Sadly I didn't really enjoy this one as much as the others. I could have gotten over the whole dead chosen mate thing, but the fact that Spoiler....his true mate was his chosen mate's younger sister and his, Louis', best friend was so annoying. It's one thing to have one MC talking and lamenting about a dead lover it's a whole other ball game when we have to hear about it from BOTH MCs. Also their ages and the time line are NEVER specific, but they are supposed to be at least a hundred years old. He got all of 5 years with his chosen mate before she died. He asked her out when they were 27 and Tee was 25......so that means he was 32 when his ex died. But they keep talking about how it's been a few or a couple of decades.....I just wish there would have been an actual year mentioned or a solid decade count from the death of the chosen mate/ sister. Also really messed up that the sister wouldn't even check with Tee before dating a guy that has been with her since childhood. Like that is selfish and just wrong on so many levels. YOU DO NOT DATE YOUR SIBLINGS' BEST FRIEND WITHOUT CHECKING IN FIRST! That rule for me is more so when the siblings are the same gender. Regina did Tee dirty and you all know it. I don't know if we just didn't get this conversation in flashback or memories. Be they weren't teenagers when this went down so all I kept thinking the entire book was how much of a coward Louis was. And every time he talked about how he wasn't worthy for Tee I couldn't help but agree.
EDIT/Add on: Okay so I've come back to point out that if Regina died when Louis was 32 and Elizabeth "Tee" was 30 and they are supposed to be at least 100 years old....that means it's been 70 years since she died and they parted ways. 70 SEVEN ZERO...not 17 not 30. Oh no, Louis and Tee have been apart longer than they were friends. I'm sorry....what? A few or a couple of decades does not equal half a century and change. I know that these are supernatural beings that live for a ridiculously long time, but 70 years is a bit excessive for this plot point. Also I'm sorry not sorry, but Louis became pathetic AF in this book and i'm still upset about it days later. The whole thing with them being related and him choosing his best friend's sister over having an honest fucking conversation with her as a 27 year old man was petty and gross. In all honesty if felt like he purposely went out of his way to hurt Tee after she made one off handed comment. And then he went and twisted the knife a little deeper.

This series is so good, the comrademy, loyalty and love between the characters is the best. The story is riveting it easily got and kept my attention throughout. Now on to read the last two books, that focuse more on the point of view of Maximus the vampire and his experience. Then the last book which focuses on one of the other brothers. The first three books were from Jessa’s point of view. I have truly been engaged in these books.
This is another fantastic instalment in the Supernatural Prison series, which is my all time favourite series from this author (who is also one of my favourite authors). It was fantastic getting back into this world and although it has been a while since I read the last book I found it relatively easy to get back into the story and remember what's happened. I loved Louis, and I've always thought he was a great character so it was good to get to see things from his POV. I also loved the main female character in this book (and I'm not going to say any names as I don't want to give any spoilers). She was as strong and independent as we've grown to know the main characters in this series to be and she is just right for Louis. We also get to see a lot of Jessa and the gang and this book. Jessa will always be my favourite and even though I love each new character that gets introduced that will never change. I really enjoyed this book and it will definitely be added to my read again pile. I'm very much looking forward to the next book in this series. A fantastic five stars from me.
I love this series. The world and characters are fantastic. But, with this one, I had to skip through most of it. The love story between Louis and Tee was fascinating at first, but quickly became tiresome. Too much crying, too many, "We can't do this, wahhh", followed by, "LET ME DIE FOR FOR YOU" moments. I couldn't deal. On a positive note, love where the story is heading with the US government getting involved in supe biz. Excited for the next book :) 3.5 stars--rounding up to 4 because the series and author deserve it, not because the book does.
I have to admit this was not my favorite book so far. I loved Louis, he was so mysterious in all the other books but feel like he was downplayed here. I skimmed pasted all the mate crap because it was just that, crap! I enjoyed the ending though and am excited for Jacob's book!
I have waited for Louis story since the beginning and I have to say wow!!! 😱💜 He’s been one of my favourites from the beginning. What a read Louis and tee what a combination and a team. Whilst the storyline continues there are the usual suspects of dragons, fae, sorcerers, demons and others. Pure fantasy with a good dose of steam thrown in. Can’t wait for the last book next!!!!!
