find more enjoyment in this offering than I did.

Excellent read as always and I love how this is developing and the twists and turns in the story. I look forward to the next as Mr McGunn hasn't just concentrated on the MC but developed plenty of other characters to allow the story to develop.

He doesn't waste pages with boring filler but skips along nicely between events and seems to have grasped the realistic timelines that some others make a hash off.

Long may this series continue.

Another great book!

This series is great. The author really builds the characters well and the alternate history timeline is just fun as hell!

Excellent!

This was good! I never thought that southern politicians thought to break up Texas into several states just to help them with slavery. Politicians don't change, another reason to change them often, like baby diapers and for the same reason.