Louis by Jaymin Eve a five-star read that will take you to another world. This is the sixth novel in the Supernatural Prison series, and I would wholly recommend you read them in order as they all tell a great story. Louis wasn’t always a character I saw eye to eye with, but he broke me in this story and put me back together again. I adored this one I was laughing at times with them and then sobbing my heart out at other parts, and there were a couple but the one that broke me was Tee talking about her family, possibly the best bot of the whole book. The passion was so nice to see, the side of Louis that made him more real to me, a character I wanted to hear more about. This was a great story showing us how even in the darkest of darkness you can find the light.
This was NOT a bad book. I did enjoy the story, somewhat, but of all the books in this series, this is by far the weakest one. Although it was constantly talked about just how much history is between Louis and Tee, it just didn’t feel like a true relationship had solidified between the two. Think about how in book 2-3 that Braxton and Jessa discovered they were each other’s mates. There was plenty of history there, but we got to see them fall deeper in love; something that was apparent in each of the Supernatural Prison stories. Something else that was missing that is very much a part of the true mate bond, the mental communication. None of that was discussed or seen in this story. This book was not all bad, and it is fair to point out that a huge chunk of time passed between Louis’s story and Tyson’s. I don’t doubt that Ms. Eve had to rediscover her groove when it comes to his story. I did like how we saw much more of Jessa (and her love of cake) in this story, Josephine and the kids all put in a brief appearance too and even got solid confirmation of Jacob’s true mate story. All in all this was a decent story, I admittedly expected more. Sadly there was way too much going on, barely any real resolution, and the shift in Louis just didn’t jive with the sorcerer we grew fascinated with in the other books. Seriously, gone was the soft spoken gentle hearted person and replaced with an arrogant, possessive and violent individual. Yes, all the men become possessive once they discover their true mate, but C’MON! She wrote him as if he were a Compass. Hopefully Jacob and Justice’s story will be better and we get a small novella or spin-off about Tee’s bears finding love.
Another great addition to the Supernatural Prison Series! I didn't know how much I had missed these characters until I started reading and everything came back to me! I've always been intrigued by Louis and I was excited to learn more about him and his past. It was a bumpy road but I am so glad that he was about to find happiness! I cannot wait until the next book! I'm going through withdrawals from these characters and can't wait for more!
Disappointing. The story and characters have all lost their charm. I don't know if there is too many characters fighting for screen time or the forced true bonding but every book feels repetitive and boring. Even once lovable characters like Jessa now feel like nothing more then lecturing mothers forcing people to bond. Everything is too easy and simple to resolve.
I have been a super fan from the beginning, but having read this, it was just a let down. To me it just felt like soft erotica, with a little bit of a story and a whole lot of horny feelings. This could have been so much better, I don’t even know if I am looking forward to the next one at all.
Louis has been my most anticipated book in this series as I was always intrigued by mysterious and powerful Louis. I really enjoyed some parts, there was more focus on the relationship than in previous books which I appreciated as I could connect better with the romance. I enjoyed both MCs and their relationship, the bits we learn from their past. It could have been better developed though as some conversations concerning the past and the bond felt repetitive by the end of the book.
Regarding the plot, I have to say that it is the part that I have usually enjoyed more in previous books but this one was less interesting. It looked more like a transition book, setting up the events for the next book’s plot with Jacob and Justice as MCs.
Overall another good book in this world where you get to see the old characters and get to know more of about them.
I've been waiting to read Louis' story since I started this series. Louis has been an intriguing character and one of my favourites from the beginning. I loved where his story went. It wasn't what I'd expected; it was so much more. I don't do spoilers, so you'll have to read the book to find out but this book took a really well written dark turn and is so much better for it. I loved the new character and this story was the most emotional of all the books so far. Along with the development of this relationship, there are an assortment of dragons, fae, sorcerers, demons and others. Pure fantasy with a good dose of steam thrown in. I think Louis is my new book boyfriend.
ME GUSTO MUCHO!
This book is amazing! Having not read any of the Supernatural Prison stories in a hot minute I did spend the first couple of chapters being like 'um who are these people?' as I had been thinking about another series that has some similarities in the lead up - supernaturals, supernatural hiding places, etc. and I got myself confused between series. However, once I got myself caught up on what series I was actually reading (serious blonde moment there lol) I quickly became immersed in the Supernatural Prison world. I must say, I'm not a huge fan of this type of love story - I won't say any more as I don't want to ruin it for anyone, but I will say that I got past my judgement and was able to enjoy the pairing, like I did with Mischa and Maximus, except less successfully there for me as I loved the pairing, just didn't love what happened in the build up of it. It's nice to see Jessa and her family, especially the babies, and get an update from them (even though this book continues on from the last one, it's just been so long since I've read it feels like I haven't seen the family in years). As for the conflict that arises... well it will be interesting to see what comes from it and how things proceed in the future
Louis is such a bad bad sorcerer. And he could burn the world in a heartbeat. Thank goodness for Tee. And yay for more dragons. Now I can’t wait to see what happens with Jake!
This was one highly requested book! Fans of Louis and Jaymin Eve have long been begging for this story. Ms. Eve absolutely delivered one immensely entertaining and emotionally driven plotline. There are both touching and scorching scenes that will keep you turning those pages. This has a lot of past hurts and healing that changes so many things. What happens when a bond is formed? Choices affect so much! It was such a heartwrenching back and forth between Louis and Elizabeth. This will have you on pins and needles wondering just how things will conclude. Ms. Eve writes with such passion and innate knowledge of the heart. She pushes her character's limits and she's not afraid to break them. Yet, she gifts us with quite an experience that always pieces everything neatly and befittingly back together.
This book was the best one of the series. I cried more in this book than the others. I love it so much. I could read this so many times and not get bored with it. I'm lookinig forward for one book with Jacob and Justice.
this book was very hard to read. It started well enough. Lizzie is a good character . I never loved Louis and I'm still not "team Louis" fan. The entire name of the series "supernatural prison" confuses me because there's not much prison action anymore . I thought it was boring. The author duplicates chapters because she is showing a different viewpoint (Lizzie or Louis) --- it just ended up to be unneeded and confusing. I would say this was not the best endeavor for this series or works from the author .
***Review may contain spoilers from previous books in the Supernatural Prison series. Consider yourself warned.***
We are first introduced to Louis in Dragon Marked, the first book in the Supernatural series. He is the sorcerer who comes to save the Compass brothers when they are being set up for killing a fae. He happens to be one of the most powerful and revered wizard of their time. Unknown to them at the time he has a connection to Jessa and Misha (has since birth) He often does not reveal what he knows and he has a dry sense of humor that gets me right in the heart. Time and time again, he shows up to help Jessa and the brothers fight the big baddies. The last time though, in an effort to save children- gets pulled into the demon world. There he is tortured, and loses some of his light. The dark side is what comes back once his family saves him.
Louis has already been through a lot, even the death of a chosen mate. So when he comes back it is no surprise that he is darker. A darker Louis is an arrogant Louis, who is so confident in his powers and abilities that he starts something that the world is not ready for. So much so that it will take an unexpected mated bond with his true mate to make him come to his senses.
Tess, the witch that loved Louis as a child, a teen and young adult. Who as his best friend growing up matched him spell for spell was called in to help care for him while his spirit was not in his body. She is who goes with the rest of them to retrieve him. She is who still matches him in every way. She is also who had her heart broken by him many decades ago. So much so that she has lived far away from the supernatural world, among the humans as she could get.
Not really sure how I am liking the new and not improved Louis. I loved him as the almost suitor, enjoyed him as the mentor, and loved him as the brother figure he developed into. This one, well needs to be smacked around a bit in my opinion. Tee does give back to him as good as she gets, which I enjoyed.
There really was no big baddie in this one, unless you include Louis himself as one. More of a true mate bond that they both try to run from. So it is hard to judge this one against the others, as each of them were facing a world ending situation. Did it bring all the feels? Yes. Did I want more than what it brought? Yes. Am I hoping to see these two later on? Yes. This is a good addition to the series and hopefully the darker Louis will help with Jacob’s story.
My Rating 4 out of 5 stars
Favorite Quote “There was a very fine line between love and hate.”
Other People Jessa- Louis’ friend Compass Brothers- the Quads Conner- bear shifter, Tee’s pack James- bear shifter, Tee’s pack Paulie- bear shifter, Tee’s pack
He's so dang SEXY!!! I loved the background story of Elizabeth and Louis. GREAT job... Elizabeth is his best friend up until her sister was murdered. Louis chosen mate. Every since she died , their friendship died too.
Louis is stuck between worlds and his soul is out of his body fighting darkness of demons after saving his friends/family.
Magic users that want more power , become seduced demons and is the only way the can jump into our world. The demon that Louis fought made the twins go into labor and while the girls struggled to give birth so the demon could sacrifice their babies to open a doorway for his world to earth...the four Compass brothers try to protect the girls and fight to no avail. Louis was the only one strong enough and he also knew he'd give his life up for his family While Louis' body lay at Stanford medical center they brought in the next strongest magic sorcerer , Elizabeth. After trying everything she's heard by everyone, yelling at him with not so nice words, to get up..to no.avail...
Elizabeth is the only one strong enough to go into the demon world to rescue his soul AND of course the whole gang is coming. Off they all go to fight demons to bring Louis back.
Let me start off with saying that one if things I like about Indie authors is that they usually publish whole series in a shorter timeframe than traditionally published authors. That being said I really enjoyed that there was a substantial break between this book and the last. Louis' story was amazing right from the beginning. One of the things that 8 loved about the book was that Jaymin often hinted at how bada$$ he was, but in this book you really get to see it. And his true mate Elizabeth is his equal in almost every detail. I also really loved how the two had been bffs since they were children. When the realization hits them both that they are true mates they react the same way most people who've been friends for that length of time. They fight it. Making the reader waver back and forth over the struggle each one is having about the other. This is a must read for anyone who is a fan of Jaymin Eve's SP series. Great job and I can't wait for the next book in the series.
This book started out feeling a bit rushed. The most exciting aspect of it was saving Louis which took up the first 1/3 of the book. I will say that THAT part of the book was highly engaging. Then you get to the middle where the two mates have to figure out the past and I think the author really missed the mark. Here the plot line seems to fade and you have chapters from each mates perspective, telling the exact same story. Which, if I’m being honest, got boring to read twice chapter after chapter. And in the ‘background’ you have apocalyptic problems trying to be solved where our main characters take no part in for the middle of the book. It’s really boring. And I LOVED the other books, the excitement, the development... and this just feels... bland. The middle could have definitely been made shorter and only needed to be from one persons perspective at a time. We didn’t need to read it the same chapter twice from 2 perspectives. Sigh. I can see why people skipped through this part.
While in his coma, Louis is losing his battle to the darkness but feels the pack come to help. Louis also feels powerful former bestie, Alaskan mage Lizzie/T watching over him as they both remember their past that veered off the friendship path when Louis mated Lizzie’s sister, Regina. Now darkened, a power-hungry Louis awakens with a plan to reveal supes.
As the Scoobies and Lizzie/T scramble to keep Louis from gaining so much power he’d become demon touched, a place he can never recover from. Meanwhile Lizzie/T and Louis acknowledge their true mate bond but it’s become ‘impossible’ because it could enhance Louis’ darkness. Meanwhile, the elder’s reveal the supernatural world to humans
I’m unsure if it was the over-examination of the Louis, Lizzie, Regina situation; the tedium of the ‘we can’t do this/I will die for you’ regurgitation in the charmless Louis Lizzie/T romance; the number of characters vying for lead; the bland storyline or what but this read failed as successful outing for this reader. Such a shame because I like Louis Rating: 3stars
Louis, the powerful Mage, has always been a valuable ally to Jessa and the gang, but we know so little about his life. Through this book, we get to learn about his childhood, closest friend, and chosen partner.
I couldn't help but feel unsettled as I read about his descent into a power-crazy mage. Let's be honest here, without the appearance of his true mate, we would no doubt have an epic fight equal to battling the Dragon King.
However, this time, no blood was spilled. Instead, there was an internal struggle of the heart. The story also sets the stage for the final book, 'Elemental Compass,' which centres around Jacob. Thanks to Louis, Jacob may just find his true mate in this predicament.
Still, the tale of Louis and his true mate lacks the same level of adventure as the previous books. The only fun part for me was when the gang journeyed into Purgatory. Other than that, I didn't find it as entertaining as the other books. Sorry, Louis!
MORE than expected!!! <3... Oh My God!!!... I still can't recover from all the emotional roller coaster this book is, SO intense!!!... it took me from laughing to crying my heart out... Louis was't my favorite from this series, I new he was important and love how Jessa and her pack helped him to recover from his lonely/miserable life... but in this book you really get to know him and OMG, I just got a new book boyfriend... LOL!!!... this book will take you to his past, which will explain everything, we can't help to love a broken heart like his, right???... but then he finds his light, his true light and now he's more fierce than ever, his power is out of this world!!!... love his intensity, his protectiveness, his way to love his true mate and also his family, he'll do anything to protect them, even risking his own life... this is A MUST READ book, you won't be disappointed... <3 <3 <3
